Hands down the best tacos, sushi, farm food, I have had. Ryan and the team did such a fabulous job, they were so loving and attentive.

We ate at Shark Pit Social twice on our stay in Maui. The first time we thought we were going to eat at the food truck but from reading Unilocal reviews on our way there I realized they had moved. The food here is top notch, definitely a foodies place to eat. The fish tacos were great, tasted fresh just as you’d expect on an island. The pork belly taco, WOW, I don’t have many words to say about it but it is hands down the best pork belly taco I’ve ever had. I had to have it again on our 2nd visit. I could eat it everyday! The fried Brussels sprouts at first sounded like a strange dish(has bacon, Parmesan cheese & unagi glaze) but everything on the plate word great together. We didn’t leave a single leaf on the plate Being in Hawaii(and also loving spam) I could not leave with out ordering the Clams N’ Spam. It is served in a bowl with the clams piled high, topped with spam in a «bikini blonde broth»(says the menu). The edge of the plate has several pieces of toast as well as dabs of Sriracha. The clams were great. I found the best way to eat it was to dip the bread in the broth, load up the top with clams & spam and enjoy!!! One of the chefs saw me eating it this way and told me «now that’s the right way to eat it». It really combined all the flavor a together for a super savory dish. If I lived in Maui I’d be regular at Shark Pit Social for sure! An added bonus to the great food is the super friendly staff. The overall vibe of the restaurant is fun, everyone just seems to be enjoying themselves. The first time we ate here we sat at the bar. Talked with the chefs behind the counter about the place, the island(Maui) and since two of them were also from the Los Angeles area we had lots to talk about. Over a great experience, on our second visit we sat at a table but still one of the chefs came from behind the counter to ask how our food came out. Overall two great experience. Thank you Shark Pit.

Amazing food and décor. Can’t say enough! Go! We tried five different dishes to share. All of them were excellent. The ribeye with mushrooms was spectacular. Brussels sprouts were outrageous. Yummy clams and fun sushi rolls. Can’t wait to go back and try everything on the menu. Sharing is the way to go so you can try more. Good prices also. Don’t miss this new addition to our town. You won’t be disappointed and say hi to Chris the owner and chef. Update… We went back this past Saturday. Chris added a new addition — Rion Sushi. Now you can get a variety of fresh, excellent sushi along with those spectacular Shark Pit dishes. We had several sushi rolls and all were really different and tasty. From the SharkPit menu we had chicken and waffles, the pork belly, and those yummy Brussels sprouts. Everything was delicious and fun to share. It’s also byob. Going back next weekend. Yum.

My husband and I decided to give this place a try while visiting. They are new, you can tell. Their food was decent. The fish & spicy shrimp tacos were okay. The brussel sprout appetizer was good. The owner I believe, was very attentive and interactive with patrons. That was a plus. They’re an up & coming spot potentially.

This yummy spot is located next to the Jamba Juice. Not an actual food truck as they moved into a store front. It big enough for larger parties and there’s bar seating to be up close to the sushi chefs! We tried the Brussels sprouts, taco trio(fish, pork belly, surf & turf) and the garlic shrimp salad. All the dishes were delicious especially the tacos. Those were the standouts! The pork belly. My gosh was amazing. The steak and the shrimp were full of flavor as well as the fish. We did order another dish — a chicken dish that wasn’t quite what we had expected and told the server. She was friendly and very accommodating. The owner Chris came by and got our feedback and swapped it out for another dish. You can tell he loves what he does and we can’t wait to see what he has in store for future restaurants. We hope to dine here again on our next trip back or in his CA locations!

Got the taco trio and Filipino pork Filipino pork belly is amazing explosion of tenderness(stewed all day) and delicious and tangy flavor. Serve with white rice but Recommend serve with fried rice and a bit more rice to complete the dish. Tacos were good — 4 star.. Surf and turf was quite good. Fish(snapper) and shrimp taco were good But not mind blowing. Want to try the pork belly wasabi taco next time

I’d never have thought of combining Wasabi and Pork belly but thank God they did. It’s about the only taco I’ve had I’d every put against my hometown favorite. I had a fish taco, that while solid, wasn’t exactly thrilling. But rounding thing out with the well spiced and season surf and turf was great. Really crispy red cabbage on all added great texture and the corn tortillas was crisped to perfection on all three. I get the sense this place is still working out some kinks, so on a busy night(which may not take much given its a pretty cozy joint) there might be a bit of a hold up. That said it was more than worth the wait and they were very friendly/accommodating, keeping us apprised of the back up. Definitely a good pit stop for any traveler.

