Trade Secret

Ace is awesome. Came in with ratchet hair. Faded blue and after 6 – 10 Vitamin C and V05 treatments I could not get that $H!T out. So whateva whateva, I decided I’d get my hair redone Teal. Came in everyone there was super nice and enjoyable to spend my Sunday afternoon with. He lightened my hair as expected and first try with the Teal came out not so hot. He made a small correction and bam! Million dollar hair. Super classy teal tone, ratchet hair no more. I no longer get made fun of for wannabe teenage emo hair. Also I asked him to TRIM my hair (my hair is very short anyway) from my flat iron abuse and V05 damage also the bleach he added, and he did just that! Took off half an inch and my hair feels brand new. Also the first person to ever cut my bangs properly. Thanks pal. 5 hours for 3 processes 3 washes a trim and flatiron. Not bad!

I don’t know who cut my hair today, but she was awesome! I walked in about 1230 and asked if anyone was available and if they could finish by 130. The girl who cut my hair did an amazing job. I wanted a shorter cut by she realized my hair was curly and cut it longer than I asked. Thank God she did because she cut it the perfect length. She was friendly and listened to what I wanted. And she dealt with my toddler.

I went there for a cut and color.
First … The cut … Okay I did need it. It was dry and bleh. So it went from my butt to the top of my bra strap in the back. The cut itself was … Meh
When it came to coloring … I had wanted to go lighter … I have before … told her I had used box color 3 months prior to coming in. Instead of pulling the color out, which is what I’m used to. She just applied the color to my hair :/​
Of course it didn’t do much and her coloring job wasn’t great. She missed places. So she tells me that since the color didn’t come out she’s just gonna charge me for the cut. Seemed fair.
She said I should come back so she can do the color correctly. My instincts said NO … But what came out of my mouth was ‘Okay’.
So I return 1 ½−2 weeks later for the color.
OMG … I knew something didn’t seem right, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt.
She applied color wash to my hair. Cool. Than washed my hair. Applied toner … Washed it out again, an applied toner again!!! Washed it out … again. Then told me she was applying bleach straight to my hair :/​
Honestly it looked good at the salon when she was done. BUT!!! When I got home and washed my hair, I noticed it was all splotchy and she again missed a lot of places!!! And … My hair was orange! Not pleased at all. I basically paid $ 135 for sloppy work.
I ended up going to a different and very highly recommended salon to get the color fixed. My stylist there was mortified. She said that the back of my head it was like black, orange and blonde spots all over!!! ;(
But, it’s fixed now.
The stylist that did my hair at Trade Secret was really super sweet and fun to talk to. I just think she needs more training in coloring …
I won’t be going back there again.

I got a layered cut and keratin treatment from Ace and it was wonderful! Ace is a great stylist and has a really easy going personality, which made my whole experience so wonderful. I would recommend him to anyone.

Randy is the best colorist on the island he can do anything, I had gorgeous orchid going up to cotton candy pink with black and snow white chunks placed to make me look amazeballs!

I don’t live in Hawaii anymore, but when I did, Randy was THE ONLY person I’d let touch my hair. Blew me away every time.

Randy is the guy to see!!! Amazing stylist and amazing person also!!! His colors are the best of the best and I only trust him with my hair. Before I never really cut my hair so needless to say it was insanely long and of course split ends. Luckily Randy worked with me and kept the length but got rid of the damage. Go and see him… after you read what I wrote go and call and make an appointment you won’t be disappointed

Just had an awesome haircut. Ask for Paden. I have thick hair and she did an awesome job thinning it out and helping to tame it. I would highly recommend her.

Ask for randy… He’s the best hair stylist there! Try him out… You won’t be disappointed with your hair cut or new hair style :) make an appointment though, they get pretty busy in there :)

The girls were very helpful, honest, insightful and sweet!

Ace at Trade Secret is fantastic. I do the men’s «executive» cut, which includes a touch-​up /​clean-​up in between cuts. It’s a great way to keep my neckline, over-​the-​ears, and fly-​aways under control. And man oh man, I LOVE ACE’S SCALP MASSAGE on the days that I get a cut! (Clean-​ups are quick, in and out.)

