Club Tan Tanning Salon

No need to make an appointment for a spray tan. I called and was told to come in any time. I was so so happy with the results and the price ($ 25 and tip) No orange color, just a beautiful golden tan. I left shades darker than before! Very friendly service too! I will be back!

This is a great tanning bed. I found it on Unilocal and Freddy was very helpful. He answered all my questions and was very accommodating. I will come back whenever I’m in long beach!

Place is a hidden gem, tanning prices are dirt cheap compared to any other salon! Freddy is so friendly and accommodating. He always hooks it up with free lotion when you sign up, on top of having such low prices. I bought 3 months for $ 90! I used to pay that for one month at my old place. Hours are m-​f 9 – 7 and Saturday I believe it’s 11 – 3 but don’t quote me :)

I really like this place and Freddy is awesome. The prices are incomparable to most places, and Freddy is super knowledgeable about anything tanning. The beds and often complimentary body lotion seem to work a lot better than most really expensive salons, and I’ve tried quite a number of those over the years.
$ 25/​month or something like that, my skin is pretty fair, and after the first 3 or 4 times to build a base color I basically only need to stop by once a week to keep the tan.
Spray tans are awesome as well. Also $ 25 and last more than a week even with going in the pool, shaving, and all the other stuff you usually try to avoid.

I came here after reading positive reviews about Freddy’s helpfulness with new tanners, but this was some other young guy. I was thoroughly disappointed.
When I first walked into this place, the ONLY employee was lounging on the couch, watching TV, and didn’t even acknowledge me when I was standing right in front of the counter. He asked me if I had a membership (to which I replied that I had never been there) and he told me he’d let me try out the bed for free (cool!). He then showed me to an outdated looking bed, and laid down in it himself to demonstrate– putting the soles of his shoes on the bed surface where your butt would be. I was very taken aback by his lack of professionalism and concern for sanitation. Then he relayed the idea that I would be tanning without any lotion.
This is only my second time ever tanning, but even I know that you should NEVER tan without a lotion. I asked him if I could buy some, and he grumbled «not my problem if you get burnt» and tossed me a tiny sample cup with tingle lotion.
Helpful tips on the tingle lotion use, rather than advising against it, would have been much more welcome. While I was a little pink right after, I did not burn, and it would have been helpful to know that the lotion accelerates the tan in the areas applied rather than slows it (as you would assume with a regular lotion).

Can I just say, «amazing!» And I love Freddy. He makes women feel comfortable and he’s not creepy lol. He even gives a prolonging tan solution and it generally lasts a total of a week. I use a sugar scrub to get trouble areas to rub off. Added bonus, the tan is super cheap compared to most places in OC/​LA area.

I was really scared to go tanning and Fred talked me through it and explained there was nothing to worry about. He even let me tan for free the first time and gave me a lotion. He said «no pressure, if you like it just come back»
Now that is how you make life long customers.
He is cheaper than most tanning salons around here and always gives free lotion. He has become a great friend of mine and I will never go anywhere else.

Quick service. Cheap rates for one session @ $ 7. The staff member did not ask a lot of questions to help personalize the experience. I had a farmer’s tan and have not been to a tanning salon in 7 years so I did not realize how powerful the tanning bed’s UV lights were. I ended up with burns running down my back. It was a rough couple of days after that. Go at your own risk.

I just moved here from Portland and was looking for a place to tan. Stopped in at Club tan, and was greeted by Freddy, who individualized a tanning plan for me, including how often I should tan, and enhancing my tan and caring for my skin with tanning lotions, of which he gave me PLENTY of free samples! No reason to pay twice as much to tan somewhere else. Club tan is decorated nice inside, clean and spacious rooms. no confusing bed level and price packages, just good, state of the art beds.

