History

Established in 1932.

Skylark Shores Resort has been in business for over eighty years. We began as a small collection of cabins right off of Main Street, added a small office and nineteen rooms in the 1950s, and have grown into a sprawling, five-​acre resort with forty rooms, five cottages, and lush grounds that touch the shores of beautiful Clear Lake.

Manager

Audrey Gonzalez became General Manager of Skylark Shores Resort in 2009. She has a long history in the hospitality industry, beginning her career with Marriott Hotels and a long tenure with the Piccadilly Inn Corporation. Audrey is also a proud member of the Lake County Certified Tourism Ambassador* program.

As others have mentioned there are limited options in Lakeport. This is an older property, but it was clean and the room was well maintained given the underlying infrastructure. The headboard was not connected to the bed which was annoying — I put the hotel binder over it to stop it from hitting the wall. As mentioned the linens are cheap and I have hand towels bigger than the bath towels. The view from room 102 was great. The parking lot accommodated my big dually with ease (not all motels in Lakeport would). It was not inexpensive but it was better than the other options I had since we could not book ahead of time.

I cannot say enough about the kindness and love the staff of the Skylark Shores Resort have extended to my family. My family was evacuated due to the Valley Fire. Our church was destroyed in the fire and we feared that our home was going to be lost also. Instead of raising rates they LOWERED them for everyone that came including firemen, national guard and our family. When others were gouging they were doing the opposite. They made every accommodation so we could be available to help others. The property is beautiful and was a welcome reprieve from the destruction we will be going home too. Thank-you…thank-you…thank-you.

How AWESOME is this place? Clean room, Arlene was SUPER sweet and very helpful & Steve is very helpful and handy. you can fish off the boatdocks & as far as the ither Unilocal reviews. .dont believe them… those people must’ve been bitter before they got here., my experience was so awesome that we booked a room for 4th of july AND memorial day next year.. definitely recommend this spot to everyone! !

I checked in at the hotel, and for advertising as a resort, this place was horrible. I would have expected above average accommodations, but the room smelled like stale cigarette smoke and the shower was moldy. My son advised me he would rather sleep in the car than on the dark, dingy and obviously dirty beds. Definitely needs a facelift and some airing out. I didn’t even unpack my bags, just got in the car and left. I ended up staying at the Best Western in Clear Lake. Clean, and in much better shape! I’m sure I won’t get my money back, but I would definitely not recommend this place as a RESORT!

Basically it’s a cheap motel with a great location right on the lake & in walking distance from downtown.

We had to refuse the first room we were offered because of the overwhelming odor of smoke & chemicals. All rooms are marked nonsmoking but I’m a 70’s child and I remember what «smoking» rooms smelled like.
Overall the room was below average, maybe a $ 55-​$ 65 room. Cheap bedding, flat pillows, thin windows, old shower grout, etc. Fortunately I booked with the internet prices & didn’t pay much more. The reality is that there just aren’t many options in Lakeport especially if you’ve got kids and can’t squeeze into a B&B.
The people were very nice and the location was outstanding. I might stay again for the location.

Decent place. Good location, situated right on the lake. My room reeked of cigarettes though. The rooms towards the lake look better than the ones in front, which is where we stayed, which was basically a motel. Overall, 2 stars for my experience.

They can not take reservations at this place! We made reservations thru 2018 for the 4th July holiday through 2018 Call to confirm my 2014 reservation and they tell me my room had been cancelled, but they could put me in room #125. They call me back and tell me different again, despite giving them my credit card number. No one called to cancel any reservations from our end, despite what they have in their system. No confirmation of cancellation, no email from Skylark for cancellation. Even though its a step up from camping, I have no problems with location, cleanliness, great boat slips. etc. The customer service is horrible! I will be reporting them to BBB to try and stop this happening to others.

This is the first time I’ve stayed in this place so theory get the benefit of the doubt. We go it a really great corner room with a view of the lake. Sunrise was amazingly beautiful and the walk along the dock looks great. The interior decoration was not bad but nothing special. HOWEVER… the pipes were so loud and made a terrible noise all morning starting at 5am. The faucet was impossible to turn off. The outside shared patio was filled with very loud guests at 8am which pointed out how then the walls really are. I basically felt lucky that I got the 5 hours of sleep i did. If u are a super heavy sleeper this place is great.

