Came for a luncheon with 14 people and Frank’s steaks was very accommodating we arrived earlier than expected and it wasn’t a problem. We had a small private room with a private bathroom that could fit up to 20 people. They had a prixe fixe menu for us with a house salad as a starter a selection of entrees and desserts with coffee and tea. One waitress was a little short and abrupt and kept running out fast. I wanted to know what beers on tap they had and they didn’t have a lot all. Apparently they had a lot in the bottle, asked for a menu, they didn’t have one and then the waitress ran out so I guess she didn’t want to tell me any other options for bottled beer. The other waitresses were great though! They were great at refilling our waters and bread basket. We got an additional app for each table of their Cajun calamari and it was good. Came out in probably 5 mins, the rings were large and tender and the seasoning had a good kick(no tentacles tho ! :() Came with a remoulade type sauce to dip In. Not the biggest serving a light serving size for 5 people. I got the petite filet mignon rare and it was cooked perfectly and it was sooo tender. The fries were also excellent and seasoned well. Sautéed broccoli with garlic was slightly al dente and yummy. The chocolate mousse for dessert was a great ending to the meal and I also tried the rice pudding which was also good. I could see coming on a busy night that the parking lot would get full because the restaurant is located in a strip mall. I would definitely come back to Frank’s for a nice meal.

Food is okay, but not as good as the price makes it to be. For the same price you can find better. They offer NYC prices, but not NYC taste. I’ve been there a few times cause it’s close to my job.

I was pleasantly surprised by our experience here for dinner. I have eaten here many years and ago and decided to give it a try once again. We ordered the Caesar salad and baked clams for appetizers. They were each very good. Then we had the skirt steak, creamed spinach and fried onion strings. The steak was cooked perfectly and the creamed spinach was excellent. The onion strings a little undercooked but they were acceptable. Anyone complaining about the prices on the menu should visit PJ Clarkes in Woodbury because Frank’s prices are a bargain compared to PJ Clarkes and PJ Clarkes completely stinks. Frank’s Steaks gives large portions and yes the prices are on the high side but the food was very good and the portions were huge. We had soup to nuts with dessert and drinks the bill was under $ 200. I think any steakhouse where you can have apps, entrees, sides, drinks and dessert for under $ 200 you are doing well. I would definitely go back here again.

Well, not reviewing or adding stars because I haven’t been yet. Going Friday, Dec. 4. Went there about 10 years ago and it was quite good. Not quite Luger good, but good. I’m hoping that I don’t experience what the many negative reviews I’ve read today suggest that I will. I will ‘finish’ this review after tomorrow. Wish me luck Okay…so, now to complete this review, now that I’ve been. Lovely, capable server. Bus guys were very pleasant, actually acknowledging you as you thank them for water or for clearing the table. Food? Not special. Not bad, but not special. The skirt steak may be famous, but I find the sauce sickeningly sweet, and considering the lack of ‘specialness’ everything is overpriced. Not a wild caught fish to be had – all farmed at huge prices. Again, not bad, but not even an aspirant to a Luger. I’ll only return if it’s with a group and they decide on the place, but I won’t be happy that they made the choice to return.

Very good place. Hostess was great. Seated quickly. The swordfish and steak was great but didn’t care much for the seafood combo for 4, which I thought was a little over priced.

Skirt steak was fantastic Calamari was very good as was the chocolate mudslide cake Service was good but my wife and I should have had silver ware and plates for bread before we sat down. We must have asked 2 – 3 times. Prices were reasonable

Great vibe, great place for families and friends. The food was amazing and the service was great. Would definitely keep coming back and try other dishes, appetizers and desserts. Large selection of wine and full bar. Ordered couple appetizers, a soup and baked clams(no pictures but yummy), non greasy sweet potato fries, filet mignon with lobster tail, marinated skirt steak, couple sides and a dessert. All of which I didn’t find any faults.

Underwhelmingly«eh». Sorry Frank, but when you’re charging NYC prices in a strip mall on Jericho Turnpike, where’s all that money going? Maybe to replace the paper table sheets that cover the linen tablecloth? But who cares about that? The skirt steak– Zagat’s «Best in the World?» Who’s world? Wally World? It was tasty but more stringy than a skirt steak normally is. You want a world class skirt steak? Sammy’s — lower east side NYC. Hands down. But I wrote this review because for a while I thought it was just me– however when I was driving my sister back home, out of the blue she commented on her disappointment with the restaurant. Bottom line– if you don’t care about money, and you’re on Jericho Turnpike heading west in Westbury, you can stop in for a decent meal– if you can also ignore the riff raff hanging around in front next door.

