History

Established in 1988.

Our company began with the owner, Hung, repairing and installing refrigeration systems, air conditioners, and heaters for the Vietnamese people local to his area. His professionalism, technical skill, along with his fair pricing and good word from his customers, the company grew stronger and stronger every year.

In 1995, Hung brought his brother, Tuan, on board as an apprentice. Tuan brought with him a very advert skill in sheet metal fabrication and general construction. His advanced abilities have since turned out clean, professional equipment installations time and time again.

Today, with Hung leading the technical service teams and Tuan leading the installation teams, our family has grown quite a bit. We now have 10 members, 4 vans, and a 5,000 square foot warehouse. Give us a call today and see how our family can help your family!

Stephan’s Home Comfort Services was founded by Hung Nguyen, who began his enterprise by repairing and installing refrigeration systems, air conditioners, and heaters for the Vietnamese community of Little Saigon in Garden Grove in 1988.

After immigrating to the United States from Vietnam with his wife and first son in 1985, Hung found that the heating and air conditioning business was one way he would be able to contribute significantly to the lives of others. He named his company — originally called «Stephan’s Refrigeration» — after his second son, Stephan, who was born the year Hung founded the business.

Now an HVAC specialist for nearly 25 years, Hung has expanded the business throughout the remainder of Orange County and all of Southern California. He and his brother Tuan, a sheet metal fabrication and construction specialist who joined the business in 1995, currently oversee ten employees, four vans and a 5,000 square foot warehouse.

Hung and his team did a great job installing a new heater air filter in the attic and air conditioning a split system with the compressor out side on the pad at the end of the house.
Heat and air works great at very reasonable cost. Much better price than Costco offered.

Stephan’s provides professional, high-​quality HVAC service at a reasonable price. I’ve used them for a mini-​split AC system install and for central AC duct repair. Both jobs were done extremely quickly by friendly, knowledgeable technicians. The mini-​split install was a larger job based on the install site, upgrading the electrical panel, and running electrical conduit. The team from Stephan’s showed up early and stayed late to get it done. They showed great attention to detail with not only getting everyone done, but also making the install look good. Highly recommended!

If you’re looking for amazing service, believe in me and call Stephan’s! I had a heating issue problem and another company quoted my at least $ 1000 to fix but they wouldn’t do the work. They recommended me to buy a new furnace instead.
When I called Stephens he had a technician come out the next day to look at it. When I was asking about possible solutions and causes, Stephan answered all my questions and was very informative. The next day my heating was back up for a third of the cost! They know what they’re doing and provide excellent service. Thank you also to Paul for always following up to make sure service was on time and exceptional.
I would gladly refer this company to all my friends and relatives that have any heating or cooling issues! Thanks again Stephan, Paul, Kaipo and Hung! You guys are the best!

i am very disappointed and would not recommend to anyone
I had my duct work replaced for the AC system with new filter put in by Stephan’s Home Comfort Services.
I called Stephan’s Home Comfort Services due to heating system is not working. the office staff did not tell me there is a diagnose charge and told me to wait until the technician come out to diagnose problem.
The technician came and told me i need a new control board that roughly equal to about a $ 500 cost to get my heater working. and he does not have the part so i would have to wait.
PLUS there is an 80 $ diagnosis fee !
I couldn’t afford the $ 500 estimate and did not agree to the repair… thank God because I found another company and the technician told me:
1. the system was unplugged (maybe due to the duct work… my heater is in the attic)
2. my heater DOES NOT NEED a new control board as he got it up and running in 10 min; tested 3 times and even check for carbon monoxide.
I DON’T mind paying for quality work
I DO have a problem with poor quality/​dishonesty
like i said… I am very disappointed with Stephan’s Home Comfort Services for the heater technician incorrect diagnosis and not informing me upfront there is a service charge (and the diagnosis is not even correct)

I had a bad experience with these guys a couple of months back. I called to describe my a/​c unit’s situation and the guy on the phone said he could make it out there the same afternoon. This was during the 100+ degree weather we were having. I cancelled another appointment I had made for the next day with another company as I wanted our a/​c fixed ASAP. By 5pm, I hear nothing from this guy and I even left a meeting early from work so that I could make it home by 4pm (which was the time he promised). I called their office and the lady who answered said she would try to contact the guy I spoke with (I won’t mention his name here). He wouldn’t pick up his phone after many tries. When I finally spoke to him, he said he had another emergency with a restaurant client and that that was more important. Ok, fine… I can understand that, but why not give me a call and let me know if you can’t make it?! I asked if he could send another technician, but he said he preferred to come to my place as he was familiar with my problem. I told him it was easy for me to explain to any other technician my problem, but he sounded mad when I suggested that. Plus, he said he couldn’t make it out till the next day. I was trying to control my anger over the phone and I told him that he should have told me earlier… now all the other A/​C companies were booked for days and I cancelled the previous appointment I had with the other company. He sounded like he was angry and just said «Look, I gave you the other options and you can decide». He cancels on me without even telling me (I had to call him) and then HE was the one who was upset? Bad customer service. Won’t ever recommend or use them.

