At Intimate Pilates, I want your experience to be just that ~ intimate. By that, I mean that I want your experience at our studio to feel personal and tailored to your specific needs, whether you are enrolled in private Pilates sessions or a group class. Regardless of your fitness level or your physical challenges, our instructors can help you find Pilates and yoga exercises that you can do to strengthen your body and mind. Our boutique-​style studio will draw you in, welcome you and leave you feeling rejuvenated from your workout, but also relaxed and mentally at peace.

History

Established in 2009.

In 2009, Nicole and Paul Adams opened Intimate Pilates, a cozy Pilates (pronounced puh-​LAH-​teeze) studio in downtown Kent. As a lifelong advocate of fitness, Nicole, a certified Pilates trainer, wanted to cater to individuals on a personal level, providing one-​on-​one training to address each client’s specific goals and challenges.

Initially, Nicole offered Pilates training along with massage services in a small, two-​room studio on 1st Avenue. As the business grew, however, she and her clients needed a larger space. In the summer of 2012, Nicole opened her studio, two blocks away, at 109 2nd Avenue South in downtown Kent. With an open, modern feel to it, the new studio offers its clients a relaxed atmosphere that is spacious enough for both private sessions and small group classes. Training is also priced affordably to make it accessible to more people.

Nicole Adams, mother of two and lifelong fitness enthusiast, became interested in Pilates in 2000 after the birth of her first child. Her doctor recommended Pilates to help Nicole rehabilitate a herniated cervical disc & Psoriatic arthritis. She began her Pilates training with private sessions at the Pilates Institute of Southern California in Manhattan Beach.

She has her Full-​Level STOTT Pilates ® certification which includes: Mat, Equipment, Postural Analysis, Anatomy, and Special Populations and Injury.

Beyond her certification, Nicole also completed a 15 hour apprenticeship program with Shane Belau of Bodycenter Studios (LMP STOTT Pilates ® Instructor Trainer). Covering topics not found in textbooks, she gained a more in depth understanding of injury-​related conditions such as hip/​knee replacement, lumbar disc injuries, breast cancer rehab and more. She’s also a Certified ZEN*GA™ instructor for both Mat & Equipment.
