Orlandis Wells

Dr Wells is nice as a person but I have never had a great experience here. I find the front desk rude & very unhelpful. They do not return phone calls, don’t follow up with patients & fail to return test results. Also, for whatever reason their office is open like 3 days a week & closed during lunches (understandable) but if your closed on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, AND Monday, and lunch hours… when do patients come in? People have jobs too… I never really see anyone in his office, but always end up waiting about a half hour to see the DR & then maybe 15 – 20 minutes in the exam room.
I know most people only write reviews when its something negative, but I can say I have not been happy with the experiences here.

I hate to bump star ratings down after glimmering reviews but this one must be done. For various health reasons I needed to visit Dr. Wells more than I would have liked. On numerous occasions I had to wait unreasonably long in his waiting room to be seen. On one occasion I waited in the actual exam room for almost an hour past my appointment time
Every time I would see Dr. Wells he was extremely friendly and personable, albeit aloof. He would mention reasons for my visit and results of my labwork, which I had access to, but it always sounded like a guess. «You were here last time for (enter reason here in the form of a question) or your homocysteine level was (enter number here in the form of a question) and each time it was just a guess, and usually incorrect. It was almost as though he didn’t review my chart prior to seeing me, but was treating me based on «educated guesses» that he was recalling from memory. He would play up certain things based on these guesses… «well your homocysteine level was elevated (and it actually wasn’t). I felt like it was a good thing I’m very involved and informed about my own health because he obviously wasn’t.
His office had very little involvement with insurance and warning me about what would and wouldn’t be covered. Some offices take a hands off approach about that… the, «it’s your responsibility to follow up with your insurance company prior to receiving care or treatment» attitude. Others will do the footwork for you and let you know what to expect financially. Obviously, everyone prefers the latter. I have since started seeing another doctor in a different practice and they gave me a sheet of what expenses to expect to incur for labwork, office visits, and various testing. They did all the footwork for me and took the guesswork away. Dr. Wells ordered bloodwork for me that was investigational and I had to pay a lot of money out of pocket for it. I didn’t know that and although it’s not their job to keep track of these things, it would be the nice thing to do for patients… I would have had it done either way but it would have been nice not to be surprised by the bill from the lab in the mail. The new practice had that particular lab on the sheet and the exact cost I would expect to pay for it. How nice!
Dr Wells has a friendly personality and a seemingly good bedside manner that can make patients feel very comfortable. I think he’d be a great choice for routine GYN visits. But for anything further, he wasn’t a good fit for me.

Dr. Wells has been practicing further east near Boulder Highway and has recently moved to the Wigwam address. He is a super nice man. I had to go in for my pap smear exam, you know, the test all women just LOVE (sarcasm here) since the test involves scraping the cervix. Anyways, on my first visit the office was disorganized since the y has just moved. They were even having problems with the phone lines. The staff was super nice and when I went into the waiting room it took awhile to see the doctor but I soon found out why. We spent a good 15 minutes talking about my general health, why I was there, and if I had any other questions. It was really nice. I found Dr. Wells to be quiet funny but then again we are both Southern transplants to the area and at the end of our talk we were exchanging recipes for grits… lol.
The pap smear was quick and relatively painless. I did have to call back to get my test results but not a big deal. Overall I was pretty happy with the experience and I loved the doctor.
