Smart Yogurt

THE BEST FROYO I HAVE EVER HAD!!! I went all the time when I lived in Ithaca and now I try to go every time I am in town to visit! A great range of flavors that rotate often, plus it is made of Greek yogurt so it is filling but not heavy. The taste is amazing, unlike the other frozen yogurts that taste like chemicals.

Smart Yogurt is a great place to stop in if you want a nice frozen treat! The staff is always super friendly and they are always coming up with delicious new flavors. The toppings rock and they always have the regulars size Reese’s peanut butter cups which is an automatic win in my book! Definitely come by for some froyo!

I love frozen yogurt! Smart yogurt offered a wide selection of flavors: fruity and tart varieties (grapefruit, blackberry) to creamier varieties like Birthday Cake and Hazel Nutella. Additionally the have a wide area of topping choices. The establishment was clean, staff was friendly, and at $ 0.49/ounce it wasn’t too pricey. (Except we filled our «small cups» to the brim!)

Super yum. Dark chocolate is DARK and so good. Tart is perfection. Shop is clean, staff friendly. Owned and operated by a local guy. Good stuff. This spot is a Yes!

Fantastic! Made with GREEK yogurt, and you can really taste the kick. Tons of fresh fruit for toppings — strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, even oranges and kiwi! (And also massive quantities of candy if you like that sort of thing!)
Clean & bright inside, lots of seating — outside too.
Also a bonus over yogurtland: they offer a recycle bin for the plastic spoons!
Only downside: no ingredient lists. :(

Great froyo – lots of options.

I have to admit I’m a bit of a Johnny come lately to the frozen yogurt scene, however since my first dabble into this delectable concoction, I feel a bit like a character in the Seinfeld episode about the low fat yogurt. That is to say I am hooked. As of late, I have had the opportunity to visit two of the local frozen yogurt joints, Smart yogurt and Yogurtland and one not so local in what I believe is Big Flats. While All three establishments serve a similar product which I find delicious, Yougrtland, and Sweet Frog, have toppings that are more or less ground up and not very appealing looking. Smart yogurt has toppings that are chopped nicely into actual bite size pieces, not pulverized bits. The candy and toppings are recognizable and look appetizing. Both Smart yogurt and Yogurtland utilize a paper cup, and have the most awesome reusable spoons ever! I know, your thinking, who would reuse this spoon, yuck, I just ate my ice cream off that spoon and now it is clearly trash! Not so, I love having a few of these around to put in our lunch boxes. They are super strong and hold up to the stiffest oatmeal, yogurt, and puddings, They are light weight and superb on camping trips and when your completely finished with them, they are recyclable! Smart yogurt has a bin you can put them in to recycle them on premises, which Yogurtland does not, and Smart yogurt offers the fun blue ones. Yogurtland is in a busy location and is often very busy. The furnishings are fairly clean. Smart yogurt was spotless and fresh looking. Sweet Frog is very dirty.
Smart yogurt is in an unassuming location, a bit further down the miracle mile but in my opinion well worth the time to drive there. Clean, bright cheerful atmosphere, visually appealing toppings, and delicious flavors. I’d give this place 5 stars except they don’t have a peanut butter flavor which is my favorite. Despite the lack of my favorite flavor, Smart yogurt wins my business hands down.

My daughter has been raving about this place since it opened. I finally had a chance to experience it with her last night and now I understand what all the fuss was about.
1. It’s clean. The bathroom is clean. The floors are clean. The sneeze guard is clean. I like clean. Clean is good.
2. The concept is innovative, and original. They do it like no one else.
3. The colors are bright and happy and inviting. The design is streamlined and I love the spoons! I brought mine home with me!
4. As a small business owner I SO appreciate everything it takes to build from the ground up. All the long hours, tough decisions and personal sacrifices that no one sees.
5. Here’s the important part: the taste! The yogurt flavor is outstanding! I was so pleasantly surprised by the creamy texture and the delicate flavors. The topping choices were fun and delicious. I filled my cup and ate it all and despite this fact I didn’t leave with that heavy obnoxious feeling one gets from eating too much ice cream.
6. I love that the yogurt base is made in New York and that the owner (s) made this conscious choice. Somehow this fact makes it all that much more delicious.
My only complaint is that they haven’t opened a satellite store in Painted Post, NY!
I’m sure I will be making this a destination point each time I pass through Ithaca.

