Myzzer Rodent Exclusion

It’s late at night and I discovered a mice running across the kitchen. Freaked out and terrorized buy these fast running furballs, I called three exterminators the very next day (Eastside, Orikin, Myzeer and StopBuggingMe) to get quotes and schedule appointments
Myzeer (and Chris) was the only company that was fast, sympathetic. knowledgeable, innovative and honest enough for me to work with.
Tips:
1) Rodent control is an on going problem for many as you never know when and where the next batch of mices or rats will. Whoever you go with, get a maintenance plan
2) Be clear on prices before any exterminator inspects your house. There are no free inspections. Most charge 150 – 200 to inspect and plug small holes which include follow up visits up to 3 months.
3) Find someone knowledgeable with experience. Myzeer’s been doing this for years, he understands the culture of mices and rats. Stay away from any companies that recommend the use of poison. The last thing you want is for rodents to die in your walls.

I am bummed I went with this company. Seriously — I didn’t get much and I paid a lot of money… See, when we went through a home inspection prior to purchasing our home, we were told we could possibly have a rodent problem (insert photo of mummified rat here…)
Just a heads up — the folks who answer the phones are hard to understand and have a hard time understanding you. Anyhow, Chris came over to do the initial inspection and I have to say, he is super nice. He crawled around my crawlspace and walked around the outside of the house. He mentioned there was evidence of rats and gave me the spiel about my ducts needing to be wrapped, cutting back on trees, blah, blah, blah.
Anyhow, I decided to have the wrap my ducts and signed up for their 3 month rat patrol plan. Well — they came out once (when I called) to check the initial set traps. Radio silence after that. I am pretty sure I have pb filled rat traps in my crawl space. For all I know the neighborhood rats are having a pb buffet down there.
I don’t know much about how to properly wrap ducts, but I am pretty sure you’re supposed to use insulated material and not the pink fuzzy stuff held in place with duct tape… adiós $ 2000.
Don’t use this company. You’re welcome.

I would love to give Myzzer a great review as I love the one’s I’ve read, but since I can’t get a hold of them to use their services, that’s tough. I emailed about a week ago and never heard back. Then, I called their answering service and was told someone would call — they never did. Now, I just called their number again and it was disconnected. Bummer — they sounded like they were just what I needed and I would have loved to have given them my business.

Yesterday found a mama mouse had given birth to her litter in the paneling/​door well of our family van. Called Myzzer Rodent Exclusion and was so impressed. On the phone the woman who scheduled me (Alma) was super friendly and accommodating. Chris came the next morning and assessed our situation. He got us what we needed and most importantly answered all my questions about possible scenarios. I would call them in a heartbeat if we had another rodent problem. I would even wait until they were available because it’s hard knowing who will treat you fairly.

We thought we had a rodent problem so we called Myzzer and they were out at our house the next day. They did a thorough inspection and thankfully we didn’t have any problems. If we do see any rats around in the future, Myzzer will be the first place we call!

We now live in woodinvile, in a beautiful home surrounded by woods. So I guess it wasn’t shock that a mouse snuck into our house. I immediately went on Unilocal after getting this furry critter out of my house. Myzzer came up with the most positive reviews for rodent extermination. I immediately called and spoke to Chris, the owner and scheduled him to come over the next day to inspect our crawl space. He came over spent about an hour looking at the crawl space and around the exterior of our home. He was very polite, friendly, and informative. He wrote up a bid for quarterly service, trimming some trees away from the house, and re-​doing our crawl space vapor barrier and insulation. The previous owners had patched the insulation and laid rat traps, but we had mice that had started to nest in the insulation:(
So before agreeing to the work, I requested two other estimates from pest extermination companies (I learned there’s a difference between pest and rodent control). Both companies wanted to schedule a monthly service, locked bait boxes for outside, and higher estimates for cleaning and putting new insulation in our crawlspace. One company representative took photos, told me that the traps set by Myzzer had no bait, and that 1% of deer mice carry hantavirus. Plus both companies monthly fee was double what Myzzer’s was. So of course I was panicked and called Chris back at Myzzer I summarized my fears and what the other companies had said. He calmly explained to me how the process worked again, brief history of how rodent control works, his experience, and what he typically sees in homes and how he fixes it. We spoke for about an hour, I really appreciate him taking the time to explain everything and calm me down.
We had our crawl space work completed, new vapor barrier, disinfectant, and all new insulation. I am really happy with the service, cost, and our overall experience with Myzzer.