No high chairs :(besides that this place rocks! Everything was good. Shrimp Cesar salad which even had some of their specialty brussel sprouts and bacon, ahi sliders, garlic fried rice made with sticky rice, tacos(fish, steak, pork belly). It was all so tasty I can’t say I had a favorite. They have a new menu which they just started yesterday and dessert now too. The green tea cheese cake was good but I didn’t really taste the green tea part. We shared all this with a family of four which was a nice way to taste a variety of food

I heard about the good reviews so I took my wife and some friends over there for dinner. I had a stomach virus and only wanted some rice. The owner said I can make you some soup that would make me better The soup was awesome and did make me feel better. Then he give some soup to everybody in the restaurant. My wife and friends raved about their meals.

Best food in Maui, hands down. Chef & owner Chris is an awesome guy serving up honest, innovative, and artful food. The Brussel sprouts are the best we’ve had anywhere and we loved the burgers, surf & turf tacos, and corn on the cob too. This spot is a must try!

I’d definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re in Lahaina. Food and prices are great… plus they serve coke and take credit cards. This place was also hard to find since their only sign was the shark teeth on the front door. They’re in the same parking lot as Foodland but to the right near Jamba Juice.

Hands down one of the best in Maui! Delicious just doesn’t quite capture it… phenomenal! That’s better… funked up fish tacos, ahi sliders, cucumber ahi tartar, kimchi shrimp tacos… creative flavors that leave you wanting more! Went twice this week. If I could take them home to Cali w/me I would! Also they catered to my gluten allergy… all the yum w/o the tummy ache… I’m in love

Summary: Really good food. Nice brick-and-mortar setup while the truck is out of commission until February. Right next to the Jamba Juice. Plenty of parking. Prices are reasonable. Chris, the owner and head chef, is an amazing guy that truly cares about his food and his patrons. He is what made this dinner a 5 star experience. It is a BYOB restaurant and glassware can be borrowed for $ 3 per glass(so if you bring some booze, bring your own glasses or drink from the bottle). Well before arriving on Maui, I had pre-selected a few of the restaurants that my wife and I would be visiting to dine at. The Shark Pit food truck was right at the top of the list with the Lahaina Grill. When we drove to the church where the truck was supposed to be located, it was nowhere to be found. We called the number listed on the Unilocal page and a voice message indicated that we needed to drive to the Jamba Juice, where the brick-and-mortar restaurant is located while the truck is being repaired. We drove to the Jamba Juice and found the restaurant tucked away without much signage. Inside, the restaurant was dimly lit, a bit cold, but well decorated and intimate. It’s not too small or too large, with the chef and sous chef working 20 feet away at most. A server came by and offered us some water while explaining that if we wanted any alcoholic drinks we could walk to the store in the shopping center and buy some to bring into the restaurant, but explaining the price for using glassware if needed. We perused the menu and decided on the following: Corn on the Cob — I am not a fan of corn or sweet corn, but the way that the savory seasoning combined with the sweet corn and the nice firm texture was really REALLY good. I was surprised about how good it was. Brussels Sprouts — These were awesome as well. The sweetness from the Unagi sauce balanced well with the saltiness of the bacon, sprouts, and shaved Parmesan. The texture of these pan cooked Brussels was also excellent. Funked Up Fish Taco and Surf and Turf Taco with Fried Rice — I wished that I could order tacos al a carte because there were three or four that I would have liked to have tried, but sadly that was not an option. However, I was allowed to pick two different tacos when doing a combo, so I went Funked Up Fish to get the experience that everyone was talking about, as well as Surf and Turf to see how well chef Chris did shrimp and steak. The fish taco was indeed quite amazing. It was grilled fish with a sweet cream sauce, fresh red cabbage, and a nice soft tortilla. The flavors and tenderness of the fish really popped and I was very impressed. The Surf & Turf taco did not disappoint either. The steak was perfectly tender and very tasty(no tough bits at all), and the shrimp were firm and plump. The garlic fried rice was just an added bonus to a pair of amazing tacos. Portabello Mushroom Burger — My wife ordered this thinking that the patty would replaced by a large portabello mushroom like we have seen done at other restaurants. However, it was a normal beef burger topped with cooked slices of mushroom. While it was good, it was not what my wife was hoping for, so she was pretty disappointed, but didn’t make a big deal out of it. Then Chris came around to ask us how our meal was. She had eaten about one third of it when she expressed her sadness at the burger not being as expected. Without hesitation, he said«I am going to make something good for you,» and went back to the kitchen. He asked my wife if she liked eggs, to which my wife said that she did, and he proceeded to construct an egg/sandwich/burger that I believe is called: The Vegetarian Jun Burger with Egg — This was a massive meatless burger full of egg and smothered in sweet Korean sauce. Delicious doesn’t begin to describe it. It was so big that we had to take half of it home. While the food isn’t super cheap, it’s not unreasonable for the quality and quantity provided. My wife and I were both very pleasantly surprised by the not only the food, but the experience provided by Chris and his staff. We look forward to visiting again when we have the next opportunity to return to Lahaina. Thank you, Chris!

