Mike combined his undergraduate and graduate degrees in business with his passion for the outdoors and active lifestyle to create The Oahu Experience. The Oahu Experience is meant to pass along the aloha spirit and help others feel at home while on Oahu. Mike loves the Aloha State and would like to help you feel the same way with your own personal Oahu Experience.

My husband and I had the BEST day with Mike and his fiancée, Lauren! They picked us up at 9am sharp and we began our tour straightaway by doing the Maunawili Falls hike. Mike knew to take a shortcut so we could avoid the muddiest parts of the trail. When we got to the waterfall, we were basically the only ones there! We got to swim into the water, climb up the rocks on the side and jump back into the pool, as many time as we wished! Mike was awesome and climbed up to the side to film us and capture our jumps! In fact, we barely felt the the need to take any photos during our entire tour because Mike caught everything on his GoPro for us!
Other highlights of the day:
— Going to a macadamia nut farm and trying different samples
— Stopping by Giovanni’s shrimp truck
— Eating grilled banana bread with passionfruit ice-​cream at a local farm
— Snorkeling and seeing a giant sea turtle feasting on coral algae
Essentially, any time my husband or I mentioned something we thought about doing — Mike could think up a recommendation. If it was on the way or around the area, he would offer to stop and let us explore for a bit!
We had an amazing experience with Mike/​Lauren — we able to basically cross off our entire Hawaii honeymoon bucket list in one day! Now the rest of our time can be spent exploring all the extra recommendations they gave us to try!

My friend and I had such a blast with Michael! He took us to four different hiking spots, and he was so incredibly accommodating. It’s clear he loves what he does, and we felt so safe with him! I would highly recommend booking a day with him if you’re wanting to try some hikes that you’ve never done before! He had plenty of water for us and also brought snacks! It was overall such an amazing experience!

Just spent 4 days with Mike. We hiked Mt. Ka’ala, Pu’u Ohulehule, Kaiwa pillbox to see the sun sunrise, Nu’uanu Pali Lookout waterfall, hit up the Bishop museum and planetarium, some ruins, the beach, and more. Mike was awesome, he knew all the great spots and places to eat (never had better Hawaiian, Jamaican, or Thai food in my life), and made the trip a totally custom experience. Such a jammed packed trip. Sad to leave. Thank you so much Mike! The O’ahu Experience is top notch and without a doubt the best way to see O’ahu.

I felt so safe on my hikes with Mike, despite challenging him to take me to some of the scariest hikes on the island. I just always knew we were in safe hands. He knew so much about all the hikes we went to, and the culture of the island itself. He was the perfect guide: always available for questions and guidance and stories and laughter, but also struck that balance of giving us the space to explore on our own and feel like we’d really earned the adventure.
If you’re looking for a true Hawaii experience, go on a hike with Mike! It’s bound to be one of the most memorable parts of your trip; I know it certainly was for me!

I think the beaches and water activities in Hawaii are great, but you really haven’t seen the best Hawaii has to offer until you’ve done a hike and seen the gorgeous plants and scenery that only the islands can offer.
Mike has taken me on hikes to literally each corner of the island and he always knows exactly where to go, how to catch the best views or find the rope swings into the water or find whatever secrets each trail has. He is friendly and personal so whether I’ve been part of a small group or just hiking one on one, the time has flown by.
When traveling I want to have a good time, but I don’t want to have to worry about logistics and that is my favorite part. The Oahu Experience picks me up, takes me to the hike, provides the snacks for the longer hikes and makes the most of my precious vacation time.
I would recommend this whether you have never hiked in your life or if you want to see the most extreme scenes on the toughest trails. I’ve been on all the difficulty ranges with Mike and he makes it an enjoyable time no matter what your hiking background is.
