To be honest we weren’t planning on having a videographer for our wedding but our photographer had recommended we consider it, especially for the ceremony. It ended up being one of the best decisions and money well-​spent.
Working with Doug has been an absolute pleasure! He spent the time to get to know my now-​husband and I on a personal level, and we really connected on our mutual side-​hobby of hiking. Not only was he prompt and professional with meeting up and signing contracts, but he was such a class act at the ceremony. He was dressed in our colors and tied those in perfectly into our final blu-​ray product.
At the ceremony Doug surprised us with having us do a «message» to our spouse that we would only see when we got the final video. So when we finally got to sit down and watch it together, it was such a treat! Until watching it, we didn’t realize how much his crew went beyond our expectations to find angles and views we missed while being completely absorbed in our own moment. Listening to our vows, watching the expressions on our families faces, capturing memories that will last us a lifetime are all now so preciously preserved on our beautiful disc. The painted disc and cover make us proud to show it off, and the theme of colors flowing through the menu, fading our music in and out of the video highlights, and re-​telling our story through his work made this such a priceless momentum that we will have the privilege to re-​live for years to come. We couldn’t stop smiling while watching it… he captured every beautiful memory of that incredibly special day! I wish I could take him along with me to capture all the highlights of our life! We would highly recommend Doug and FX STUDIO for every wedding and special occasion!

At first my husband and I didn’t want to get a videographer for our wedding because we were trying to stay within a set budget. After talking to our friends, we decided to consult with couple of videographers, one being a recommendation from our photographer because he felt Doug/​FX Studio and he work well together.
We are so happy and grateful of this recommendation because Doug was amazing at what he does. He captured precious moments for us to look back and be filled in what happened at our wedding. He taped many of our friends’ candidate but sincere interviews that would not be recorded, if we didn’t hire a videographer.
I strongly recommend Doug and his service.

My husband and I first learned about FX Studio when we picked up their brochure at a wedding expo. I immediately went to Unilocal and their website, was amazed by all the reviews, and knew I just had to work with them. After meeting with Doug, my mind was made up. From the beginning, we just knew Doug was a master at his craft. I mean, just look at all the accolades he’s achieved. The man knows what he’s doing. We appreciated the guidance that Doug gave us along the way and his thoroughness in explaining how our special day would go. He showed us a sample video of a recent wedding he did, and we were amazed at all the camera angles and perspectives he showed. He explained his perspective on «action/​reaction» and how he likes to capture those moments. My husband and I really appreciated that. About a week before our wedding we met with Doug to give him our video song list, and to cover a few things. Doug really took the time to give us some tips and tricks, and helped to put us at ease. We really trusted Doug.
When the big day finally came, Doug was there bright and early and ready to go. He worked seamlessly amongst all the craziness, and I never felt rushed or pushed by him. As we were taking the various shots, I appreciated the ideas and energy Doug brought. We got the video/​photography package, and worked with Dylan Dawson as our photographer. Doug and Dylan have worked together many times and have a great understanding of each other and work well together. They would bounce off ideas, and it was great! At the ceremony, Doug provided ample equipment. My friends who are into videography even took notice of all the cameras and angles Doug used, especially the quality of equipment he had. We definitely appreciated that.
When we picked up our video, Doug played a snap shot for us and I just couldn’t stop crying. It was amazing. To see everything Doug captured that day truly blew me away. With all the craziness on our wedding day, I had no idea what was going on and to see that Doug took the time to capture special moments meant so much. He did a small interview with my dad, and it truly holds a special place in my heart. Doug even went the extra mile and fit himself into the closet to capture an angle of my husband grabbing his tux. Awesome. Doug mentioned our video turned out longer than normal, and we appreciated that he included everything, even our special requests. As a nice touch, Doug also gave us some popcorn to take home so we could eat it when we watched.
Needless to say I would definitely recommend FX Studio. The level of quality and knowledge can’t be beat. We are so happy we chose to work with them.

My reviews a lot late, but time sure flies the first year of marriage. Anyway, we went with FX studio based on a recommendation from our photographer. We met Doug from the get go and he was very knowledgeable about his stuff. The way that he did his videos was different from other companies. Most just pretty much just film the ceremony and reception. Not Doug, he goes above and beyond by having my husband and me make a little message to each other before getting married. And he also interviewed some of our friends and our parents during the reception. It really was a hoot! If you’re looking for a great wedding videographer, you gotta go with Doug and Studio FX. They’ll deliver for you ten-​fold and your video will be something that you will want to keep watching.