3.5 … I hate that we can’t half stars but whatever … So, someone else had picked this place to dine in on a fine Tuesday night… ‘Twas just eh… I think the place in general needs a facelift … It smelled like mildew when I walked in which was totally not what I want to smell when I’m starving and walk into a semi«nice» place… The waitress seats us on the side by the bar like. Why? It’s grungy, smelly and empty over there. And it was freezing. Ate a soup while I waited for the rest of my party to get there and then we were moved to the other side. Thankfully. They try to make it easier for the waiters I guess but who’s the one eating the food… I don’t wanna dwell on that… Eats: French onion soup, tuna steak, marinated skirts, mashed potatoes and creamed spinach … The creamed spinach was my favorite… It was SO good. It’s sad that a side dish hit a home run for me rather than the entrée… Tuna steak was thick and had some tough to cut through white stringy pieces which was annoying but as a whole, it was still tasty. Nice creamy wasabi sauce for a kicker, I liked that… Marinated skirt was good. I’ve had better from tellers(Islip) and christos(Astoria) … It was a nice piece of meat& a little sweet… Nothing mind blowing… Mashed potatoes and French onion… whatever. I heard this place used to be really good… Not sure if they changed staff or what but I thought it was ok. I probably will not return. Also since all these reviews about the groupon like. Why don’t they just remove the damn groupon if they don’t want to honor it? We sat next to a table that was discussing using it and u could tell it was a touchy subject lol I don’t even remember the name of the dessert but that also wasn’t amazing and I’m a huge junk foodie with sweets especially… The food was ok… Staff… Ok… Give this place a face life and get rid of the bartender that blew her nose behind the bar, didn’t wash her hands and then proceeded to handle the mouths of the liquor bottles when pouring… We watched her and ew. I bet people who’ve been coming here for a long time will continue to but there are so many other better options one can find for the same type of food. I also thought for what it was .the prices are steep and I’m not ever one to mention that but I like to pay the big bucks for delicious, mind blowing, memorable food. Not sub par eats and mediocre service that smells like a basement that’s had a previous flood.

Decided to try Franks last Friday evening around 9pm. Typical for the summer, not crowded at all as we are used to the bustling crowds there on the weekends. This was not to be a good day for Franks… Served a bread basket with Italian bread and one looked like pumpernickel raisin roll… both stale! must have been reheated a few times. Asked for new basket and got the bread but no raisin roll? response to where is the roll is that they have no fresh ones left. On to the food: Appy– got the lettuce wedge with bleu cheese and bacon. Lettuce was hard and had to be cut with steak knife. Dressing was great. Entre’s: We both ordered their Marinated Skirt Steak, one rare and one MR with a baked potato and creamed spinach side. My rare steak was really nice and cooked to order. My wifes was not so nice… came in two pieces, both tail ends and cooked to death! Showed waitress and sent it back and got a nice single whole skirt which was fine… Why oh why do they serve crappy pieces of steak and then find it in their hearts to replace it for what you should have gotten when you complain… They cook steaks all the time and dont tell me the chef didnt know what he was serving. Its wrong to serve food this way and hope no one complains to get rid of whats left on the grill due to the time when its slow or before they close. Next battle of the evening was concerning the Groupon we used for dinner. When you look on Groupon to buy the certificate it mentions for $ 59 you get $ 101.85 worth of goods. I got the check and it showed a deduction of $ 84??? When questioned waitress tried to explain that they have a special arrangement with Groupon whereas you must have appy for $ 14.95 maximum and $ 85 to spend on entre for two. She then told us she had explained that their policy was use it or lose it. Conversation was never had. We spent $ 70 on the steaks which brought the allowable total to $ 84 and thats what she credited my bill for. No credit for sides or drinks! What a crock of crap!!! I lost $ 15 on the deal, which considering what the Groupon cost me is not acceptable! Another couple walking past on the way out heard the conversation and said they had the same argument as we did about the Groupon! Anyway, considering all of the above, it will be a cold day in hell before we return to Frank’s. I think they are living on their past laurels but that is not going to keep them in business.

I Wouldn’t Call This Place A Steak House By Far. There Are Plenty Of Steakhouse On Long Island This Ain’t One Of Them. Its Just A Restaurant That Serves Steaks. That Being Said The Skirt Steak Was The Only Thing Good. Even The Sides Were Pretty Bad… The Waitress Felt She Was The Queen And We Were There To Work For Her If I Ever Want A Skirt Steak Again I Might Go Again But Definitely Will Walk Out With The First Bad Look From Any Waiter Or Waitress.

Amazing dinner and server!!! Christopher had a big smile, very friendly and made us feel at home. Oh my what a great steak we had! Everything was amazing, sautéed mushrooms, the bread, the spinach! I’m telling, then we moved on to desserts and we ordered the cheesecake and the rice pudding. I felt in love with the rice pudding, so good!!! I I will come again!

I’m a steak snob so unless you are firing on all cylinders and bringing your A-Game I’m going to be disappointed which is the case with Franks. If you been to Peter Lugers in Brooklyn(not in Great Neck), you know that is the benchmark of what an excellent steak should be. Perhaps we went on an off day, but our steaks were over/under cooked; it felt like Franks kitchen was training first year culinary students. The only good steak we got was their Skirt Steak. As for service, our waitress was Eastern European(I think)…but with less charm and a little attitude. Not that she was rude, but she was rather indifferent and not friendly. There are top tier steakhouses on Long Island such as Bryant Coopers, Prime or Insignia, etc, then you got the second tier ones which based on the food and service we received is where Franks belongs. They are the best $ 40 steak meal $ 110 dollars can buy.

Awful. Frank’s steaks isn’t just dated, it’s downright dirty. The bar was sticky, there were tiny fruit flies swarming over the table in the dining room, silverware was spotty, and the carpet has seen much better days. Even the uniforms that the staff wore were tattered and stained. What’s with the childish«art» in the dining room? Does anyone think this is chic? Garfield and PacMan? Really? Does anyone think it belongs in a steak house that’s going to set you back a couple hundred bucks a person? Unless this restaurant evokes childhood memories for you, I wouldn’t recommend it. As I look back on last nights meal nothing stood out whatsoever. We ordered baked clams which were served on a flat plate, swimming in butter. The bread in the bread basket was not fresh, nor was it house made. My rack of lamb was cooked medium well when I specifically ordered it medium rare. Michael’s steak, although cooked perfectly, was not trimmed. The sides? Hungry Jack could have made better mashed potatoes. Spend your money elsewhere. Rothmann’s, Ruth’s Chris, Capital Grille, and Tellers are far better values for your money.
