Service is great but when did Starbucks start adding sugar to matcha lattes? Can’t Americans handle a simple green powder? Even though they made it less sweet, it was still too sweet. I can’t even taste the matcha…

You can’t go wrong with a Starbucks drink, so the quality of the product was excellent! The line is never long, but the seating areas are always full whenever I stop by midday. Customer service has never been exceptional there, which is why I gave four stars. The baristas were never rude, they just weren’t the type who smile and asks you how your day is.

I have to say the lack of parking is an issue here, so I had to park across the street(illegally) at the Manoa Marketplace or whatever it is called and cross the street… thank God no one saw me as my car was still there later when going back… there were so many people at the Starbucks inside and outside that I am sure many more did the same thing as there was a no parking sign on the side street and there were police cars in another nearby lot… But anyway it was my friend’s turn buying lunch and Starbucks… so here we were after lunch at the Bangkok Chef a couple of blocks away and they had a 50% off special on fraps… so I got the green tea with soy milk frap and it was good… the funny thing is originally I was going to try a strawberry one, but the guy didn’t write it nice on the cup so I guess the girl couldn’t read that it was changed to green tea and made the strawberry one first… I told her I ordered the green tea so she made it and said to take the strawberry one anyway because she was just going to throw it away… so in a way I got a free frap… but when I finished the green tea one and tried one sip of the strawberry one… either too much ice had melted or it wasn’t to my liking anyway… so I just threw it away. Not going to take a star away for the parking issue… so will leave this a 4 star since it was good and sort of got a free frap.

This place is a decent Starbucks with a long ‘group’ table as well as a number of two person tables(tall and standard) in a cool, pleasant environment — a nice place for studying or an appointment, if one can find a table. But both times I went, it was on an afternoon of a weekday, and finding a table was nearly impossible — students? The outside tables were nothing special, and the afternoon sun was… warm. They sell all of the standard Starbucks eatables — coffee and tea beverages, pastries, sandwiches, salads, oatmeal, and the like — mostly at prices I consider premium. I appreciated that they have a bathroom, which amazingly, some of their stores don’t — a necessity as far as I’m concerned for a place in which you might spend a few hours. Service was adequate. Parking can be difficult. They have a small, free lot outside, or one can look for parking on the street.

Staff is alright and moderately friendly which I don’t mind. However being a shift supervisor at a different Starbucks location I highly dislike the fact that while on bar(where the drinks are made) their milk is left on the counters. Not only is that not Starbucks’ standard, but it’s milk, and it should be refrigerated unless being used regardless. However. The lobby set up is very nice, and being a student I enjoy the fact that they have many outlets.

The neighborhood ‘bucks has red cups!!! I’m definitely a fan of this place. Starbucks does so much right and this little location is no exception. We generally sit outside with our pooch and there are a few tables to do so. I tried a pumpkin spiced latte for the first time and have to say, I’m sticking with my black coffee from now on. Wow, that is what you are all drinking? That is some seriously sweet stuff. Not for me. But drink on in a beautiful red cup because tis the season!

Normally, I wouldn’t write a review for Starbucks(I am from Seattle after all!), but I thought that with the lack of decent coffee shops in Honolulu, I should. The Manoa Starbucks is spacious both inside and out, with ample parking behind the store. I ordered an iced coffee and requested soy milk. I’m highly allergic to dairy, and requested that I watch the barista pour my soy milk into my drink. I requested this because I have ordered soy milk with my drinks in the past and have inadvertently received milk instead. which is a big, allergic ordeal for me. The barista was super nice about my allergy and let me watch her pour the soy milk into a separate cup so that I could just pour the soy milk into my iced coffee to taste. Totally allergy friendly! There are several high top 2-seater tables near the front windows, and a large, wooden table in the back of the store. Alongside the walls are several 2 seater tables. This is a great place to chill and study.

