Arlene is absolutely amazing!!! She worked some serious magic on my dress. My dress was a size 12 and I am a size 2. She added many things to the dress and also made my veil to match. The receptionist is one of the nicest people I have ever met as well! Did I mention how reasonable this place is? I would highly recommend this place!

I wish I could give them more than 5 stars! The owner, Arlene, is absolutely incredible! I had my wedding dress altered here, my sash sewn on and a heart sewn onto the back of my dress and it all came out perfect. I am very picky and they always accommodated my requests. They even altered my dress the morning of my wedding because I was having a panic moment where I felt it was too tight in my back. Arlene went above and beyond to make sure I was happy and that my dress was perfect. She also altered and added sashes to my daughter and step daughters dresses.

I’ve had two great experiences here so far and will continue to come here for important dress alterations. My wedding dress and a skirt for a gala were altered here and the women were friendly, professional, and efficient. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a long-​term alterations business. I’m pretty sure they’ll do anything — I saw a mother and her young boy come in to hem his jeans!

I was so nervous about choosing a place to alter my wedding dress — I went to two other tailors for consultations before deciding to go with Beautiful U, and I’m so glad I did. The staff is lovely, and they made sure my dress was exactly how I wanted it. I am very short and so my dress needed a lot of work: nipping the waist, shortening the straps, and hemming. I got a dress with very intricate beadwork, too. It came out PERFECT! I also needed a veil and waited until the last minute to try to get one. They offered to make one for me, and it was just what I needed, for a VERY decent price! You’ll be in good hands with Beautiful U.

Beautiful U saved my wedding gown!
I initially visited another tailor who did a terrible job altering my strapless mikado satin gown. He altered the cups the wrong way, leaving my chest half exposed!
The ladies at Beautiful U literally disassembled my dress, pinned the pieces back together using me as the model, and reconstructed it! The finished product is beautiful– exactly what I envisioned when I bought the gown.
I can’t say enough good things about these ladies. Five stars aren’t enough. :)

AMAZING! That is all I have to say about the wonderful women who work at Beautiful U. I had 3 fittings with them for my wedding gown and it fit PERFECTLY on the big day. They listened to any concerns I had during the fittings and made sure I was comfortable and happy in the dress. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for brides!

Could not be happier with way my dress turned out! I had a VERY complicated and large ball gown wedding dress that needed to be shortened and bustled. They did a fantastic job bustling and making my dress to amazing. They were very creative with the bustle and showed me three different ways we could do it. They also were able to tweek a few things that I was not happy with my dress and made it perfect. The building looks a little outdated… but there is some serious talent and skill in this shop!

I can not explain how fantastic this place is for bridal alterations, they have saved me as a bridesmaid for 2 weddings now. They go above and beyond and get it right always.

Next weekend, I will be a bridesmaid, and I needed to have my dress altered. I brought it into Beautiful U about six weeks ago, and had to come back twice… I’m still disappointed.
My dress needed the straps to be shortened a TON, and the first time I went in for this, they also said they would lower/​open up the bottom and back of the arm opening so that it wouldn’t cut into my arms.
Lots of pins went in my dress to mark it, and I left feeling happy, but when I went in to pick up my dress, there were visible red marks on the front and back of my arms from the dress, after having it on for only a few minutes. It was still too tight and more fabric needed to be taken away. They agreed they would take it in more in order to make the arm opening bigger. I came back this week, and it is still too tight. At this point, I am out of time for the wedding, and will have to deal with being uncomfortable and unable to move my arms in the dress.
I’m disappointed they did not listen to my concerns, and that after TWO alterations, the original problem still exists. I feel like they did no alterations to it at all, truthfully. $ 75 and a ton of time wasted. I will never trust a special occasion garment with them again.