So thankful I found FX studio for my Dream Hawaiian Wedding in October. They did an amazing job at an affordable price. Our videographer Simon was so friendly and did a great job capturing all of the important moments without being in your face, he was able to capture a lot of moments without realizing we were being recorded which made for an awesome dvd and a fun laid back experience which is what I wanted. Doug did a great job keeping us informed and helping every step of the way, making planning a destination wedding less stressful. The video turned out so clear and everything looked just as gorgeous as i remember it in person. These guys are very talented at what they do and I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you guys again for a beautiful video that we will have forever :)

Doug and his team are the epitome of professionalism and true aloha. It was easy to set up a meeting time with Doug to discuss our vision of our wedding and to talk about what he could do for us. We really felt that Doug tried to get a sense of who we are as a couple and how best to capture what we wanted. We truly appreciated that his contract is clear and easy to understand, and that it explains what he and his team need from us, and the timeframe they required us to get our material to them before the wedding (a copy of the wedding invitation, our songs) and afterwards (specific photos to be used on the case of our blu-​rays and on the disk itself). We thought the pricing for what we got was very fair and the production quality was excellent. It really was like watching a professionally produced movie. You should see the samples on the FX Studio website — they are a true representation of their usual work product – which is nothing but excellent!
What is priceless is the way Doug and his team captured our personalities and, while our video was very much polished, it was not a false, sugar-​coated representation of our wedding. We told Doug at our initial meeting: we are not a perfect couple. We know where are warts are, and we have no problem with having them shown in our video.
Let me tell you: there were a lot of «mistakes» or not necessarily the most flattering moments at our wedding (including a third of the reception attendees leaving early because of a flash flood that threatened access back to the Windward side, where most of the groom’s family lives… including the groom’s mom and grandmother, who unknowingly missed the first dance and the moms’ bouquet presentation) and they were in the video. But we wouldn’t have had it any other way, because not only did they actually happen, but Doug captured all of it in a way that was gracious and fun and, for lack of a better way of saying it, «us.» There was an intimacy captured in the filming despite the fact that Doug’s crew was completely unobtrusive during the event.
We absolutely loved that Doug captured a momzilla moment at the altar (but it was done with humor), a little bit of the groom’s frustration with a knot just before the ceremony, the bride’s sudden emotional overwhelming, and the coordinator’s Superman-​like efforts to keep everything moving smoothly (completely unstaged, our coordinator leaps over stairs and removes his t-​shirt while wearing a lei and slips on a fresh long-​sleeved shirt). We could not stop laughing at the hilarious backstage kitchen scene Doug captured of our friends and caterers (Alex Le as well as Alison Yokouchi of Pig and the Lady, Chefs Aker Briceno & Lindsay Ozawa of Prima Kailua, and Mark Noguchi of Pili Group –yes, we’re shamelssly name-​dropping, because we love them).
This brings me to an important point. We had a personal relationship with all of the vendors prior to our wedding, with the exception of FX Studio and our wedding singer (the amazing Amanda Frazier) and her band. But Doug has become a friend to our family because of the integrity of his work and the aloha he shares.
If you want a wedding video that looks like a fairy tale, Doug will do that for you. Just check out the FX Studio website and you’ll see examples of that, for sure. If you want a wedding video that captures *you,* Doug will do that for you. Our video is a newly made family treasure. We firmly believe he’ll create one for you, too.

My wife and I got married in August 2014 on the North Shore. We found FX Studio through a local search of wedding videographers in Honolulu area, and we chose them because they offered a very good value for the price.
We had about 140 guests and went with a one camera package. The owner, Doug was very professional and friendly to us through the process. We gave him a CD of 5 songs to include in the video. During the ceremony, Doug showed up early, did an excellent job capturing all the moments (I don’t think he missed anything important) and engaged with guests during the cocktail hour. The camera was not distracting to us all throughout the ceremony and reception. He captured a green flash at sunset which was really cool (and included it in the video).
Doug asked us for two pictures from the photographer to put on the cover of the Blu-​ray disc, and was done about 6 weeks afterwards. The video was very nicely edited, packaged, sound quality was great, and shot in HD so the picture was excellent. Overall, my wife and I were very happy with Doug and FX studio as a whole, and would recommend his services.
Many of the other companies in Honolulu we researched charged more money for comparable services. Weddings are expensive enough as it is, and Doug does a great job. You will be happy to have a videographer because you will otherwise miss so much.