I was not too impressed with this company. My main gripe is that they charge for estimates but don’t reveal this (they put the onus of burden on you to ask, so I guess it is my fault for assuming). Also, I don’t see a ton of value in what they are peddling. Here is my experience:
When setting up the estimate the woman on the line took all my information (address, details about the problem, etc) and set up a time for an estimate. Everything sounded fine and I booked him.
The inspection was a walk around the house to identify that there are areas that could permit a rat or whatever to enter the house and an action plan. The action plan was to cut off some branches from a tree, put steel mesh up to block access and to set about 6 traps and check on them for rodents. To execute this plan I was quoted $ 299 for traps, $ 99 to block access and $ 190 or so to cut the branches from the tree. He was going to check on them 2 times in a month and then apparently the problem should be solved. I guess.
This was a little too rich for my blood and I was about ready to say «thanks for your time, but I am going to do that myself» but then he dropped something on me:
«If you sign today, I will take off the $ 75 inspection fee.»
I wasn’t ever told about this being a fee-​based inspection anywhere along the line. That’s kind of a bummer of way to operate, right? Just not telling people that you are going to charge for an inspection, then holding them over a barrel. I complained a little bit and got the run-​around during multiple phone calls where they were really confused with a final word from them of «you are going to pay what you owe.»
Here’s my advice: if you know you have a rodent problem and are not capable of setting a few traps and checking on them 2 times in a month, then go ahead and have them come out for an «estimate» but just know that it is going to be at least $ 300. OR, if you feel like you want someone to tell you that you have rats and should set about 6 traps and check on them 2 times in a month, go ahead and call them and pay the man $ 75.
To be fair, he did show up on time.

Myzzer was extremely fast, courteous and professional. We had a rat infestation and they were able to take care of it in less than a week and on New Year’s Eve.

Great service, solved the problem that I couldn’t solve myself. Early in the morning, I caught a glimpse of a rodent scampering across the floor. Couldn’t find it. Bought a bunch of glue traps, mouse traps and a rat trap. Set them up. For two nights, no result, except finding more droppings. Called Myzzer, Chris showed up on Saturday (an hour late, but…), and said, «Baby rat, came in through the deck door (which we leave open at night). He set some new traps, w/​peanut butter, and BAM! got the little guy on the first night. Great service, they know what they are doing.

Unilocal screwed me on this recommendation. I found MYZZER because of the massive amounts of positive reviews on Unilocal.
Their website states: The Myzzer RIP Program (90 days)
This program is 2 visits. The first visit seals your home and begins trapping. The second visit 3 – 4 weeks later removes all dead rodents. If all traps are full or if poblem persists another visit will be set at no additional charge. The home is under warranty for the remainder of the 90 days.
First I was quoted $ 399 for this service. When I received a call back from Chris he quoted me $ 299 for this service. Seems legit. $ 300-​$ 400 for a 90 day guarantee so we called them out and trusting Unilocal I was excited to have things handled.
The first visit was actually just an evaluation identifying entry points and making notes of them. Then he tells me:
«It’s going to be $ 299 for the 90 day service AND it’s going to be $ 300 for „seal work“ which covers pipe holes, cement cracks leading into the basement, gaps around door jams. You don’t want to use foam you want to use steel mesh. I also recommend that because you have SO MUCH square footage it wouldn’t be unusual to have something show up in 6 months. So it may be better to pay $ 699 and go with a 1 year guarantee. For the 90 day you get 3 visits in the course of a month and then you go to warranty for the rest of the 90 days. With a year agreement we run you through 3 visits in the course of a month and then we send you to quarterly (we see you every 90 days). That’s pretty much all you need to know. Lucky for you, there’s not much if any damage to repair. However… there’s a tree that is too close to the roofline, Do you have a gardener — we could cut the tree back but it won’t be pretty and we’ll have to charge you for it. You have to have 3′ of clearance from the roofline.»
Ok. If I have to pay someone to trim my tree I guess I’ll pay the professional. So I had my gardener trim the tree, it was too early to prune but it was done to be in compliance with their request.
I decided to go with the 90-​day $ 299 and if there becomes a secondary problem we’ll have him back out and pay for a full year. He handed me the quote… $ 299 for the 90-​day service and $ 300 for «seal work» I asked how he gauges the price for seal work and he explained if I’m fixing a few holes I don’t charge, if I’m fixing a lot I charge.
Then he leaves and says his technician will be out the following day.
So «Lucky for you, there’s not much if any damage to repair» but I’m still charging you as if there was. Whatever. Everyone has to make a living, right?
The next day, a very nice technician comes out in his personal vehicle to evaluate, insert wire mesh and set traps. Total «holes» sealed: 5 (under a door, between some siding, filling in an uncapped pipe, between the foundation, a vent to the crawlspace) The technician was finished in 35 minutes — including setting traps.
I am told he will be back in a week to clear the traps and reset. This does not happen. I call and ask and am told by a phone answering service that they just answer the phones remotely but they are glad to arrange a follow up appointment for me. I do this and the following day Chris comes back out…
This is where things turn shitty. He complains that the tree is not trimmed (it is but I’ll have her take another foot giving 4 feet of clearance) and he «cant find» one of the large traps that his technician set. In total he collects 3 mice. I explain that we need to see the mice. Christ freaks out, «They need to be sent to a lab and tested!» Ok, we just want to confirm that you caught something, can we just see what you caught? Begrudgingly he shows us.
It’s clear I need to set the followup appointment so I do. He comes out and finds no additional mice, tells me my tree is still not cut back enough and the construction in the basement voids the 90 day warranty but to be sure to call if there is additional problems.
Seriously? You didn’t come 3x the first month and you’re voiding warranty for something not written out in your contract? Why is my experience so vastly different than everyone else? Is it because we have a nice home on acreage? Is that a solid business model?
At the end of the day, including tax, each mouse cost $ 268.00. Holy shit. Per pound that’s some of the finest meat on the market!
Dear Unilocal… this is the first time you failed me but I suspect Chris had a little something to do with it.

