Specialties

With 25 years of experience with a longarm machine, I can do the simplest of freehand motion to the very extreme of intricate design. My clients have won many awards over the years in all categories including «Best Of Show» at Glendale. What I love the most is creating a design on a quilt that is «not so perfect»…most first time quilters are afraid to bring their quilts to be quilted. I show them the possibilities of what their quilt will create for generations after them. Many have been my client for over 20 years and still counting.

When a quilt is brought to me, i get in depth info about who it is for, their likes, dislikes, colors they like and don’t like, personality and age (yep, that makes a difference)…I have done quilts, bedspreads, comforters, place mats, wall hangings, pot holders, duvets and have repaired quilts that have «seen their day». I have as well been doing binding for the last 18 years. I do a biased edge in most quilts and am quite experienced in it.

History

Established in 2013.

I started out as a longarm quilter 21 years ago when I went to go work for The Quilted Rose. Back then it was only pantographs and stippling that I did. Gradually I moved from following a pattern to doing freehand motion in all the quilts that I now work on. I have literally quilted thousands of quilt tops. Some of the quilts that I have done have won top awards while others have gone to celebrities. With that being said, my most favorite quilt to work on is that of a beginning quilters’ quilt top.

In 2013, I moved forward in creating my own business «Swirls And Curls Longarm Custom Quilting». I was very fortunate to have the majority of my clients follow and allowing me to continue adding value to their prized possessions.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Being an artist is not something I would have considered myself 21 years ago nor did I have the skill or «giftings» to be a longarm quilter. This was something that I had to work at in developing my «talent». Over the years, I have learned basically by doing. It wasn’t until about 15 years ago, that I was presented with the challenge of my career, I had to custom quilt a project using my own imagination. Since that time, I have mastered my skills in longarm quilting to the point where I no longer have to use a pantograph.

Some quilts that I have machine quilted have won top prizes such as «best of show» at Glendale. I have done numerous projects that have gone on to celebrities, NFL and NHL athletes and have even finished a quilt that went to Elizabeth Dole upon her retirement from The American Red Cross.
