Computer Center of Hayward

I give my highest praise to these guys! In particular to Carlos (one of the techs). I brought my custom high-​end gaming PC to them and Carlos did an awesome job diagnosing what was wrong with it. Ultimately, I ended up purchasing a brand new motherboard and he offered to reinstall it for a very reasonable price. I think all together I paid $ 100 — which was worth the trouble because I had no idea what was wrong with it.
I now have a reliably running computer that will last me for the next five years. I will definitely go to these guys in the future for any computer needs! :)

Knowledgable and helpful staff. Fixed my computer quickly. Lost one screw on the case otherwise perfect.

Dan is the man! He helped my son, who is a disabled veteran with his crazy Alienware PC. It was so corrupted with viruses, but Dan saved the day! His extensive knowledge, kindness, and professional courtesy are amazing, along with utterly beyond fair pricing. We will take our PCs no where else. You guys are the BEST!

Ross helped diagnose my laptop logic board issue which persisted after replacing the battery in his shop. He gave me a way to power up my machine until i could save money for a new logic board on ebay, which he helped pick out because i couldnt leave my CPU with the shop since i live in LA. He was helpful, friendly, old school apple classic! I only paid for the battery which he even discounted.

The first time I took my Mac desktop to Computer Center of Hayward was when it under warranty. It was properly repaired then and has been running well for a number of years. At the time I was thrilled to discover that this place is an Apple authorized repair center because it meant that I did not have to take my Mac to an Apple Genius Bar. For me, this was reason enough to go there again because the Genius bars are always very busy and it is often hard to a timely appointment. Now that my Mac desktop is old and out of warranty l took it back there hoping to get some more life out of it. Carlos went out of his way to help me. When it was discovered that my Merriam Webster Unabridged English dictionary that I use all the time was no longer supported on the software update (10.9), he came up with a solution to this problem. Carlos installed the old operating system on an external hard drive so that I now have the best of both worlds. My machine runs better now on 10.9 and I am happy to report that I can use my unabridged dictionary. Kudos to Computer Center of Hayward and Carlos.

Second visit with my old (2008) Macbook Pro. Have spent the last month screwing around with this machine, trying to get it to run properly. Nearly any application resulting in the spinning wheel of death. It would only sort of run in «safe mode», which is no way to operate a computer. I was prepared to hear that it would need major surgery, with a logic board suspected. Happily, it worked out far better, thanks to Computer Center of Hayward.
Ross and crew worked on the machine and fixed the problem. They spent far more time on it that they charged me for. Looks like I will get a few more miles out of this old beast.
Thanks Ross and crew! My go to repair center. Hope I don’t need you for a while, but if I do, I will surely be back!

Took my Macbook Pro in for issue. determined it was track pad gone bad. Waited a week for the part which was said to have been lost by Apple shipping… All the while they had this unit, I get it back working but filthy. Customer service to me includes the little things such as a wipe down after servicing. When I mentioned this to the clown at the counter, he just chuckled. Excuse Me? This is ‘customer service’? Back in the 90’s I worked for a musical electronics repair company and would NEVER let a repair leave the shop unless it was cleaner than when it came in.
I hope they have better luck getting return customers that will recommend them to anyone for anything other than changing a light bulb.

Our desktop power supply died. I looked everywhere online to either good prices but long delivery times or high prices shipped soon. I called a couple of electronic stores but no luck there. We remembered the Computer Center here in Hayward so we stopped by with the power supply. They had an exact design but at a much better power and the price was low.

So, my iMac crashed on Saturday morning. I ran the diagnostics on the machine and had a pretty good idea that the hard drive failed (yes it was fully backed up). Unfortunately, the first appointment I could get at the Apple store was for Tuesday afternoon. In addition, I knew they would not be doing the work in-​house, so I would be without the computer for a couple of weeks. So, I opted to take it to Computer Center. They not only replaced the hard drive, but they upgraded it and the RAM as well. The machine was back up and running, better than ever, before I could have even gotten in to talk to someone at the Apple store. In addition, the price seemed very reasonable. Definitely recommend.

Very thankful for Carlos’s service and recommendations. My laptop was knocked off of my coffee table and failed to start-​up. Carlos tried several things to see if he could recover the data on the harddrive. Unfortunately, he was unsuccessful but I sincerely appreciated his efforts and he didn’t charge me for the attempts! He did give me some recommendations and his honest opinion, which I appreciated. I will definitely be brining my laptop back to have the HD replaced within the next couple of weeks.

I had a terrific first experience here; after a frustrating week checking out diagnostic services (& wait times) and speaking with techs at Frys, Best Buy, Radio Shack, anywhere I could think of!
Worked with Carlos when I came in with my 2009 HP laptop (which – ouch, yes it was my fault – I recently allowed to slip off a desk onto the hardwood floor). Was hoping I wouldn’t need to start planning its funeral service; but it DID turn out to be the motherboard (always wondered who came up with that name, a little Trek-​y, like Mothership – but I digress?!).
Thankfully, my hard drive was fine; and he set me right up with an external HD (which I’d inquired about when I came in. Gotta say, I was charged half of what two of the above places quoted. AND he answered lots of innane, not-​so-​tech-​savvy, questions with patience and good humor (might as well use the opportunity to learn as much as I can when I’ve got his undivided attention)!
I’m very thrifty, and was looking to replace it with something pretty bare-​bones; told him I’d been online at the library checking out educator discounts through various orgs, and he offered some great suggestions I’d not thought of, and didn’t throw a bunch of sales pitches my way either!
This is why we go to these places, and what my students often say – «you helped me with knowing what questions to ask, what direction to consider when I don’t know where to start!».
Now I understand why you guys have such a stellar rep!

