Claire’s at the Museum

Love this place for the best drinks. They have a nice view. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Very clean. Had a great time.

McDonald’s at the museum! Pretty location, pretty tableware, but the food’s texture, taste, and appearance are, unfortunately, eerily similar to McDonald’s.
This is not a restaurant. This is a museum with a café (a McCafe).
We had the classic Benedict and the crab Benedict. Imagine if McDonald’s served a crab Benedict — that’s how this meal tasted! I am laughing that I paid «market price» for a McDonald’s meal LOL!
Bland potatoes. Flavorless fruit: watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew. No berries???
Jalapeño margarita was beautifully rimmed with black salt but it was just okay. I may have gotten the bottom of be preprepared barrel.
Go if you like good views and classy settings. Sweet servers too. Don’t go for food!

Not worth the 20 minutes we waited.
We were seated outside in 80 degree weather without an umbrella over us. When we asked to move to the opposite side of the fountain we were VERY CRUDELY told that THAT side didnt open til 10:30! I guess they reserve that for the deeper-​pocketed clientele that can pay for shade with their fru-​fru champagne brunch.
Very dissapointed they weren’t WILLING to accommodate. I don’t think I’ll bother coming back. Can’t deal with BAD attitude. I don’t care if you’re on museum grounds, you are NOT allotted with the privilege to abuse customers by sitting them in the sun.

Everywhere you go, you are willing to overlook certain things depending on your experience there. Yesterday I overlooked finding womens soiled underpants on the floor of the mens restroom and an absent hostess (I’ve seen weirder but found it… telling) because the food was delicious and our server was very sweet.
Now Today, we were really looking forward to another wonderful experience but alas, wasn’t to be. We were escorted outside and sat in the sun. When I informed our server if we could be moved to another table with more shade, she sicced the hostess on us. Just the way she approached was bullish and spoke in a very «take it or leave it» manner. I’m looking at an entire side of empty shaded tables and asked about being sat there. She seemed offended. The sun was getting hotter and very uncomfortable. Today, we chose to «leave it». Too bad because the food is excellent but the hosting really takes the wind out of this place.

Cute out door, ocean view. The prices are normal. They don’t have an unlimited mimosa Sunday special. I ordered the tri tip sandwich. It was ok but bc it was chilly outside the sand which got cold so it didn’t taste too well. The barbecue sauce is a little too much, but if you like barbecue sauce then you’ll enjoy it. If you get out door seating that’s the best spot. Great ocean view.

Celebrated a friend’s birthday here with a great group of ladies. The food was pretty good. I had the croissant breakfast sandwich. Was wishing the applewood smoked bacon we’d seen walking past us several times had been in my sandwich instead of the thin pieces that were. I can say I’ve definitely had better. But!!! The calamari… Hands DOWN the best I’ve ever had! I would drive all the way back out to the LBC just to have it again.
We sat outside. The view was lovely. The water feature was quite interesting. Nothing I’ve seen before.

We discussed this for some time of what we felt the rating was and we settled on a generous 3. The reason was for the 3 was a result of the kind efforts by the staff to explain the shortfalls. While it was certainly appreciated and commendable, it would have all been unnecessary if that effort had been expended during the lunch service.
Ground hog day was upon us. We had the same, perfect table as last time. Ideal view, could not ask for better; regrettably though there never seems to be a waiter assigned. We sat there and watched the people who were seated after us get service and place their orders. At last our waiter showed up and we were off and ‘walking’.
We placed both our drink and food order at the same time. The drinks came out, finally, and in a heart beat after that, out came the meals. That was all after a considerable wait. There might have been time to knock a couple of beverages had we been served right away as the wait seemed interminable. After all that waiting though I had to send back my jalapeño margarita as it was missing the advertised rimming of ‘sea salt and cracked black pepper’. Apologies were made and off went my drink for some repairs.
About 20 minutes later as I’m finishing my meal my replacement drink appeared. Indeed there was some salt and pepper on the rim, but as I told the waiter, if this was Bartender School and the student was being marked on their margarita’s, it would have been a fail for Rimming 101. Effective coating of the salt/​pepper around the rim was about 30−40%. Pretty sad especially asthis was supposed to be the ‘recovery shot’. The taste was below average.
Oh yes, the food. The breakfast burrito was okay. Eggs were tasty but a bit dry as they had been over cooked. The exorbitantly priced side of hash browns was okay at best. The English muffins on the eggs Benedict were very ‘hard’ and we had not seen eggs that small in a long time. The bacon/​ham though was quite tasty. The side of fruit on both plates looked ‘tired’. It tasted okay but it lacked that vibrant look of fresh cut fruit.
The staff were very nice when we mentioned our issues and they offered to make up for it with a free drink on our next visit, and they comp’d the margarita that I never really got. So that was very much appreciated.
Love the view. Staff is nice although service is extremely slow and the food? Well sadly today it was a miss.