I needed a professional rodent inspection done on my house as I was having home inspectors see old rat traps in my attic and heavy handedly saying ‘rodent activity’ on inspection reports.
Chris with Myzzer came by, looked at my attic and was informed enough to see that old rat traps did not equate to a current infestation and provided me with the invoice to show I had given the question a strong response.
Very happy with the service, inspection was only 75 bucks and Chris was full of useful information and advice.

Chris is as good as it gets. Knowledgeable and honest with prices that are fair. Charged me $ 75 when others were asking $ 150 and $ 320 for a site inspection. Chris came assessed the situation, passed on his knowledge, sealed up a few potential entry points and never once tried to sell me an unnecessary contract.
I don’t right many reviews, but I’m so happy to find an honest guy providing great service that I needed to share.

Had them out today for the first time. Gentleman identified one problem, which he fixed. Gave me some useful advice about (non) usage of poisons, and trees near house. Did *not* try to sell me a maintenance plan, which was a huge plus. Said I didn’t need one.
Cost me $ 75, but I thought that was reasonable, and am always gratified when salesmanship takes a back seat to performance. Hopefully this is a one time problem.

Chris and his team are AWESOME. First of all, so embarrassing to type that we had a mouse get in and a rat EAT THROUGH our siding. Two different occasions. Both times Chris came out and did his thing with absolute courtesy and professionalism. He is on time and available. Let’s face it, with mice and rats, you want your go-​to guy to be available!
He was also able to identify all the portholes in and closed them out. The second occasion of the rat getting in was completely my fault. I did not heed his warnings to keep the house perimeter clear of shrubbery.

Chris and his team did an awesome job. Chris, the owner, checked the attic and confirmed that there were no rodent activities but he did find the little buggers under the hot tub (mysterious odor solved!). We scheduled a day for his crew (2 nice guys) to clean up and disinfect the area. They also put up screens to prevent the rats from trying to re-​enter to hot tub «condo»! All in all, Myzzer and team did a great job for and for a very reasonable price.

OK, this is not the kind of business you’re going to be thinking much about… until that unhappy day when you find out you need some help. And when you do, THIS is the place to call. Chris is a total pro, very personable, and puts you at ease right away. No job seems to be too much or too difficult for him. We have used him to get rid of both insects and rodents and he has done a thorough job each time, complete with follow-​up visits to make sure everything is still OK. I would highly recommend this fellow for any kind of pest control you need. He does the job RIGHT and there are no hidden charges or extras to worry about. If I could, I’d give him six stars!

Our technician, Chris, was able to come out same night and did a complete inspection and screened off and openings. Good advice and friendly to work with. After trying to get a pest control company out all afternoon on a Saturday, no one would come out until Monday. Myzzer was at out home 75 minutes after our call!