Awful service, cold food, and unfriendly staff :(so sad! I’m a frequent gold member at Starbucks and I’ve never been treated so rudely! The Starbucks in Kailua will never be my favorite. I always get a refill of my coffee, one of the perks of being a gold card holder, especially since I do a lot of business at their locations and meetings. She would NOT refill my cup! She asked for a receipt, no I don’t keep them, that’s what the card is for. She said without the receipt how will she know I was here within an hour? Well, that’s what my Starbucks app is for! She wouldn’t even look at it. Unreal

This is my favorite Starbucks as it’s conveniently situated near both home and school. The baristas aren’t the friendliest bunch, yet certainly aren’t obnoxiously bad either… more neutral. The staff consistently spell my name wrong(who knew«Jamie» could be so tricky?), but make my drinks to perfection. My go-to morning pick-me-up is the Iced Layered Caramel Macchiato with an extra shot and thick caramel walls. This extra sweet treat wakes me up and puts me on that sugar high till noon… That’s where my midday drink, the Cool Lime Refresher with Strawberry and no water comes into play. As its name suggests, it’s wonderfully refreshing and gives me that extra oomph to make it through the rest of the day. Seating: It’s hit or miss grabbing a table. Most times they are occupied by the campers who look like they’re in it for the long haul. Outlets are also a hot commodity. Parking: Like the seating, it can be an issue, as the lot is small, shared with a bunch of other businesses, and almost always full. Street parking can be found, but beware of the omnipresent«No Parking» signs and driveways up near the church. Protip: Manoa Marketplace is always a spacious across-the-street option, but park at your own risk. The parking attendant gods are always watching.

Wow! What an experience, customer service at its minimalist. I guess the bottom line is; I got my coffee. Was it worth the $ 4.00 that was paid? No. Will I go to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf across the street? Probably. Should the cashier at Starbucks Manoa engage you with a smile? Greet you with a friendly«hello»? Offer their assistance? Advise the amount to be paid? Thank you for your patronage? Yes! Did I get any of that today at 8 o’clock on the 4th of May? NO! What I did get was a head nod to the scanner to swipe the bar code. And an I uncomfortable wait for a thank you, which I didn’t get. What I did receive was a blank stare with a hint of hurry up and move on look. Knowing that I was heading off to work, I opted to not make a scene of my dissatisfaction, though I shared it with anyone in earshot for 8 hours. And now I share it with you. If you’re going to put a young lady at the register, then train her correctly! If she doesn’t want to be there, get rid of her! I’m sure somebody else would want and can do the job! I actually wanted to tell her, to take a break and have a cup of coffee. Thanks to the other staffers at Manoa Starbucks, YOU make the store worth while to come to! I’ll be back when I cool down. To young lady at the cashier, good luck at your next job at the dmv.

So I just got kicked out of the Manoa Starbucks… or at least that’s what it felt like. That and the worst customer experience ever. Unfortunately I did not catch the male employee’s name — Asian, middle aged, thin build — so I’ll just refer to him as the guy from here on. A few minutes before 9:00pm the guy tells me they will be closing in a few minutes. For the record, both Unilocal and Starbucks’ website has the closing time at 9:30pm. My reply: Ok. Thank you. A few minutes apparently passed when they guy said«we’re closed». The 2 employees were still sweeping, cleaning, etc. My reply: Ok. I proceeded to gather my stuff to leave(cell phone, iPad mini and a clipboard). The guy says, «You were warned. That means get out… we’re closed.» While I admit that I don’t have a great deal of experience working in the food service-hospitality industry, I’m pretty sure that was not the way to handle me and this type of situation. As a paying customer I did buy a somewhat premium coffee(a grande flat white). Then I quietly consumed it at a table for approximately 1 hour while I studied some material. I don’t think I look like a hobo since I’m a nerdy looking adult Asian male dressed in a Reyn Spooner aloha shirt and slacks. Therefore I don’t feel the aforementioned treatment from the guy was warranted or reasonable. So in closing, F.U. to the guy. To Starbucks Manoa, you get my first 1 star review. I’ll patronize this location again on the 12th of never.

By far, this is one of the quickest, efficient and accurate Starbucks. I stop here almost every weekday morning for my caffeine fix. They are within walking distance from work so we have also used them to pick up larger orders for meetings and they have always had our order ready and correct. Starbucks recently introduced coconut milk, which I tried this morning. It is delicious! Try it in the flat white! I’m a convert. An extra bonus for me is running in to so many friends at this location since there’s not another sbux in convenient proximity. It’s like cheers… without alcohol and before the sun has risen. Thanks for getting my weekdays off to a great start Starbucks Manoa!

