MAC Cosmetics

Hi I’m Angel and I’m a self confessed makeupholic. I literally can’t help myself. I love makeup, whether it’s the cute packaging or the colors, I have no idea. We makeup junkies would call MAC (Makeup Art Cosmetics) mid range. They’re not high end but not drug store.
The quality of their makeup is great. It’s very pigmented and lasts all day. Their eyeshadows are very long lasting and doesn’t seem to crease. Their lipsticks are comfortable on the lips and doesn’t smear too much, depending on the formula. They have formulas ranging from sheers to mattes, and everything in between. I used to love their lipgloss when I was younger. Nowadays, it seems that my hair is always getting stuck to the gloss on my lips so I wear more lipstick.
Every few weeks MAC would launch their new collections. Some are awesome while others are meh. I came in that day for the new Ariana Grande Viva Glam lipstick. It’s a deep berry shade that’s right up my alley. She also came out with a sheer pink gloss that was too light for my liking. MAC’s Viva Glam lipsticks and glosses are to raise money for MAC’s AIDS Fund. 100% of the selling price gets donated to the fund, which is unheard of. Many organizations will donate a few percent or a few pennies on the dollar, but 100%, it’s rare. They have six Viva Glam lipsticks so far. In addition to that, that also did Viva Glam collaborations with Nicky Minaj, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, and Ariana Grande to name a few.
I’ve always had exceptional service at this store. The salespeople are always helpful. The girl that was working that day told me about one of their makeup events coming up. She gave me one of the brochures and said that she would be happy to sign me up.

I Walked into this MAC store in Hopes to finally get my hands on the new set of Viva Glam collection. I walked around for a couple minutes and then was greeted by a Mac Makeup artist and asked if there was something they can help me with .
When asking about the line I was looking for, I was told it wasn’t on display yet. But they would gladly get it for me, show me the product (s) but would be able to also sell it to me! At this point I was already a happy camper. The makeup artist also went up & beyond and showed me TWO lip liners that would compliment the lipstick I had bought. I also adored the makeup look she was wearing that day, neutral to little makeup w/​a Super Glossy lip. Of course I HAD TO GET THAT LIP GLOSS SHE WAS WEARING! So I did duh. The makeup artist that made my experience here amazing should get recognition for their amazing work ethic & dedication to their customers, I’ve been to plenty of MAC (s) and hadn’t had as great of an experience as I did here. What a disappointment. I really like Mac cosmetics. But sometimes products aren’t enough. It’s the service. The employee. My go to guy. No longer there. MILAN WHERE DID YOU GO?

I came here to get my makeup done for my birthday & man, I was extremely disappointed. I called 3 days prior to schedule my appointment but when I got there, apparently no one had wrote it down. There were about 3 ladies working & all of which had a pretty shitty attitude. The lady who was doing my makeup kept rushing & the end product was horrible. I do not pay $ 50+ to have my makeup look disgusting. If I wanted that, I would’ve done it myself. It was a terrible start to my birthday all thanks to Mac Ala Moana!
On a different subject, I’ve come in numerous times to buy a couple of things but it seems like when these employees look at me all they see is a 20 something year old who can’t afford their makeup. I’ve been ignored how many times walking into this establishment. About 3 times I’ve come in, stood around, waved someone down, & still was not helped. I’m in customer service as well & ignoring PAYING customers is absolutely disgusting.
I usually go to Kahala Mac to get my makeup done but I figured since Ala Moana is closer to where I live, I might as well go there. Bad decision! I will never step foot again in the MAC Ala Moana store. I have no problem venturing out to Kahala Mall to get my makeup done or even just to buy a couple of items. The Kahala workers are always extremely nice, helpful & outgoing.

I am a MAC fanatic!!! I needed a punch of refills on makeup and at the same time had my company Christmas party the same night so decided to treat myself and get my makeup don’t professionally. I made an appointment a couple of days before. When I walked towards the entrance of the MAC store a lovely lady greeted me and asked me what I was here for. When I told her I had an appointment and had minimum time she got me in right away. I was originally booked for a 45min-​60min makeup appointment that would cost me $ 50 but for $ 40 more the lady told me I could go to the private room and be worked on there with no destructions for her to leave and help other people. This helped a whole lot since I was on a timed schedule. Turns out the lady who helped me was the store manager Nise T. When she asked what kind of look I was going for it was kind of funny because I had a picture on my phone on what I wanted but the makeup Nise was wearing was the exact style I wanted to I just told her I wanted her current look. She was so fast and did my makeup on point and at the same time showing me some awesome techniques. When she was finished I was extremely happy on how it turned out. I’ve had some bad experiences before getting my makeup done from other MAC/​Makeup stores but this one blew me out of the water. To top it all off I also received a 20% for anything I buy that day and lasts for 30days. This came with spending the $ 90 for a professional and one-​on-​one makeover. It pretty much pays for itself since I got a whole bunch of makeup and so happy that I have the 20% for 30days. I can’t wait for the next big event I have to go to so I can see Nise and get my makeup done and have it on fleek :)

