ordered the butter chicken and normally its boneless chicken in a gravy. BUT NOT THIS ONE. it was a lump of chicken that was so overwhelming… the people were nice. nothing else.

UPDATE: my mom insists we go back to this place because they are a nice family.
I’ve had all I can take this week. understandably family owned restaurants close for vacation or holiday season; BUT COME ON… either set up a VM saying you’re closed or put it up on your website, I’ll even settle for a note on the door. ironically their open sign was blinking but doors were locked and it looked closed. This is just rude and bad business. So I’m taking away a star and my mom to a different family owned restaurant who has some etiquette.

I agree with Anoop– this place definitely maintains a low profile but deserves a solid 4.5 stars! I haven’t had the opportunity to stop in and try a lunch buffet yet, but I’ve stopped in twice now to pick up a «lunch box» special for $ 6.99 and have gotten a good feeling for the food and the owners.
While the interior isn’t much to be desired, the owners and staff are beyond friendly! They chat with you, ask you what you’re looking for, stuff your lunch box with extra goodies, give you coupons for future visits– nice, nice guys. That alone is enough to keep me coming back for more. The food? Awesome. It has an extra kick to it that most buffets don’t have. It’s not HOT but it’s not mild, either. Just perfect for a lunch time meal at work.
Oh, and food? There is TONS OF IT. These guys pack your container so full of curry goodness it will explode on your way back to work. The only downside (or maybe it’s an upside if you’re adventurous) is that they take the curry for your lunch box straight off of the buffet line, and since the buffet offerings change daily the curry offerings are never the same for the lunch box. So just don’t get too deadset on having one curry for lunch, because you never know what’s being offered until you get there!
However, one thing is always standard– they always make sure I get everything vegetarian. Or, if you’re a meat-​eater, I’m sure you’ll get meat entrees. You get 2 pieces of roti bread, a ton of rice, 2 curries, and sometimes the owner or staff slip in some extras. My first visit I had dahl makhani, mixed vegetables and an extra pickled mango. My second visit I had eggplant curry, mattar paneer, lentil soup (bonus because these guys heard I liked lentils and so kindly offered it to me free of charge), and an extra appetizer, also free of charge. Everything I’ve had has been super delicious and I will definitely be adding this place in to my lunch rotation.
One huge positive about this place is I’ve never gotten a migraine after eating here which means they are more than likely MSG/​preservative free :)

A small, low profile business, probably lacks in marketing skills, but provides superb home made food. Check out for pulav, tawa roti, poori, or parantha: on order even during lunch buffet. Weekdays are as good. Reasonably priced, nice service.

One of the best Indian restaurants in the suburbs. I went there for lunch buffet. The place is neat and clean and family run.
The food is cooked in small quantities. This way it tastes authentic and home made. They had mutton chop curry that day. It was my favorite. Tandoori chicken was flavored just right with the right amount of moisture. You can get whole wheat indian bread (Parota) instead of nan. This is a much healthier option.
I finished the buffet with a tasty serving of carrot halva! Will definitely visit again!

