Timothy Sauter MD – at Legacy Women’s Health

It makes me sad to write this review, but I feel that others need to be aware of my experience. Dr. Sauter and Dr. Leon delivered my first child in 2015 via C-​section and I had no complications, so I trusted them. I was pregnant again this year and at 10 weeks I had some bleeding and believed I had miscarried. I called the doctor’s office and they had me come in for an ultrasound and checkup. I had a trans vaginal ultrasound and the tech said I did have a miscarriage and everything had passed. Dr. Leon is my primary OBGYN and she was not present during the ultrasound. I did have a checkup with her afterwards and she said I was all clear. As I was checking out, the nurse told me that I should have another blood draw to confirm my HCG levels were going down. I did that before I left and assumed that I was okay since I didn’t hear any different afterwards. Seven days later, I woke up with stomach cramps and I felt hot, then cold, like the flu. I stood up and passed out on the floor. I laid down again for a half hour, then tried standing again. I passed out cold another 2 times, so my husband (thank God he was home) called an ambulance and I was rushed to the hospital. When I got there, my blood pressure was in the 40’s and my temperature was reading 85 degrees. Long story short, I hadn’t miscarried, but I had an ectopic pregnancy and my fallopian tube had ruptured. By the time I got to the hospital, I had already lost 3 liters (60%) of my blood into my abdomen. They ER was desperate to save me and immediately started a blood transfusion to stabilize me (I was «critical»), then rushed me into surgery. Thank God for the amazing doctors, nurses and surgeons that saved my life! They said I was very lucky and would have bled to death within an hour had I not gotten to the hospital. I have gotten several medical opinions and this is something that Dr. Leon should have checked for!!! It is standard practice to look for an ectopic pregnancy, especially when a woman thinks she miscarried, but didn’t have a lot of bleeding. The baby was an inch and a half long and would’ve been hard to miss had they properly checked me. I could have avoided this life threatening event and possibly saved my fallopian tube. The kicker is that the office called my husband during my emergency surgery and told them that I should come in the office in the next week because my HCG levels were high. What?! That should have been a red flag and I should’ve gotten a call several days before this! Bottom line, they were negligent and it almost cost me my life and my 16 month old son his mommy.

When I first moved here from out of state, 09/​2014, I was almost five months pregnant. NO other doctor (in network with Aetna) in Las Vegas would take me in for prenatal care as a new patient except Dr. Sauter. I originally wanted a female doctor but Dr. Leon, his partner, was booked up so they scheduled me with him. I always felt comfortable with him though. He seems very shy but that made me more comfortable as I am shy too. I never had a problem with him or his staff. I never waited very long for my appointments. Blood work is done there. Never a problem with billing.
Well In January 2015 Dr. Sauter was out of the country and his partner Dr. Leon delivered my son at St. Rose Dominican hospital. She was amazing as well! She followed up with is the next day on her day off. Now I am pregnant again and will see Dr. Leon again. Either doctor you see you cannot lose. I was very adamant about having a C-​section as a last resort (because some doctors really push you into having them) and both doctors practice the same way. C-​sections are their very last resort but if they have to do it, they are well trained. I never ended up having one thank God! His office is a 20 – 30 min drive for me but soooo worth it!

Sadly this office does not know how to book appointments! I called 05÷02÷16 to make an appointment they told me 2 month wait for a Dr or about a 2 week wait for a nurse practitioner so I chose NP. I called today to verify my appointment since they never sent me a reminder and they had me in the system but no appointment. They would not squeeze me in or take into consideration I took a vacation day just to see a DR. Im beyond upset with their professionalism and if you do go here call them each week to make sure they dont LOSE your appointment! SO SAD AND SUCH A WASTE OF TIME!!!

The receptionist has a bad attitude if you don’t like your job why don’t you quit! She’s a bad representation, the dr seems good but she’s just rude

I thought I had already wrote a Unilocal review :) The ladies here are beyond incredible! They just make you feel loved and I look forward to seeing their smiling faces at every appointment. I’m grateful to have found such a great obgyn!

I echo the very positive comments about the great staff in this office. They are responsive, caring, friendly, and most of all helpful. I would particularly like to recognize Dr. Ruiz Leon’s nurse, Mary Ann. She is exceptional – is patient, takes the time to explain, is thorough in her explanations, and really goes out of her way to support the doctor in ensuring an excellent patient experience. I wish all nurses were like her.
There was one office visit where I did have to wait. Dr. Ruiz Leon had to leave to deliver a baby at the hospital. As we all know, being the woman in labor, we would want our own doctor there. However, the difference was the staff let me know at the time that she had to leave, the reason, and offered me options – to wait, to reschedule, or to see the nurse practitioner. I elected to wait (estimated time I was given was 45 minutes; the doctor returned in 50). Both she and the nurse were apologetic about the wait time and thanked me for standing by. I don’t think you can ask for any more in that type of situation; they handled it extremely well, given the circumstances.

This office is great. I delivered my first baby with them. I usually saw Dr. Sauter — he & his nurse are excellent. Very caring & thorough, explains things well, answers all questions, really seems to care & seems extremely smart. They always have students, which is great that they are contributing back to the medical field. Dr. Leon delivered my baby, and she was wonderful, too. Marie Mitchell is also great, as are the other nurses, the ultrasonographer, and the venipuncturist. It is very convenient that they pull lab samples in house. Most of the receptionists have been very friendly and helpful as well — only once I spoke with a rude one on the phone.
Another plus — very short wait times for appointments, in my experience. Their day seems to flow smoothly.

