Dr. Meyer was very friendly and professional and Gary was very kind in helping me get a quick replacement for my lost glasses. I really enjoyed my experience here and would recommend this place.

I am surprised that Unilocal is hiding the negative reviews for this business. I found two that weren’t so glowing after I hunted around down the page. Maybe they will unhide them eventually. I have seen this place be really helpful and pleasant, as described in a couple of reviews, but sometimes downright rude. Unfortunately the rude moment is going to dominate my rating because there is no room for that at all. I would have rated them higher if they had been just average and consistent but being really rude even once is unacceptable. One of the reviews I saw by Frank after I unhid them tells me quite a bit since it shows they at times do not care about clients who have invested a lot in their eyewear in the past. I am sure they are sometimes very nice here but they need to work on consistently good customer service. They are also expensive.

I can’t speak to their actual services, but I had a wonderful experience there today. We were passing through Gainesville when one lens fell out of my glasses. Spotting their sign from the road, we stopped in. The doctor there fixed my glasses and didn’t charge me a penny. If they treat strangers this well, there would be reason to think they provide great service to their customers. Many, many thanks!

Proprietorship sold us a set of popular-brand photochromic lenses in our frames at a total cost of $ 257, some of which was covered by our Humana Vision Plan. My wife has recently had lens-replacement therapy for progressive cataracts in both eyes. Mr. Brown knew full well of this condition and the fact that she needed new non-prescription lenses specifically for driving with her prostheses; nevertheless sold her these expensive lenses that are totally unsuitable for her needs, as we now find out after the fact. Proprietor has himself admitted to her face that she should have been told of the unsuitability of her purchase; yet she was not. Company has offered to exchange the lenses for basic sunglasses at no additional charge. Proprietor has also conceded to me that this offer is perfunctory but is the best he can do under the circumstances. When approached as to the unacceptability of this situation, Mr. Brown was found to be rude, diffident and intransigent in his conversation. His expressed position is that knowledge of this limitation being common, we should have known that going in. It would seem the doctrine of caveat emptor has now been expanded to encompass medical services. We should all be so advised. This is made all the more regrettable by the fact that we are 18-yr customers at Spectrum Optical, having first done business with his father before him back in 1995. This is how he treats his long-term, established customers; new customers draw your own conclusions.
