History

Established in 1981.

Our company was founded in 1981 by Russ Jarvis, who learned the trade from his father in law, Jack Andrews, back in 1955. Jack was one of the first technicians to install the roll-​up garage door back in 1927 for the Overhead Door Co. Russ passed the trade on to his sons, Andrew and Terrance Jarvis, and Andrews’ son Matt is now in the business. Four generations in the trade. That’s what you call family owned and operated.

I have over thirty two years of experience in the garage door repair and replacement business, I was trained by my father who learned the trade from my grandfather. My son now is in the business, making it four generations in the family business.

Get service and great price. Called in Saturday to get get the springs replaced on top of my garage door, was quotes $ 75 – 150 below his competitors. He came out the very next business day on Monday to swap out the old springs. Offered a two year warranty as well.

Called Andrew at around 8am a day after my garage door got caught on its lock and came off its rails and upon trying to fix it myself on a Friday night — I made it worse with some of the panels completely twisting. I had called a bunch of garage door repair folks I googled and set up a bunch of appointments for Saturday morning. He showed up after I had someone from another company come give me an estimate. This other guy (I dont remember the company he was from) quoted me 750 dollars, claiming I needed all new parts because «the door was non-​repairable». I was smart and decided to wait to see what Jarvis Garage Door Service and others would quote.
So Andrew shows up very close to the time he quoted me when I spoke to him at 8am, looks at the garage and said «oh ok… ill get to work.» I was confused. I immediately stopped him and said «what…how much» he replies -«120 dollars» I was shocked. I couldn’t believe it bc of the way the door looked. Literally 30 minutes later, the door was back to normal. He had untwisted the door panel and the rails. He could have EASILY told me I needed new door panels or at least a new rail. Instead he hammered the rail and door straight — basically for free. He has a lot of fancy tools in his truck and he knows these doors like the back of his hands.
He is as honest as it gets. I had to give him a 30 dollar tip bc I was so appreciative. I am definitely a frugal shopper and very skeptical of people when they quote me prices so for me to give him extra money and create a Unilocal account just for him should tell you something.

I really liked the owner & his son was really nice. They were the least expensive price for broken springs. They replaced them, but the squeak was awful. Nothing they did helped so I called them back & they said something had to be replaced, etc. My husband lubricated all parts again & no more squeaking. So, something not right…

Our garage door opener failed on our many-​years-​old door. The door was dented and rusted plus the track wheels were worn down to nubbins, so we decided to have that replaced, too.
Andy fit us in earlier than expected and the team cleaned up after themselves and left us with a perfect garage door. It really enhances the look of our house.

Called about repairing a broken spring in the morning and he (Andy) had an early afternoon opening. Set up the appointment and he fixed it in about 45 min.s. Oh yeah and I need to mention that he did contact me that he was coming to the house 10 min.‘s before he arrived, which I think was great! No hassles and very competitive price for the repair! Also comes with a 1 year warranty! Would certainly use again and will pass word along to friends and family if they ever need Garage door service.

I’ve used Jarvis Garage Door previously twice before to install new garage doors. Had to call Andy again to repair a broken door opener at my rental property. I described the problem over the phone and sent him photos of the stripped out nylon sprocket I uncovered after removing the cover on the motor housing. Andy came out at the arranged time the next day with the replacement part and repaired the opener, made minor adjustments to smooth the operation of the door and made a quick simple adjustment to get the light operating again which had not been working for years. The cost was reasonable. Jarvis Garage Door has been doing business in Fremont for a long time and does excellent work. I highly recommend him.

We hired Andrew before when the springs broke on our garage door. He was very efficient, reasonable and didn’t sell us on anything unnecessary. He did such a good job that when a real estate client of mine needed some work done on a garage door, I made sure to call him to give us an estimate. Once again, he was prompt, on time and best of all, he also beat out the estimates from other garage door companies– which made my client very happy and in turn made me look good. He was hired to do the repairs and had a quick turn around time. 2 for 2 so far. It’s nice to know great contacts in this business. I won’t hesitate to give him more referrals in the future.

