The Westin Washington Dulles Airport

Room: Beautiful room. Very clean and comfortable. No complaints.
Wifi: I purchased my reservation through Priceline, so it did not come with free wifi. This was the main low part of this trip.
Food: The dining section has good food, but incredibly overpriced. But what else do you expect out of a hotel restaurant. The servers were particularly kind.
Service: I didn’t run into other problems like the other reviewers. Every interaction I had with staff was great.
Surroundings: Although there is nothing to go see around the area, there are beautiful walking trails surrounding the hotel. I took a long walk around near the lake, over the bridge, and looped to the surrounding apartment complexes (all of which were safe, residential units). The area has a San Jose feel to it.
Overall, I am very impressed and hope to stay here again.

So many customer service issues. I cannot believe this is a Westin.
Upon check-​in the rude person at the front desk said we couldn’t have a king room all three nights even though we called ahead to make sure this room type was available for us. After arguing with me, he still gave me the wrong room (2 doubles) so we had to go back downstairs to get the correct room. He claimed to be the night manager. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was true given the poor quality of this hotel.
We got to the room, the air didn’t seem to work. We were able to get it low enough to sleep and decided to deal with it in the morning. I went down to the front desk in the morning and asked them to have someone look at it while we were out for the day. We came back 7 hours later and it wasn’t fixed. We had to ask a second time, at this point it was FINALLY fixed.
Maid service seemed to be spotty. I had to track someone down in the hall one of the morning because there was no extra toilet paper in the room.
We attempted to go to the pool on a Tuesday morning. We used our key, went in… the spa was already on. Relaxed in here for about a half hour and were drying off when someone came in saying to us we shouldn’t be in there. The pool is closed. Signs in the pool area state hours are 6−10am and 5−9pm on the weekdays. I told him we used our key, if it was closed the door shouldn’t have let us in. He wouldn’t even let us dry off and shewed us out of the area.
To sum up, I have never been happier to leave a hotel in my life. I will NEVER EVER stay here again. I don’t know on what planet this is considered a 4 star property.

* They charge a ridiculous amount of money for things that are usually free at other hotels (e.g., they charged over $ 3 for a very small container of shaving cream).
* It was very difficult to find food nearby.
* The shower is not as great as it looks.
* Signage was horrible. I couldn’t find my way around the hotel. I constantly had to ask staff where everything was located.
* There was techno music playing in the hallway outside my room at 4:45AM. Fifteen minutes after I called the front desk, staff arrived to fix the problem.
* The pool is only open on weekdays from 5PM to 9PM. Seriously? That’s ridiculous.

I stayed here overnight after my friends wedding. A better decision than driving after a night of partying and drinking.
Classy interior and pleasant staff. Also loved the workout facility. I slept very well (the alcohol might’ve had something to do with it) and had no problems checking out.
I think it’s outrageous they charge for wi-​fi and the pool/​hot tub should be open ²⁴⁄₇ like the workout room. While the breakfast buffet was decent, I didn’t think it was worth the $ 15.90 I was charged. Plus my hotel room key had problems and had to be exchanged three different times. The staff was helpful but I kept going back and forth from the room to the front desk, kind of irritating.
But I had a place to sleep and be safe. I guess if I look at the big picture, the experience served its purpose.

The Good:
Very friendly staff.
Only about 10 minute drive to nearest metro.
The Bad:
Pool & Whirlpool is useless for business travelers. Pool is only open after 9am on weekends. Whirlpool takes an additional 30 minutes to open for some reason.
Maid service needs improvement. On multiple days they did not replenish the items needed to make coffee, replace the soap or shampoo.
Sub par breakfast buffet. The food is not too bad. However they serve the exact same breakfast items every single morning.
The Ugly:
Television channels don’t work. Most channels say no signal. This is ironic considering they’re walking distance from a Time Warner Cable building.

Stayed here for business trip. I really like Westin this one has a really pretty lobby and lots of conference rooms. Got it with a great price using Priceline.