This is my favorite Starbucks! They always get my drinks right. But sorry, you only get 3 stars because parking, is not so awesome, and sometimes it really isn’t the neatest place — napkins on the floor, un-bussed tables. The ambiance is sort of a miss. The tables are so close together that you can feel people breathing down your neck, or un-purposely caressing your leg with theirs. And if you don’t have a netbook, omg, forget it. Those tables can barely hold a laptop. Unusual for somewhere like Mānoa. However with that being said, they still make my drinks exactly how I like them. The barista’s get 5 stars :) Whenever I’m back on Oahu, its a must for me to head to Mānoa Marketplace. Some people find it absurd as there are«other Starbucks on the way there.» Its kind of like when you break up with a boyfriend or girlfriend for the first time and people say«There’s other fish in the sea …» But I don’t want other fish, I want my fish … Same concept, I don’t want other Starbucks, I want to go to Mānoa! Not to mention there are other more comfortable and cleaner Starbucks around. But hey … Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a connoisseur of coffee or anything. Like I’ve stated before, its just all based on what my taste buds like. Cinnamon dolce latte(which actually I thought it should’ve been spelt with a u — dulce — but what do I know, I’m not French.) This is usually my very simple order when coming here … I change it up from time to time. However all Starbucks are not created equal. I don’t know if its a training thing or what, but it somehow tastes BETTER here. I assumed that over time, staff would change, and so would my drink, but it doesn’t. Its the right balance of sweet to coffee. I never have to add sugar or anything because it is always flavored properly. When I’m craving to have Starbucks coffee, that somewhat bright green little coffee place on the corner, is where I like to go. The staff is great, they spell my name correct every time and they acknowledge you in a nice homely way. I hope it stays that way.

It has been a veeeeeerrrrrrryyyyyyy long time since I’ve been here. I used to come here to study back in my college hobo days. It seems nothing as changed(except being renovated but the atmosphere is the same). The parking lot is in the back and it is extremely small. There is street parking but even that is a hit or miss. You can illegally park at the shopping center across the street but I wouldn’t recommend it. Back in my college hobo days I would have rated this place 3 stars but because of the renovation and the helpful cashier this place gets 4 stars.

Yikes, I used to love this Starbucks location, but they’ve been making my drink wrong lately. Is it because it’s too early in the morning? New crew? I miss the old crew… I usually sort of get the same thing all the time, sometimes with soy but they’ve been giving me skim instead of soy and soy costs more than skim and it makes me mad the fact that I paid for soy and get skim all the time. Usually I’m in a rush and don’t have time to wait for them to make me a new drink. I try to repeat my order twice so they label the drink right. I don’t know if the barista is too tired to even read the label on the cup bc I’ve been getting my drinks all wrong :( The only thing making me happy at 630 in the morning is my beloved coffee and when it’s not what I asked for, it makes me sad. Some people like me, have to have that epic cup of joe to start of the day and when it’s not something you asked for, it brings down my mood the whole morning.

SB is another convenient study spot for me. The staff are friendly and helpful. I love their tea selection and their food is better than other coffee shops(oat cake, tomato and mozarella panini, spinach feta breakfast wrap, oh my!). The worker just informed me if I get my marshmallow dream bar(read oversized rice krispy treat) heated up, «it’s heavenly». Agreed. It’s like I just pulled it out of the oven. However, the parking is pretty gnarly(yes, I totally just used that word), the background music isn’t conducive to studying, and the internet connection isn’t so great. They also have a lot more of the smaller tables which I don’t prefer and the place is overall hopping! The in and out traffic is pretty insane, which isn’t helpful for someone like me who is easily distracted. Oh, and they close at 9:30, not 10pm. Don’t hold your pee with their new coded lock: 2101. I asked the worker for the code and I was like, «SERIOUSLY? 5 numbers? I’m so going to forget it from the bar to the bathroom.» sigh. I’ll still stop by to get some work done now and again, and to admire the new renovations :)
