Absolute Mac

My MacBook Pro was dead, after water damage. They saved all of the data and replaced the hard drive. It wasn’t cheap but a new Mac would have cost more and the water had caused extensive damage. I had taken it to an Apple Store and they would have charged more, taken longer, and would not transfer the data over to the new hard drive I needed to have replaced.
I’m not sure about some of the low reviews about the location because the business I went to was a nice storefront and the employees were professional and courteous. I rarely give 5 stars.

I’ve had great service from these guys and they have assisted me several times on things and didn’t charge me. Totally recommend them.

for a 20 $part they charged me a labor of 100 $ which I thought was insane. Previously i had been to apple store to change my mouse pad and they only charged $ 40 bucks for labor. i do not recommend this. Go to real apple store.

Very good service. I asked about upgrading hard drive on a macbook air and I was presented with 3 options and finally I was able to find a low cost one that worked for my needs. I was given a lot of help and advise for free. Recommend them because they seem honest.

Miguel didn’t know me from Adam when I called for help earlier today. I was having a very difficult time with my regular sites and was afraid I may have a virus and really didn’t know what to do. Miguel was very kind and gave me options and walked me through the process to make sure my computer was scanned by an approved app.

I accidentally spilled wine and ruined my Mac Pro. I took my laptop there without making an appointment but all employee were so nice and took care of me right away. They were very friendly and very helpful. They truly saved my laptop and my day! I hope I don’t need to visit them again for repairing but I definitely recommend anybody who have a problem of their Mac.

I have taken my problematic iMac to Alan at Absolute Mac a few times and have had nothing but good experiences. They are knowledgable and get the job done. Recently my iMac had to be taken in for a bad video card. It was a warranty issue, so I assumed that it would only be covered if I took it to an apple store. I lugged the heavy machine throughout the mall, waited 35 minutes to be told that I had to make an appt to have it looked at… the only available appointment they had was one week later! I immediately called Sean at Absolute Mac and he told me to bring it in. It was covered under the warranty and looked at immediately!

I had an additional 4GB of Ram installed on my mac last week. It was quick and the start there was helpful.
The store doesn’t have a big inventory of items so you should always call ahead of time to check what items they have available.

Absolute Disaster
I wanted to convert our shop over to Mac from PC. The owner told me that would be no problem. The transition would be easy, they would be with us for support, All the applications would work seamlessly and we might even save money. None of those things happened. Cross OS applications rarely work as expected. There are no real solutions to cope with the REAL world from the Mac world. And after the sale, they couldn’t care less, unless we were being charged $ 150/​hour. NO ONE knows how to straddle the PC and Mac worlds less then the guys i was forced to work with. They billed me as experts constantly. I would walk into the server room and find them googling tuitorials. Really bad.

Outstanding service and price. I had them install a new HD in an older iMac, they did it quickly and at a fair price and communicated along the way. I will use them again and again even though I live 30 minutes away. Highly recommended.

HORRIBLE and AWFUL first experience at this place and their AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE! I highly recommend anyone to go to an actual Apple store instead of the dump known as Absolute Mac. I visited for the first time and this is a not a customer friendly place of business. I went to Absolute Mac to purchase our son a new Mac computer and by the staff’s behavior, they let us know they are not serious about doing business and they are not worthy to represent Mac products or service. My friends also had a negative first time visit as well. They went to this house/​store where Mac Absolute is located and before they could even get to the door, someone locked the door and they posted a sign about inventory being done on Dec. 31, 2012 which was so TACKY and TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL to lock the door on that wonderful family without acknowledging them or letting them know what happened. Like the other reviewer stated, STAY AWAY from this HORRIFIC PLACE, is all I can say about this AWFUL PLACE! We will NOT RETURN to that DUMP and their HORRIBLE STAFF!

I’ve been to this place on and off, because it’s conveniently located to me (I live in Gaithersburg). This place used to be great about 3 years ago when it was run by a younger guy in his 30s. When he left, the place really went down hill. However, glad to report that he is back and the place is under the new management comprised of former Apple employees.
The guys are honest, knowledgable and really care. I like that its never crowded like the AppleStores.

We brought 2007 Mac into the store to have the hard drive wiped, to check for any problems and to buy a new power cord. We had excellent service and no hidden costs. My sister and I are not Mac users and Chris spent additional time with us giving us many helpful hints – at no extra cost. It was a pleasure not to be caught in the pre-​Christmas crowd or hype of Apple Mall stores and I would definitely recommend Absolute Mac to anyone.

STAY AWAY!!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. We bought a Macbook Pro there, as well as several accesssories and an Apple Care policy. After having a problem with the charger (which turned out to be a universal well-​known problem with this unit), we returned to the store, only to be told by Allen that he «believed» that it wasn’t covered. When we asked him if he could find out for sure, he changed his story to they absolutely would not cover it without even checking. We looked it up on the website and one of the first items that the Aple Care covers is the charger. We called Apple and they told us that it was indeed covered and they were perplexed as to why they told us it wasn’t. This is not the first time that we have had poor support from this store. You would think that after spending over $ 2K that they would be a bit more helpful! Stay away… go to a REAL apple store!

These guys are the best. I’ve bought Macs and had them help me and my company with issues for about 7 years now and even though I’ve moved to Bethesda (with 2 Apple stores nearby) and my company is in Alexandria, I still come back here because they are truly helpful with none of the attitude you sometimes get at the Apple Store.
My latest trip here was to (hopefully) fix or recover data from a hard drive that had a lot of really personally important stuff on it. Within 10 minutes they helped me and instead of taking days to get back to me and charging me a ton of money to diagnose, they found the problem was a faulty power cable and charged me a few bucks for that and nothing more.
These guys are great and took the time to listen and understand what the problem was. The location is a little out of the way, but I am a customer for life.

My buying experience for an iPad 2 at Absolute Mac has been disappointing. I paid more than $ 600 upfront with no confidence of getting one 5 weeks later. Communication regarding inventory /​supply has been mediocre.
I was hoping that Absolute Mac would have provided better «personal» attention for being a local AD. At this point going with an Apple brick and mortar or online @
would have been a better choice.

I had an Airport Extreme with a fried WAN port. I kind of figured that it would be cheaper to replace it than to have it fixed, but to try to keep it out of the landfill I thought I would have these guys look at it. They have a $ 75 minimum charge (payable upfront) for diagnosis /​repairs, which is fair enough if they actually have to take time to diagnose a problem. When I dropped off the AE, I told them specifically that the WAN port was fried. 4 days later, after hearing nothing, I called them to see if they had looked at the AE. It was obvious that they hadn’t, but they told me that they were looking up the serial number to see if it was still under warranty (it wasn’t — I told them that when I took it in.) They then told me that it was going to be cheaper to replace it, and said «I need to tell the guys upfront to tell people when they bring these things in that it is cheaper to replace them than to repair them.» Oh… right… but then you wouldn’t be able to charge $ 75 to not really do any diagnostics and just tell people what they already know.
