Fantastic custom service. AAA approved the guy was very polite, professional, quick and knowledgeable. I even got a free coffee mug.

We had a key snap on our work truck while out on a service call. Rick came out within half an hour and cut us a new one, and a spare. Thank you for the prompt, quality service!

We bought a house and thought it would be good to get the locks changed asap. I called Templar at 9am and they were out by 11am. David was awrsome, he changed all of our locks and got us new keys within an hour, and the price was very reasonable.

We lost our car keys at the beach today and had to call AAA for key replacement. Not only were they prompt and quick to get to the car, Rick was very understanding about the 4 freezing cold kids hanging around. He did a great job, over and above what we expected. Not only was he understanding about letting the policy holder take the kids home in the other car, after we were in the car and ready to leave he helped offered to help another stranded family. What a great guy!

I am a Realtor & I would never recommend Templar. Simple jobs they should be OK. I explained who I was and what the job entailed. I was never told what paperwork Templar needed for the job. I had to hire a new locksmith to do the same job with no problem. Templar wasn’t even on time. The had 5 days advance notice. I was very disappointed in Templar since they had great reviews. I would never recommend Templar they aren’t on time, sent a new guy who couldn’t make decisions without calling the office. They were just unprofessional.

After reviewing some of the Unilocal reviews, I decided to call a couple of places and spoke with Rick at Templar Lock and Safe. I told him I needed to re-​key a house and get a duplicate Toyota alarm/​ignition key. The appointment was set for the next morning. David showed up and explained some of the possible scenarios with a yet-​to-​be delivered temporary restraining order on an abusive husband. Confident that the legal system would deliver on time and as a concerned father, I told David to go ahead with the job. There were a couple of small glitches due to the circumstances but David worked through them and delivered what we needed to have accomplished. I was impressed with his efficiency and getting the job done. I was also impressed with how smooth everything worked out and how «brand new» the door hardware looked when he was done. The research reveals this is a competitive business. Templar Lock and Safe is reasonably priced and delivers, I recommend them without reservation.

I was visiting family in HB and had my youngest 2 children with me and my mom at Costco. When we got back to the car and loaded our purchases I realized the child safety lock was not turned on on my youngest child’s door. I insterted my key into the lock and before I could turn it the key broke off in my hand. After the initial shock wore off I decided to Unilocal local locksmiths. Templar was one of the first on the list. With only 6 reviews I kept searching but after reading the reviews of the other options in the area I went back to Templar. The reviews were few but all were glowing! So, I gave them a call. Rick answered the phone and was extremely kind and promised to have a truck there within 25 minutes. 20 miniutes later he found me in the Costco parking lot. He was able to salvage the chip from my old key and make a copy of it. In less than 30 minutes I had TWO new keys and he also cleaned out my igniton and lock wihich now work better than before. He only charged me $ 95.00 which was less than I was quoted in my hometown for just a copy of my original key!!! He was clean. polite, and efficient! I would do business with Rick and Templar ANY day!!! Thank you Rick!!!

2^nd time dealing with this company, and I am SO GLAD to know about them! They are AAA certified, which is an added plus for members, but even if you’re not– they offer the most competitive pricing. Even though they are based out of HB and I am in Irvine, they still made the drive to re-​create my key which had been stolen. David came to my aid and was extremely helpful, cordial, and clearly experienced at his craft. My AAA covered $ 150 worth of service, so I ended up paying $ 70 for 2 new keys w/​transponder chips (amazing), plus it came with a spare key that only opens my doors– for those times when I lock my other key inside ;)
Short version: I would not call anyone else for lock & key services. Take that, dealership!!!