Recently, I’ve been looking for a new brush to apply my makeup. There are so many brands, styles and types that it’s very hard to choose the «right» one. The sales reps here at Mac really helped me decide on the best brush for me. They educated me on uses for the different brushes and focused our conversation on what I was looking for. Great customer service!
I was impressed with the different options available and their packaged sets. It’s many brushes for a very reasonable price. The only difference was the size and materials for the brush. I got the regular brush because it will last longer even though the package set was good value. I’m happy with the service they provided and the products here are great. My brush is amazing and I love it!

Customer service is awesome. Had Milan AKA Perfect as our artist. He is very knowledgeable, funny, and amazing. He made my cousins first experience great by making her comfortable and confident. We will back and have Perfect as our artist again.

I got a makeover today at the new pro store at the ala moana mall. I came in not knowing who to talk to and Milan approached me and automatically gave me a compliment about my hair and asked what brought me to Mac. I told him that I had an appointment for military ball. Right then he sat me down and asked me what kind of look I would want to achieve. I showed him few pictures of the look I’m going for. He explained everything to on what he was going to do and recommended me this lashes that he Costume made for me. All in all, I was very pleased and happy with the result. Btw he is hilarious!!! I enjoyed my makeover with him. I recommend him to anyone who wants to get there makeup done. He is one of the best makeup artist!!!

People here are friendly and accommodating. I was having a hard time choosing which shade of lipstick should i get Rooby Woo or Russian Red. Then Kimmy came and asked me if i needed help. I asked her which one should i get. She said she prefer the Russian Red for me because the color will look best on my skin tone. She also helped me in choosing my foundation and thought me how to apply step by step. I really appreciate that because i don’t usually apply make up. Just a powder and a lipstick and I am ready to go. Kimmy is very knowledgeable and helpful. Thumbs up!
I will make sure that I come back to Mac Cosmetics at Ala Moana, when I’m in Hawaii.

I’ve been here several times and you would think I would have learned my lesson by now. Where the hell is Team A? When they are busy, they seem short staffed and don’t make you feel important. For example, I shopped on a Saturday afternoon. The first woman I spoke to brushed me off and asked another girl to help me. She was ok but straight told me that if they got «busy» she had to help other customers. Wtf?! Thanks MAC for making me feel like a priority. I ended up with a few things. I’ve also been here when I was the only customer in the store. So-​so attentive but they are usually out of stock of the items I want. MAC at Pearlridge wasn’t any better.
MAC at Hillsdale mall was the only pro store I frequented bad their customer services was amazing! Although being greeted by first name is a small gesture, it makes you feel so important because the associate spends time with you and you don’t feel like a nussance. Bottom line, you want to feel important and special during your shopping experience.
After venting and rambling, I feel better and finally learned my lesson and stick to shopping online.

I went into this store hoping there would be an improvement in customer service since my precious visit. I was wrong. When I go shopping, my face isn’t necessarily covered in makeup. Maybe that’s the problem? I don’t look like I belong or something? I always feel awkward and insanely uncomfortable when I walk into a MAC store (especially this one). It’s like they cater to a certain type of customers with a certain type of look… How sad. When I try to flag someone down for assistance, majority of the «artists”/associates look extremely «busy» (chatting), bothered or simply walk past me and other customers like we are invisible. I actually want to know why some of them are snotty as hell. Anyway, it’s fine because I can always take my business elsewhere.
TIP /​BOTTOM LINE: Go to the MAC station located inside of Nordstrom. You will be well cared for there! The sales associates are engaging, knowledgeable and very pleasant. I once tried to buy a limited edition lip product, but it was sold out. One of the associates apologized (even though it wasn’t her fault) and she proceeded to «de-​pot» an extremely generous portion of a newly opened tester for me into an empty sample container. I was very grateful!

