Paseo Verde Library

I’m getting acquainted with living in Henderson and I found a library!
I can’t remember the last time I’ve been to a library! I’ve been trying to get to this library all month to return a book for my grandma and to sign up for a library card but never got the chance until a few days ago LOL!
This library is huge! Not to mention they have a full on café!! I have never been to a library that offers a café! You can sit down, order food and coffee drinks! It looked very nice and quaint inside! The girl at the counter walked me through the process and I got my card within 5 minutes! I went to the Help desk and asked about certain books and they broke it down to me by numbers and walked me over to it as well!
There’s self-​checkout so no need to wait in line again! This library was so easy to navigate around and I’m definitely coming back! ^_​_​_​^

I like big books and I cannot like– big libraries make my eyes go wide! Paseo Verde is clear across town from me, but it’s a great library. I beeline straight for the new releases (make an immediate left at the entrance), but they have a massive kids/​YA selection too.
This library gets bonus points for having tons of community events and an on-​site coffee shop– if I only lived closer, I’d probably spend entire weekends here clearing them out of NY best sellers and peppermint mochas.
Non-​Henderson Residents: note that the library system is different, you will require a different membership and card to check out here. Make sure you can return your books on time to a Henderson library or you’ll obviously get late fees.

Being that today is Halloween, the concept of trick or treat lingers in my head. I started to realize that when you live near a good library that it is trick or treat all year long. The trick is to suspend reality for a period of time to enjoy the treat of a literary adventure. The Paseo Verde Library is a palace holding hundreds of literary adventures waiting for an adventurous reader.
The Paseo Verde Library is a unit of the Henderson Library system. It is different from the Las Vegas — Clark County Library system in that only Henderson residents are permitted to borrow books.
The library blends in with the beautiful Green Valley Ranch Master planned community. The library is a nicely designed building inside and out. The parking lot is large making it easy to find a parking space. The parking lot couldn’t be any more protected being contiguous to the Henderson Police Department. As soon as you step inside the library, you feel that you have entered a palace holding books, DVDs, CDs, computer terminals, and numerous media. It is a spacious library. Upon walking in there is a coffee shop to the right. I believe this is the only library in the Las Vegas Valley with a coffee shop. Inside the library one of the first sights is the colossal children’s library. There is a wall of new books to the left with a large library services counter on the right. In the center of the library are the computers. I think that having the computers in the middle of the library is advantageous because you don’t have the closed in feeling that the computer rooms create. The library’s shining moment is the south room with glass walls overlooking the Las Vegas Strip. This room is more than a view of the Strip. It is a literary shrine to the Las Vegas Strip. The bookshelves feature volumes of books that tell the story of the Las Vegas Strip and the people who helped build the city. The books in the south room range from Las Vegas to the State of Nevada. This is one of the premier selections of Las Vegas reading material in the valley.
The key to this Palace of books and media is a Henderson Library card. With this card, you are able to choose from a large selection of books. Speaking of books, a major difference from the Las Vegas — Clark County Library system is that they use the duey decimal system in place of letters. Instead of music being «ML», here it might be «784.05.»
My books of choice are biographies, rock & roll history, travelogues, and American history. This is the first library that I patronized in the Las Vegas region. When I visited my brother here as a tourist in 2003, we stopped here. A year later when I joined my brother in Vegas between school and a job, I ‘d spend some of my idle time in the library. This is the library that granted me my library card. Since 2004, I have rarely left the library empty handed.
When it comes to CDs, the majority of the Las Vegas — Clark County libraries beat Paseo Verde library on selection. There are some drawers toward the back holding CDs.
In the future I there will be more trick or treating at the Paseo Verde Library. But, first I need to finish reading some of the books that I borrowed from the Las Vegas — Clark County Library system.

I’ve been back to school for a little over a year now! I’ve been coming to the Paseo Verde Library since late February. It’s a great opportunity for me to go in and get my homework done. Their staff are always there to help, if needed, and have quiet areas where I can sit and concentrate. The wall where it has mainly windows provide an excellent view of the valley. I would always recommend this location to come in to study, work (if applicable), or other related needs. Way to go Paseo Verde Library!!! Kudos to you!

One of the best libraries I have had the pleasure of enjoying. They have a play area for toddlers and young children equipped with board books and toys. They refresh the toys every year it seems. Bring your hand sanitizer, though: the germs are rampant. The tables and computer area just got new furniture, and is always kept clean and tidy. The book selection for children is fantastic! If you are on the goal to read 1000 books before kindergarten you can easily do it here. Check out 7 books a week and you will never repeat the same book here. (unless you want to of course.) The DVD selection is also very good, but the time you can check the DVDs out is usually limited to just one week.
They have wonderful FREE story time on the weekends. The story time is fun because it is not just teachers and librarians reading books to the children, but also singing songs and doing physical activities.
They also do movie nights and activities for older children. This library is a *GEM* and a wonderful place for learning AND fun.
A small café is attached to the library with coffees, other drink options and sandwiches/​snacks. One of the few libraries where they allow you to bring your coffee inside.
P. S. Free Wi-​Fi is a plus for the parents to do work or surf the web while the kids read and play, too.

Great library! Staff is friendly and helpful and it’s nice and quiet! For some reason the internet goes down between 2 – 3 every once in a while. Overall, great place to study without distractions!

