Bruce’s Pit Stop

Best place for an oil change in Ithaca! I’ve brought both cars here. They’re no nonsense, quick, and reasonably priced.

This place was the best. I am on a cross country road trip from Texas and had to change my oil. I called another place and they couldn’t get me in for a couple of days but they recommended Bruce’s. They got me in and out within 15 minutes. Didn’t try to up sell me. Showed me how to add my own oil if I needed to on the trip (the oil light had come on because it was low). They were courteous, quick, reasonable and kind. If I lived anywhere in the area, I would come here all the time!

I recently got Nokian tires on my car because Bruce suggested them. We’ve had lots of snow lately, and we live at the top of a steep hill here in Ithaca. I’m a home health aide, and I have to get to work regardless of the condition of the roads. With my Nokian tires, I feel very confident even when the roads are completely snow covered. And they’re all-​season tires, meaning I won’t have to hassle with changing them twice a year! Thumbs up on that!
And also my husband recently had an interior/​exterior detailing job done on his car at Bruce’s. Looks like he bought a new car!
We’re very pleased with Bruce’s.

These guys are pros. Fast fast fast! Great place to go for an oil change and tire rotation. They will get you in and out.

I was hunting for a place to get an oil change before taking a long trip, and I was actually searching for a JiffyLube I thought was around this same area when I spotted Bruce’s. They have a sign out front that reads «Ithaca’s Favorite Oil Change». A bit kitschy and reminiscent of old time small business advertising, but it drew me in nonetheless.
At first I was a bit wary of the time it might take since another car pulled in front of me just as I was working my way into the back driveway. However, the oil change service was quite speedy and they did an excellent job. I could hear and see them doing all sorts of quality checkpoints and working together to get it done quickly. Another thing I appreciated was that they didn’t try to upsell me on all sorts of hooey like transmission fluid flushes, magical unicorn dispersal, what have you.
They do sell and install tires here but I am not reviewing that portion of the business since I just got an oil change. I would definitely consider using them though based on my experience.

I’m torn between giving this place 2 and 3 stars. What I like about it is it’s locally owned, staff/​owners are polite, service is quick and price is reasonable. We took our first car here with no issues. Were very happy with the service.
I actually had no complaints until we took our second vehicle in for an oil change. I was waiting in their waiting room and I could smell cigarette smoke. I took a peek outside and saw that the employees were smoking while working on our truck. The worse part is that our truck smelled like smoke afterwards. For non-​smokers, this was really disappointing and completely turned me off to this place, which bums me out because we like everything else about it. So… if you’re a smoker, go for it! If you’re not a smoker, maybe request that no one smoke while working on your car. Or go someplace else.
