Springs Preserve’s 2010 Asian Moon Festival took place on Saturday, September 25th. It was probably one of the hottest fall weekends in Las Vegas, but that didn’t stop all the visitors from coming! First off, their parking lot was completely full by the time we arrived, which was in the afternoon. Thank goodness for parking nearby at Meadows Mall, which was an easy walk across the street. The greatest thing about this event was that it was FREE! Yes, it was free to everyone — which allowed you to visit Springs Preserve and all the exhibits for free. That alone makes this visit definitely worth it! And it was super family-friendly! If you ever wanted to take inventory on strollers in Vegas, this was the place to be! They held performances throughout the day in their outdoor amphitheater, which included drummers, dancers, storytellers, etc. They did try to provide some shaded areas with umbrellas, but it was just really hot that weekend. Moon cakes, along with other ethnic treats, were available for sale at this event, along with various crafts for the young and old. Freebies included drawstring bags, fans, pens, etc. Overall, you can’t help but love a place that opens up their business for the community to celebrate a cultural event and making it super accessible for everyone. I suggest you go there early next year and take advantage of hitting up the galleries and exhibits that usually require an admission charge. Oh yes, and bring beverages to stay hydrated!
