Shaw’s Jewelry

So I was in a pinch and are 20 year anniversary dinner was planned but I still needed that perfect ring and I was slammed at Work so I knew who to call and that was our buddy Alex at Shaws. So this is how it went down. I call Alex and emailed him a pic of what I wanted and he rapidly send me three choices I then picked the one I thought I wanted asked for a break and he helped me a bit (-$ 250 thanks Alex) I made an appointment to pick it up when I saw it in person it was better than the pic! So after dinner I gave it to her and she loved it!!! Thanks so much Alex and Shaws Jewelry Staff.

I really believe they need to go through some sort of customer service training. The staff is just really not friendly.
Attempted to sell an old diamond ring with them. the offer that they made me was just ok. I wasn’t impressed with the offer, and their justification was even more unimpressive. But what can you do? You can shop around but I didn’t have the time.
The other staff was just sitting around staring at me without a friendly smile or anything. I give them a 3 because the second time I went in the gentleman was nicer but I likely won’t be going back since everyone else wasn’t. It’s unfortunate because my husband spoke highly of them. Oh well

This place is the best — very professional and quick. I stopped in to have some links taken out of a watch that I was given for Christmas. Albert was so helpful and had me — in and out within 15 minutes. They have a HUGE selection of the very best watches and jewelry. Parking is super easy with their attached lot. Shaw’s is my ‘one-​stop shop’ for anything jewelry related.

I have been in the market recently for a new watch and stopped in at Shaw’s to take a look. How I had never stopped in previous in my 15 years in Houston I don’t know. Kenny Dudley worked with me and was very helpful and quite polite showing me watches and discussing pricing, option, etc. The selection of pre-​owned Rolexes is good and I felt comfortable in the space and with the quality of merchandise.
Ultimately I decided on another Rolex from a local competitor (sorry Kenny) but I will certainly be back when I am back in the market.

I know almost nothing about jewelry and could have done a better job than the salesperson who helped me. I recently went in to purchase a wedding band, expecting a great experience. Instead, as the two-​star review indicates, it was just «meh.»
Would it have killed the salesperson to give me a smile and congratulations on my upcoming wedding? Would it have been such a burden to ask the date and to make other small talk so he could relate to me on a personal level and make me feel more comfortable making an unfamiliar purchase? Not once did he ask me if I had anything in mind or ask me about my style and taste so that he could make some recommendations. When I found a ring I liked and ended up buying he made no effort to tell me anything about it and I had to ask him the material, etc. Come on guys, this is Sales 101! There is no reason to expect your customers, many of whom likely know little about jewelry and are making a big purchase, to do your job for you.
The store did not have the ring I selected in my size, so I had them order it. This was not a big deal, and they said they’d have it in about five days. I called to see if it was in so I could pick it up and was put on hold for a very long time. When they finally picked up again they transferred me to the salesman who had helped me, who then had to put me on hold forever while he looked it up. Please, get your acts together.

I paid over 100 dollars to get my ring sized down a quarter size. It was not sized down a full quarter and was still too large. When I returned, I momentarily played dumb and asked them to tell me what size my ring was. The jeweler measured it and said 7.25-the original size of my ring! I showed my receipt of having paid to get it sized down from a 7.25 to a 7. They then measured it again and said, «oh, sorry we used the wrong tool, it IS actually a 7.» What?! It was such a clear lie to avoid taking responsibility for their shoddy work. I said I wanted to get it sized down more, and I simply requested that I not pay full price for them to size the ring down again (this time an actual quarter size, please!) They would not offer a discount or even an apology for the inconvenience and mixed information about size. Why they wanted to lose a customer over a nominal fee is beyond me, but I took my ring to a jeweler down the street to get good, knowledgable service… and they are doing it for 40 dollars cheaper. I will never return here for any purchase or service.

I’ve been in several times. Their selection on hand (engagement rings) wasn’t impressive so I went to another store and made a slightly impulsive purchase. We’re both very happy with our choice. Shaws missed out on a $ 5000 sale. They will let you create your own or order from catalogs, but it’s just not the same.
Another time, I was looking for a pendant, no luck. They just seem to carry average items.
This time, I came in looking for a watch (ladies), no luck, but the watch salesman explained how I could go to the makers website and have my choice sent to the store. I did, and he said it would be in before Christmas 2014, I gave my contact number. I didn’t hear from anyone, so I checked back. They said they would let me know when it arrived. I haven’t heard anything as of ½/​2015.
I’ve had good luck with my sales ppl, only one pretentious female!

I was sorely disappointed with the level of service and the caliber of the staff I encountered.
My fiancé and I went in on Saturday afternoon. I’m on the hunt for a very specific watch for our wedding. Here’s the reasons why I’m giving this place 1 star:
— Firstly, the sales associates I worked with looked sloppy. I’m not expecting everyone to be wearing white gloves and Armani, but these guys looked out of place in the suits they were wearing, like they were going to a court hearing.
— Secondly, the guy that tried to «help» me didn’t even remotely listen to what I was looking for. I gave a pretty explicit list of criteria, all of which was ignored in an attempt to sell me something that was in the case, vs. trying to actually satisfy my need. I get it. A silver-​toned mens dress watch with a black leather band isn’t exactly contemporary, but don’t try and sell me a sports watch and try and tell me that i can just swap out the bracelet for a leather band. Also, if I say I’m looking for something with a more classic look, don’t bother showing me contemporary watches. It’s not what I want.
There was no attempt to engage me as to what my need was, it was evident that they were only interested in selling me, not actually helping me. I won’t be back.