First of all I would like like to thank Robyn M. for your offer which I took up on…
Now to begin:
Setting up my appointment, I was bummed that they were closed on Sunday, but I understand its Easter. I spoke with Jason, the manager. Helped me set up my appointment, chose to come in on April Fool’s day. Lol.
Okay, day of appointment. I came in a few minutes before 1, just to check in you know. I notice that they have a lot of items on sale. It also looks like they re-​arrange their furniture and added products OR I just didn’t see them the last time I was in here.
I checked in with the worker at the front, and of course I’m thinking there’d be a chair for people waiting to sit on, but there’s not? I guess the shops’ too small?
While I waited I looked around at the products, especially the nail polish. So many to choose from!
A few minutes later I got called. My stylist was Crystal? (I don’t remember if I heard the name right). I pulled up the pictures of the different hair styles that I wanted – a bit different yet they looked similar.
Washed my hair and OMG an awesome massage! Not going to lie I almost fell asleep. This was a first that a salon used both hot and cold water – or I just don’t realize it. She was also thorough with the massage adding shampoo and conditioner while making sure soap or water didn’t get on my face.
Once it was over, back to the chair and get it started!
She started off by only cutting about an inch off just in case I’d like that or go shorter. By the end I did ask to go shorter since my hair gets all funky at a certain length. Most of the time she was concentrating on cutting my hair, other times she talked story with me. She did offer me a magazine but I didn’t want to read any.
Had my hair blow dried and added some products to help my hair. It smelt nice but I knew if I did buy it, I would eventually forget to use it.
Rang up at the front, the price was more than what I expected to pay, even with the offer but I guess the little things add up. I mean it wasn’t that big of a difference but still.
Luckily I don’t cut my hair often. So I didn’t mind the price.

Went in here to see if I could get a little clean… Literally just wanted to have them shave bottom of my hair which would have taken 10 mins, but they wanted to charge 20 dollars. No one was there getting a cut! On top of that the customer service of these workers was absolutely horrible. Seriously I’d say save your money and go elsewhere!

When I fist came here My hair was frizzy dry brittle breaking off and not growing. After a few awapuhi and keratin treatments my hair is tamed shiny soft and long. I love my stylist Robyn McDonald. she is the best and the only one I trust with my hair… book ahead of time trust me it will be worth your time.

Robyn is the BEST! I may be a tad biased because she is my friend of almost 8 years, but seriously, she is amazing. All other staff is quite friendly, educated, experienced, & fantastic as well. A tad on the pricey side but when you’re like me and you don’t visit the salon as often as you should, it works out. And the quality of service and overall experience is well worth the cheddar. The store itself has a nice, clean, easy-​to-​maneuver layout, with a plethora of product & cosmetics so you can go home with a nice goody-​bag of stuff to replenish your hair, face & skin. I have never gotten styled by anyone but Robyn, but I am sure the other stylists are amazing, too! (but seriously, Robyn is amazing. & she gives the most amazing scalp massage whilst you get your hair shampooed.) I would recommend TS to any of my friends.

See Ursula. She will make you beautiful/​handsome and your soul will smile at her sweet, quirky personality.
She doesn’t work very often and frequently books early. She is a hair wizard. I live on the mainland now but still wait for my trips home for haircuts or major color changes. Her hair might be colored like Tonks but she is able to grasp my hair visions… Layered but not too short and a natural brown.
My only issue with this location is that I can’t make my appointments way in advance (by that I mean 3 weeks or more), which grinds my gears. But that’s hardly Ursula’s fault and so I love her still.

The service I received from Trade Secret was fantastic. I appreciated the professionalism they had in regards to their appointment service. The customer service service from the staff was overall very friendly and welcome. The artistic talent of the hair stylists is superb. I would recommend this place for someone to get their hair styled and feel good about themselves afterwards.

I always got great haircuts and always had a good time with the staff. They knew me on a first name basis and always made me feel special. I wish I still lived in Honolulu. I would go here till I died :)