I have been wanting to get a jump start on my tan and had heard that Freddy is really nice. I didn’t know what the overall attitude of a tanning place would be like and I really try to stay away from pretentious places. This is NOT a pretentious place and Freddy is not a pretentious person. I’m guessing that the equipment is not state-​of-​the-​art, but I only have one goal and that’s to get an affordable tan close to home. This place is perfect for that AND Freddy gave me multiple samples when I signed up for a month. The first tan is free and he doesn’t give you the hard sell or make you feel like you owe him something-​I didn’t even have to fill anything out my first time. Also, it always feels clean even if it is carpeted.

Just moved from Miami and I am someone who spray tans weekly. I am so happy that I found this salon. Freddie is amazing at his custom spray tans and you can’t not beat a custom spray for 25 bucks! Love it here!

I am sitting in my car as I write this review. I don’t want to forget to leave it. I came here for a one time tan for my legs. Freddie is awesome and my legs are still tingly. He gave me some good advice and even let me tan for free with 2 sample lotions. I gave him money at the end because he really did hook me up. I spent next to nothing for everything he did. Yaaaay!
And lastly, I’m already darker just off that one tan. Places I went to before I was never darker after just one tan.

This is the best deal in town! Freddie (the owner) is super nice and very easygoing. He gives out samples of toned down «tingle» lotion (so that it’s not too tingly at first) which speeds up the tanning process like nothing I’ve ever used before! I’d never used a tingle lotion before joining Club Tan, and I don’t know that I’ll ever use anything else now. My skin has NEVER tanned this fast. Never!!!
I have to say that I was a little freaked out the first time by the redness and the pretty intense sensation that the tingle lotion creates. From what I understand, the experience is different for everyone. For me, I am normally fair-​skinned and my skin is a bit sensitive. It looks like a sunburn, but the redness goes away completely after about an hour.
In a nutshell, the tingle lotion works by increasing blood flow and bringing the melanin closer to the surface of your skin. In doing so, the light has easier access to said melanin which helps the skin to tan more quickly. It works! It really works!
Anyway, I love Club Tan, and I always look forward to seeing Freddie because of his super sweet and friendly attitude. :)

I signed up for a month of unlimited tanning and had a great experience. The prices are unbeatable, I shopped all around long beach for the best prices/​location/​experiences etc.
Freddy gave me free tanning samples and they worked great. I am a fair skinned red head and I did not burn once in the beds. I worked my way up in terms of time and different exposures, and reached the goal I was going for. I never had to wait, it was always a quick in and out process. He provides free goggles and a towel each time.
Recommendation on reading other reviews: If you ever read reviews about people who experienced a rash or skin irritation from lotions of the beds, take it with a grain of salt. Everyone’s skin is different… if you get itchy from being a little sunburn and you scratch the heck out of your skin — you will get skin irritation! Take care of your skin and remain clean and moisturized and you won’t have a problem.

So I just got inspired to start tanning and after sitting in the backyard with very little results I figured there had to be a better way to get this done and I started researching tanning salons in Long Beach. I can’t remember the last time that I was actually in a tanning salon my guess would be the late 80’s or early 90’s and what I remember from that experience was that is very expensive.
After researching club tan I was able to find out that the prices were good and there is a lot of good reviews about the establishment and the owner who’s name is Freddy. I popped on down there and told him that I was a newbie and what I was looking to do and he hooked me up with the discounted monthly package. Hey mixed some of his free sample lotions and explained the basics of what they do and I headed to room one and lotion-​ed myself up and hopped into the tanning bed. I did not lie in one spot because I want to mix it up so I spend half the time on my back and half on my stomach.
My arms and bald head are tan from just being out in the sun and stuff all the time but my unexposed areas (basically the rest of my body) where pretty white. Freddy recommended that I hop in there for 8 minutes vs the full 11 minutes and that should get me a little pink but not burned. I hopped out and was satisfied with my pink looking skin and told Freddy that he nailed it. I told him I wanted to come back the next day and go for another session and he said I should be able to do it but if I wanted to skip it that would be ok as well. I did end up going back in on Saturday for another 8 minutes and then took Sunday off because he is closed Sundays. On Monday I came back and did it again but this time I ramped it up to the full 11 minutes. I took a break on Tuesday and came back in on Wednesday and after my fourth session I noticed that I was no longer pink and I was actually getting a nice tan base coat.
I’m about a week and a half into my four week tanning package and I couldn’t be happier. The prices are great and Freddy is really cool. The beds are clean and he has that place running like a top. If you ask, Freddy will talk your ears off about tanning. He is a self proclaimed chatty person but he is engaged in the conversation so if you need to move on down the road he will pick up on that long before you have to excuse yourself. Most chatty people do not possess this skill and that includes myself LOL! If you just want to come in and tan and get out all you have to do is say hi, sign in and Freddy will show you to a bed. This is kind of close to downtown Long Beach and parking is always a problem in downtown. That is not the case here at Club Tan. There are parking spots out in front of the salon and there is a side street that also has parking. I have not had a problem yet and I have always had 3 places to park which is fabulous.
The days of me laying out in the sun waiting for a tan to happen are over. I pop in here for 11 minutes and it is a 10 minute drive so I can get down there and back in a half hour which is a great use of my time.

