I bought a prime«prime rib» from VanBall’s for our family’s Christmas dinner. I smoked the roast for three hours with hardwood, then finished it in the oven. This was the best prime rib roast I’ve ever made. The meat was well marbled, tasty, and tinder. You pay for what you get, so if all their meats are of this quality and taste I’ll be back regularly. Keep up the good work VB’s!

Van Ball’s is the best in the area. Don’t be fooled by the junky strip mall where its located, Van Ball’s is top notch. Their staff is knowledgeable, prices are incredibly reasonable, and the meat is never a let down. I always make a trip to VB when I’m on this side of the state. Do yourself a favor and check them out. You will not be disappointed.

They have excellent attention. We were desperate looking for a special cut of the pork and without knowing us, he waited for us after closing because we had gotten lost and when we got there he opened the store to us and gave us the pork. His meat is out of this world it was perfect for my father to cook. It was a holiday weekend and he still waiting around 20 min for us. That is A+ customer service.

Growing up on the Northeast side in the 70’s my parents always got their best meats from Van Ball’s. We drove up Plainfield Ave today on a food finding adventure and stopped in at Van Ball’s. The place had a dry smokey smell that made my mouth water. Fresh Beef Jerky was being pulled from the smoker and my friend and I were both offered a piece by the owner. What an amazing experience. The Jerky was hot and juicy inside, a little singed on the outside, and full of flavor. I bought 1 ½ Lbs. How could I resist? I’d recommend a visit to Van Ball’s to everyone in the Greater Grand Rapids Region. It’s not hard to access, It’s only about ½ mile North of the Plainfield exit on 96. Plainfield has some hidden treasures and this is one of them.

Van Ball’s Prime Beef is my market of choice. I drive from Muskegon to purchase my meats and it is well worth it. I just grilled a marinated flank steak tonight. So juicy, tender and flavorful. It can’t get any better! The butchers are so helpful and friendly. The fact that all their meats are antibiotic free is even more reason to shop here.

I bought the best steak I’ve ever had here. Just walking in makes your mouth water. It’s kind of out of the way for anyone in south east and southwest GR areas, but well worth it. Please don’t be fooled by the lack luster strip mall which it is located in.

Reminds me of my uncle’s butcher shop. Only prime beef, dry cured hams with tons of flavor, chickens from local sources, home made sausages, hormone free pork, this is the real deal. If you want meat the way it used to be, go here. Doesn’t look like much, but it’s a working butcher shop, and the people are very nice and helpful. Family owned and operated. An excellent place, and well worth the drive for us. Small selection of condiments, etc and some frozen duck and veal selections. Easy to miss, as it’s in a kinda run down looking strip mall, but seek it out! Highly recommended!

Have been to Van Ball’s a number of times. We get their USDA Prime new York strips, rib-eyes, porterhouses, and filets. Have been pleased everytime. We usually get them custom cut. There is another place called Meat Market near us in Allendale MI, but the meat there is ok compared to Van Ball’s — it’s worth the drive for what they have to offer. Price is very reasonable at around $ 16.99/lb for the strips… looking to grace our Christmas dinner with a 3lb Chateaubriand from Van Ball’s Prime Beef this year! They only accept cash or check.

I need to echo the praise for Van Ball’s! Tops in quality prime beef and their homade sausages are amazing. In addition they offer alot of the little stuff that usually means another stop to pick up. The freezer also features a variety of the«Onion Crock» soups. Try, em. NOTE: NODEBITORCREDITACCEPTED

This is the best-kept secret in Grand Rapids. You’d never guess from its location in a largely-vacant strip mall, but Van Ball’s serves the best meat in the region. I grew up on their bratwurst and haven’t found any others that come close. Same goes for their steaks and their bacon. Each time I’m in Grand Rapids, I fill up my cooler before heading home to Ann Arbor. Van Ball’s excellent service matches their excellent meats. The same crew is behind the counter each time. We usually end up talking about the weather, our gardens and the best way to prepare any given piece of meat. I always leave with a smile on my face. Just remember to bring your cash. They don’t take credit cards!