Beautiful U went above and beyond my expectations of an alterations shop in order to make my wedding attire amazing. First, Arlene and her team altered my wedding gown to a tee, and it fit me perfectly. Then she accepted the challenge of making (from scratch!) my mom’s dress which turned out to be literally the BEST thing that she has ever worn. Arlene designed it herself and my mom got compliments all weekend. She felt like a queen, which was my favorite part. Finally, the icing on the proverbial cake was when Arlene accepted the challenge of remaking my mom’s old wedding dress into a dress for me to wear at the rehearsal. A 30-​year old long dress with plenty of lace was transformed into a flouncy-​skirted piece that was not only super cute, but so special for me to wear since it was a family heirloom. Arlene and her team are the SWEETEST people and I’d definitely recommend working with them. I’ll for sure be going to them for my next formal attire needs.

I’ve been coming to Beautiful U for almost 3 years now. The fact that you have to make an appointment is a bit of a hassle, but it is worth it.
I have altered 4 bridesmaid dresses here and all have come out perfectly and on time. Arlene takes the time to listen and make you feel super comfortable. They also specialize in wedding dress alterations, though I’ve never used them for that service… Yet.
I’d highly recommend working directly with Arlene– she is the owner and gives better pricing. Some of the other ladies who work with her may quote you a higher rate, but Arlene is extremely fair and tries to keep the cost of alterations fair.

I’m from a small town and always love when a business in a big city is personable and has a hometown feel. The women at Beautiful U are awesome. They’re friendly, sweet, and know exactly what they’re doing. Definitely come here for your wedding dress alterations (or any dress).

Needed to get a bridesmaid’s dressed altered and needed it back quickly. A friend suggested Beautiful U and so I dropped in, but didn’t think to call to make an appt. Even though I didn’t have an appointment, I was lucky they found a way to accommodate me.
Dress was altered PERFECTLY and fits like a glove. They were so nice when I went in to drop off and very accommodating when I needed to come in late to pick up.
I’m very happy with Beautiful U and plan to use them for any alterations moving forward :)

We took a wedding gown and all bridesmaid dresses here. The ladies are amazing. The bride’s veil went missing two days before the wedding and Arlene (the owner) just gave her a beautiful veil that matched perfectly. She said «here you go! Just return it whenever you can». Great customer service. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Arlene and the ladies of Beautiful U are a rare find: talented, accommodating, thoughtful, and helpful! I came to Arlene with two problems: one, I wanted a built-​in shrug for my wedding dress and two, my wedding dress wouldn’t arrive until two weeks before the wedding. «No problem,» Arlene told me and helped me choose the right fabric and lace (based on a 2-​inch sample of my dress) and crafted the jacket in advance. When my dress arrived 9 days before the wedding, Arlene went to work, uniting the two into a perfect harmony. She and her ladies also altered my maid-​of-​honor and flower girl’s dresses and created jackets and sashes, all the while exuding the most calm and serene atmosphere a bride could wish for. I’m so grateful!

I was so impressed with my alterations experience at Beautiful U. My alterations are finished and my dress looks beautiful. I arrived at my first fitting in a borderline panic because my dress had come in too small. I left my first fitting calmed because it was clear that they had everything under control.
The next day, I called and asked if I could come back and have them look at it with me a second time (for my sake rather than theirs) because I knew that, the first time I’d been in, I had been too flustered to communicate very well. Beverly (appointment booking) didn’t even hesitate and gave me a time to come in later that afternoon. At that appointment, we didn’t change our plan as far as what we were going to do to the dress, but I left feeling even better than the first time, since I could discuss everything with them while in a calmer state of mind.
They ended up adding about 1 ½ inches to my dress, and you can’t even tell. They also hemmed it (a beautiful job of cutting tulle — it’s completely straight), shortened the train (at my request since it will be an outdoor wedding), added straps, adjusted one side, added the bustle. Everything looks great. Leigh did a great job!
Arlene (the owner) has a great eye. She was always there for all my appointments and is a complete professional. I didn’t love the first bustle that was initially suggested, and Arlene took a great deal of time to show me what different bustle options would look like. Now that it’s finished, I love the way it looks. That’s what I loved most about working with Arlene — if something wasn’t quite right and I couldn’t put my finger on it, she always had the best suggestions for fixing it and/​or would talk through different options with me.
Another reviewer mentioned that this is THE place to go for wedding dress alterations and I completely agree.