Awesome flavors! Love the salted caramel one! The nutella one is very good too! The place is very modern and hip too! Store is very clean! One thing they need to improve on is more more toppings though! Other than that I go here all the time when im in town!

Definitely a step up from the other yogurt places in Ithaca.
It doesn’t have as many people as Yogurtland not too far away so it’s easier to hang out in here. They have plenty of tables and some TVs which were playing ESPN while I was in there.
The yogurt itself is a lot cheaper than what I’ve found at the other yogurt places. I had roughly the same amount of yogurt and toppings and it came out to just over $ 3, as opposed to $ 5 at the other locations. I seriously don’t know how it worked out to be that different but those are some serious bonus points for this place.
You get the usual toppings you see at other places, but the yogurt selection was a lot more interesting here. They have Nutella!
The one thing I didn’t like though was the Los Angeles sports memorabilia they have in the store. But that’s just because I hate LA with great passion so… yeah.

There are so many things that I love about Smart Yogurt!!! First and foremost (obviously) is the yogurt. They make it themselves, it’s delicious, good quality, they have fat-​free options, lots of ever-​changing varieties of flavors, and the fact that you can serve yourself (unlike Pinkberry). Secondly, of course, are the toppings. Huge variety, always fresh and quality products. When I was traveling, I was constantly disappointed by the knock-​off toppings offered at other frozen yogurt places (especially Oreo cookies… nothing worse than fake Oreo cookies! Not only that, but they would be mashed to crumbs, rather than tasty morsels like Smart Yogurt provides). I’m not sure why the review below says they have no whipped cream, as I top my servings with whipped cream EVERY time I go. They have never been out of any product when I’ve been there. They also added Gimme Coffee recently, which is a perfect combo in my book! Not to mention a new location up at the Mall, VERY convenient! Okay, so what else do I love about Smart Yogurt? The fact that it is a local product run by local people. They are always super nice, friendly and helpful. And very appreciative of their customers. You never feel like they wish you would leave so they can close up or whatever. I enjoy the ambiance, very relaxed, clean and comfortable (both indoor and outdoor seating). And last but not least, the price is reasonable (cheapest in Ithaca), they have levelup for customer convenience, and with foursquare and their «frequent fro-​yo» card you can get discounts. They also have a good presence on Facebook so it’s easy to keep up on what the new flavors are, as well as opportunities to suggest flavors. Whenever I mention my OBSESSION w/​Smart Yogurt, I am always met with whole hearted agreement: Smart Yogurt is the best frozen yogurt… EVER MADE!

Best frozen yogurt in town, hands down. My favorite flavors are Cookies and Yum and Salted Caramel and I am always up for trying their experimental flavor, which never disappoints. The only problem I ever have there is trying to limit the number of toppings, baked goods, and sauces I put because there are so many delicious choices! You cannot go wrong with this place – it is clear they have put a lot of time and effort into creating a friendly and fun environment with a very tasty product. Yum!
The only thing I wish would come back is the homemade self-​hardening chocolate syrup!

We just cannot get enough of smart yogurt at our house. Sometimes, at 11:45pm, we all roll out of bed and rush as fast as we can to make it there before midnight. It is always worth it. The flavors, selection, toppings and best of all service is consistently great. I only wish I could eat every meal there. They’re local guys and they make everything in the back. I will not eat froyo anywhere else.

So I recently just went back to give this place a second try and I was not disappointed. I don’t know if it’s the new machines or something else but the new way they are doing their yogurt is awesome.
So I got the birthday cake yogurt and it was awesome. It was a bit drippy, like it had melted a little after I filled the bottom of my cup the rest came out nice and firm. The taste and texture was right on!
The toppings did not disappoint. The cheesecake they have is the best. This is my favorite topping. They also have more choices of the poppers which is awesome. The only thing I wish they had was whipped cream, I don’t know why but I love whipped cream with ice cream haha.
Overall I will definitely be coming back here. Whatever you are doing keep it up!