My wife and I are SPG old members. We only stay at SPG hotels and we have stayed at SPG hotels all over the US and beyond. We chose this Westin as it is near the airport and we have business and some personal travels near there. As we arrive, there is no one to accept our keys for the car. We waited 10 minutes and not one approached us. We decided to go check in. As we check in, I handed my keys to the receptionist who tell me they are not valet and I need to give my keys to the valet service. I tell him no valet is outside and I have been waiting. He tells me someone will be on the way. So I proceed to check in and he fails to offer us our SPG rewards. I ask him about them and he had no idea about them. I finish checking in and give my keys to the valet who finally came. We went to our room which was disgusting!!! It is a non-​smoking rook but it disgustingly smelled like smoke! We check the bathroom and dirty towels were on the floor. Very upset with this Westin and will never stay here again!!! Ever!!! This hotel truly brings down the Westin name!!!

Most SPG places you can count on for being clean, remodeled, great ambiance, relaxing, good amenities, and friendly staff. This place is no different, and SPG like all it’s properties has done a good job. However, it not top tier in terms of overall packaged amenities. This is primarily a business oriented Hotel as why it’s located near the airport like most of those that are. It’s not a destination Hotel, but if you have meetings or need to conduct business its just enough for Small to Medium Sized Businesses. For larger organizations of 2, 000 employees with Convention or Meeting needs you might consider a bigger hotel with a larger pool of Restaurants & Meeting Rooms.

Pleasantly surprised. Booked on Hotwire to avoid an early morning drive to catch a flight. $ 59/​night!
Easy parking. Large lobby. Friendly staff.
The room was small but certainly adequate. Nice large shower too! Comfy bed.
View overlooked the dumpster but for the price, it was a great deal! Plus I got to sleep in instead of fighting DC traffic to the airport.

As a platinum member who has stayed over 100 nights at this property, on the bright side, the general manager Rawan personally provides the best service I’ve ever had at any SPG property and really goes out of her way to make customers happy. She is the best!
However, one star due to the terrible, lackluster service provided by pretty much the rest of the staff — the worst of any SPG property I’ve ever stayed at in my life. No concept of service whatsoever. For instance, the absolutely unhelpful desk staff and on duty manager sent me out in really bad snowstorm at 2am to find another hotel instead of just checking me into my prepaid reservation (it wasn’t possible to add a day to it given it was already the date I already paid for). Given the number of nights I’ve spent at this property this year, that is shameful. Finally checked into a room tonight that had clearly been smoked in — disgusting. Also people sitting in chairs loitering in the halls = creepy.
Breakfast buffet is pretty bad, and they never provide any variation. Food provided in room service is also extremely inconsistent — order is often wrong. Location is very isolated. Housekeeping doesn’t refill even the most basic shower amenities without calling them. #customerloses

This is my 2^nd stay at a Westin hotel in the Reston area this week. My first stay for business at the Westin Reston Heights in which the front desk was not personable and seemed really confused, and now here at the Westin Dulles Airport the room «amenities» which I call «basics» were really subpar. I’ve always heard that Reston was a supposedly an upscale area, however based on the lodging in the area, I’m definitely not a fan or impressed. I’ve stayed business class is less «swankier» areas and received much better service and rooms than these two Westin/​SPG properties in this area.
The heating unit in my room was super noisy and every 5 minutes the tv lost its tv signal. Really Westin, it’s 2016!?! Please Upgrade your rooms and your room service menu. I was charged $ 26 for six frozen chicken tenders, carrots and celery.
I would complain to the front desk, however I choose to voice my opinion by selecting another chain for a good nights rest, a tv that works and decent food in the future.

Clean room. Excellent service. Good food.
Ordered room services for dinner and breakfast. Prices were surprisingly reasonable. Food was okay for dinner, but excellent for breakfast. They charge delivery fees of $ 3 and will add service charge of 18%. So watch for that.
I stayed with my kids. They loved it here. The room was spacious with a nice view overlooking a small pond. The double beds were pretty big, too.
It has a nice, indoor pool. Not Olympic sized. But, not two bath tubs put together, either. Great for kids. Has a lifeguard, too.

