Brake Shop

Just like most repair places they are around $ 300 so I called my dad who works on cars, he told me to buy the parts from Autozone and just pay someone for labor. A pair of brake pads and two rotors cost $ 80, when I came back here and told them that I had my own parts he still tried to discourage me by saying the work won’t be under warranty etc. Then he quoted me $ 190 for labor (that’s crazy) so I left and called the dealership where I bought the car, they charged me $ 100 for labor so went with them.
You don’t have to pay what these shops want there is always someone cheaper, another thing, the guy at the brake shop was not even going to replace the rotors he just was going to resurface them, that way they save on buying new rotors and get more profit from the $ 300. A pair of brake pads cost $ 20 at Autozone and autoshops get stuff at wholesale (they pay even less than that) so most of your $ goes towards labor only, it’s a scam that most of these shops do.
Since I did not use them, I gave them only 2 stars and really can’t recommend them.

All I ask is look at the reviews/​comments. All of them 5 Stars — all of them. I had been looking to have my brakes checked and repaired as I used to do the work myself but due to age I can’t do it anymore. I checked around and received price quotes from my trucks dealer and a muffler brake joint (which were just unbelievably overpriced) and I happened to stumble upon The Brake Shop where I read nothing but great comments on Unilocal. I decided to try them out and I was not disappointed and trust me if you do you will not be disappointed neither. Sako — the owner, operator and mechanic listened to my needs for my truck and quoted me a price that was well within my budget and believe me it was greatly appreciated. He had my truck done in as little as two hours. Small place but big in customer service. I will spread the word. Sako not only does brake repairs but all types of repairs and told me if he was not able to repair a certain problem then he would recommend someone who could. Honest, fair and great price. Don’t know what else you can ask for.

My last minute brake needs were met by the Brake Shop. I’m usually a loyal customer to my mechanic but since I hadn’t heard back from him, Unilocal led me to this shop. I am very pleased with the customer service Sako provided and the quality values he instill in his employees. It’s great to see people care for your vehicle as it’s their own and hearing Sako educate and treating his employees well, speaks volumes.

EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE — EXTREMELY FAIR
I moved to the Fresno area a few years ago from Palo Alto and needed major work on my farm work truck. I asked around town and nobody really had that «good reliable mechanic» that they could refer me to. So I took it upon myself to leverage Unilocal.coma and discovered this shop. From the time of my arrival I was impressed with Sako, the owner of 25 years at the same place (that speak volumes of the quality of his work). Although my ranch is located in Chowchilla, it was worth the drive to downtown Fresno (approx 1 mile from the Tower District) His professionalism and helpfulness in diagnosing my truck issues, providing me a quote (that was approx. $ 340 vs. $ 720 from a area shop ending in a «O»). He completed the work in 2 hours. Although the business is called Brake Shop, Sako performs all engine and transmission work on all cars. I’m lucky to have tried out this business and will definitely return and more importantly spread the word on the quality of work and being an honest business person. Thanks so much!!!

This is an excellent shop where the owner listens and addresses his customers with respect. My breaks are better than ever and the service was reasonably priced. They offer a variety of services. This is my go to place now.

Absolutely phenomenal. Les Schwab quoted me $ 570, and these guys did it for $ 197. And it’s perfect. And the customer service is great. This non-​car-​guy felt appreciated and informed. I only wish they were open Saturdays.

Sako is the man! And The Brake Shop is the place to go for worry free top quality service. Been taking my vehicles to this shop for a while now and it feels good have a mechanic you trust with all your diagnostic and repair needs. I am sure there are a lot of great shops in the area but I am glad I found this one.

We read about these guys on Unilocal.We are from out of town (San Diego) and didn’t know of any mechanics in town. The Brake Shop had a perfect rating so we came in for an estimate and ended up having Sako do the job! He replaced our brakes, turned the routers and drums all for a very very reasonable price (under $ 400 total) and it all took only a couple hours! We would highly recommend The Brake Shop to anyone in the Fresno area or like us, anyone just passing through! Friendly, knowledgable and Honest mechanics are hard to find these days! This place was great. They finished my work right on time and the brake job has caused me no problems in over 2 years! I am taking my car back there on my next trip to Fresno for general car repair. Highly recommended.
