The food is GREAT!!! Shredded beef moco with fried rice is well seasoned and tastes great. Red velvet and mac pancakes are off the hook. My daughters loved the rainbow french toast, seafood omelet, portugese sausage and red velvet waffle.

This place is hard to find because it doesn’t have a sign. It’s located in the same plaza as Foodland at the brown buildings. In between the snorkel shop and mail room. This is a small, hole in the wall café with limited seating. There is a sign in sheet to your right upon entering. Local grinds with the perfect amount of food. Service is fast and they make great recommendations. I had the smoked salmon omelette with spinach, onions and cheese. It comes with a choice of potatoes, hash browns, or rice. I got crispy hash browns. They don’t skimp on the smoked salmon so every bite was delicious! Coffee: regular is drip and decaf is instant. Cost: Affordable and not the usual outrageous cost from resort restaurants.

Food was not worth the 1hr wait. We came here as a recommendation from family but regret it once the overcooked food arrived. Blah it was gross. The pancakes were good but walk down to Longhis instead. I get the reason for the long lines, its not about the food it was because the prices were cheap but when you are on vacation that not an issue so I wont do that again

Best banana Mac nut pancakes with Mac nut sauce. I’m telling you it’s the best ever! Only seven dollars for heaven. Come early to get right into a table!

Get any of the Moco Loco’s, we tried 4 of them, all onolicious! We also got the pancakes with their special sauce and the French toast, all onolicious! This place is small, seats about 30, so expect a wait, but the wait is well worth it. It’s the best island Moco Loco you’re going to have. The short handed staff was friendly and full of smiles… With juices and coffee, the bill was $ 47. Awesome food, great prices, friendly service makes this little joint a big hit in my loco life! Just keepin’ it onolicious The Real Foodie

The girls that serve here are amazing. Great service great food. First time in Maui and eating here is a must ! They’re known for the vanilla sauce they put on the pancakes. Waffles, etc and also the loco moco. Which we tried both and they were amazing !! And price is so reasonable. Nothing like an expensive hotel breakfast.

The wait is insanely long as there is only ONE cook, one waitress and one bus boy/waiter. We waited for over an hour for a table, another 15 minutes before the could take our order, and then another 20 minutes for the food to come. They kept saying they have to wait for the cook as that one coon can only handle so many phone orders and table orders at once. I am generally very nice and quiet but I was already passed my breaking point, upset and hangry!!! Okay so after we finally got our order of banana pancakes with the homemade vanilla macadamia nut sauce for extra $ 1.50 I quickly shut up and felt like I had eaten the best pancakes ever! I’m not a huge fan of Pancakes but the Unilocalers made me try it! Glad I listened because if I didn’t the long wait would have been even more of a total fail and waste of time. The Hawaiian fried rice was tasty too but honestly fried rice is always a safe bet. The servers are friendly as they know they are hella slow! They need another cook but maybe the pancakes are a secret recipe who knows. The banana pancakes with the extra charge for house made syrup is pretty amazing. Get it! Tip: either phone order to go or go at 7am when they open.

4.5÷5 Stars 808 grindz is probably the best place we had breakfast in Maui. We tried many different breakfast places but they weren’t as good as this establishment. We swore we weren’t going to go to any restaurants twice so we can try as many places as possible, but we had to come here before we left to get the macadamia pancakes with the sauce. The first time we came here was our second day in Hawaii and we got the macadamia pancakes and sauce and the 808 grindz moco dish. The 808 moco was pretty forgettable, the meat was a pretty standard meat patty with brown gravy. I substituted the rice for fried rice but it was still nothing spectacular. The sauce is to die for. If anything get just the pancakes, but get the sauce on the side so you can dip the pancakes into the sauce to control the sweetness level. I had to dock ½ star off because the service was a pretty hit or miss.

Called to see how long the wait was and lady on phone said she didn’t know because she wasn’t at the door. She wasn’t willing to move her behind to find out either. Then hung up. I’ve been to 808 Grindz on the Big Island and it was good, so we were excited to try this one too. Although the other reviews regarding food are positive, I can’t make any comment there, but my brief experience with the service was disappointing.

The Mrs. loves to have brunch when we travel. Its her thing. We had seen several great places to enjoy a nice brunch while touring Maui. When we arrived, here, I was surprised she had selected a small hole in the wall, in a strip mall. But the line of people waiting outside to be seated was intriguing. It took us a long while to be seated. The place is tiny and there isn’t much in the way of atmosphere or ambiance. Service was prompt & courteous. But the food. The food is why I’m giving 808 Grinds the high marks. I had the Grinds Attack. Meaty omelet, Hash browns and the Perfect pancakes. All were spectacular. Especially the pancakes. Pancakes are a must. Mrs. Had the crab cakes Benedict. She loves seafood benedict’s but didn’t love these. However she raved over the pancakes. If you are looking to eat away from the tourist traps or boring old franchises, and prefer fresh, delicious food over posh ambiance, give 808 Grinds a go. It’s a pleasant surprise.

Best brunch in Lahaina and one of the best meals I’ve eaten in Maui. Lines form right when they open and there are only about 10 tables. There is a one hour parking lot to the left of the restaurant where you should park if you can snag a spot. Most of the other lots in the area have 30 mins limits or require permits. The service was wonderful, warm and welcoming. Our server was so nice and speedy event though the place was packed. If you’re ordering french toast, pancakes or waffles, get the macadamia nut sauce on the side. You will regret it if you don’t. The loco moco fried rice was very filling and tasty as well. It was cheap too! Our family of four ate like kings for under $ 50!