I think its the yummy spicy food next door that has made me fall in love with this place.
This yogurt is high quality, made from Chobani, and its the cheapest froyo in Ithaca at 46 cents an ounce. The standard price at most places is 50 cents an ounce. This makes a half pound of yogurt here $ 3.68 instead of $ 4.00.
They have the best selection of fresh fruit: freshly cut pineapple, strawberries, and kiwi, and whole blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, and lychee. I love the mochi and bubble tea style jelly topping, these are truly a must at any froyo place. I like to go with the tart flavor with fruit and mochi or chocolate type flavors with candy.

The best Yogurt place in town. Yes, there’s others but this one is seriously superior. They make their own yogurt with Chobani Greek yogurt which is super tasty. They’re always making new ‘experimental’ flavors. If you follow them on Facebook you get lots of updates about what flavors they’re coming up with and you can suggest flavors too.
The topping selection is great and includes lots of fresh fruit and popping boba.
Everything is always super clean and stocked. The employees are nice, and will give you samples of flavors you want to try. If you ‘check-​in’ on Facebook, you get 5% off.

I love that they make their own frozen yogurt (using Chobani Greek yogurt). All their flavors are custom made using real ingredients, which is evident through the great natural taste of the product. Lately they’ve been experimenting with interesting flavors like Cherry Dr. Pepper and Hazelnut. These have been excellent and I hope the experimentation continues.
Their selection of toppings is incredible and includes uncommon items such as lychees and Biscoff spread. I have yet to see the fruit in bad condition; it always looks freshly chopped.
By adopting LevelUp they’ve made the checkout and rewards-​tracking process incredibly easy. The fact that there are rewards at all is a real blessing ($ 5 earned for every $ 50 you spend). If you don’t have a smartphone you can join their rewards program the old school way, with a card you present at checkout.
Finally, and most importantly, they’re tightly integrated with the community. I enjoyed seeing Dustin Brown bring the Stanley Cup to Smart Yogurt so Ithacans could enjoy the victory. I appreciate that they donate to causes around town. I like that it’s locally-​owned.
That said, even if you don’t care about their philanthropic efforts, they still produce the best froyo product in town. I sound like a shill, but I don’t know the owner (s) and I used to write the place off because the froyo was a little icy (that issue has been solved). My coworkers and I stop by almost weekly. Our love is genuine.

Where do I start? This place is amazing! The interior is clean and bright. The owner and staff are very welcoming and always have time to talk about flavors, how it’s made, where to eat in town or what team is going to win tonight.
I was never a big fan of frozen yogurt before I set foot in Smart Yogurt. They have changed my whole outlook. For the record, I did try the other places in town. I decided, hands down, I will always frequent Smart Yogurt! I feel like I am cheating if I go anywhere else.
They make all their flavors in house with fresh ingredients. There are many flavors to choose from. They also have experimental flavors on rotation and are always taking suggestions for what the next one should be. The basics, in one form or another, are always there. They also have flavors that I would bet money I would not like. Good thing I didn’t because they are fantastic. The plain tart is great… and green tea… ummm that’s great too! I usually go with the birthday cake and some form of chocolate (chocolate, brownie or cookies n’ yum).
They have a ton of toppings to choose from. A bunch of fresh fruit, cookies, candy bars and sauces.
They also have a rewards card available. If you rack up $ 50, you get $ 5 off. YES!
Go there, they will not disappoint!!!

We stopped by Smart Yogurt this afternoon because it was hot and muggy outside and we needed to run a few errands in the area. They had ten yogurt flavors (I went with a mix of the tart/​original flavor and the coconut) and a variety of fruit and candy toppings. The strawberries were frozen solid when I bit into them, and the selection of candy was definitely less than what I’m used to seeing in other shops. Overall though, it was a yummy and satisfying afternoon treat.