Let’s just start by saying that there are tons of videographers and photographers on this island that are just as good and reasonably priced. However, what sets fx studio apart, and why I hired them was: 1) my two gf’s also used them for their wedding so they came highly recommended already, 2) they gave me a positive first impression, and 3) the staff is AMAZINGLY HELPFUL, SUPPORTIVE, AND PROFESSIONAL. I met Doug at a wedding expo and he was very down-​to-​earth and was very patient in answering all my questions. As a bride-​to-​be, pregnant, and stressed, he was so pleasant to work with. They were flexible with my ideas, and request and treated me not just like another customer, but a valued member of their successful business. Doug was very flexible on meeting me to drop off pictures, song selections, and invitations. The photographer, Dylan was also very professional and pleasant to work with. He never made me feel uncomfortable and was so positive even though it poured mid way through our engagement photos. The best thing about fx studio is that they went above and beyond to help me complete my video. Doug personally helped me pick couple pictures to complete my wedding DVD. He even showed me step by step, how to operate the disk. On top of that, he gave me a bag of popcorn to enjoy while my husband and I watched our professionally done «movie.» The office is clean, welcoming, and professional. I can truly speak from the bottom of my heart that if you’re struggling to look for a reputable videographer/​photographer, please give fx studio a chance. They have earned my business and future recommendations to friends who’ll be getting married. I genuinely am pleased with our end product.

AWESOME!!! Doug, Ryan and the whole FX Studio team were magnificent. If you are contemplating on either getting a videographer or not, you should DO IT! Don’t hesitate to do so! Book FX Studio — my husband and I won’t think twice of having them again.
During one of the wedding expo shows, we meet and browsed with so many videographer and their packages; unfortunately, there wasn’t any connection with them and felt mostly pressured to hire those videographers. Finally stumble upon Doug and his team — it wasn’t an accident, it was meant to be meet that day. Soon as we spoke to Doug for the first time, we felt welcomed. He made us feel at home in a way. He instantly envisioned the wedding details and sync with the ideas we have planned for the big day.
We booked the video package deal immediately without any hesitations. What a relief, FINALLY!!! Doug understood our vision for the big day. There was no need checking out anyone else. He provided us wedding video samples, watched it thereafter, I tell you, the film was stunning — it wasn’t even ours but LOVED it! FX Studio captured so many emotions and that very special moment in your life that can’t be forgotten.
We didn’t want our wedding day to be just another ordinary day so; I consulted with Doug to relive our first date for our slideshow. I briefed our first date story and Doug created a HILARIOUS script, couldn’t help but laugh at myself. Come the day of our reenactment! Oh gosh, I ain’t no actress ok! A special role for us — LMAO, thank goodness Doug was patient with us that day. Honestly, it’s hard to act your own show yet Doug made it fun and entertaining. It was FUN working with him; at the same time, he showed his PROFESSIONALISM and PERFECTION!!! Our wedding slideshow was BEAUTIFUL! PERFECT! STUNNING! Name it! All we could hear from our guest were laughter and awwww.
There’s another thing I loved the most about FX Studio especially with Doug since we worked with him the most… like many other couple, who are planning their wedding, there come a time when there’s a disagreement — the BRIDEZILLA moment! Blame it on STRESS! Hahaha! Doug gave wonderful advises which I doubt other videographers would have neither said nor done and we THANK him for that — we weren’t just a regular client to him — he showed us that he cared. Even brought me Mixed Nuts for breakfast on our big day — how COOL is that!!!
Video Pick-​Up day… Just the disc cover alone, I know it’s going to turn out AMAZING!!! Doug showed me a couple of clips from our day and with such great excitement just seeing FX Studio’s masterpiece, I texted my husband immediately and shared the good needs. We couldn’t wait to see our final product!
AMAZZZZIIIIIINNNGGGG! BEAUTIFUL! STUNNING! Loved, loved, LOVE IT! Our wedding film is just ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! They completely captured everything we could have possibly wanted in our film. FX Studio was so awesome to work with from beginning to end. I was so worried about reception — dark lighting, I was worried for nothing. Doug, Ryan, and crew are so INCREDIBLE at what they do. Doug was so great to work with! From the very start, he was very patient and also very quick to answer my questions… unlike some other vendors who took days or weeks to respond to my emails. When I met with him initially, he took the time to really explain how our video would be shot and what the end product might end up like. I knew our video would be great because I could tell that Doug really cared about even the small details.
Doug was like a ninja on the day of our wedding. I didn’t even notice him! But, I’m so glad he was there to catch the entire program on video… with the day being so crazy busy I felt like I missed a lot. Now with our video I get to relive the whole day. =) He was able to film everything I wanted and got the video back to us so quickly! Boy were we lucky! We are from the Mainland and were getting married on Oahu. We needed a videographer and did not know where to look. We looked up videographers on Unilocal and came across Doug at FX Studio. Because of the great reviews, this was an easy choice! Doug was very professional and very friendly. He seemed like an old friend. He knew exactly what we were going through and asked questions of wedding things that we wouldn’t have thought of that helped us out. From start to finish he was committed to getting the best shots of our wedding and he easily adapted to our unorthodox wedding schedule timeline. His rates were very reasonable and we got our BluRay back within 2 days of our wedding and we were able to show it at a Family BBQ that weekend, which was AWESOME! Notice we said BluRay and not DVD, he only uses BluRay’s because they are better quality and soon DVD’s will be obsolete. We cannot say enough good things about Doug and FX Studio. FX Studio is Amazing! We worked with Doug first over the phone from Los Angeles and only met with him the day of our wedding. Even with that amount of time, our wedding video came out better than we had hoped or even imagined! Doug is very detail oriented and has really great visions on how a great wedding video should be shot and produced. When you are having your wedding day, its hard to know what else was going on during the event. After watching our video, there were parts that Doug included from our friend and family that we would’ve never know had happened, and it was all captured by Doug and his team. He definitely goes beyond all expectations from a videographer. My suggestion is, listen to what Doug has to say and everything will turn out okay. Thanks Doug and FX Studio!!!