I love Dr Sauter. He was so great all through my prenatal care and c-​section. He, not the nurse, held me while I got my anesthesia. That was a first for me and really meant a lot. I really love the staff from the receptionists to the nurses and nurse practitioners. Everybody here is great.

Timothy Sauter and his staff are real class acts. He’s now delivered two wonderful boys for us and has a real down to earth gentle approach. During both deliveries I got to cut the ambilical cords and be a big part of the delivery. Real professional and knows what he’s doing. He also made it a point to do a personal follow up visit to my wife at the hospital once the delivery was over. Highly recommend! Las Vegas could use a few more of these real mccoy’s.

I must say that i loved coming here for my annual check-​up! Very friendly staff! The dr that helped me was awsome! I highly recommend her!!! Her name is Dr Mee! Very friendly, she performed a pap and she was super gentle and made me feel comfortable even though for me is a very embarrassing! I appreciate everyone there and i definetly will be back! Thanks!

I am so disappointed with this place. I have been a patient for over 5 years. I went to refill my BC and the pharmacy told me it was expired. I called, made an appointment and the soonest they could get me in was after my current BC would run out. I asked if they could call the pharmacy and let me have one more refill before my appointment so that I could stay on schedule with my BC. MARIE MITCHELL REFUSED! Five years and that’s how they treated me! Unbelievable. I only continued to go there because they were so close to my house and work. Service was never great, always packed and not the most aesthetically pleasing place (more of a feeling of Urgent Care), but I disregarded that since I only had to go once a year. Not anymore. Don’t expect to get quality or caring doctors if you choose to go with them.

I used to kind of like this office. They are too busy now and not only is it a month or sometimes 2 month wait to get in, last time I was there they ordered a bunch of tests and assured me that my insurance covered them all. I didn’t realize that Dr Sauter’s office didn’t even bother calling my insurance to find out they didn’t cover. $ 700 later and counting… when I asked them about it, the billing girl just said, «you signed paperwork stating that you are responsible». I get it. I know I am, but why do you even ask for my ins card if you’re not even going to call them? Looking for a new office.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Sauter since 2001 and would never go anywhere else. He’s done multiple procedures on me, including my hysterectomy and everything always went well. He always takes the time to sit and talk to me and never makes me feel as if he’s in a rush to get out of the room. BEST doctor ever!!!

I switched to Dr. Sauter at 20 weeks after a horrible experience with another OB. My pregnancy had issues and I ended up delivering 3 months early. I was in the hospital for around 2 weeks on bedrest and everyday, he would come in and check on me, check on how the ultrasound went, etc. He didn’t miss a day. When I had to emergency deliver at 5am, he was there, ready to go. He supported me and comforted me during a very shocking and rough time and I will always be grateful to have found him. After the delivery, I was in the hospital a lot since my son was in the NICU and he would always stop to say hello, ask about my son. I had a few issues post delivery and again, he and his office, were so great, double checked that all was OK after diagnosis, etc. I’ve never had a problem scheduling, never with billing or anything like that. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Sauter has been my dr for almost 6 years and i couldn’t be happier with my choice. He’s kind, gentle and a fantastic dr. With my last child I had to have a c-​section because he was breech and dr sauter was so patient with all of my questions and worries (I had had 2 natural deliveries before this last one) and the surgery went great and my incision was small and has healed great, which I’m certain has to do with the fact that he’s a great surgeon! Highly recommend him! Also great great staff!

I love this office and the nurses and staff.
However, Dr S was not as impressive. Every appointment he would not even look at me. Not personal at all. Never informed me I had gestational diabetes and never informed my sister until day of delivery that she had preeclampsia.
I defiantly feel I was pushed into getting a c section which is not something I wanted to do originally.
Expecting baby number two and I will not return to him which is such a shame because I love the ladies in the office «/​

I love this office! The entire staff is extremely friendly and always helpful. I was referred by my best friends and do not regret coming at all. I would love to give 5 stars but it is hard to get an appointment with Dr. Sauter. But other than that i love this office. l

While I have a positive review I do want to say the wait times are long. It’s common to not be seen until 30 minutes after your appointment time. At least for me that has happened several times. Dr. Sauter is great. He never pushed any interventions on me as a patient and was very accepting of my birth plan as well as supportive to the fact I wanted a natural unmedicated low intervention childbirth. Unfortunately he wasn’t available to deliver my baby when I did go into labor but his partner was. I definitely would recommend him as an OB.

Dr. Sauter is awesome, and that is why you may have trouble getting in to see him. When we found out my son was gone before delivery, our world was destroyed. We found out after going to the hospital when my wife had not felt him move for a while. Dr. Turner was on duty there, and all she could say while looking at the ultrasound was, «I should be seeing something here.» She is part of a practice we left because we wanted a midwife instead, and she seemed glad that he was gone. My midwife called Dr. Sauter, and he came right away late at night. We were not his patients, but that did not cause any hesitation on his part. He tried to help us deliver naturally, but there were cord complications, so he delivered our son by c section. He was a so kind and capable when we needed him. If you want a doctor to deliver your baby, get him if you can.
