Island Motion

This experience was awesome! chad dropped the mopeds at our door, taught us how to ride, and made sure we each had a helmet that fits. He was super nice and the scooters made for a once in a lifetime experience on the island. We had so much fun we wanted to keep them for a few extra hours so we could hit up some beaches and Chad was super nice and understanding. I highly recommend doing this!

This was by far the best time I had in Maui. The scooters really give you the chance to really enjoy the views of Maui. I was a little scared at first but as long as you drive in the bike lane you’re good. We went every where on our scooters. I just wish I rented them earlier in my trip. I highly recommend renting the scooters here, they even delivered them right to my Hotel.

If you’re reading this review thinking «Should we really?» the answer is YES! This was my first time on a moped and I was comfortable almost immediately. If you can ride a bike and drive a car, you can do it… Just wear a helmet (Island Motion has them for free!) and be kind to the cars behind you by pulling over for them to pass :)
We rented mopeds for our last day on the island and cruised ALL around. It was so much fun to ride the curvy roads above Paia — the mopeds were in optimum condition, Chad dropped them off right when he said he would at our friend’s house all the way up in Haiku for no extra fee, hung around to make sure we were comfortable and safe and met us at the airport to pick them up! We completely forgot to top off the gas when we returned them to him at the airport — sorry Chad :(
Couldn’t have asked for a better experience, price, or person to show us the ropes. Do it, and do it with these guys — you’re in for a great ride!

We rented from Chad and he dropped the mopeds off at our vacation rental! He also stayed to help us get comfortable riding the mopeds. He was very honest and open. Just under $ 100 for two mopeds. We did the road to Hana on them. This was a lot of fun! Chad also came to pick the mopeds back up.
Highly recommended!

Definitely worth the money, in fact you’re getting more than what you pay for with delivery of the moped so make sure to tip. Garret was really helpful and a friendly guy. I highly recommend renting from these guys and exploring Maui on 2 wheels :)

My wife and I visited Maui for our 15-​year wedding anniversary and had an incredible experience from beginning to end, especially with Island Motion. Garrett picked us up at the airport and took us, our luggage and mopeds to our hotel, which was a solid 45 minutes from the airport.
We had a BLAST and rode our mopeds all over the island. We brought a backpack for Safeway runs and for our shopping trips to Lahaina and had so much fun, much better than a rental car. For times that we went to dinner, we took our hotel’s shuttle and never missed not having a car. It was a beautiful way to enjoy the island, no drama with parking, if you wanted to see something, just pull over and take a picture. Riding through Wailea at night with my wife and smelling the plumerias is a memory I’ll have for the rest of my life! And over 5 days and hundreds of miles, we spent about $ 15 in gas. Can’t beat that!
Most of all, I appreciate Garrett’s aloha spirit. He texted us on our anniversary wishing us well, we saw him out in town at a local pizza joint and he greeted us and he was on-​location immediately when we had a minor mechanical issue with one of our mopeds.
This is THE way to see Maui and Island Motion is THE place to get what you need.

My boyfriend and I rented scooters from Garret twice while we were in Maui (we took a couple of days on another island, rented scooters from him before and after our side trip). He was incredible. He drops off and picks up the scooters at your choice of location, which makes it extremely convenient. He takes the time to walk you through the basics of riding (we ride motorcycles, so this part was pretty short for us), and then takes it a step further to tell us about the unique quirks each scooter had (it’s part of the territory when you ride 2-​wheeled vehicles, they’re all a little quirky in one way or another!).
But Garret himself made the experience amazing. He was friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable (he gave us some recommendations on some of his favorite places to eat and drink, which we tried and loved), at one point he even offered us a lift to the airport! He’s not only a good businessman but he’s good people too, you should definitely check him out.

Garrett has an excellent reputation on the Island for his general knowledge of Maui and his excellent customer service and he will deliver the bike to you.

My husband and I were on our honeymoon and wanted to go on the Road to Hana. We didn’t want to go in a car or on the bus so we decided to go there in scooters. The best decision we have ever made and Garrett and his company made it that much better. It is so much easier to stop and take pictures and believe me if you take your own car you will regret not getting a scooter. Also these scooters are a little bit faster than everyone else’s which helps going uphill. This was an amazing once in a lifetime experience and there is nobody we would recommend more than Island Motion.

My wife and I stayed in Pa’ai for a week and rented 50cc scooters. They ran great and we only spent about $ 8 total on gas for both bikes. Garrett is an awesome guy! He made us feel super comfortable and gave us a great deal for the long term rentals. If you are staying for a more than a couple days I suggest renting scooters long term. It’s really fun to hop on the scooters and head into town or the beach and not worry about parking. We rode them out to Hana which was my favorite part of the trip. Once you get to the winding part of the road I can’t imagine being stuck in a car. It’s was perfect to be exposed to the sun and rip around those corners.
Plus, Garrett dropped off and picked up the bikes from our rental house. It could not have been easier.

After getting to Maui, we really wanted to travel around in a scooter. We called around and Garrett was the most friendly most accessible guy around! He rented us a super nice scooter all clean and gassed up! He took the time to help us find helmets that fit perfect, if you ride thats the most important task even though in Maui helmets aren’t required. If I had to pick the person who epitomized Maui hospitality, it would be Garrett and his team.
Scooter ran very well, we went about 100 miles on about a gallon of gas. There were no problems at all, he even included in the rental two helmets, some tie downs for baggage for convenience and a chain /​lock for security. I will Definitely rent from him again. Don’t give your money to enterprise or hertz when you can support local businesses, plus you get accessible parking everywhere you go in Maui!

This place made my trip all the more awesome! Getting around Maui on a moped is a great way to navigate all the narrow twisty roads.
Island Motion is completely hassle free. The owner really made me feel welcome and spent time showing me some great places to go.
I rented for a full week and would highly recommend!

This place is AWESOME cool!!! Garrett is one bitchin dude. I highly recommend you try this place out if you’re looking to rent scooters for a little cruise around. The rates are very reasonable and the service is top notch. My girlfriend and I had a super fun time on the scooters. They are great way to make your way around the island.

Awesome deal great service. Garret went out of his way to make sure our trip was awesome. His big scooter was perfect size for a big guy like me.

Awesome daily rates! They delivered the scooters right to where I was staying and picked them back up the next day. There is a $ 250 security deposit required per scooter, but it gets reimbursed to you when you return the scooter undamaged. The owner also gave us a great map and helpful tips for the part of the island we were exploring. Overall, had a great experience!
