Nj Helpers

I have moved in the past couple of years about ten times now and I have to say that my experience with Nj Helpers was by far the best. The professionalism of the movers and the owner was more than I could ask for… I thought, because their rate were cheaper than most, it wouldn’t go as I hoped for, but boy was I wrong… It had definitely exceeded my expectations!
Before I go any further I have a bone to pick with the last two people that left Ricky a bad review.
My rate was for the two movers and Ricky’s truck (I forget what size it was, but it fit my small two bedroom). Hector and Victor, two young helpers that left me in awe over the work they completed, did such an amazing job. While they were moving, wrapping and disassembled my furniture, Ricky and I were talking about his business, his family and so forth. It was then I had brought up the last two bad reviews I had seen on his Unilocal account.
Ricky showed me the details from both his reviews. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THE NERVE OF ERICA AND POONA! Let’s start with Erica. I saw the website you entered your details on. So you misguide them with false information and because they were not fit to play your games, you end up writing this ridiculous review. I went from a third floor to a third floor. The rate I went with was hourly, in which the stairs are included! Now on a flat rate, if you both agreed on what was provided, then your rate is made according to your details. Now they show up, to things that were NEVER mentioned and you expected them to just do the work and not get paid for the surprises you had! That’s so ridiculous
Ricky didn’t have to explain that to me. That’s just plain COMMONSENSE! I saw EVERYTHING! From the details you added on the website, to his bid. Erica K, Ms. Sneaky. You deserve a bad case of karma.
Now let’s move onto Poona. I saw the email she failed to completely fill out and the text messages. He had to ask you nearly every question twice because you were not answering them fully. If I was in his shoes, I would do the exact same. So that what happened with Erica K would not happen on this move. So a bad review was written after he saw you sent two different pictures of boxes. Trying to be sneaky by hiding the amount of boxes. And then you send a pic
I am so sorry for taking so long to write this, Rick. You know how it is. From working to unpacking, to all our busy life schedules, etc. All I can say is you will definitely succeed with the customer service you have provided. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am so sorry that you have to deal with such spiteful people and I hope that this review shows that your business is definitely worth it. Great customer service and professionalism!

Ricky was very helpful. Even though Ricky himself had a health emergency on the day of my moving, he made sure that my moving got done by his crew. He followed up to make sure everything went well. I moved within JC from Paulus Hook to Newport. No sudden change in pre-​set flat fee quote, and the move went smoothly.

Richard and Robert moved me from a shared two bed in JSQ to my own Studio downtown Jersey City very effectively and quickly, even with my new ridiculously narrow 3 story stair case. Both were incredibly kind, friendly and diligent in the work as soon as they clocked in they were lifting and moving. Robert is insanely strong and was lifting some of the heavier pieces on his own with a smile on his face the whole time. Everything made it inside my new space in 3 hours with no damage to my things and lots of quick on the spot problem solving completed.
I recommend them fully for your moving needs!

Absolutely horrible moving company! AVOID! I used Ricky when I was moving out of a duplex apartment. I gave him an exact quote of every box & piece of furniture I was moving. They showed up a couple hours late with a van & had to do multiple trips with boxes, until someone finally showed up with a truck to move my couch, bedroom set & other pieces of furniture.
The move ended up taking over 8 hours, when it only took 3 ½ when I moved in with another company. He then had the nerve to charge me almost double because he said it took longer then he expected. When in fact it was his own fault it took so long, because he sent ONE guy & his teenage son with a van to move a 2 bedroom, duplex.
When the guy with the truck finally showed up at almost 6pm. The truck was absolutely filthy.
None of my furniture was wrapped properly. They tore my new couch & destroyed my bedroom set.
I left numerous reviews on there website, but Ricky kept deleting them.
These are not professional movers. Do yourself a favor & hire a reputable moving company.

