So after all I got a phone call from the shop telling me that they’re willing to work with me and take care of my problem. Car is being picked up now and will arrive their shop within 30 minutes. I will update my review after I get my car fixed and make sure everything goes well and I will delete the bad review for sure

LOVE this auto shop. Jerry is the best. Really friendly, learns your name right away, remembers you when you return, great sense of humor, attitude, etc.
I grew up in a small town in New Hampshire, and there was a small gas station/​garage in town where the owner knew everyone and totally took care of folks. Made you feel like family. Jerry and the guys at AAMCO in Lemon Grove remind me of that small-​town care. They are good people who do not treat you as just another customer number but as a human being. Didn’t know shops like this existed anymore.
We just moved here from San Francisco and are happy to say that we have found our new local auto-​repair shop. We’ll be back. Thank you!

Had an unpleasant experience here but they did what they could to turn it around and make me a happy customer. Left satisfied with outcome.

Update. Nick no longer works there, and the customer service just isn’t as good. I’m sure they still do a fine job, but they don’t give me warm fuzzies anymore

Run do not walk out of this place. I got quotes for a clutch. This place was 25% less — should have known it was too good to be true. The quote was just to get me in there. Ended up being twice as much as I was originally quoted. Like I said — RUN AWAY from this place if you are thinking of going.

I went to 3 places to get quotes for breaks and these guys were right in the middle. Better than that they had wonderful service. Jerry is such a nice guy, go here for quality work at reasonable prices!!!

Update… The B.A.R. Bureau of Automotive Repair found that this AAMCO location was guilty of insurance fraud where they charged my insurance company over $ 800 in additional fees when my car was fully covered under AAMCO’s warranty plan. The AAMCO Fleet Corporation stepped in when they heard of my situation and had me take my car to one of their AAMCO corporate shops located off Morena Blvd in Mission Valley. This AAMCO location performed excellent service and had my car ready in less than one week as opposed to 2 months at the Lemon Grove location. The AAMCO Fleet Corporation gave the final Bill to the Lemon Grove location including my rental car during the whole time my car was out of commission. Thank you Joe from the AAMCO Fleet Corporation and John from the AAMCO Morena Blvd location. You guys are Awesome and you TRULY DESERVE 5 STARS… As for th Alan and Jerry at the Lemon Grove location… SUCKS TO BE YOU RIGHT ABOUT NOW. GOOD LUCK ON KEEPING THAT CHOP SHOP!!!

So took my Saturn for a transmission service to include the filter, gasket, pan cleaning and a fluid flush including torque converter all for 179. Sounds pricey but better than 1500 – 3000 for a new transmission. Highly recommend taking the vehicle there for transmission or any other mechanic work cheap and reasonable. All employees were super nice and courteous. Don’t go anywhere else but there!

Great place! Needed new brakes on my 2010 corolla. I got a free brake inspection. Allan saved me money by telling me it was my front pads that were worn out and the rear brakes needed adjusting, which effected the front brakes. An hour and a half and $ 200 later my brakes work awesome :) thanks guys for all your help! They are friendly and trusting!

I went in to get my transmission checked for free by mentioning rock 105.3 and they tried to charge me $ 40 bucks! They said it was a real thorough check and that it takes two hours with a road test included but all they did was check my tranny fluid and ran some codes and they were done in an hour. They couldn’t even give me an accurate quote, like I was just wasting their time. Little did they know I was prepared to spend $ 1000 bucks on fixing my car but I ended up going somewhere else. What a rip off!

I went in for service (twice) and while the guys are nice enough both times I had to consistently call for updates. On the last (and final) time, they had my car for an entire day and at the close of business, told me their diagnostic computer couldn’t talk to my car so they couldn’t tell me what was wrong with my car. Won’t be going here again.

My maintenance light and check engine light were on. I brought my car in skeptical I would soon be told I needed a pricy service. Nick checked the codes, oil, and engine and I was out in 10 minutes. Nick was so honest, timely, and nice. I would highly recommend this shop.

Greg, Nick and Kevin … all very professional and honest! I thought I had a transmission problem but after they ran the test, they said it was fine. They explained to me what the actual problem was and even showed me pictures of the parts from the book. They ordered the parts, fixed my car and had me on my way that afternoon with a smile. I’m sure they saved me lots of $$ by going there and not the «other’ place I usually go.

Now the only place I will take my car! Always fit me in, remember my name, explain everything, and treat me fairly. Excellent customer service and great work! Thank you Aamco!

IF I COULD GIVE THEM A NEGATIVE ONE STAR, I WOULD. This is by far the one of WORST experiences I’ve had. I recommended that my daughter take her car to a transmission specialist instead of the dealer because they would be able to take care of the problem quickly, the vehicle’s «check transmission light» had come on. I TRULY REGRET doing this. She took the car in and they told her it would be about three or four days which would have been reasonable. Well, three or four days turned into a week, then two weeks. Finally, she had to call and find out what the status was. They told her that it would be ready that afternoon. I took her to pick up her vehicle and we drove off because everything was good. Ten miles down the road and the «check transmission light goes on again. I called them and told them that light had gone on again — Greg said to bring it and they would take care of it right away and have «me on my way.» I took it in and an hour turned into two, then four. They finally told me that it would be another day, that day turned into another week — with me having to go over personally to check on the vehicle because I got tired of the same old response. I had to call, I had to check, I had to a lot of foot work to get my daughter’s car back to her. Greg, attempted to placate me with all sorts of the things, free oil changes, a free year of extended warranty — all BS. I didn’t get any of this when the car was finally ready — all told, THREE WEEKS went by to fix a transmission. The worst thing of all is that I couldn’t even get a straight answer when I asked for the status the vehicle — I got the same old scripted garbage. They may do well when changing oil and windshield fluid — but if this was an indication of how they fix transmissions then I’d suggest you go somewhere else. By the way, her car received a huge scratch to remind us of the experience.

I brought my 08′ Malibu in at about 3:00 PM without an appointment. Greg said they could get me out by 5:00PM, and when I got there they looked very busy so I didn’t think they could. I took a walk to get something to eat and they were done about 15 minutes after I got back. Greg and the staff were very friendly and informative, and my car has never run better. It shifts so much smoother, pulls stronger and doesn’t downshift hard anymore. They did exactly what was needed and didn’t try to sell me anything else. I will recommend these guys to anyone who needs service.

bf took my car in to see what was going. They ran a test and found 2 error codes that came up. The guy said he wasnt the person to work on it and that we needed a specialist from dealer.
Was open and honest and didn’t even charge anything for running the test.

Check engine light was on. I brought the car in to them in the very early morning. They said it would take a few hours for them to check it out. I called in a few hours, and they had not yet looked at it. 5 hours. then 6 hours. Then 7 hours passed. And pretty soon it was literally 4 p.m. when I had to call them again. (They never called me.) They said they found problems and it was going to be $ 1400. I had a feeling there was a problem with the catalytic converter, which they confirmed. I knew the Cat Con could be replaced for $ 600 including labor. So I picked the car up and took it to Ed Hanson’s Muffler. These AAMCO robbers were trying to stick it to me for many unnecessary items. And I figure they use the make-​the-​customer-​wait process as a tactic to make the customer realize that another day without a car would be terrible, so the customer will desperately say, «Yes, just go ahead and fix it.»
$ 600 later at Ed’s place and the car ran perfectly.