I do my research. Needed a backup key for my car which has a «switchblade» key with a chip in it that needs to be programmed to work (lots of keys now need to be programmed). Dealer wanted $$$ to cut and re-​program the keys. Called many locksmiths — Not all locksmiths can cut/​re-​program these kinds of car keys. Another Unilocal-​listed locksmith who does not do car keys recommended Templar then I found out Templar is also a AAA contracted locksmith, which was a huge plus for me — I trust AAA reputation. Don’t need to be a AAA member to call them though.
I had bought a blank key off internet to get cut & programmed. VW dealer wouldnt accept this key, wanted to sell me their own for $ 50 more than i paid online. Templar was willing to cut the key that I had bought and also had their own blank keys for only $ 20 (which was what I paid on internet, but Templar’s blank was better quality than the one I bought). I ended up also buying one from Templar, to have an ‘extra’ extra key.
From my first call to Templar, there was a huge difference in the info. they gave me.
Rick asked me many questions and explained things that could impact the ease with which this could be done. He was so knowledgeable. He met me promptly & it took exactly as long as he estimated. We ran into a few ‘hiccups’ that he predicted might happen, but was able to deal with all of them. Very impressed.
Very professional, and best of all most competitive price of everyone who I had called. Would def, call them again and refer them.

Got recommend this by another company I had called about my truck keys. I called and gave them my information and directions on where my truck was located. The man on the other side said that he would have someone out in about 45 mins later. Few mins later I got called by Rick and he said he would be there in 20 mins I told him to take his time because I needed to go to the bank on my mountain bike. He said to not to worry about it and that he can follow me to the bank. Rick came by quickly and we introduced ourselves and my first impressions of him, were he is a genuine nice guy. I re-​explained what was the problem and Rick is a subject matter expert!!! He quickly diagnosed the problem and got to work… He took the time and explained to me why I was having the problem and what he was doing to preventing any future problems. Less than 20 mins, he had the key fixed and everything was running smooth. He followed my to the bank so I could get the payment out. Rick was even nice enough to get me a discount, but I gave him the full amount because the experience was quick, he came to me and no problems at all… I highly recommend this place!!! If I had another key related problem… I would definitely use them again!

Day started out bad, got up late, didn’t do laundry yesterday and walking into work my heels were … step, flop, step, flop, step, flop… the heel came away from, the sole at 8:30 in the morning, NO ONE IS OPEN my shoes fell apart WTC?
THEN at noon go to the body shop because they messed up my convertible top and they needed to clean it. I get to the body shop and now the key will not turn in the ignition? Again, WTC?
I called AAA and with the Premier membership you have a 150 locksmith credit but the ‘on call’ locksmith wanted $ 480 for a new ignition and key so I said CALL ANOTHER ONE — I called the parts store and the cylinder tumbler can be replaced for about a $ 100 for parts but then the key is a dealer thing for 20 and re-​coded for 80 PER KEY.
The body shop guys toss some junkie black grease in the ignition, it turned, then started, and I’m off to the parts store. Sitting out front of the store on my phone with them and they don’t have the part either but can get it. Then AAA calls about the option 2 locksmith and option 2 for my ignition and needs is $ 280.00, AND HAS THE PART but I have additional questions for the locksmith. Let’s see, I get $ 150 off so it’s $ 130, hmm… this is doable!
I call the locksmith and talk to Rick about the process and what it includes. He was so patient with the lunatic ramblings of the crazy woman with the MONDAY FROM HELL … he’s really passive and I liked the feeling I got from him so I agreed and Templar Lock and Safe from Huntington Beach comes to the AAA parking lot to fix my car. Rick got there really quickly and in about 20 minutes he installed a new ignition AND cuts me another key and codes the ignition and chips that key and then fixes my original key and sharpens it, and puts another top on the key AND he re-​keyed my extra door lock so all the keys will match after my mechanic installs it in next week. Holy Crap THIS IS CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
My dealer keys alone were quoted by Ford at 80.00 each for coding & I had a quote for 100.00 for the door lock remove/​re-​key/​replace — I got it all for much less than what I expected and AAA covered the first 150 so I had the rest but was so JAZZED about the services he gave me — I’m now broke too, but jazzed LOL.

I used Templar when my keys were stolen and they were awesome! I found them through Triple A, and they gave me a great price. Mike was the gentleman who came out and made a new key for me. He was kind and polite.