So Hung was right. First day of fall, my AC died and unrepairable. We had unforgivable heat all week long and with a 3 story home and 2 young kids, I was practically on my knees begging for help. So who was able to get me a new unit installed on the same day while other vendors told me, «I can’t see u until 2 weeks from now»? Hung and his wonderful team! They put up with my demands and got it done and by 7pm that night, the whole nightmare of a broken AC unit was just a dream. Thanks again Hung, Stephen, and Paul. Great work!

It took me 5 years to get A/​C in my rental unit. I shopped around for many quotes and even got a quote from Costco. All the other companies sales reps were pretty ruthless and at times were worst than bill collectors trying to hustle me to buy from them. Even the Costco’s third party rep was pretty bad and provided me my worst experience ever.
I finally used Unilocal and found Stephan’s Home Comfort. A sales rep by the name of Paul came out and was very easy to work with and I did not feel any pressure or used car sales man tactics from him. I felt that he was very genuine and easy to work with. He gave me a quote for a new HVAC Unit, Furnace and ducts and gave me one great price which was better than the 8 quotes I received.
If there was a 6th star on Unilocal then I would totally give them one as they superb customer service.

This company is great! I have a small business and we had a older air conditioner that just was not cooling our guest off. I had several bids to completely revamp the system they all came in much higher and we’re not offering all the modifications we needed. This team not only beat the other bids but did incredible work and the air feels great! Highly recommend them!

My AC did not work. A different company called Relax Air came by and claimed that my compressor was shorted. I called Stephan comfort company. Hung was extremely knowledgeable with Air Conditioners. After a very short time, Hung was able to get my AC unit to work again without saying that my compressor was bad. He only replaced the fuse. Hung is very smart, knowledgeable and specially extremely honest. I strongly recommend this company for all of your AC problems. I am so glad I know this company. Thank you very much Mr. Hung for solving my AC problem.

My central AC broke down two weeks ago, luckily we found Stephan’s Home Comfort Services, made the same day appt. Mr Hung came to my house did a check up found out that one of the part need to be replaced, the service was quick and very honest. I’m very happy with the service, definitely recommend their company to my families and friends.

I brought my house in Santa Ana 1988 the house was build in 1960 so everything is old like the house !!! In 1994 our water heater broke while no one is at home we replace it but didn’t moved it out to the garage, in 1998 we remodeled our place add on the AC, but still not remove the water heater out, after decade the noise of the water heater start to bother me, also worry don’t when it will leak again cus it place right next to my daughter room, I got a lot estimate from different company and advice either regular water heater or tankless water heater, finally I called Stephan, he gave me straight out this is the best way to go and also save me money and headache in the future. They start the job on Monday and finished on Tuesday so quick and the screw did very good jobs, they also haul away my old water heater too, , I’m very happy with the work they done and hire them again to removed all those asbestos in my adit and changing my air duct, what you pay for that what you got, satisfy and most of all no more loud noise … I’m very happy with the work they had done thank you very much

It was starting to get hot again, so I figured it was time to get our house air-​conditioned. Business hours were only during weekdays, but the owner was willing to work with me and came out on a Sunday to give me an estimate.
The estimate process was straight forward. He took a look at our house and the current central heating setup, then made some recommendations. Prices, details and such were all printed out in a binder that he had with him. Seeing him have this information prepared made me feel more comfortable about the pricing, in that it wasn’t some made up number he was making up in his head.
At any rate, I scheduled some days with him for the work. Besides the items needed for the air conditioning, we ended up also getting two vents added, our electric panel upgraded, all air ducts replaced and an air filtration system installed. All this took about 3 solid days of work, which two techs coming out each day.
During the whole time, the techs performed the work in a professional manner. They were always mindful about any mess they made and cleaned their work area at the end of the day. They took care in the work they did and made sure that everything was done correctly.
Its been a couple weeks since then and everything has been running great. Thank you!
