Blackbird Trading Co

Blackbird Trading Co is a small shop on the Westheimer strip within walking distance of Agora. They have a mixture of both vintage and newer clothing items. It’s not an overwhelming amount of merchandise which makes it a good place for just a quick browsing stop.
Everything is clean, neat, and organized, and seems to be chosen with care. Not a bunch of «junk» here like other resale places. They also buy/​sell clothes so you can bring in some items you think they might want and they will give you $$$. Street parking only, as far as I know. The employees have always been nice when I come here and let me be (not down my back asking if I need help constantly). Big fitting rooms in the back if you need to try things on :)
As a self-​proclaimed vintage/​thrift connoisseur, Blackbird Trading Co makes the cut on my list.

This place is amazing! Walked in and had excellent customer service! I seen a Marc Jacob purser that I was in love with and received the best deal! This will be a place I shop at on a regular.

My girlfriends and I often walk around Montrose to do some shopping. Blackbird Trading Co. is one of the great stores on Montrose to find vintage consignment items that we know that its one of a kind somewhat.

My boyfriend and I visited Houston over the weekend and wanted to do some montrose shopping. Found this store when I looked it up and it’s also next to like 4 – 5 other vintage shops. Very hard to cross the street but the quality of clothes are good, not like any old thrift store. My boyfriend found a shirt and a really nice pair of new dress shoes for a bargain.

This place is wonderful !!! I loved every inch of it!
It’s the kind of trading/​thrift store you go in and you feel like everything in front of you is brand new! Very cute outfits for very reasonable prices, and they steam clean everything!
I got the cuttest Michael Kors dress for only 18.95 last friday! I am in love! :)

Okay fine, I’m a thrift-​a-​holic. I love unique finds and good deals, which is what Blackbird offers. Sort of.
They have some really cute, vintage-​style clothing (stuff and self-​respecting housewife would wear while wearing pearl necklaces and baking pies). Totally a good thing! I just wish their dresses and blouses for a bit more reasonably priced. I saw some cute floral dresses with buttons down the front. I saw some gorgeous lace dresses that could make any woman feel like a lady in France. However, most of the dresses were in the $ 25-​$ 30 range (which I wouldn’t pay even for new clothing). I did happen across an awesome African-​print-​like structured tank top for $ 7!
What I like about Blackbird: (steam) cleaned, organized, unique, and vintage-​y. It’s a good higher-​end thrift shop. Wait, is that an oxymoron?

this place is tucked away a little bit further east than i expected on westheimer in montrose area. and let me tell you, it is a hidden gem!
i went to sell my clothes (which unfortunately, they didn’t accept any of mine) but what i saw while they were «appraising» was an absolutely phenomenal & CLEAN selection of clothing, shoes, scarves, accessories, the WORKS! and trust me, i am the furthest thing from a thrifty person (and please don’t take offense if you are) but i can turn into one if other second-​hand stores do exactly what blackbird trading company is doing :)
don’t be fooled by the parking here — there’s a decent sized lot in the back that you can park in.
ALSO — i forgot to ask the guy working there, but the phone number listed on Unilocal isn’t the correct number for blackbird. if i hop by there again, hopefully i’ll remember to ask & repost it for all. enjoy!

Blackbird is my absolute favorite resale shop. The prices are beyond awesome for really high quality clothing, often brand names, too. The people are really helpful and friendly, and everything is always neat and well kept. I found my new favorite pair of skinny jeans for $ 3!
They even have a small vintage section that sells older items.
I really hope Blackbird continues to grow, I think they have a wonderful vision and they’re doing a great job of carrying it out.

Will never go back again. Took my two girls to store for first time. Started shopping and heard the music they were playing. Totally inappropriate rap music playing I want to f a young n. Rude staff.

As resale goes, Blackbird is definitely one of the better shops along the Westheimer bargain blocks. I have been in here for a few things for myself a time or two and have had pretty good luck with quality and prices.
My most recent visit was with my 13 year old niece, who was gearing up for going back to school. Being the good aunt I am, I was teaching her how to make her shopping budget stretch further than she had expected. Although she didn’t quite find what she was looking for here, she did comment on how she liked a lot of the stuff in store. They concentrate on casual wear mostly, with tons of tees and tanks for the ladies and a great variety of jeans in the back. Their dress selection is pretty dismal though.
I will say the staffer working behind the counter was much more pleasant than the ones that work at the black hole, that is Buffalo Exchange down the street. Those little douche bags make me wanna slap a baby.

this has got to be my favorite resell store ever. the clothes are clean and in great condition. you almost wouldn’t know it was a resell store. the décor is modern and vintage. love it. they have super cute jewelry here for prices that my lame, usually empty wallet can handle! the customer service, like taxi taxi and leopard lounge, is super. i already can’t wait to come back: D

I LOVE blackbird. It is in the old spot of Leopard Lounge as previously stated by other users. The store is super clean and i love their selection of 100% silk shirts. The sunglasses in the front counter are to die for. The staff was very helpful and informative. Some stores don’t like to let you know about their deals or discounts but the cutie who rang me up was like «hey we have this going on and I am going to throw our 5 dollar discount in blah blah blah» MY KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. Rather new so hopefully it doesn’t get any weird odors or become another identical taxi taxi …

I was interested to see this place open up in the old Leopard Lounge building, as it’s literally almost in my backyard. If I was so inclined, I could hop my backyard fence and be there in seconds. This is a plus if it’s any good – but totally useless if it’s awful. With most of the resale shops on Westheimer falling into my personal «awful» category, I didn’t have high hopes for Blackbird when I walked in with a friend while making a circuit of Houston’s resale shops.
Not a whole lot has changed from the old Leopard Lounge space, except for little revamps here and there, like the really cute curtains for the dressing rooms which have flocked paisley patterns on them. The selection of clothes is actually quite nice and is on par with or better than anything you’d find at the other stores. There is some overstock that’s being sold here, but I rather like that because that means there’s a range of sizes available – it’s like a law of the universe that if I like something, it’s NEVER available in my size. If I have one beef it’s that the organization seemed to be a bit random, even though it was allegedly divided up by size (a size eight is not even close to being a large, guys).
But the real kicker for me came when I stepped up to the counter and the guy running the cash register asked me, as he rang up my purchases, if I’d seen the new bags at Urban Outfitters, because they were really crazy.
Wait – what? You have deigned to speak with ME, a mere mortal?!
Even though I had no idea what he was talking about, as we’d seen two different sets of bags, I was still impressed that the employees at this store seemed a little bit more on the ball than a place we’ll call Fuffalo Bexchange. Between the employees, merchandise and the overall look of the store, I’m sold. Looks like I’ll be hopping my fence after all, because I really like this Bird!
