As a branch of the Henderson Libraries, the Gibson Library seeks to cultivate a literate community by providing every citizen free access to books and information resources, as well as state-of-the-art technology that supports work, school and recreational activities. Located at the corner of W. Lake Mead Parkway and Water Street, the library has a comprehensive collection of over 100,000 titles including fiction, non-fiction, children’s and audio visual materials.
History
Established in 1989.
Henderson Libraries oldest location, the James I. Gibson Library first opened in March 1989 on Water Street in Downtown Henderson. The library moved to a brand-new 19,000 square foot building in the Lake Mead Crossing Shopping Center in July 2010. The new facility features a drive-thru window for requested material, a 36 workstation computer lab, a teen area, study rooms, and additional space for programs and other activities.