I ate dinner at Kurry Khazana for the first time this evening and am writing this review only one hour after leaving the restaurant to ensure I remember.
The family that runs this business deserves high praise for their restaurant. I have eaten at many Indian restaurants and at the homes of friends from India. This place serves authentic, quality foods and they put their heart and soul into the food and service.
The reasons they don’t get 5 stars includes the American Pop music from the 1970’s that is piped. I would have preferred traditional Indian music or classical. Also, the paper table covering over the linen, from my perspective, diminishes the potentially upscale setting. Why have table linens if you are going to cover them with paper? Perhaps glass tops over the linen would be a prettier and a more environmentally friendly alternative to keeping the linens clean. Likewise with the stack of dinner-​quality paper napkins in addition to the linen napkin. Perhaps a hot towel service would be better, as is offered in nicer Japanese restaurants.
Hospitality at Kurry Khazana is the best one could expect at this price point. Upon entering, I was greeted warmly and sincerely. I noticed a large table of older people who appeared to be Indian, a good sign the food would be authentic, or at least quite good.
Though I anticipated traditional table service, I requested the menu before being seated as I wanted to check for price and to see if the greeter would be helpful to me with my questions. He was, and helped me to find what I wanted, so I placed my order and took a seat a a table in the very small dining room.
I ordered a non-​vegetarian thali or meal. The menu states it includes, «Appetizer, Rice, Chapati, 2 Vegetable Curries, Sambar, Rasam, Dal, Raita, Pickle, Papad & Desert [sic]»
The papad is a thin, crispy, lite «snack» that has cumin powder, onion, tomato, and celantro. It was wonderfully flavorful with a delightful texture. Though visually and aromatically similar to a sparsely garnished tostada, the delicate, crispy bread product was far more elegant than a tostada could ever be. The two, 8-​inch rounds were a satisfying appetizer. I’d recommend having just one per person, especially if you order the thali.
Though the thali comes with soup (I don’t know which word listed in the menu description means soup), it is served with the rest of the food, not before a main course. I was served a lentil soup and another vegetable soup on my thali tray. The lentil soup was very spicey hot despite my request for mild-​medium (I am a wimp!). Because it was spicier than my comfort, the server brought me a cooling mango yogurt drink, which I had enjoyed previously at other restaurants.
The Basmati rice was cooked to perfection. Tandoori chicken was quite good. The homemade yogurt was fresh, flavorful, and cooling. The pickled lime was strange to me, unlike anything I had ever tasted, but interesting.
Two more meat dishes were served on my thali tray. One was in a deliciously flavorful dark brown sauce/​gravy and quite fatty such that there was little meat to eat from the serving. I have no idea what it was, but I am fairly certain it was not beef, pork, or chicken. The sauce was excellent with a little rice scooped into it.
The other meat dish will be my breakfast in the morning, along with the leftover rice, yogurt, and raita (I think that is the name for the flat, tortilla-​like bread). The thali tray is a hearty meal for one person with leftovers for the next day, or may be shared by two.
Dessert was a sweetened carrot dish that was decadent and also quite interesting.
Kurry Khazana has a little room for improvement, but at this price point, what they offer is a bargain for the significant value the provide. I will return and I highly recommend you eat here!
My complete thali was only $ 14.99, which is the highest price on the menu. Lunch buffet is available Mon — Sat from 11 — 2:30 (if I heard correctly) at a price of $ 9.99 per person. It looks as though the buffet is rather limited compared to American buffets, but based on the dinner I had there tonight, I’m sure the sampling will be well worth the price, and then some.

Indian buffets are great things to explore, and for Kurry Khazana, I could easily split my rating for different groups of people. If you want to eat mild dishes and be left alone during your visit, remove that third star. If you want to try different stuff with a kick and enjoy being catered to, add a fourth star.
Both times I’ve been at KK, located in a strip mall with plenty of other dining options, it was empty upon arrival but half-​filled with adventurous types upon leaving. No, they don’t spend a ton of money on facades or décor, so you need to get past that. This place is mostly substance over style.
I typically look for certain staples in my Indian buffet diet: nan, saag paneer, basmati rice, tandoori chicken, cold mango ice cream. KK’s buffet often lacks the saag but challenges me to try a host of other options. You’ll never be at a loss for good nan; our server (who is likely the manager and maybe the owner) often makes different types of nan and will bring them to your table, wanting to know what you think of them. Compared to other buffets that make standard nan and throw it in one big pile on the buffet, guaranteeing that your piece will be unsatisfactory, KK’s approach is greatly appreciated.
On our last visit, it appeared that the server made something in the kitchen and offered it to patrons, table by table, asking for feedback. While it was good, I can see why some people would not like the heavy-​handed buffet service. Some days, I do not wish to comment on what I’m eating. Other days, it’s quite fun.
Because of the server/​manager/​owner/​guru, Kurry Khazana is unique. You have to be in the right mind-​set to enjoy it, but it’s a neat experience that should be tried at least once. However, it didn’t earn my «go-​to Indian buffet» designation. In Illinois, no place has. Would Aroma in Washington DC please franchise this way? Daya and Jagu, I’m talking to you!
(Note: another Unilocaler complained about KK not re-​filling the buffet at 3:30pm for his group. Good luck finding any restaurant that will! Having any sort of buffet that late in the day is amazing. Why would they make a ton of other food for one group, then have to dispose of it? Have a heart!)

