Description

Specialties

Las Vegas Eye Institute is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care in the Las Vegas Valley. Matthew Swanic M.D. was born and raised in Las Vegas and returned here to practice ophthalmology after completing his residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston and his fellowship in Cornea/Refractive surgery at UCLA.

Dr. Swanic can treat a diverse array of eye conditions from minor to vision threatening. On top of his expertise in eye disease he is also well trained in the surgical correction of vision (ie LASIK). He is one of the few eye surgeons in the city who believes so strongly in refractive surgery that he had a corneal specialist perform it his OWN eyes in 2010. Now he looks forward to providing his patients the same incredible feeling of being able to read the clock in the morning without fumbling for a pair of glasses!

We are proud to provide our patients refractive surgery consultations with a doctor with advanced fellowship training in surgical vision correction.

History

Established in 2013.

Dr. Swanic started his medical career with a group practice in the Las Vegas Valley. This practice unfortunately had a business model that was unsustainable in the current healthcare reimbursement climate. This forced it to close in May of 2013. This gave Dr. Swanic the opportunity to start Las Vegas Eye Institute in June of 2013. Our financially stable practice has been able to grow and thrive. We are excited for our future and that of our patients’ eyes!

Business Owner

Matthew Swanic M.D. is a native to the Las Vegas Valley. He graduated with honors from the University of Nevada Las Vegas with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. He then went to the University of Nevada School of Medicine to obtain his medical degree.

Dr. Swanic excelled academically and received numerous awards as a medical student. He graduated at the top of his class and consistently performed at an incredibly high level on national board examinations. His accolades did not go unnoticed and this allowed him to pursue his residency training in ophthalmology at the prestigious Tufts Medical Center in Boston Massachusetts. Knowing that he always wanted to return to Nevada he then returned to the west coast to obtain advanced training in cornea and refractive surgery at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. Jules Stein is world reknowned for elite eye care and consistently ranks as the #1 eye center in the Western United States by the U.S. News and World Report.