This staff is not eager for more business, just a warning to management who may read this review. I tried repeatedly to make a reservation for an out of towner group, (as the site claims they DO take reservations), starting on a Friday for the next morning. I repeatedly met with a voicemail system, even during their open hours. I’m sure the receptionist at the museum was sick of hearing me attempt to contact the restaurant staff.
At one point I did get someone live on a call but was unfortunately cut short. I was never able to get back in touch, despite leaving a message with the receptionist at the museum. In all, I tried to call about 10 times throughout the day, and no one ever returned my call.
I went instead for a delightful breakfast at Boathouse on the Bay, which cheerfully takes reservations and offers great service and delicious food, also with a beautiful view.

The extra stars are for the view.
They are not open most of the week, but you can call to make reservations on Thursday. They only have a few tables reserved for walk-​ins. We had a group of 10 here for a birthday brunch. They initially gave us a corner table, after asking them for a better table we ended up with one with an incredible view of the LBC.
The waiters were very attentive.
They give huge portions, might need to share your dish with someone else! Here’s what we ordered:
Crème brûlée French toast — you HAVE to try it
Side of hashbrowns — they weren’t cooked properly, had to send them back
Eggs Benedict — the meat eaters had to send it back because the eggs weren’t cooked properly, the 2^nd time around it tasted better
Side of fruit
Mimosas
You’ll want to come here for the view and service, I’m not sure about the food though.
Parking is street parking. Make sure to arrive with ample time to spare to look for parking.

My girlfriends & I came here on a Saturday expecting a long line (we met at noon) but we were told there was only a 5-​minute wait and were seated outside where there is a beauuuuu-​tiful view!
For drinks, my friends ordered the:
— Pomegranate Juice: tasted extremely fresh but $ 8 for a glass of juice? Hmm, I think I’ll pass.
— Pomegranate Mojito: I’m a huge fan of mojitos but I actually enjoyed the Pomegranate juice over this.
On to the f — o — o — d!
— Crème Brulee French Toast (⁹⁄₁₀)
This was amazing! My friends & I all had a bite of this and the texture was just so soft & fluffy. It melts in your mouth but wasn’t soggy — so therefore, it was pretty much perfect.
— Shrimp Omelette (7.5÷10)
The sauce on the omelette definitely made this omelette stand out from others, but I felt like there was no «bang!!» in this dish. Overall, it was a safe dish but if I were to go again, I would get the. (look below)
— Salmon Linguine! (⁹⁄₁₀)
2 of my friends ended up getting this because the description make the plate sound so delicious and they were definitely not disappointed. The salmon was huge, the garlic bread accompanying it was crunchy & yummy, & the pasta was paired perfectly with the sauce. A party sitting next to us that had just finished eating also remarked how good the salmon looked & told us that they’d be ordering it the next time. If I were go to back, I’d definitely get this.
Service was a bit slow & we had to wait a good 15 minutes for our server to finally give us the bill, but overall — I would love to come back. It would be a great place for a mother’s day brunch!
FYI, parking is a bit hard to find to find since it’s all street parking, but if there is a will. there is a way!