AVOID! UNRELIABLE & UNPROFESSIONAL
Ricky Burgos is a little weasel that will try to talk his way out of everything. He will sound very friendly and accommodating on the phone. Don’t be fooled by it!!! This is not even a real professional moving company. They do not accept card or personal check, only cash.
The move was scheduled for Saturday arrival between 10−11AM but he had to drop his kids off at his dad’s, so extended the arrival time to a little past 12PM. He showed up at 2:40PM. He showed up in a brand new RENTED Budget truck. Really? This alone should exemplify how unreliable and unprofessional he is. Oh and I didn’t get confirmation until 2:10AM on Saturday via email.
Well to make matters worse — I am in Apt 4. In Manhattan, it is safe to assume it is a walk up. So after he gets to my place and we walk up to my apartment. He kept on ranting about the stairs, saying this wasn’t part of the job description, but Ricky and his mover proceeded to move things out of my apartment. If the stairs were such a problem, then maybe they shouldn’t have touched my things before trying to negotiate a new price. He asked me to stand outside and watch the truck in case of parking tickets. When we get outside, he tells me he has bronchitis/​asthma and that the stairs are a problem. Again, really? Obviously, you are in the wrong business… So he said that the quote he gave did not include the stairs and said he will now need to charge $ 500 for the move. My move only had a twin mattress, metal bed frame, three drawer dresser, small book shelf, and maybe about 10 – 15 boxes/​ikea bags. Of course I said no and cancelled the move. He started yelling at me saying I screwed him over. There was one ikea bag and a book bag moved onto the truck. He said, «I’ll be a gentleman and put these back for you,» then as he was walking up the stairs he said, «You know what, this b**** is going to leave me a bad review. Leave her things in the hallway.» Ricky and his mover left all of my things on the 2^nd, 3^rd and 4^th floor stairway. Well here is your bad review. AVOID RICKY BURGOS/​NJ HELPERS/​MOVERS ON THE HUDSON.
I needed to sign the lease on my storage unit by 5PM but Ricky was so late that I didn’t have time to hire a different company to move and make it to Hoboken in time. Luckily, this happened on a Saturday. I was able to reserve a 10′ Uhaul truck for Sunday. When you rent an Uhaul, you have to option to hire loading/​unloading help. 2 guys, 2 hours = $ 100. My move ended up being three and a half hours, totaling $ 175. Then I gave them a $ 50 tip. Total move cost me under $ 300 (includes truck, helpers, tip, toll and gas).
This was my first time driving a 10′ truck and it actually isn’t that bad. You are way better off renting your own truck and hiring helpers than relying on fake moving companies like NJ Helpers.

This guy is ridiculous. After I posted this, he is harassing me via text. Seriously, if he cared so much about getting a good review, he should learn the basics of customer service. If stairs are a problem, don’t say things on your website like, «no additional fees for walk-​ups.»
I hope my review can help people avoid being stressed out on moving day with an unreliable company like this one.

This guy Ricky and his Squad are absolutely exceptional! He moved all of my belongings in no time way faster than I even expected. The price was very reasonable and made me happy to tip him and his guys. I’ll definitely be using his Services again if needed and will recommend him everywhere!!!

Ricky and his team are BY FAR the best movers I have ever come across in the tri-​state area. No exaggeration at all! Ricky is hard working, honest, and more than willing to help you out any way you can. Moving in NYC can be one of the worst experiences, especially if you go with a bad mover. Lots of movers will offer you a FlatRate based on a conversation, however, they will always try to charge you more on the day of your move. Other movers will charge you by the hour and clearly drag their feet. Ricky will start the clock right in front of you and his team doesn’t stop working until the job is done. No breaks, no complaining, no asking for tips. Honest, hard working, and reliable. As someone who worked for one of the largest movers in the city for quite some time I will always recommend Ricky and his team over the big guys.

Solid service. Long due review I wanted to pen down. These guys helped me move my 1-​BR apt just a day after the heavy snow blizzard of Jan 2016. They move wasn’t far, probably a mile apart. Two moving companies bailed out due to weather conditions (wont blame them, ppl were not able to pull out the cars forget about trucks). Ricky said he has been able to pull out his truck and can get his two ppl.
Ricky arrived with his truck and two men pretty much on time. After the 3 hour timer was set, we just started rolling. I want to give a BIG shout out to one of his start movers, Hector (not sure if I recall the name correct) but that guy is solid. He is just 18 yo big guy, but he can work and can work fast and smart. At one point in the target building he alone carried big queen sized memory foam mattress by himself over his head (the mattress is a beast and even 3 ppl have a tough time tackling it). I had my brother, sis-​in-​law and one friend to help me. Definitely one has to keep pushing a bit at times or drive so that time doesnt go overboard.
Also a BIG shout to my folks who helped me and made the move possible within 3 hours. Hectors smart way to putting stuff for optimal use of every round of elevator really helped get it done without paying extra minute. The other guy who was helping out was decent too — older guy, slower but we and even Hector at times did drive him. Not sure if Ricky also helps in moving but that day he didnt get out of the truck, was just driving. He did a great job pushing the truck through the snow filled driveway of the building service entrance to get as close as possible to the entrance.

