This restaurant is 4 houses from my house. Been here for lunch but not for dinner. Little pricey but food if good. Will go again and try the other stuff.

First time here, wanted something different for lunch and I think we made a good choice. We had the short rib lunch box and pork cutlets. We’d definitely come back.

This place was pretty solid. It’s a cute-loooking restaurant in a house and they had tables and booths inside! I did notice some of the other unusual items on their menu, but they were more than I wanted to spend, so I got the very reasonably priced fish egg stew at $ 9.99. It was pretty good, they were generous with the fish pouches and they flavored it with tiny salted shrimp — I haven’t seen that very often, but I like it when they do that. No MSG reaction. Sadly, they don’t have the mixed rice anymore(or else they just didn’t have it the day I was there.) The side dishes were good too, tasted freshly made. My favorite was the shiitake mushrooms. The waitress seemed surprised that I finished them so quickly and brought me more, haha. Service was fine, as I was the only one in the restaurant. Not a lot of English spoken, but it was fine because the waitress was teaching me words in Korean! Haha, too cute.

2.5 I think… Having been to Tofu Village a million times, and eating at Old Time Noodle House, I decided to stop by here n check it out. MJJ is a smaller place, but it has a cozier feeling to it. And the menu is interesting. Where they really lack is service. When I sat down, the gal gave me my menu and was ready to take my order!!! I kindly asked her for a MINUTE to look at the menu. 15 minutes later as I was about to leave, she came over to take my order, the whole damn time I’m trying to get her attention as she’s chatting with her friends at another table, sittin down with them. Being new, I ordered the kimchi chiggae. It was a little different than others. The pork n kimchi were sauteed together and the tofu was served as a garnishment around it. It’s somewhat understandable if a restaurant is busy to have slow service, but this place sucked! Yes the food is good, but I’d rather go to Tofu Village or another place where they handle their business…

This is for the BBQ Chicken take out dinner. It was decent but I wished for more chicken flavor and chicken goodness, seemed a bit bland the taste lost in the sauce. Nice portions for the price though. Having said that, their side dishes that came with the food was fantastic. The bean spout, seaweed, and pickled things were fresh without any nasty aftertaste; I was very impressed with the quality. Another plus was the rice that came with the order. It’s some kind of mixed rice similar to red bean rice and it was very moist and tasty, they could have provided regular white rice but this was unexpected, very nice.
Service was ok, the lady was on her cell phone the entire time(looked concerned) but absolutely a no biggie to me(Because, sometime I do the same thing…, no that can’t be…), I didn’t feel neglected despite her being on the phone strangely. Plus one star for the side dishes and rice.

I wanted to go to Old Country noodle but they’re closed on Sundays! So we stopped in here since it was next door. I was craving Old Country’s cold kimchee watery noddles so I tried the one here. Not as good(the noodles reminded me of Chinese-style mei fun and wasn’t satisfyingly chewy) but still delicious and still good on a hot day. The owner and his wife seemed to run the place and she didn’t really speak English but was super sweet to us. I tried to order some sort of pancake and didn’t realize that pancakes and tempura were in the same category: so when I attempted to order a «combination» pancake, it turned out to be tempura of squid, shrimp(frozen kind), squash and onion. My friend Dar K ordered the kalbi but while it tasted fine, it was a bit on the chew side(although not as chew as the one place in the Valley!!!) This place as A-OK although I don’t know if I’d ever crave to go back. There were tons of interesting things on the menu that I didn’t know how to order so maybe they’re known for a special dish? I’ll have to drag Linda K with me and see what she thinks. :) Mysterious items on the menu include«Beef BBQ + Soy Bean Paste Stew + Leaf Wraps», «Spicy Kimchi Stew», «Seasoned Sashimi», «Dogani Plate», «Seasoned Sea Snail» and«Hard-boiled Butterfish»…and so on.