Came here to get my grandmother’s ring resized — was about $ 65. Even though I wasn’t spending a lot of money and I didn’t look like an average customer, they still treated me with respect. The guy was able to tell me what process they would use and what to ultimately expect. Overall, I am a very happy customer with my newly sized ring :)

I came here after finding myself in a panic. I got engaged with the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen and a day later– my finger was completely swollen and I couldn’t get the ring off! Tried various attempts but it only made it worse.
Fast forward (once my finger was back to normal), I take my ring into Shaw’s and explain what happened. They re-​sized my finger and fixed my ring in less than 24 hours! It’s as beautiful as ever!
They did a great job! AND it was a very reasonable price! (But let’s be honest– I wasn’t really concerned about the price). The woman who helped me was lovely– very friendly. I didn’t get the vibe I saw in other reviews. Will definitely return.

Unlike all the other reviews I had a wonderful experience here today. My sales person took him time to show me everything I asked to see and didn’t rush me. He showed me rings, watched and earrings. I bought the watch I was looking for and a wedding set. Everyone was nice and made sure we were being taken care of. I’m thrilled I found this place and only wish I knew about it long ago. I will definitely make it my first stop when shopping for jewelry.

My fiancé bought my engagement ring here a week ago. Unfortunately, when I showed up (questionably) five minutes after closing (because of the usual rush hour traffic that ensues in the time surrounding their closing time) to inquire about ring sizing and to determine whether or not the sizer I had in it was damaging the ring, before I left the country, I was ignored at the door in 40 degree weather. I called to explain that I wasn’t there to browse and would take maybe 5 minutes of time but was hung up on after they refused to provide me with the manager’s name so I could ask for them by name when I called to speak to them the next day. I guess they have cameras in their parking lot, and since I made the call while in my car, they decided to be further customer oriented by sending out a security guard to threaten and intimidate me. All in all, I can’t say I’m impressed with their customer service, our lack thereof to be more precise. They’ve been around a long time, so I can’t imagine this is how they’ve operated over the years, but perhaps now that they are no longer a gloified pawn shop and have their «grand, new store» they’re more inclined to treat customers like gutter trash. I’ll be following up with the manager tomorrow.

I stopped by for my first time and these people are unfriendly. Its almost as if they think they are doing you the customer a favor with their existence. Let me explain something to you stiffs at Shaws… Happy customers make a business and customers are not happy when you people are unfriendly to them. Shaws will never get my business again. I can’t believe you made it this far with that shitty attitude you all have and I mean all of you.

I was skeptical, but two very high profile, high society women highly recommended Shaw’s. I shopped around «fancier» shops around town, but I got the best deal on a high quality diamond ring here. I tell everyone where I got the ring, lots of compliments on it… Not ashamed to tell everyone I got it at Shaws. Don’t be a snob, give the place a chance.

We really like this place. We bought my wedding set, husband’s band and an extra plain gold band for me here within the last year. I firmly believe we got the best deal in town on my diamond. Hands down. l
They price competitively and have a recent selection. They also push the fact that they’ll order something if you don’t see what you want (sounds like it can be done quickly).
Don’t be thrown by the «and Loan» part of the name if you are in the market for some fine jewelry. This place is really nice.

Do you love flea markets? Do you enjoy sensory overload? How about having 5 people stare at you as walk around feeling like an ant under glass? If so, this is the place for you!
I love jewelry stores. I love to look at shiny, pretty things that I’ll never be able to afford. That being said, when we drove by and saw a jewelry store that we hadn’t visited yet, we made our little u-​turn and headed over there immediately. We walked in and BAM you have the entire family staring at you (I’m assuming this was all family since there was even a young 14 year old kid sitting behind the counter).
This store is not big. They have about 6 cases worth of stuff, so they decided it would be a great idea to cover every single inch of the cases with jewelery. Literally, it was hard to see where one piece started and the next one ended. It was a mess.
The sales people were polite, but it was a little unnerving to have so many people watching your every move. They all sat behind the counter and kept up a conversation amongst themselves, but it was awkward nonetheless. Another reason I think it was all family back there was the lack of professional training. They were all leaning on the glass and covering it up so as we walked by we couldn’t even see the jewelery in that case. They didn’t even bother moving off the case when we got to it. Plus, (and this is me nitpicking at this point), you don’t leave the velvet cases all over the counters to cover up the case. I had to move about 10 different velvet covers just to see what was underneath! This would’ve never happened at a «real» jewelery store.
I’m not sure how great the quality is or how the prices are since no one bothered to really help us, nor could we see any one piece stand out. We rushed out of there in less than 15 minutes – unheard of for us.