Finally made the time to visit and it was good. Food was not delivered to the table fresh from the kitchen cause our food was on the warm side not hot.
Other than service was good. Despite the cold it was packed and wait staff was kind.
We will definitely be back. Lots of yummy stuff to try on the menu.

Super cute brunch spot. Came here on Christmas Eve and they were opened until 3 pm or a little past because we and others were still dining.
The view next to the water is nice and outside tables with yellow umbrellas and stringed lights above is super adorable. Totally perfect for those Instagram photos. Ideally we all wanted to sit outside but the unusual biting cold for LA kept us indoors as they didn’t have any heaters outside. But even indoors was very cute. We got a table close by to the big windows. It’s nice sitting inside with a lot of natural sunlight coming in.
I ordered a Bloody Mary which was delicious. If you’d like you can upgrade it to a schooner size, I passed. They also have Bloody Mary with bacon or shrimp. My friends got different types of drinks with champagne mixed with fruit and juices.
They serve breakfast all day and I was so glad they did cause even by 2 pm I hadn’t eaten and really wanted breakfast food. I ordered the eggs Benedict. The eggs were slightly cooked a little longer than I’d liked and I think in a mold cause they were both shaped flat and exactly alike and for some reason I didn’t like that. It was too perfect looking.
The waiter was super nice and attentive. And although we were horrible customers not keeping time and sitting past closing time even though there were others sitting there, they didn’t rush to kick us out. I’m sure I’ll be back another time when it’s warmer to enjoy a meal outdoors.
There’s plenty of parking in the lot next to the museum.

Two words: Bacon Bloody Mary.
You feel especially classy having a nice brunch amongst legitimate art. Parking is not the easiest to find but you should be able to find some across the street if you get there as soon as they open.
The crab eggs Benedict are bomb dot com. Service was great. It’s one of our favorite spots for a Sunday morning. Did I mention the bacon Bloody Mary comes with two strips of bacon in it crisped to perfection?!

Came here on a Sunday morning with no reservation with a group of 4 and literally waited no more than 15 minutes. :)
I ordered the French toast it was exceptionally well. And of course had to get one of their famous Bloody Mary’s with shrimp. Absolutely delicious.
The view and atmosphere is priceless. Definitely recommend.

First time for me here. I love Long Beach, and this place is an amazing place for breakfast and lunch. I love everything, from the view to the food.
It is in a museum, nice entrance, i dont know if there is a private parking lot, we parked on the street. I’m not a fan of their indoor seating but I love the outdoor so so much!!! I mean the yellow umbrellas, the beach view and the extraordinary fountain is spot on!
I order the Blackened Salmon Salad — $ 15 and she told me that this is a great choice, indeed!
My friends ordered egg benedict and egg omelette which was pretty good. Their large size Bloody Mary was good too (according to my friend)
The service was fast and nice.
I have no complains.

The brunch menu was pretty standard but definitely good.
You definitely pay for the amazing setting and view. Nestled on top of the cliff, you get to see out directly to the ocean, and there is tons of shade for a sunny day.
Come early! This place gets packed for brunch and the wait can be a bit long. However you can go to the museum too while waiting.

Yoga on the bluffs at Bixby Park set me in a peaceful state of mind. The hour long stretching session also made me hungry and thirsty, thus I headed down the street to Claire’s for a brunch by the sea.
Claire’s is an adorable establishment. Although the museum was closed on a Friday at noon, the restaurant itself was not too busy and we were able to snab a seat on the patio under the yellow umbrellas! (yay)
The menu itself is simple and the drink menu is tempting. We ended up all ordering large cocktails. I had a blackberry ginger fizz and my dining companions had variations of the mimosa. For food, I had a blackened salmon salad which was quite delicious! A dining companion of mine had the hamburger which looked equally amazing.
The ocean views were unparalleled and I thoroughly enjoyed my brunch experience. It was relaxing and I loved feeling the ocean breeze while I sipped my drank.
Why 4 stars and not 5? The prices of the drinks were $$! Of course I got a large cocktail yes, but it was around $ 18 for a drink. Eep! I could’ve easily downed a few of these. Also, the prices of the drinks were not listed on the menu, which I felt was a bit deceiving but that’s ok it was worth it!
Would def come back (with reservations) for a weekend brunch under the yellow umbrellas!