These guys are fantastic! I had a horrible moving experience with a company moving here from Atlanta and was really in a bind! Ricky showed up with knowledgeable well mannered guys and in only ½ day, they made me 100% better by showing me that they were willing and able to do whatever was needed to correct what others had messed up!
Since that ½ day in the 2^nd week in December, I have had them help me at least 3 additional times and was totally impressed with everything they’ve done!

This was a joke. Showed up late and when they realized they were moving too fast took 2 hours to take a railing off, broke a hallway light. I ended up moving more of the stuff then the two pathetic movers on the second leg of the move. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS!
Also asked for a receipt to no avail.

I used Ricky before for my last move about 2 years ago. Ricky was very responsive and I was able to have them move me on a Saturday morning from Morristown to Tewksbury. They let me know when they got there and moved me quickly, within 3 hours which included travel time! During the whole move, they were joking and laughing with us, which made the process so much easier! I’ve recommended Ricky to my boyfriend and old neighbors and all of us have had a great experience! I will use them again if I ever move!

These guys did a great job. I was moving from 1^st floor in jersey city to 3^rd floor (walk-​up) in hoboken and had a ton of stuff. They were able to finish the Job in about 2.5 hours which was a lot shorter than i anticipated. They showed up on time and Rickey was in constant contact with me to confirm/​let me know the status of his guys.
Angel was awesome. Worked hard and very familiar with area.
Would use them again. Highly recommend.

I must admit I was a bit surprised at the quality of this move because after dealing with Ricky on the phone he seemed very attentive and responsible. First, the good things: Ricky gave me a good and reasonable price for a local move and the two movers completed the job very quickly (a 1 bedroom apartment move) in under the expected time. That being said though, I didn’t get confirmation of my move the night before until about 11:00pm, and on the day of the move they arrived 45 minutes late and didn’t give me a call to let me know where they were, were not careful with my belongings– were dragging them on the floor and bumping them into walls at the moving facility, and importantly they did not bring enough wrapping supplies or blankets to cover up my furniture. Because of the lack of wrapping supplies, many of my pieces were uncovered (it was pouring rain) or wrapped once around in plastic wrap (why bother). While the movers themselves were friendly people and kept a positive attitude throughout the whole move, at the very end of the move before payment was due they reminded me that their «tip should be handed out individually». I was really taken by this and will probably not use this company again.

Ricky will not show up at the day of move out. I rate the service highly unreliable. A day before the move, I got to know he has double booked two folks in my building and didn’t show up even for one. I was following up for a week and no response. I think it is one man army and one phone line. You get good price with zero probability of the guy actually showing up.
Get some professional service or book a u haul as back up.

Ricky’s helpers were knowledgeable, efficient and exceeded my expectations. I contracted two helpers to load my belongings into a truck, they wrapped my furniture and loaded the truck in a timely fashion.
My belongings made it across the country intact all thanks to the way the truck was packed.
I highly recommend this service for anyone looking for expert movers.
P. S. This is the first time I write a review for services, that’s how good they are!

I had a bunch of boxes that needed to be moved from a 2^nd & 3^rd fl townhouse near Bayonne to a 3^rd fl walk-​up in downtown JC, somewhat last-​minute. Ricky was organized, professional, friendly, and gave me a very reasonable quote (that did not change). He and one other mover completed the task at lightning speed without any problems. I will definitely use NJ Helpers again! Thanks, Ricky!

Ricky and his associate moved a TV from my house to another apartment. Professional and courteous, they completed the pick-​up in 20 minutes.

Ricky and his crew have helped me a few times. Ricky’s great, family man, absolutely kind, and will do a better job solo than any team you’ve ever hired. I’ve called him back to back for jobs that were a week between one another, and he was available and ready with a smile, working with my schedule. No damage, no riff raff, just came to do the job he was supposed to.
Did I mention it was pouring raining one time he helped? He didnt even complain or mention it.
Moving sucks. At least get someone who will make it as easy for you as possible…

I moved on March 2^nd from a 3 bedroom apartment to a storage unit ricks crew was fast very careful with items. extremely experienced very friendly

Ricky and his team were great to deal with. I had a simple move for one room from one floor to another in the same building. Other movers wanted to charge me a minimum rate of $ 600. Ricky was responsive, offered a very competitive rate, let me know what the add-​on costs for additional hours were up-​front and stuck to his word.
They were SO nice, polite, responsive to our requests and did everything in a very reasonable time and at half the cost.
I am very happy with them and definitely recommend them.