I will provide just a couple of caveats to my review before starting: I stayed during the off-​season (mid April) and on a Sunday night so the room was very affordable and it was not crowded or loud at all in the hotel or the town of Lakeport in general.
My bf and I had a wonderful time and this hotel was everything we wanted. It was less than $ 100 a night, clean, very spacious, in a great location (Lakeport has a fairly small main drag and this is right in it and close to some very good public docks, though their hotel docks are probably also great fishing spots) and our room had an absolutely amazing view of the lake and loved the little patio and bbq pit with every room. I stopped by the hotel before checking in to ask the front staff if they knew of a good beach and they gave me directions to a really nice spot off the beaten path. After checking out I asked for suggestions for breakfast and they are right next door to an awesome breakfast restaurant! The front staff was certainly helpful but I wouldn’t call them super friendly– that is my only (very mild) complaint about this place. I would definitely come back and definitely recommend.

Stayed here for business. The view of the lake was perfect. The room was not very clean, towels had spots, found a hair on my pillow. Lakeport is a small town without many options, the casino might have had better rooms so look into that.

The hotel is ok, but I experienced some problems with its manager. I booked 1 poolside room for 100 $ online on their website and asked if it’s possible to get it on the second floor (I didn’t know which room they have on which floors). They sent me an e-​mail and said that I can upgrade it to lakeside room on the second floor for 50 more bucks. I decided not to do it, so I didn’t answer them about this offer. When I came to get my room, they said that I have lakeside room on the 2nd floor and must pay 150. They didn’t give me any choice and the manager, who I contacted next days, said that it was my decision to upgrade. I didn’t want to argue with them anymore and didn’t want to complain to my bank, but I’m still extremely angry at their behavior. Really, how could they charge me 50% more if I didn’t even agree for that offer?

We stopped in on the spur of the moment after deciding to stay in Lakeport because Ukiah was tooo smokey. Got a second floor lakefront room. Two double beds for $ 110.00. Room was clean but there was no soap or shampoo. Had to call for more; first he brought soap then shampoo. Silly. The weirdest problem is with the ice dispenser. The ice bucket does not fit in except sideways which does not hold ice. You have to take a trash bag and hold it in there so it fills and does not collapse. Again very silly. Coffee cups were dirty.
Nice view on a beautiful lake. Nice to have an outside table.

Maybe I’m snobby this hotel fell below my expectations for sure. The room was in desperate need of an upgrade: peeling tiles in the bathroom, a soggy bed that sank deeply in the middle, and pillows that had seen better days. The heating system was temperamental too — really cold, or really hot. It’s a «Motel» so I wasn’t hoping for high luxury, but it would have been nice to feel moderately comfortable.

A good place to go for a few days on Clear Lake, with kids or to boat. Nice motel – beautiful grounds with lots of places to lounge or picnic, volleyball net ready for you, pingpong, horse shoes, and of course, the very nice pool. The rooms are very clean, large, with big windows, chairs and some with picnic tables. The rooms could use some updating – our bedding but very clean but clearly old. Windows could use a good outside wash. Staff was so nice, and made our stay very good. Nice-​sized small fridge and microwave were great. Great place to go with young kids, because the play areas are safely away from the water, and the pool is fenced and the playground is fun.

This review certainly needs an update! My family returned this year and everything was wonderful! We were all treated very well by the staff and a room was upgraded with no added cost to us. The rooms seem to have been partly renovated and in good shape. The pool was clean. (It was advertised as heated and wasn’t but certainly that’s no problem.) Everything seemed to be in great shape in regards to the grounds and docks as well.
The new management (as I understand that’s the case) has made a huge difference! We will be returning.

The price is right, but very shabby accommodations. Two bedroom cottage for 100 per night. Bedroom doorknob didn’t work which was tough for putting a baby down. Phone didnt work… odd. Overall, not bad for the price.