Definitely my favorite meal of our week long stay in Maui. I think its safe to say that their macadamia nut pancakes were the best pancakes i’ve ever ordered anywhere. And I’m a crêpe snob so thats saying something. They were delicious. Their loco mocos are all super reasonably priced and our waitress was cool. I think every single person in our 5 person group left full and happy. We came in midweek for breakfast and the wait was less than 20 minutes. I’d eat here every week if i could.

Had high expectations for this place thanks to fellow Unilocalers and yum it delivers! Delicious brunch place and fab option close to Kaanapali resorts without resort markups :) Expect a short line even on weekdays. Knocked down one star because the eggs were overcooked on the bene and the omelette was overflowing with cream cheese which really wanted to overlook but detracted a lot from both dishes :/ Do yourself a favor with the choice of starch and get the potatoes. Seriously best side potatoes I’ve ever had.

My friend and I were vacationing on Maui and just happened to come across this place on Unilocal and boy are we glad we did! This place ended up being our favorite meal during our trip. The restaurant itself is pretty small, when i read the reviews people recommended coming early to avoid the wait. We arrived around 8:30 and only had to wait about 10 minutes. Parking is only for 1hr and make sure you aren’t parked in the permit zones. they are serious about the parking situation and there are actually a couple of people patrolling, marking tires and giving out tickets so be careful. My friend and I ordered a short stack of plain pancakes with the Mac-nilla sauce to share, I got the fried rice loco Moco, and my friend the Benedict trio which came with a crab cake, salmon, and corned beef Benedict. The highlight of the meal was definitely the pancakes, they were so light and fluffy and the sauce was like nothing else I’ve ever tried. Wonderful service, great affordable food, good coffee, would highly recommend!!!

This place was even better than I expected, and my expectations were quite high. Thanks to all my Unilocal brothers and sisters, I knew you had to get there early. It’s a tiny little place, so if you don’t want to wait in line, get there by 7 when they open. We were staying about a half mile away, so we ate here three times and had our choice of tables each time. But every day the tables were all taken and a line had formed by 7:15. Outstanding variety of menu options all at amazingly reasonable prices. So reasonable I ordered tons of extra items just to try them. They have all of the traditional breakfasts, a bunch of daily specials and more versions of loco moco than you can shake a stick at. I loved everything I ordered, but a few things really stood out. First of all, let’s talk about the bacon. I’m notoriously critical about bacon. I have impossibly high standards. I almost couldn’t believe it: for once in my life, I was totally satisfied. I can say without exaggeration this was the best bacon I’ve ever had in a restaurant. This is the kind of bacon that makes it worthwhile to get out of bed in the morning. No matter what else you order, do not miss out on their pancakes. They have a bunch of different types, but the most popular is the macadamia nut with their special coconut vanilla syrup. I knew what they looked like from reading previous reviews. I thought, whoa! those pancakes are drowning in syrup! I considered ordering the syrup on the side. Fortunately my waitress guided me past that potential mistake. The way they are served is just absolutely perfect. The employees are extraordinarily efficient and super nice. The food is delicious and amazingly inexpensive. Do yourself a favor and make it a point to check this place out! Mikey C. says: another side order of bacon, please!

My only regret was that we only visited this place once. There is going to be a wait, for us, it was 30 mins but well worth it. Liked — friendly and attentive service — fried rice loco moco — pork moco — omelettes — pancakes Don’t forget to put your name on the list when you get there.

This hole in the wall café has a line at 11 am on a Thursday! We waited about 12 – 15 minutes, which isn’t too bad. But once you get seated and order, service is very fast and the food is out of this world good! I had the crab latkes and it was so delicious that I polished my plate quickly! You can taste crabmeat in every bite and it pairs well with potatoes. The eggs Benedict is perfect with the delicious hollandaise sauce. This is a must try dish! The banana macadamia pancakes with the special sauce is also a must try! It brings pancakes to a whole new level and the nutty flavor, along with the fluffy pancake is just heaven! The special sauce is a special kind of sweetness and just completes the dish perfectly. I tried some of the 808 Grindz Moco that my husband ordered and it was also filled with teriyaki saucy goodness. The meat patty was tender and eggs sunny side up made right. I wasn’t crazy over it but my husband and one of the diners that eat there often recommended it to us. The small portion of pancakes were $ 6 which is value for such huge, fluffy pieces. Also, the other two dishes were $ 8.08 for real crab and huge portions! That’s Maui value for quantity and quality!

The best hole in the wall spot in Lahaina! It’s technically in the same plaza as Foodlands but one building away and if our friends didn’t mention it, we would have easily missed out! There’s no distinct signage so you have to know where it is to find it. But it’s so worth it. Food was delicious, hearty, had huge portions and was cheap! Service was island-friendly and laid back yet attentive. We tried coming back a second time but they decided to close shop an hour before closing to go surfing *cries* … hope to return some day to eat more of their delicious food!

Very good home cooked taste! I tried the local fried rice and it tasted just like something my mom would make. It was flavorful with quite a few ingredients used. The portion size was a bit small, but I was still satisfied with my overall meal. I was surprised that the menu was pretty extensive from simple breakfast food to full size meals like loco moco and steaks. The restaurant isn’t very big as it is situated right inside a strip mall and can only accommodate eight tables. When we got there at 7 in the morning we were luckily the first ones there, but within the first half an hour the place was already full. You can tell a lot of the locals enjoy eating there as they know the owner and server who worked there. The service was friendly and attentive as the owner explained to us the specials they had on the chalkboard and the waiter always came around to refill our water glass. We were in and out within an hour and was happy with how quickly everything went even though they opened 15 minutes late. Prices here a very reasonable especially compared with other places in Maui and even though you might end up waiting for a table, it is worth it.
