T & L Tavern

PART OF THE DIRTBAG RUN REVIEW SERIES:
T & L Tavern is the sort of place your abuelita warned you not to go into. At first this little unassuming bar would-​be-​cantina establishment looks nothing more than your local Mexican-​esque dive, with matching sombreros, peeking cleavage, and a whole slew of hot messes trying to walk upright to the sounds of Ramon Ayala. But visitors unwilling to heed the environmental warning signs of a payday loan locale, Goodwill store, 99 cent store, among others in this little strip mall may get just what they bargained for in this little hole in the wall.
This place has security and for a reason I was unwilling to stay too long to find out. You see the crowd here is very clickish, and this long haired rock and rolla stuck out like a bad disco song at a tardeada. The bar girls were nice enough to flash me a smile and some small talk (being a novelty I suppose), but the male patrons just kept giving me the look (you ain’t right boy– en espanol). The only annoyance was that both the wild and crazy cougar gals at the place and the bar gals (except for the matriarch there — she was very very classy) all tried to get me to buy them drinks.
If they have a pool table, bathrooms, or anything else besides the juke box and the tamborazo crowd is unknown, but if this is your scene, the cerveza is VERY cold and cheap. There is plenty of parking, and my boy Tony ‘Macaroni’ the taco vendor is known to hang at this place on certain nights serving up handmade tortillas to the tune of tacos, quesadillas, and tostadas.