Doug and his team are great. My wife and I are glad that we chose him. From the planning of the slideshow and all the advice he gave us to the final product, Doug made everything easier.
It felt like he wasn’t even there at times during the wedding but yet was able to capture every moment. From the big things to the little things, Doug was able to capture them all.

We worked with Doug on our Wedding video. He did such an excellent job at meeting and exceeding our needs for our video. Doug was such an easy guy to work with and very easy to get along wtih and talk to.
At first, we weren’t going to have a videographer for our wedding, but I’m so happy that we did! We came across his booth at one of the wedding expos and liked what we saw. My husband and I both have an eye for detail and artistry so we are extremely picky when it comes to photography and videography.
I loved our wedding photos, but I have to say, I think I might love our wedding video that he produced even more!
The editing that he did to capture the entire day was phenomenal. Even with interviews from me and my groom were heartfelt and we didn’t look nervous because he’s just so down to earth and makes you feel comfortable speaking to the camera.
He captured things that I didn’t get to see and I love the emotion that was captured through his film. He is very professional and friendly and I loved his artistic eye in viewing the church and scenes of our ceremony and reception.
I feel that his packages are very straightforward and affordable. You will be very pleased with the final outcome of your wedding day videos. The images are very clear and you get to choose your own music too!

Doug and his team produce extremely high quality work.
Video Designs did our ceremony (w/​jib arm) and reception with same day edits to show at the wedding. The results were absolutely amazing. The team is very professional, shows up on time (well early probably) and they do their magic. Doug is extremely creative in how he designs his shots and it really showed in the results. He also is very reliable and will come through with what he says he will.
He is very picky about everything that goes into it so that makes it sometimes harder to work with him because it means you go through every detail, but I think he does that to make sure that you get the absolute best quality results. Quality input = quality output.
There is a lot of editing that goes into the show and the result is a professional, elegant, stunning show. It was incredible to see the quality of his same day edits being shown just a few hours after they were shot. There are some time constraints that if he has to do the same day edits, your slideshow cannot be scheduled before a certain time. But work with him and I’m sure you can figure something out.
The prices can add up as you add to your package, but at that point it’s all quality work, regardless of what you get. He also can do the underwater «trash your dress» shots and a whole lot of other things if you’re interested in more. He’s creative so see what he can do.
If you want an extremely high quality video production, then Doug is your guy. And if you’re unsure, then at least meet with him to see some samples of his work and I’m sure you’ll be sold.

The video of our ceremony was well worth every penny. Doug in particular was very helpful. It made our wedding planning easy and video decisions a walk in the park. The end product exceeded my expectations. The services are priced fairly considering how much editing they do (some don’t do any editing and charge the same price). My only regret is that I didn’t hire them for the entire event (ceremony and reception).
