UPDATE: hours after I post original review my vinylux polish that should last 10 – 14 days barely lasted 24 hours! I dropped them from a questionable 3 star to 2 stars. I noticed some reviews say 15 min massages are included. In my original review I stated the massage was fantastic, but only 2 – 3 minutes. I did not receive 15 min massage.
My first time visiting yesterday around 1:30. I was a walk in and they were able to see me right away for regular mani/​pedi. Keep in mind all of this was a weekday (Friday).
Parking is limited, had to park on street. Since it was mid weekday, I was able to park close.
Staff was friendly when they greeted me. After that there wasn’t much talking. I was OK with that and plugged in my earbuds.
Nail color selection was limited. I always bring my own, but this time I opted for their vinylux for my mani. My color for pedi. Their vinyls were very limited and old. They didn’t have many current colors for vinyls or reg polishes. I didn’t look through their shelacs.
$ 30 mani/​pedi, which isn’t that cheap but competitive for the area I suppose. Was supposed to be extra $ 2 for vinyl, but they didn’t charge me for it because it was old.
Now the actual service… Nothing impressive. Pedi water was hot and I said so. They kept running around getting my station set up. I eventually just eased my feet in.
They didn’t do a good job of removing existing (regular) polish off of my nails on hands or feet. Fortunately my toes were being painted a darker color to hide it. After mani I had to request they remove dirt and polish from under my nails. My mani wasn’t done well. I selected a light pinkish color that required 3 coats, I got 2.
The chairs are cheap recliners, not massage chairs. It looked like they had 2 massage chairs for more expensive services. They used plastic tubs set atop old school foot massagers for pedis. They basically just vibrate the water which was unnoticeable. Their salon is on the older, cheaper equipment side.
For the price, I can go to better salons. The only way I would go back is if I was desperate and couldn’t get into my regular salons. This place was 1.5 mi. from home.
The best part was neck massage. They do a really good one for 2 – 3 minutes.

Absolutely the sweetest women ever! I’ve been going here for almost a year and always have the best experience, and leave with the best looking nails. So thankful to have found this Montrose gem and encourage everyone to try!

Nice place and good location. I came here because of the competitive pricing ($ 30 for mani pedi). I tipped 18% but was met with a lot of dirty looks. I asked if she was upset by the tip and she said, «people usually tip more. Usually $ 5 per service, and you had a manicure and pedicure. We offer a private service.» She expected a 30% tip, and by private I guess she meant, 6 chairs and 6 people working. I gave her some more in cash to make her happy. The work was average and one nail chipped the next day. If you don’t mind the pressure and high tip, and you’re in the area, then go for it.

I’ve basically became a regular and come here every TWO WEEKS (the polish lasts this long typically). Ive been here about 8 times already. They have a wide selection of colors and the staff is very friendly. I always get a mani/​pedi for $ 30 and I never feel rushed or annoyed. They also give you a shoulder/​arm/​foot massage too which is AMAZING! I’m very picky about who I let touch my hands and feet since I’ve heard of horror stories, but here they use new clean tools every time and they’re gentle. I’d definitely recommend this place to anybody.

Awful service! I’m never one to complain but I called ahead and made sure they had time for me but when I got there they were rushing through everything. the «15 minute» massage lasted 4 minutes… and my shellac mani looks awful. Then when I was leaving they charged me 45 for everything total and basically sat there staring at me waiting for a tip. So unprofessional, I would not recommend.

I had one of the best experiences today at neon nails. I love that a mani pedi is 30 bucks, and they are very efficient — one person is doing your nails while the other is working on your toes and you relax in a very comfortable recliner. They throw in this back massage that tops some of the actual massages I’ve paid for. Very clean and extremely nice ladies. And while I was there 2 men walked in and got a mani pedi as well! You know it’s a good place when men want to go on their own!

The ladies at Neon Nail are great! I had called ahead to book for 6:00. When I arrived I got a late-​ish start, but I let them know I needed to leave by 6:40 and they made it happen!
I only withheld a star because my request for a rush job got me a less than flawless topcoat. Beggars can’t be choosers. I thought the shop was clean and the service was great, especially the neck/​shoulder massage!
I’ll be back anytime I’m looking for a friendly and cheap mani/​pedi!

Jeanie has been doing my nails for almost 6 years! She’s a perfectionist which I love. My nails come out perfect every single time. She makes sure to take care of me always. I always get complements about my nails once I leave. I typically make my appointments so I know who is doing my nails. They’re all great but we all have our favorites. Best to make an appointment because they do get busy very quickly!

