Horrible services! A tip for the manager if your employees keep yelling to your customers definitely you don’t know how to do business. I was getting in to shop and a lady who don’t have any idea of customer services yell at me and ask me to leave just because she was mopping! Then why you don’t just look the door? HORRIBLESERVICES

I came here with my mom, my brother, and my uncle. The tamales were awesome and I loved the fresco de maracuya but the pupusas were too aguadas(I dont know how to say that in english) and the waitress was so mean, like she was all rude and standoffish for example, my mom asked her to put her horchata in a to go cup and she sighed and made an angry face

I had been holding off on a review because I had not tried many pupuserias. Well, the time has come. I have been to quite a few places that serve pupusas and this place is the real deal. I recently had a bad experience with another place that has high ratings for pupusas on Unilocal…(that should be corrected asap)! Anyway, we are not here to talk about that so here are the«facts» 1. Pupusas — They have revueltas(mixed — for you non Spanish speakers) They include beans, cheese and pork. Soooo tasty. It’s just the right amount of dough and ingredients. They also have bean pupusas and bean and cheese pupusas. 2. Cheap aka inexpensive I think they’re about 2.50 each and you really only need two pupusas to have your little tummy jumping with satisfaction. 3. I’m totally into sweet drinks so try their Maracuya which in essence is a passion fruit drink. You can thank me later for turning you to this gem! ;)

Short and sweet on this one. The pupusas were what I neatly and comfortably consider my good not great category. The pasteles de carne were tasty but the filling was a little mushy. The chicken was, again, good fried chicken but not where I’d go if I wanted fried chicken. What I like though is that you can get all these good foods under one roof which makes the experience more than just«good» but arguably great. In other words, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts and their wide menu is enticing and I think something for everyone. Each food I ate was 3.5 stars or so but as a whole the place is 4 stars for the reasons I mentioned. Worth a trip/try once but after that I’m more likely to repeat if I’m in the neighborhood rather than making a special trip. I do wanna try that salpicon…

The pupusas were fantastic, some of the best I’ve ever had. The coffee not so much, but if you want great pupusas this is the perfect place. We tried frijol con queso, and queso con loroco which I couldn’t have been more satisfied with. The service was great to boot!

This place is a hole in the wall. Theres nothing nice about it. No AC, too bright inside. Did I mention its hot in there. The ambiance inside is somewhat odd and uncomfortable. Pupusas are ok. There’s nothing special about their recipe. The prices on their menu are not updated. The lady at the front counter has an attitude. I wouldn’t go back.

Great food, and one of the best pupusas I’ve had. The pupusas themselves are HUGE and full of flavor. Always a great choice for lunch and convenient, I call in my order show up and pick up fast. A menu online would be a big help, but for a hidden gem, isn’t necessary.

Sign in the plaza says Pupusas y Pollo. Menu is written all in Spanish but the lady speaks English. Food takes a while for it to be prepared but that’s because they make them fresh, especially the pupusas. You can hear the dough being smacked from the back kitchen, it’s funny lol. Food arrived piping hot and everything tasted very delicious. Highly recommend if you’ve never tried pupusas before!

The pupusas here are the BEST. Usually when trying out a new place we get something small to sample to see if worth our money. Got a Queso con Pollo(Chicken and Cheese) Pupusa(almost like a stuffed sope). One bite and I was back in line ordering all kinds of food to take home. Got some Pastelitos con Carne(Fried Meat Pies) and some Fried Chicken with Fries. Of course had to grab some more pupusas. The fried chicken was pretty tasty. They seasoned the bird like you would if roasting(not battered). It may be hard to order here was everything is listed in spanish but I wouldnt let that stop me. Awesome hole in a wall.

The food here has great taste. However, pupusas might sometimes have no flavor and lack of condiments. Lately they have gotten really cheap when serving them with a smaller portion of what they’re supposed to have for a HIGHER price than before. I will not deny that the other dishes taste great but so far I have been disappointed by the pupusas. Their fresh waters are delicious. I would recommend pan relleno I believe it’s called.

Gosh! This place is good! The pupusas Are filled how I like them. The size of them big and the price is even better. The rest of the menu is good as well. I take everyone I know here. I do like eating there. It is a bit random set up.