So I texted my friend, telling her to motivate me to go to the gym because I was being lazy… and what does she do? She tells me to meet her at Claire’s for food and drinks. Bah!
My gps took me the long way around, and I completely bypassed the parking lot. I had to leave my car on the street, but it was fairly easy to find a spot within walking distance.
I had never been here before, and since I arrived first, I wasn’t sure where to go. I found myself wandering around the beautiful courtyard area, and I could totally see it set up for weddings or parties.
The outdoor eating area is cute and romantic. There were both groups and couples dining that night, and it made me want to come back another time. My friend ordered the short rib dinner with a specialty bloody mary, and I felt like being a slob, so I got the appetizer platter and a glass of happy hour wine.
It took the staff forever to bring my friend a side of blue cheese, so she had to start eating her meal without it. My own plate was humongous (enough for at least four people), so I didn’t even get through half of it (though I did my best to try a bit of everything). My girl said her drink tasted «off» and only finished a third of it. Although I tried to tell her to get it remade, she didn’t want to bother the server and powered through as much as she could. My wine was alright.
All in all, it was a nice evening with a few snafus here and there.

My chicken caesar salad here was probably the best I’ve had.
Came here for lunch with my bf and his mom. My bf and his mom ordered the breakfast burrito and I ordered the chicken caesar with the capers on the side. Salad was perfect! Romaine lettuce were green and crisp. The dressing was slightly on the lighter side, but the perfect amount for me (I hate when places drench the salad with a ton of dressing). The croutons were huge, and there was a little (not too much) parmesan cheese. I had a few capers with a couple bites, they were ok and added a bit of saltiness, but glad I got them on the side.
The patio is the best place to sit. There are enough umbrellas that even on a nice sunny day, you’ll be in the shade. The view of the ocean is awesome.
I will definitely be back. Would like to try more of the food and drinks here.

What a great place to come for brunch in Long Beach! It’s located inside a museum. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. I would suggest sitting outdoor because you get a nice breeze along with a nice view of the beach nearby. Long Beach is actually pretty quiet from up on the 2^nd floor, so it’s a great place to just chill, enjoy some food, and a Bloody Mary.
For food, I got the New York Steak and Eggs. What’s great about this dish was that it came topped with Mushroom Gravy and Blue Cheese. The Blue Cheese is definitely what brought out the flavors!
I did not get to try their other brunch items like the omelettes or eggs benedict. I’ve heard from a couple friends that these were not that great… So my 4 star review is based mainly on what I ordered.
The bloody mary with bacon was good. I’ve also tried the one with the shrimp and that was good as well. I do not taste alcohol at all.
Overall, pretty chill place. Ambiance was nice. They have a fountain outside too, so that adds on to the relaxing mood.

Pros: the view. This is probably why most people come here. It’s really nice to enjoy brunch with an ocean view
Cons: the price and most of the food. Food was just ok, nothing I’d really come back for. I ordered the shrimp omelet and it was good, not great. Breakfast potatoes were meh. I also ordered a champagne drink similar to a mimosa but with prosecco, blackberry, and ginger and it was 13 bucks! I mean come on. I could order bottomless mimosas for $ 10 else where.

Brunch+ good service + great view = a perfect sunday!
This is a great place to have brunch on a sunday with family, a significant other, or with group of friends. My boyfriend came here last sunday mainly to go for the museum but we were also hungry so we decided to grab brunch. There was a wait time so we signed in before walking to the museum next door. The hostess was so sweet and gave us a pass for 4 free admissions to the museum. I like the fact that I can just put my name and phone number down and just go for a stroll at the beach or walk around the art gallery next door and when a table opens up they just give me a call.
Besides the great view and service I also really enjoy my meal. I had the crab cakes Benedict with fruits and potato salad. Their food weren’t like amaze-​balls but it was good enough to come back and dine when you are in the area. Overall, I enjoy everything this place had to offer.