I had a great experience with freddy. My sister comes here for all her tanning needs and I finally decided to try him and I was very impressed. No orange color just beautiful golden brown.
He listen to my areas that I wanted him to focus on and gave me some helpful tips to prolong my tan. And ladies and men you can’t beat the price.

This place is super affordable (which is exactly what I was looking for) and Freddy (the owner?) was super nice and friendly. He gave me 4 little things of lotions. I’m not sure if he makes them himself or what.
HOWEVER, he told me to slather on the lotions, so I put 3 on my body. I suppose this was my fault, but it didn’t seem like a ridiculous amount to use. I don’t know if it was the lotion or the tanning bed itself, but I woke up the next morning with a terrible RASH all over my legs. Has anyone else ever experience this here? I’ve never had this happen before.
The beds seem old… maybe I am just spoiled because I am used to going to nice tanning salons. This one is definitely cheap, so you get what you pay for. Just wanted to see if any other customers had gotten a rash after either using the free lotion or going there. Thanks!

I joined club tan back in June, 2013 due to the friendly & informative manger, Freddy, who always treats my sister & I like friends. We love the cool, comfortable layout & how well the rooms are maintained. You can’t beat the deals on packages & lotions! I save so much money & still get more brown here than any other salon, even if I can only make it in once a week. Freddy even mixes his own accelerator, often giving free samples. The cool tingle is my favorite & raises your pigment quickly. I highly recommend this place as it is always great to feel comfortable while getting your brown on for an affordable price.

This guy can talk your ear off talking about tanning! It is definitely one of his favorite past times and he is determined to get you to hop on to the tanning bandwagon. I don’t think he ever went a sentence without sharing how much people love this place and this and that and blah blah blah. I was a bit skeptical hearing all these success stories, especially when he started talking about his infamous spray tans. Hes such a bragger but all in good reason! I wanted to get dark fast and that’s exactly what I got, a VERY natural looking dark tan… it was flawless! I naturally have that kind of yellowy asian white like a vampire type of skin and I came out glowing with a nice, deep island tan, just what I was going for!
I’ve had one other spray tan from another place across town and that one seems like a big joke compared to the spray tan Freddie did, and at a great price. The place is neat and clean and the vibe is really chill and relaxed. He hooked it up with some lotion that kept my tan top notch for a good amount of days and also let me try out one of the tanning beds for free to see if I liked it.
He answered all my questions, little and dumb and went step by step explaining the reasons why he does things the way he does. It was a really quick process. After the initial drying time after the spray he pointed out some smudge marks on my stomach from putting my clothes on and smeared a section next to it on purpose. I almost flipped out but he said he wouldnt have done that if he wasn’t confident the tan would be amazing regardless. I wanted so bad to call his bluff but it turns out he wasn’t bluffing! It was flawless… darn.
