Our kids both Love to go to Groove for classes and parties. The staff is fun and friendly. You are never too young for Groove they have fun events for even the youngest children.
A great low pressure low commitment way to give your kids an introduction to making music.

I was in town for 10 days and found out about Groove through an on line search. I took my daughter to a class and they were so warm and friendly and accommodating. My daughter absolutely loved the class and we have been back 4 times just on this visit. The classes are high energy, engaging, and fun for both the kids and adults.
We will most definitely come back when we are back in town and would highly recommend the classes to anyone who is able to take them.

Groove is the warmest, coolest, most innovative, most welcoming place for families of every stripe, especially of young kids, in Larchmont! I’m confused by the reviewer offended by the owner; in a hectic class environment in the middle of Larchmont, that mistake, while unfortunate, hardly merits a «stereotyper/​racist» label the reviewer seems to imply. (It is especially laughable given my knowledge of the owner, who is among the least race conscious people I know anywhere.) Why didn’t the reviewer introduce herself and/​or make her wish for a public apology known? It’s tough for class teachers to navigate all new faces and make everyone feel comfortable, but as a mom in a two-​mom family Groove, where I visit occasionally from Manhattan, is one place in Larchmont where I feel utterly at home and included, with or without my kids!

I live in Larchmont and recently paid for a 45min morning session with Groove for a friend, who was coming to visit me for the day and who happens to be white. My friend has 7 month old twin boys. During the introduction, the owner/​musician, while asking for our names, looked at my friend and said «what’s your name, mommy?» and turned to me and said «nanny, what’s your name?» Since, I am a black woman and my friend and her kids are white, she automatically assumed that I was the nanny of my friend’s kids. There was an uncomfortable silence as I stared at her, after which my friend said «she is not the nanny, she’s my friend.» The owner/​musician proceeded to ask my name but did not feel the need to apologize at the time of the incident, even though everyone was looking at her. She only gave a sub-​standard apology at the end of the session, out of the ear-​shot of everyone else by saying a hesitant apology and making this inappropriate analogy, «I should know better than to call someone a grandmother unless I am sure.»
I thought that the behavior of the owner/​class leader was disrespectful and unprofessional. It is shocking to know that even in this day and age people still adhere to racial stereotypes.
The musical experience was great otherwise, but left a sour taste in my mouth.

As someone who is trying to navigate the new and confusing world of suburban mommyhood, it’s nice to find a place where I can take my son to interact with other children without the gut-​wrenching feeling that I’ve already entered him into the competitive rat-​race of one-​upmanship that you often see in places like Westchester. At Baby Groove, infants listen to music from a live band (endearingly called «Music for Aardvarks»), play with fun toys, and dance (or move as best they can). The teacher in me loves the fact that these exercises would make Howard Gardner salivate, the mom in me loves that I can meet other moms while simultaneously exposing my son to other kids in an extremely kid-​friendly environment.