This is an authorized apple repair store. Do not bother going to the actual apple store and trying to get help, unless you want to wait in an endless line. I got the run around from the apple store. The Apple store kept dodging the fact that they needed to actually take my laptop in the back and run proper tests instead of telling me to replace the hard drive (which i did 2x) and that I needed to do a factory reboot (5x). I dropped off my macbook pro and Computer center of Hayward found the problem in about 1 hour. The cost to repair was about $ 400 less than the apple store so i decided to replace the whole computer. I will always take my computers to these guys. They were fast, friendly, and carefully explained what the problem was. I highly recommend you take your apple here instead of sitting in the apple store and being sold to instead of helped.

Ross is amazing! He’s knowledgeable helpful and prompt. On top of that he’s super easy going. I came here bc I was referred by my father. I was stressed from not having my laptop running and Ross fixed it right as I walked in. I’ll be returning here for all my apple needs!

My laptop just recently started going really slow trying to get to websites. After I ran CCleaner, virus scan and malwarebytes with no virus detected, I decided to take my laptop to the Computer Center of Hayward. I was greeted promptly and Carlos came over to discuss my issues with my laptop. After explaining what I already did, he discovered my hosts file had lots of adware in it. He corrected the hosts file and now my laptop is running fast again. I was in and out of the store in about 30 minutes. Quick fix, fair price and Carlos was great. I will go to them for any future problems with my pc.

I was confused about what computer I should buy. Usually I go to friends for this sort of help, or the internet. I was frustrated and confused by the information I got from both. I ended up buying and returning a machine that didn’t suit me.
What to do? Certainly I wouldn’t find help at Best Buy. Amazon …
I walked into Computer Center and had the great fortune to talk to Carlos about my problems. It was more like a computer therapy session. But I left with lots of useful information, astute guidance and even a bunch of information about things computer related that I had not even thought about.
I went on to buy a computer I love and it is all thanks to Carlos and the confidence he gave me to really demand what I wanted!
There are professionals in the world for a reason. They (can) make our lives better, less stressful etc. I recommend getting professional help before you get to the end of your rope (too many innocent computers have been harmed due to frustration and bad information from the internet and techie friends)!

I used this service to clean up a badly infected computer and Carlos did a wonderful job going way beyond normal. I would recommend Carlos and this service. Excellent value received.

I stopped by this place that I’ve driven by countless times when my laptop (which worked fine the day before) had decided to be unable to locate my hard drive. After checking it myself I noticed that after the last fix up it had at a different shop they forgot to put two screws back in-​the ones that hold in the hard drive.
So I drove to the Computer Center hoping that they wouldn’t charge me a lot for two little old screws and to my surprise he fixed the fairly simple problem AND didn’t even charge me for it.
Anyway I know where I’ll be going if anything else goes wrong with my laptop.

I’ve had a few MacBooks were the hard drive has died. Over the years Ross at computer center has always taken great care of me. Very honest and is great at what he does.
I don’t usual write reviews but recently I’ve had an issue with my macbook pro not starting properly. Ross had recently replaced the HD months before and his diagnostic was showing a bad HD. Ross offered to replace the HD at no cost. But being Saturday it was normal that it wouldn’t be ready until the following monday. Being a college student I needed my computer done sooner.
Ross being the nice guy that he is stayed after hours to replace the HD. After everything was done, it ended up being an issue with a backup.
Ross never charged me. Glad to support this small business. I recommend Computer center to all my friends.

Not really sure what else to say other than I am brutally disappointed with this place.
All the awesome reviews made me feel like I was in good hands taking my infected laptop here to get repaired. Took it in on a Monday and they told me they were slammed and wouldn’t be able to take a look at it until Tuesday.
Ok, thats fine, I get that I have to wait in line if you’re busy, cool with me.
Tuesday rolls around and I dont get a single phonecall, I call to check in and they say they are testing the hard drive.
Ok, thats fine, I get you need to test it to see if its working properly.
Thursday rolls around no phone call, so I call and ask whats going on. Hardrive is fine, it must be a virus, we will run an anti virus and it should be ready tomorrow.
Ok, thats fine, you got it down to a nasty virus, call me tomorrow when its ready.
Saturday rolls around, no one has picked up a phone and called me, I call in…“oh we are still running the anti virus, we are closed on Sunday but it should be finished on Monday.
Ok…I’ve never heard of an anti-​virus removal software that requires 4+ days to run and remove, but ok at least we got it narrowed down and it will be ready.
Monday rolls around, no one has called me, I decide to phone in and see whatsup, they can’t fix it so they are going to do a hard windows re-​install.
Ok, thats fine, go ahead and wipe the operating system, at least it will be functioning again.
Tuesday rolls around, sorry we are still working on it, weird I’ve never heard of reinstalling an OS take 30+ hours… maybe it will be done by the end of the day.
Pick up my Laptop in the closing minutes of Tuesday (once again no one bothered to call).
Sitting here typing from my desktop as my laptop has just failed within 24 hours of getting it back and is exactly where we started.
I’m not sure what else to say, I mean I get stuff happens but god damn man… it doesnt take 10 days to run an anti virus and re-​install an OS, it shouldn’t be so difficult for people to pick up a phone and keep you in the loop, and when it DOES take this long it should at least… you know… be fixed?
Cliff Notes:
— Laptop repair took over 10 days.
— Staff never once bothered to call and keep up to date, had to constantly call in.
— After this ridiculous time-​frame, laptop is still broken.
I’ll be dropping it off again to see what they have to say for themselves and maybe ill change the review after its actually repaired but overall I’m pretty pissed off that I just wasted 2 weeks with a company that made me feel like I was on the back burner the entire time and didn’t even fix the problem.
