Sports on TV, a massaging shampoo, legendary steamed towel treatment, and a great haircut from Guy-Smart stylists who specialize in men’s and boys’ hair care.
I’ve been going to the Houghton Sport Clips off and on for several years. Consistently excellent hair cuts with more style and your personal input is welcome to get the result you want. Highly recommend this location over the others!

My husband loves coming here. The stylists are very friendly and so amazing work! We go out of the way to go to this location just for his haircut. Also the nice guy with the gadged ears was so nice and let me know that women can also get a haircut here. I had no idea. And for only $ 10 i could a shampoo, scalp massage and a facial. Seriously!!! Next time I will be taking advantage of this for sure!

Overall if you need an easy, quick and efficient haircut there is no harm in going here. The place is a sports theme, clear by its name. This means that games play on large TV’s, sports materials are around the place and instead of cabinets they use lockers for storage. I had a great deal with a ValPack coupon for a $ 12 «deluxe haircut». It was a $ 12 dollars well spent, but I would not say worth $ 25. The location had a very scripted like approach to sales, which felt strange. When I told them I had a coupon for the MVP cut, the stylist kind of snapped asking to see the coupon, strange but I would assume they have a lot of fraud in coupons. When I checked out I was given 2 free hair cut coupons for new clients, photo ID required, leading me to believe that others may try to use these themselves giving fake names at check in. It may be something minor but for a «high scale» image they are trying to promote, I am also surprised they do not offer a free beverage(no not beer sadly, this is WA state…) but even a bottled water, coffee or Coca Cola would make sense. Would I return here again for a $ 12 cut when I am pinched for time and this place is near by? Yes. Would I drive out of my way for a $ 12 cut to get here, no. Would I return for a $ 25 cut, nada.

I went into Sports Clips to get a simple cut in regards to the very ends of my hair and the bangs. I have straight hair, and no layers, just bangs straight across and the very ends at the bottom straight across. That’s it. I paid for a shampoo and cut at 21 dollars, and they had a complaint that I took too long. After I paid my bill and tipped the stylist, the manager walked up to me and said, ” I will have to charge you extra, next time you come in and you take too long”. She said you were here for 40 minutes instead of 25 minutes. I didn’t know they had a time limit, with a stop watch? I thought this was a very rude and unprofessional approach from the manager, Alyssa. She is very young in her 30’s or less and I am in my fifties. She has no respect. After my consultation with the stylist of how I wanted my hair cut, and a shampoo, I offered to comb out my own hair, so it wouldn’t take so long, since I had long hair, and I can comb it out, a lot faster. After the stylist cut my hair, I offered to blow it dry, again, so it wouldn’t take too long, and I didn’t want to go outside in the cold of 40 degrees, and rainy weather with wet hair. I didn’t even dry my hair completely. I’ve never in my life heard of such a crazy thing as to push a customer out the door like a number system, instead of having a human concern of getting a nice hair cut, so you will want to go back again. After all, it’s our hair and it’s very personal, and you don’t just allow anyone to do what ever they wanted to your head. I called to inquire about the owner, and the person who answered the phone said the owner’s name is Phil, and she can’t give out any more information than that. She will give him the message in about a week. I thought, if I was the owner I would definitely want to know how my customers are doing, and how they are being treated with their hair cut experience. At least leave an email address so the customers can contact the owner directly to ensure the owner gets all of his/her messages. I was very disappointed in this business. The manager named, Alyssa needs to learn some positive and professional PR skills. There are diplomatic ways to get the point across to customers while treating them with kindness and respect, and not a number system for only money. What an awful disappointment with Alyssa’s demeanor and approach. Can you imagine, if an elderly person or a handicap person went in to get a hair cut, they don’t move so quickly and need gentle care and patience. I believe they don’t want women going in this place, only men in and out, like a number system, just for the sake of greedy money and not the human caring of a respectful hair cut. What a shame!

The staff are a bit grumpy, but quite efficient. Not much chit-chat though. They don’t have an option to just get a haircut — the least you can get is a «triple-play» which is a haircut, steamed towel wrap and a wash which is $ 21. But if you just get a buzz cut with a single size, there’s a $ 5 discount. They are fast and efficient.

Melissa has been my stylist for over a year now, and I couldn’t recommend her more highly. I get compliments on my haircut after almost every visit, which is great since I’ve discovered over the years that my hair is surprisingly challenging to cut correctly(just going from what stylists have told me). Sport Clips’ pricing is great, especially if you get the«season ticket» which is $ 110 for 6 cuts. Plus, all products are 10% off when you buy the season ticket, so you can pretty much knock out all your haircare expenses for half a year at one time if you plan it correctly. It’s also worth noting that the 6 cuts you get with the season ticket are«MVP» cuts, so the haircut includes steam towels and a scalp massage while you sit in cushy massage chair. Seriously, this is the best feeling, and the whole thing costs less than $ 20/cut. I can’t recommend this enough.

I first went to this place because the person who usually cut my hair went to work there. She has since left but I’ve gone back because it’s convenient. If I’d only been back once and had a bad cut I wouldn’t have only given it one star but I’ve been back three times, each time thinking it was the person and not the place so if I got a different stylist it would get better. Three times, three different stylists and no good hair cut, this last one is so bad I’m actually going somewhere else this weekend to have it fixed. Luckily it’s not too short for a skilled stylist to fix. I don’t know what the problem is, I’m not hard to please, but this place is not recruiting the best stylists although they are priced toward the upper end of the«haircut» spectrum, VIP+tip+one bottle of product = $ 50 out the door. Ironic for«Sport Clips» it’s three strikes and you’re out, I won’t go back again.

The best place for a man to get his hair did. The season tickets are an even better deal to an already great deal.

Worst experience ever. I took my son there for a hair cut. The stylist(mid-age woman who looks like in charge there, maybe she is the manager) told us that she found lice eggs on my son’s hairs. She spent a lot of the time looking through my son’s hairs for head lices but she didn’t find any. I felt so embarrassed in front of all the stylists and customers. Althougth I don’t believe her, I don’t know if she was telling the truth or not since I have never seen lice eggs in my life. After that, I took my son to his doctor. His doctor told me that she only saw dandruffs. I will never go there again.