Wow. What a disappointment. Front end staff appears disorganized and generally confused. Valet is a bit of an enigma. He’s visible occasionally and not always when you need him. Restaurant staff is disinterested during breakfast. WiFi was terrible. Certain channels on the TV in my room didn’t work, all of the ESPN stations. (???). Gym– 3 of the 5 treadmills were broken. No hot water in the shower unless I turned on the hot water in the bathroom sink for 1 minute, then turned on shower. If I then turned off sink, shower goes cold.
Plus– housekeeping was spot on. Good job!
Bottom line– don’t stay here. There are lots of other choices around and you should use them instead of this property.

The staff here is wonderful, but the room we had had a very foul odor. It wasn’t there the first night but it was there the second night and that was my honeymoon night. We had not been in the room all day and by the time we returned it was there. My husband couldn’t get use to the smell so we packed up and left, yes, we left on our honeymoon night. I am an SPG Gold member so I used points for this night, so I am really disappointed.

Marcos checked us in at 2 AM, he was very friendly though he didn’t offer us much information, like how to find the room, what amenities were offered, what the wifi was, or where breakfast was/​if they even had it. The room was large and clean, very standardly appointed. It did have an iHome in it, but it was the old version with the 30-​pin connector which was last seen on the iPhone 4s.
Bathroom looked nice, but needed some work. The caulking was moldy and peeling off, a tile was loose, and there was some rusty stains behind the sink. There was also no hooks for your towel, so no matter what you had to leave the shower to dry off. The magnifying mirror on the wall did not light up very brightly and was loose so it dropped down. Finally, the toilet paper was so bad, just sad, scratchy, 1-​ply.
Another annoyance, the handicapped accessible parking was behind the lobby. That is nice for guests, but the four closest parking spots were occupied by the hotels shuttles! That wasn’t cool. There were still spots available, but they weren’t close to the front and made it difficult for my mom with her broken ankle.
Close to the airport, cheap, and convenient. But this is a conference hotel, not the place if you are looking for a weekend getaway.

The staff at this hotel just can’t get it together. Long lines, incompetent front desk. The only good thing about this place is that the rooms are clean– housekeeping is the only team keeping this hotel alive– honestly you would never know that it is a Westin

I stayed here because of a coaching clinic held inside of the hotel. My room was large, clean, and the bed was comfortable. The service at the front desk was friendly and I had no problem checking in/​out. The staff was very accommodating to the guys who worked the clinic and to the coaches in attendance. I had no problem getting hot showers and I had a view of the duck pond covered with a thin layer of ice and snow. Good experience and I would stay here again.

I stayed overnight due to a late flight being cancelled due to weather.
Hotel is located far away from shops, main roads, and other attractions. You are stuck with the food located within the hotel itself, unless you want to order in or take a cab to a restaurant a few miles away
Rooms are pretty normal. But not what I expected from a Westin. I have stayed in the chain hotels in other cities (LA, FL, NY) but this place was rather low end compared to them.
The shuttle service is terrible.
The shuttle driver kept asking me for my room number and key to let me on the shuttle. Which I showed him, along with my final bill.
He did not seem satisfied and kept saying I came from the apartment complex across the street.
And after that they decided to purposely try to skip my terminal. Luckily other people needed to get off at the same terminal and we together had to force him to stop. He refused to help out with our luggage.
You always run into unprofessional people from time to time but this level of disrespect and lack of service from a Westin hotel?
No thanks. I will never ever stay here or recommend anyone else if they are expecting a higher end hotel stay.

Came here for a conference and stayed 4 nights…
Terribly remote, despite its proximity to the Dulles Airport… Best to stay nearer to Reston Place if you have any plans to venture out. Towels were nice, sheets were okay, but TP was not in keeping with a higher end hotel.
Be sure to get an odd numbered room, unless you like looking at a parking garage.
The service was fine, but at times the catering staff seemed more like circling buzzards than attentive servers.
The restaurant had some service issues… Very awkward waiter who both interrupted and eavesdropped, and each night the service dropped as the night went on…30 minute wait for dessert 2 nights in a row! They were also out of 2 menu items 3 nights in a row…
Overall, I would find this ideal to park and fly, or as a last minute alternative b/​c of a cancelled flight… Otherwise, I’d stay at Hyatt Reston…