My kids and I have been getting good our nails done here for years! I love the new location, it’s very open bright and pretty and extremely well ventilated which I love since I have problems with asthma.
The staff is the friendliest on earth and they do an amazing job on my mani pedis! They offer shellac and a wide variety of OPI and CND colors and every thing is nice and clean!
I’ve noticed some other reviews have complained that they don’t have «real» mani pedi chairs… umm Yeah that’s because those giant chairs with jets are almost impossible to clean with other people’s dead skin circulating through it, barf! I’ve worked and managed spa’s for years and never allowed the «real» massage chairs since I think they are unsafe and down right nasty! I personally asked the owner not to ever have them and to Not dare order any for the new place… if you like those other chairs then knock yourself out… I’m going to take my cleanable foot tubs thanks. .
I should also mention that as someone who was once a 20 year veteran massage therapist, I think they have the most relaxing massages with their nail services in town!

This is boarder line a three star review, but it’s 4 because you get what you pay for and honestly, I would go just for the massage that comes along with the mani/​pedi. This place is fast, the new location is really cute and clean inside, the ladies who work there are friendly, and it’s the cheapest place around. The bad news, my shellac never last as long as other places and I really can’t figure out why but it just doesn’t. I end up getting chips one or two days later and by the end of the week I need a completely new manicure. Even my pedicure is chipping after a week. In short, this place is great if you need something to last one or two days but if you’re trying to make it through a vacation or multiple holidays with one mani, pay $ 10 more and go somewhere else.

I love this place and the ladies who work there are great. Jeanie, the owner, works there and runs a tight ship. She treats her customers like gold, and her core workers have been with her a long time… and they are all very good at it. If you ever by a fluke received a sloppy mani or pedi at Neon Nails, that worker did not last long.
I always ask for Jeanie and Tiffany for my $ 30 mani/​pedi (crazy good deal), but if one of them is not available when I walk in, I still get excellent service.
Nail art is not my thing, but if you want anything else in regards to a mani/​pedi or sculptured nails, this is the best place in Houston. I’ve paid more elsewhere but it was not as good as Neon Nails… neither the amazing shoulder and foot massage, or the results.

I’ve been coming to neon nails since their location on shepherd and I love it. I had the pleasure of finally meeting the owner who did my mani and she is so nice! We talked about quite a few things, but the main thing she got across was how passionate she is about her business. She takes so much pride in the work they do here and the ladies she employs. She’s constantly thinking of ways to keep costs down. Since it’s located in a pricey area, they don’t make much money but as long as customers are enjoying themselves and leave happy, then Jeannie is also happy. So yes, it’s not a fancy salon, they don’t do nail art. However what they do, they do well. Genuinely a great conversation today :)
Yes, parking is a pain! But today I parked on the street and it wasn’t bad. And yes, they were packed but I wasn’t in a hurry nor did o make reservations. I sat and read while I waited my turn.
If you haven’t come here, try them out. I really do like them. I think it says something when 70−80% of your customer base are regulars! If you’ve had a not so great experience here, try them again.

I’ve been coming here for a very long time. Back then they were at a different location and a mani + pedi was only $ 20. They still have some of the same staff! I see the same manicurist every time I go and usually call ahead to make an «appointment» so I don’t end up waiting forever for her. It’s not at all necessary to make an appointment, Most people just walk in. Over the years I’ve had a few bad experiences, but most have been very very good. The best way for me to do this place is to find a good manicurist I like and stick with her. She already knows basically what I want. It’s rare that I have to tell her to do or not do anything. Also, I currently give her $ 30 + $ 10 tip = $ 40. I use to tip 20% and just let the first available person do it and the results were inconsistent.

I’ll rate it two stars… yes the massage was nice, but it’s a nail salon, I wasn’t satisfied by the result, and they charge 5 $ to remove gel nail polish for first time visitors… it’s just across the street from my house (convenient) for nail ER only.

I come here every two weeks for a regular mani & pedi which is only $ 30! Friendly staff, great work, and they get you out in a timely manner. The nail technicians give the best massages during your services.
There’s no big fancy nail spa chairs. Their chairs are comfy and allow you to put your feet up. They use vibrating bases and plastic buckets with disposable liners. If you are okay with that then you should come.
They use tools that come out of sterile bags and the place is always clean and bright.
Parking is a little slim, but street parking is available. Other than that, there’s no downsides to this place.
I love that they don’t try to pressure extras on you like most nail shops. I enjoy myself every time I come. Also, they do not do nail art so I’ve heard.