Darn it. I hate myself for not remembering her name. I am so bad with names. I came here one evening to replenish one color and maybe to change my palette if it worked for me. I have been wearing the same neutral colors for 3 yrs. Stuck in a rut I felt it was time for a change. I don’t want to end up on a makeover show one day as one of those people stuck in a decade.
Change is scary. She was so good with picking colors and showed me how to use them on the eyes. I had tried to change up my look before but this was the only place where I have been successful. MAC can be as natural or dramatic as you want to be and I appreciate that they can listen instead of pushing their vision of makeup philosophy on you. Mahalo! :)

Can we just talk about why I keep coming back here? One word — Genai!
Genai is the BEST makeup person I know. (Yes, I know more than one person.) She is knowledgable and FUN! She does not steer you wrong. I tried picking out a lipstick color once and she pointed out that I kept buying the same exact color all the time. (She was right. I had no idea that I kept picking out the same exact color, not even trying to repeat a purchase either.) She always gives me a heads up when new things come out and gives me great tips on how to change up my look without going overboard. (I’m kinda old now, so I don’t want to seem out of touch.) Her make overs are AMAZING. I wish I could have her with me always, but alas, all I can do is take her tips and try to apply them!
As for the store, it always organized so well. The staff is always ready and willing to help. You can tell that they really love what they do. I highly recommend this store for all your makeup needs!

I love MAC lipsticks but I guess I’ll just order them online from now on as the customer service here is awful! I walked in and no one asked if I needed help until I had swatched about 10 different lipsticks on my forearm. There were only 2 other customers in the store, a mother and daughter, who were being helped by one woman who seemed helpful and nice. But there were three other sales reps who were free and just chatting with each other.
Another girl walked in, presumably a regular customer and all the sales reps go up to her and help her immediately.
When I was finally helped, I told the woman what I was looking for and she kept showing me lipstick colors that were not close to my description at all and was getting obviously annoyed with me for turning down every shade she pulled out.
When I finally found what I was looking for, she started acting a but nicer and offered to help if I needed to find anything else. But that was the only instance when I didn’t feel like a nuisance in that store.

I love this MAC location and it is my absolute favorite to go to whenever I run out of makeup products, even though it’s far from where I live. The makeup artists are always welcoming and very helpful.

I had the highest expectations for this store, especially being a pro store! I’m obsessed with MAC and is my go to makeup! I literally been to the pro store ONCE and left with the saltiest taste in my mouth. It was around 730ish on a weekday, not busy at all, probably about 3 customers and 4 – 5 employees. I already knew what I wanted so I approached a sales associate, I don’t remember his name but it starts with an M, Millie? Milan? Idk, very flamboyant looking and the sassiest of personalities. I told him what I wanted to purchase and no response at all, just the sassiest damn look, like I was such an inconvenience to him… umm sorry, but remember YOU WORK THERE. He rolled his eyes and was very rude to me the entire time. I was with my fiancé and my toddler.
Overall, never going to that store again, even though it’s a pro store, I’ll just purchase online. I’m a devoted Nordstrom MAC counter or Macy’s MAC counter shopper. They are ALWAYS HELPFUL, nonetheless. Pro store needs better customer service, especially that guy. So sassy. Smh.

I love the PRO store. Best customer service. I went i today to get the discoteque gold liquid liner. They searched the entire store and back area and found it for me! There is one left if anyone is looking for it. Signing up for the bi-​annual events is easy and fun. They call me when new lines come out and make appts. For me at the last moment. I love this store and refuse to buy from any other Mac on island.

This was my first time shopping at this Mac store I came by here an hour earlier and bought some stuff the lady that helped me was super sweet and nice and helped me immediately (for the life of me I can’t remember her name) and then left only to come back b/​c of horrible service at a different store Jodi helped me on my 2^nd visit and she was so helpful and accommodating super friendly and very helpful due to my experience I will forever be a customer at this location AND the Pearl ridge location (will post a review for that store later)
****i forgot to mention Jodi also gave me a free HUGE reusable bag (not sure if the bag was available for purchase or not but it’s the fact that she went the extra mile)

As a professional singer I’ve had my make up done at this pro store many times. The last two times I was fortunate enough to have Marcie do my application. She is absolutely GREAT! I am no spring chicken, yet she gave me a look that was both contemporary and age appropriate. She listened to what I needed and I walked out of the store feeling confident with my look, and more than happy with the experience. Marcie is super personable and extremely professional. I will always ask for her specifically on my next visits.

I’m a recently converted MAC girl. I was an avid naked/​urban decay/​Lancôme make up girl, but after discovering the riri line by Rihanna I’m hooked. The best thing about MAC in general is that it’s long lasting and good quality make up. I love the bold colors to their neutral tones, so much variety to choose from!
Now why the 2 stars, every time I’ve visited the MAC store at Ala Moana I’m never helped. The store always in a mess and I’m left wondering what are sample items and what are actual products to buy. I usually avoid Macy’s cosmetics because of the horrible customer service, but the MAC counter there is 10x more helpful and that’s really saying something! If there’s better customer service and a neater store I would definitely give this place a star or even 2 more.