I’m not a pupusa aficionado, but these are pretty damn good. Take’s a while to prepare so you will have to wait, but they’re worth it, grab some of the Salvadorean coleslaw for the pupusas. Also, make sure to get some of the horchata, it is very different than the standard Mexican version, nutty and hints of chocolate. Also, word of warning: If you’ve never had loroco flowers only get one to try, they’re… different.

«Pupusas y pollo» is the name of the joint really. It was a little confusing for a few seconds. Total outdated hole in the wall. The pupusas de queso were really good. Nothing to say«I’m craving this!» The folks at the front were nice and friendly.

My El Salvadoran friend suggested I come here. She didn’t know the name of the place, but it is located on Harbor just southeast of the 22 in Garden Grove. BTW, the sign on the outside says Pupusas y Pollo in big letters and the name of the restaurant in small letters. It is located next to a boba store w/karaōke and a billiards place. I ordered a cheese pupusa and a cheese and chicharron pupusa($ 2.50 each) to eat here(para comer), In addition, I also ordered pasteles de carne(corn patties w/beef) for take out($ 6.50 — para llevar). The dough on the pupusas was very good. It was just as my friend described: Pillowy soft, not greasy and very tasty. The cheese was also very good. However, I did not taste much of the chicharron. The curtido(cabbage, onions and carrots) was super fresh and crunchy —(Very similar to coleslaw for Americans or kimchee for Koreans). I was stuffed after eating the two pupusas: 4 Stars. I gave the pasteles to my friend and he said they were very good also. He said they tasted like fried tamales due to the corn patties: 4 Stars. They also have fried chicken(specialty), rellenos de pescado(stuffed fish) and other El Salvadoran dishes. The lady behind the counter speaks primarily Spanish(luckily, so do I). So if you come here and can’t speak Spanish, you will have to point at the pics on the menu. In addition, don’t come here if you are in a hurry. Service is very leisurely: 3 Stars. Ambiance is very basic w/tables you will find in any casual latin restaurant in So CA. All the clients seemed to be El Salvadoran based on their accents: 3 Stars. I definitely want to come back and try some other dishes. El Salvadoran cuisine is a nice change of pace compared to eating Mexican food all the time.

Total hole in the wall joint. We kept getting the why-are-these-chinos-here look from the other patrons. Got chicharron and lorocco pupusas, and was impressed with neither. I felt like they didn’t cook the pupusas long enough because it was a little too soft and doughy. I had no idea what lorocco(edible flower) would be like, but it was definitely not something I would get again. On the other hand, I got to try the fried plantains for the first time and I like it a lot. It came with sour cream and refried beans. Sadly, I didn’t have room for their famous fried chicken. They do have couple beers from El Salvador if you want to make your meal totally authentic. The owners were very friendly and provided good service. Oh and they take credit cards.

Came here for lunch today with 3 other co-workers, and I absolutely loved this place! I ordered 2 pupusas, but also ended up trying the empanadas and the plantain desserts. I ordered a pupusa con chicharon(or pig skin), and a pupusa with mixed stuff in it(the last one on the list, but I forgot what it’s called). My favorite has to be the pupusa con chicharon. It’s super flavorful and filling, I came in hungry, but was almost full after eating just one. The empanadas were AMAZING, my favorite for sure. You can tell it’s freshly made because it comes out piping hot and not stale or mushy. The flavor of the empanadas were out of this world, to me, they taste like potato and beef stew wrapped in crispy deep fried crunchy goodness. The plantain desserts were good, but not super special in my opinion. Maybe because I’m not a huge fan of bananas or plantains, but my co-wokers who love bananas said that they were amazing. Service is great, the food came out in a timely manner, but in this case, the slower the better because you know the food is made fresh instead of sitting under a heatlamp somewhere. The décor is so cute, super simple and Central American. I swear I heard a spanish version of «why can’t we be friends» here. A down side is they do not have any english translations in their menu and the lady I ordered from has very limited english. I didnt know what to order, but thankfully my co-worker is fluent in Spanish. Also a down side is that the name on their building is just«Pupusas y Pollo» and not what Unilocal lists it as. But those are just minor details. The food here is bomb, and that’s what it should be all about.