I came here with a good friend of mine who is a regular here. I was excited because I thought $ 30 for a mani/​pedi was a great deal. But here you get what you pay for. I wish I would’ve taken a picture of my manicure because it looked like my 5 year old did it. And I really think my son would’ve done a better job. I’m too nice to say anything but it must’ve been obvious that I was not happy because one of the more experienced techs tried to fix it. At this point she was putting a third layer of polish over a shitty paint job. Lulu did my nails by the way. The shoulder «massage» was a joke, it was painful and not relaxing at all. I was hoping to have some girl time with my friend and catch up but the nail techs were trying to talk over us so I couldn’t even hear my friend who was sitting right next to me. It was an incredibly frustrating experience. Also if you wonder if they are ever talking about you these ladies are. I don’t know why they assume I’m not Vietnamese but they even talked about me while I was sitting in the chair. Pay a little more and get better service elsewhere.

Ok so I can agree with the good price and you get an awesome massage with the mani but don’t go if you want a good job. First they don’t even have real nail chairs set up just a massage chair a vibrating pedal stool and a bucket for your feet. I got shellac on my hands and a piece of fuzz got in the base coat. My lady pulled it out and continues with the shellac leaving a giant dent in the middle of my finger. When I point it out she proceeds to attempt to pinch it shut with critical clippers then begrudgingly files it down to start again. Telling me it’s not her fault but my nail is messed up. There was shellac all over my cuticles and missing in spots.
Also they cut my friends finger so bad when putting on solar nails she didn’t stop bleeding for an hour. Don’t do it.

Horrible shop. I went out of my way to go there and when I arrived they said they don’t do nail art. How can you be a nail salon and not do art? Plus they charge extra to remove your polish when getting a new mani/​pedi. Don’t go there!

Great, convenient place for a mani pedi. Includes massage (legs and shoulders). Was $ 32 with the OPI nail polish. The ladies were nice and able to hold a conversation — will definitely be back.
Parking is tricky but there’s plenty of free street parking.

This place is a 4 star place. The only reason I’m giving them a 1 is because of what they did as I was walking out. Horrible customer service!
I selected a mani/​pedi for $ 30 (which is a good price for this area). I customarily tip 20% when I go to a nail salon. Twenty percent of $ 30 is $ 6, which I gave them in cash. As I was walking out I handed the tip to the girl and she did not looked pleased. She then turned around and showed it to another nail girl and she did not look impressed either. This was done right in front of me and two other customers! Needless to say, I won’t be coming back. I’ll take my 20% tip some place else. Also, I brought my OWN polish so the only thing they spent money on is the water for my feet! How rude and unprofessional of them to do this right in front of me.
My nails look good, some sloppiness around the cuticles but nothing major. I’d rather pay a little bit more and be treated with respect in another salon down the street.

I wish this place was in Kansas City! Such a steal at $ 30 for both mani and pedi as well as a shoulder rub. Everything was very clean and the employees were very friendly! I would definitely be a regular if I lived here!

Absolutely amazing experience. $ 30 mani/​pedi with an unbelievable 15 minute hand, arm, leg, and shoulder massage. Would recommend this place to anyone in the Midtown Houston area!

I have been going to the old location for at least a decade. LOVE their new shop a lot better. $ 30 for an intensive mani-​pedi with an amazing shoulder and foot rub. They do a great job waxing eyebrows as well. Very friendly staff and clean facility. Definitely check it out!

I don’t think this place deserves a star. Horrible quality on the nail polish. Started chipping on the 3^rd day. Nail polish basecoat and topcoat is in an OPI bottle but the quality is far being an OPI. Came here twice, first visit was okay since I had both Mimi and Lyn but on the second visit, I had Lulu who did a horrible file job on my pedicure. Did not file right even though I specified, square round but it was rough and uneven. The shoulder massage they give, it’s a joke! I went back to Montrose Nails who is always consistent and great service.

Great service, brand new chairs and equipment. You also get a massage while they work on your nails! I showed a picture of a design I wanted and they nailed it! :)

My go to place for more than 10 years. They’ve recently moved to this new location and the service is still outstanding. No frills but consistently great manicures and pedicures along with a nice massage. Love this place.