I have recently visited Beautiful U for a custom made dress. Arlene has a lady that completes custom work and I could not be happier with the outcome.
Arlene was so helpful; she took my calls while I was purchasing fabric for the dress, was flexible with fitting times and had great input along the way. The lady that made the dress was also very accommodating and is very detail oriented.
The dress itself is everything that I hoped it would be. I will definitely be using Beautiful U for future custom and alteration needs.

I had one of the best experiences of my wedding planning process at Beautiful You. Every time I went in I felt like I could relax and when I came back after my first fitting I knew that these ladies were incredible at what they do!
Eloisa did most of my alterations for my bridal gown and she did AMAZING. When I went in for my first fitting, she recommended a bustier (even though the designer had sewn one into the dress) and it made ALL the difference. I had three fittings and every time I came back I fell in love with my dress more and more.
At my bridal portraits, I realized that I hadn’t taken my belt in! At my final fitting they took it in, at no additional cost.
I thought the pricing was very reasonable for the amazing job they did. I am SO glad that I chose this tailor for my wedding gown! I can’t wait to wear it this Saturday at my wedding; I couldn’t wait to drop by and leave a stellar review for the girls at Beautiful You. This is THE place to get your bridal gown altered.
I originally bought my dress at Ventura’s and had my alterations done there. Boy, was that a mistake! After four fittings and failures, I took my now damaged dress to Beautiful U and they fixed it in 24 hours!
They do great work, they’re fast when it’s an emergency and they offer reasonable prices. I wish I had taken my dress to them from the very beginning.
I’ve also had a bridesmaid dress altered there and was very pleased with that experience.
The shop itself is tiny and not fancy or modern, but the work is good!

I’ve read the other reviews online about Beautiful U, but none are similar to my experience there.
I took in my wedding gown to be altered about 6 months before my wedding. Between my first alteration and my wedding day, I went to Beautiful U for about 6 alterations. I need to add that it took 4 alterations at a completely different bridal shop (out of town) to fix the damage they did to my gown, and all this fixing had to happen just a week before the wedding. Talk about a bridal nightmare!
Some of the problems with the gown:
The hem on the bottom was completely crooked — too long in some places and too short in others. There were seams in the gown where one side of the seam was one length and the other side was another!
They created an ugly bustle and when I told them I didn’t really like it, said that they couldn’t do any better. Then, unbeknownst to me, they completely changed all the pleats in train of my gown so that their bustle looked good. It took 3 fittings to fix that when I took it to another shop.
They left pins in my gown! It almost looked like they tried to discretely pin it (by hiding it in the fabric) so that they didn’t have to take the time to sew that part of the dress.
The gown was too loose on me. I asked several times for them to make it tighter (it was a form fitting gown). They kept refusing, saying it was tight enough. I think they were trying to avoid doing extra work.
They never spent more than 15 minutes on me during a fitting. Meaning, they weren’t very careful with their pinning or fixing of the gown. It was done very hastily with tons of room for error.
During one of the earlier fittings, they took in the bust when it was obvious during the first fitting that I had no room to spare! Why would they do this? It’s clear that they don’t remember things well or that the women sewing in the back aren’t communicating well with the women who pin things during fittings.
That’s part of another issue — a lot of the women pinning and sewing speak broken English. Therefore, it’s really hard to communicate what you wan’t to see fixed or altered, resulting in a poorly altered gown.
And the rates they charged were just ridiculous. My bill at Beautiful U was around $ 500 (for taking it in, hemming, creating bustle, and adding straps) while the cost for fixing all of their mistakes (basically doing more work than the ladies at Beautiful U ever did) cost only $ 275.
The women who work there are very sweet, but I promise you, they don’t know how to properly or carefully alter a gown!
Do yourself a favor, especially if you’re in need of an alteration shop for you wedding gown — stay far, far away from this place! You don’t want to stress out about your already-​expensive gown being completely destroyed by clearly inexperienced seamstresses. I promise, you’ll save money and stress by taking it somewhere else.