Yeah Brah this is real good. Chris’ food truck is closed but his signature tacos are pumping out of his new brick & mortar location. Okay the grilled Furukaki dusted corn on the cob Delish will never eat corn with butter again! Had the fish tacos, was so good, small snapper was the fish of the day! Korean steak taco our daughter said was awesome! Spicy shrimp tacos excellent! Oh and coming soon, sushi and deli! Thanks Chris! We’ll be staying tuned from Alaska and coming back next Maui Time!

So it’s official. This is my first bust for a 4.5 star rated restaurant in maui. Considering it took this long I still give my 5 thumbs up for maui food establishments. Shark pit has gotten a lot. of press and if you see their food truck reviews and photo postings you’ll notice numerous photos of food celebs. I give a lot of credit to food shark for marketing but in my opinion the bottom line is that the fish is not fresh and the food is way too salty for my liking. I ordered two of the staple dishes based on previous reviews. 1. Brussel sprouts– deep fried with bacon and infused with kalbi sauce. I have tasted iterations of Brussel sprouts like this at numerous restaurants. The kalbi sauce(soy sauce like addition) gives it a nice fusion twist but it is way too salty. After 30 min I’m still feeling thirsty for eating a few Brussel sprouts. 2. Fish tacos. As much as people raved about this dish, I’m not sure what is to like about it. The snapper was not fresh at all and had a repulsive stench, there was nothing special to be said about the marinade, and there was nothing special to rave about the sauce(e.g. no special mango chutney etc). In my opinion, coconuts fish and ohana café’s fish tacos obliterate the one served here. Why anyone would come here is a mystery to me. While I can’t comment on the rest of the taco types at shark, I’m not so inclined to go back to try them based on my experience with the snapper tacos. I felt what I tried was sorely lacking in all 3 key areas necessary to make a good taco. For better fish tacos I recommend coconuts fish and ohana grill in kihei.

«Hole in the wall?» Check. Reasonable prices? Check. Great service? Check. Incredible food? Check! THISPLACEISAWESOME… you just have to find it first! As noted by many others, this is immediately adjacent to Jamba Juice. Check out my pictures for a view of the building. My much better half and I came down to Lahaina in search of some good food. We happened across the shark pit social on Unilocal. We had been to the original food truck several times and had always been impressed. The restaurant beat our expectations and is, in our opinion, arguably the best food on the island! Our server, Rylen, was great. When we asked what we should start with, she didn’t even hesitate and suggested the Brussel sprouts($ 10)…which is not exactly my style… but I figured we’d give it a try. They’ve made a believer out of me. These are sooooooo good! These bad boys are deep fried and also have Bacon, cheese, and topped with some amazing kalbi sauce. As a guy who doesn’t like Brussel sprouts, these blew me away! For our entrees, I went with the fish tacos(varies, it was $ 15 tonight). My wife went with the surf and turf tacos(varies, it was $ 15 tonight). Both come with a choice of potatoes or rice. I sent with the taters while my wife went with the rice. Potatoes were good, but we’re quite as good as everything else tonight. The rice was awesome(think fried rice) with some meat in it. A delicious surprise! Both were good, but my wife and I both would get the rice next time! Back to the tacos — The fish was excellent. Perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of sauce on top. The surf and turf tacos were supposedly steak and shrimp — but I don’t believe it. I’m pretty sure these are shrimp and unicorn — magical! Even more amazing was the fact that the star of the show might be the tortillas. I know my tortillas and these are LEGIT! While there’s a lot of options of places to eat in Lahaina, you won’t be disappointed with the shark pit. It’s local, it’s fresh, and this place is awesome!

If you’re looking for something special and unique, The Shark Pit restaurant is definitely worth a visit. Since The Shark Pit is new, it’s a little difficult to find or contact, the restaurant is open every night for dinner and it’s located in Lahaina directly next to Jamba Juice(170 Papalaua Street). The food is fresh, locally sourced and so tasty. I had the Benny Burger and Poke Sushi. We also had the steak tacos and fish tacos, everything was spot on. Best of luck Chris, I’ll be back soon!