We had a slight mishap in which the lowest panel of our roll-​up door was bent out a bit and one of the wheels came off the track jamming the door in that position. I called Jarvis in the morning and Andrew was able to get out to look at it that afternoon. Without fuss he «massaged» the parts back into alignment and had the door working again in about 15 minutes.
Andrew Jarvis is very knowledgeable. Though the garage door was installed ~1995/​6, and the panels are now hard to come by, Andrew knew exactly the make and model of the door and was able to estimate the cost of a complete repair, i.e. replacing the bent panel, assuming it could be found, and in case we wanted to do that. I should mention that I asked him for the estimate; he thought the door would look fine as is and no further work was required. And I agree.
5 points for a timely response, a quick and efficient repair (with a smile), and a reasonable price with no up-​selling.

I recently had a component break in my garage door opener which left me with a dead door. After a quick look, I gave Andy a call and explained the problem I was having. Over the phone he was able to give me an estimate and a timeframe for an appointment and how long he expected the repair to take.
Andy was in and out in 1 hour and even touched up a few things that he noticed needed a bit of maintenance. He was very forthcoming in giving me advice and answered any questions I had for him.
Great service and a fair price, the way things should be. Definitely give Jarvis a call if you need some garage door help.

After trying to work with another company that was very rude on the phone and in person I called Jarvis Garage Door. Andy answered, came right out and got to work. My garage was a cramped mess but Andy persevered and fixed the problem. He was prompt, professional, friendly and reasonably priced. I would definitely use again and not hesitate to refer his company to my friends and family.

Andrew was great! Our garage door springs broke back in March and I immediately did my research via Unilocal and found a few local garage door service providers. I ended up setting an appointment with Jarvis Garage Door Co. for two main reasons:
1) Was one of the cheaper options out there.
2) Was really professional and helpful over the phone. Some of the other vendors I called sounded annoyed with the questions I had (a big no no).
He came by the following day to get our springs fixed and did such an amazing job. Not only did he fix the springs but he lubricated the garage door lift free of charge. Prior to him coming, our garage door was super loud and annoying that we could hear it opening/​closing from the third floor… that is no longer an issue because being in the garage itself you can barely hear it now. I thought the quietness and smoothness would last a few days but 2 months later it is still nice and quiet and smooth! Thank you Mr. Jarvis!

Call Andy first! Especially if you have a home warranty. We discovered by the first company that broken springs are not covered. Unfortunately we had to send the guys back to SANTA CLARA from Tracy… We then called Andy on the advice of several others, and found him to extremely reasonable.
Awesome service and incredibly friendly. Andy gave an honest estimate and did not try to push additional services or products. I can tell that we might need additional work in the future, but he only offered his words of caution on pending repairs.
Terrific customer service as well as being early for our appointment. They waited until the appropriate time and were not rushed in completing the job. When the time comes, they’ll be the first to call again.

We recently used Jarvis Garage Door service to replace our old single piece garage door. It was easy to work with Andy. He gave us very good advice on what type of door and the lift mechanism to go for. He even come down on the weekend to look at our old door and give us an estimate for the new door. I got quotes from a couple of places and his pricing was very reasonable.
We had the installation done within a week. I was very happy with the work. The only comment I had is that they did not properly clean the garage after the work was done and also they used the old wire for the door opener switch. But I would still recommend them.

I called Andrew at 1:30pm and he showed up at 2:30pm. He is friendly and experienced. He gave me an honest estimate and I decided to go for it. He replaced my tension roller. The whole unit is replaced and balanced well. I can tell as soon as the door is opened. The motor is not working as hard as before, so much quieter.
Personally, I don’t know about the price comparison but according to the other reviewers, I am confident that he is not over pricing on his work. And I am very happy with what he did. So I am giving Jarvis 5 stars. Thank you so much Andrew and now my door is working as it should be. :-)