This was my 3^rd or 4^th visit, thought it was decent in the past, however… all food on the buffet was cold when it should have been hot. It’s being kept hot by sternos, not meant for a restaurant. The food looked like it had been there for awhile, and when tasting it that was the case. I was there for about 2 hrs chating with my party and during that time NO new food was put out on the buffet! Anyone who came in was served the food that had been sitting there, cold, including the meat dishes. I told the owner that I was disappointed in the food and that it wasn’t fresh, he said it was made fresh THIS MORNING! It’s 3:30pm!
I like this little place and the people who run it are nice, but they obviously don’t follow food service regulations, and they think I want to pay for food that is several hours old and has been sitting in open air at a barely warm temp. I had brought my friend here after bragging about it and then I was totally embarrassed! So disappointing.

I visit the restaurant regularly and have had decent food. I went to pick up a take out using my Groupon Coupon which was $ 8 for 16. My bill was $ 18.50. The owner and his son tried charging me $ 10.50 claiming $ 8 was paid to Groupon and the balance was to be paid to them. I explained them numerous times that their own ad in Groupon stated I pay $ 8 for $ 16 worth of food. So, I pay anything over $ 16, which is $ 2 and change. I had to call Groupon Customer Support to talk to them to finally make them believe me. I visit that restaurant at least 3 – 4 times a month, if not more. To treat a regular customer this was was not appreciated. Furthermore, no apology!!! They might have lost a customer (me) and the friends/​family I take to that restaurant as well.

Excellent food and prices, went on a wednesday at about 3pm and the fellow that served us was very nice and gave us a sweet mixture to try after the meal and it was so tasty! Definitely going there again soon.

Their buffet is one of the worst I have ever had. Their website said they serve dosa for the weekend buffet but when you get their you will find out that is not the case. They have very limited options for the buffet. Some of their menu items (very few) are good but I would not return.

We enjoyed everything we ordered, great place and a value. Our servers were gracious and we will definitely be back!

Anyway, we went for the lunch buffet. This place doesn’t have a sign on the building, they only have a little paper sign on the window. It’s a bit dingy inside, but we decided to check it out.
Bread. Or whatever you want to call the Indian breads. Roti, paratha, puri, naan. Even the iddly and some red sweet bread dessert (double ka meetha). All the bread was delicious and fresh.
The other buffet options were ok. Nothing spectacular, but nothing bad either. They had lamb biryani, chicken 65, butter chicken, and some other curries.
Basically, this is a 3.5* but 5* for the bread, so that’s the math behind my rating.
The service is also pretty good, they are a small venue so you get the service you expect.

This is a Unilocal gem. I tried it based on the other reviews and was not disappointed. The interior is small, basic but very clean. The weekend lunch buffet had at least 12 dishes, some vegetarian & some with meat. Everything was homemade and delicious. The owner was very proud, friendly and helpful. He brought us 3 kinds of bread as well a various dishes to try. We will be back soon.

Delicious! I enjoyed their lunch buffet far more than the one down the street at Viceroy (which costs just as much). There weren’t as many options, but everything they had was super tasty — tandoori chicken, two kinds of curry, vegetable biryani, dal fry, mutter paneer, onion and potato pakodas, and a few more dishes I can’t remember. I loved the vegetable biryani and mutter paneer.
The service was the best part of the meal, with the guy (who I assumed to be the owner) continually coming over with little dishes of items we missed and suggestions to put this sauce on that, try this with this, and so on. He insisted that we try the desserts, which I think were carrot halwa and qurbani ka meetha. Whatever they were, they were wonderful and I highly recommend saving room to give them a try.
The owner was very helpful in his recommendations and he was obviously proud of everything being freshly made in-​house because he shared numerous details on ingredients and preparation.

I am very glad we tried this place! The samosas were outstanding! The Tandoori chicken and Karahi chicken were very tasty and spicy. The onion dosa is worth trying; it’s very good. I wish they had more on the menu!

Just had their lunch buffet — and while their selection may not be as wide as some other local Indian establishments, it was all very tasty. The gentleman who waited on us was quite friendly and courteous, and the whole place had a nice «mom and pop» vibe to it — really hoping they do well.
Oh, and if you want just one reason to visit, I give you these two words: FRIED NAAN!!!

So glad we tried this! We went for dinner and the food took a while, but it was worth the wait for the fresh delicious food. We were brought out a delicious lassi and the best pappadum ever — which made the wait rather enjoyable.
I look forward to coming for the lunch buffet (no waiting and a chance to sample different offerings).

Tried the buffet. The price and variety were not super BUT this place gets 3 stars because what they did make was absolutely wonderful!
The vindaloo was out of this world and so was the paneer. You aren’t going to get the multiple options like viceroy or india house but I had an ox curry here that was divine!