I love this library! It’s in a great location and they even have a place to order food/​drinks inside. The food is cheap too! I take the little girl I nanny for here all the time. She loves to look for books and then we sit down and read. I think they usually close at 6 pm.

I’m here almost everyday during my lunch breaks and it is pretty awesome. The traditional «keep quiet, you’re in a library» has gone by the wayside at most libraries, but the Paseo Verde library created a reading space where quiet is mandatory. It also has floor to ceiling windows that overlooks the city. The only downside is the rundown furniture in there. As for books, they have a wide selection. Great library!

This is easily becoming one of my favorite libraries. There are always open computers and you can use them for up to an hour & half. Printing is quick and easy.
Staff is very friendly & knowledgeable. Good selection of books and etc. They also have a super cute café that I haven’t tried yet… But I know I will sooner or later.

Best place to take the kids throughout the summer, or year round! With your library card entitles you to 90 minutes of free computer and Internet use per day. The building is clean and the staff is very nice and helpful.
Just keep it down in there!

Brought my nieces here for a morning activity in the summer. I’ve never been to a busier library. There had to have been an event going on because there were at least 30 children there with their parents. It was so exciting for my nieces to just people watch and make new friends.
When the library isn’t busy, the children’s section is at the perfect height for children to explore on their own. One whole section of the shelves has the books displayed with the cover facing out. Great! And, when (…if) a book does get chosen, there is a cozy spot to sit and read.

This library is really nice. Always has events, quiet rooms, a café whose food and drink the library allows you to bring in. It’s really an awesome place. Also has a cute little outside area for this who enjoy to get their reading on while they get their sun on!

Just got my library card today! They have tons of online options for books and rentals… Everyone should have a library card.
I rarely go to the library and stay there, but I love their online services. You can order books or materials that you want and have them sent over to the library so you can just go and pick them up. Plus you can renew easy or get online readers on an ipad… so easy and convenient!
The staff is so friendly and super helpful! Everything is clean and organized.

Pretty average library but it does the job.
I don’t really check out books so most of this review is based on using the library as a study spot/​computer lab. There really isn’t anything stand out or impressive about the library, and on the flip side there really aren’t any glaring issues either. Its small library located right behind the Green Valley Recreation center — note: this library is NOT on Paseo Verde despite its name, its actually about a block down from Paseo Verde on Green Valley Parkway.
I noticed a lot of young kids and children coming here thus this isn’t that quiet of a library. Many of the computers are taken up by kids playing games, but there are usually plenty of openings. There are 3 study rooms which are almost always booked up — if you want to use them make reservations. Fortunately there is plenty of study space, the staff is friendly and helpful and the restaurants/​shops across street are a nice plus. Don’t expect too much.

Definitely one of the best Henderson libraries! It’s a bit loud sometimes, but there’s study rooms to use if need be. About 40 computers or more to use so no need to reserve one unless you need one right away or its busy hour (Bob Miller Middle Schoolers come here after school).
Other than that, the staff is quick and pleasant!

Oh My Goodness… Libraries have evolved so much, totally in line with technology. Yep, I was super amazed how techy they have gotten. I went straight to the front desk, the staff directed me to a computer to register for a card. Trees saved, yes! then after I click submit, he handed me my cool strong plastic library card (1 credit card size, and one for the key ring). Then, when I picked out my book, I just scan my library card, then scan my book. A receipt is printed with the day my book is due.
There is also a nice, small and comfy coffee shop so right when you enter the library, you can smell the coffee aroma. I love this library… I forgot that instead of paying for a book that I may only read once, I can check one out w/​out a fee! Thanks to Debbie N to remind me that some things in life are free…

Great library! How can anyone not love a library that has a snack bar?!? Perhaps, I am overly in love with this library because it is where I studied there for the NV bar and passed. Again, I have been to most of the libraries in Las Vegas and Henderson. Here are the things that make this particular library great:

Quiet places to study
Less quiet places to hang out
OMG-​have you seen the view from the «reading room»? Need a few minutes to contimplate life, staring out the floor to ceiling windows will help, I promise!
Great kids area-​puzzles, games, computers. (my husband even got hit on there, which is totally funny to me!)
Henderson hit a home run with this place!

It’s been many years since I stepped foot in a library. Libraries are like candy stores for the mind.
One of my all time favorite movie quotes is «TV is the opium of the masses.» God knows I am an addict of the digital plasma box.
But seeing how high speed libraries have become I think I can use this amazing place to kick the habit… for good? I don’t know it depends on what HBO comes up with next.
Back to the Library. I remember the libraries on my youth have the noise level of a church. What I saw today I hope is not the norm.
I saw a dude sitting there at a computer with headphones on while I was looking for any random book to catch my attention. This same dude logged off took his headphones off and proceeded to ripple the waters of silence with a bunch of useless bravado.
I followed the sound of his voice thinking that I might be able to sham him into being more quiet. The chase was short lived. He shut up and orbit around and then let loose again. SShhhhhhhhhhhh little loud man.
I checked out several books including «Mac for Dummies», «Leading the Charge» written by a USMC General that it was my pleasure to hear speak and a book on cats.
During the check out process, card was expired. The staff was quick to assist and point out some new features to me about the capabilities. They included emails to remind you when to return your books. You can even renew as long as something is not on hold from your computer at home.
Time to cancel cable… but only after «Entourage», «Boardwalk Empire» and «Game of Thorns.» The return to the library and randomly learn about whatever catches my eye.
