SoCal Rock Revolution ’09. This is what the 5 stars are for. Two rooms, four stages, and amazing music. An Honest Confession, Envera, Black Waltz(not to be confused with the Finnish band), The Perfect Victim, and Entice were the best bands I heard that night. But then again, I like my music with heavy break downs and lots of screaming, and majority of this little list did just that. Walk up the stairs and look left — you’ll see the bar which has it’s own view of the first room which housed stages three and four. Rather than looking left, walk to the right and down the hallway. You’ll pass the entrance to the first room, restrooms on the right, and the second room comes up on the left. Twice the size, this space held stages one and two while offering the only doorway I saw leading to the patio where many, many people were grabbing a smoke. I don’t know if this is on a regular basis, but the restroom has it’s own attendant. I’ve never liked them, and in such a small space, this made things even worse. On the plus side, I think his presence alone kept it from getting over clogged and nasty from discourteous patrons. The only problem I had was with the alcohol stands in the hallway and in room 2. With majority of the place being filled with underagers, I felt this to be a bad influence. Gosh that makes me sound old fashioned. Unless some amazingly huge show like the one I went to happens again, I’d probably never come here — since, you know, the place looks awfully sketchy.

mmm… what can i say about sachi’s beside the taco/hot dog guy in the back! first off, i know a lot of people dislike this place and i can see why, they keep people outside for a long ass time to make it look like it’s crowded inside. I’ve never had to wait nor had to pay cover for this place, however its because we usually get bottle service so we would have a table, but i would not recommend bottle service here. Music was ok, love the 80’s cover band, spazzmatics! they were awesome… only good thing about this place is the cover band and the tacos!

Not my scene at all. But can be fun if your in college or go to CSULB. There was some college greeks dressed up as geeks so that provided a little entertainment. I went there to check out the DJ(Vid Vicious) since he’ll be performing at our upcoming Mardi Gras Party. He has a cool set-up where he is actually mixing in music video’s and creates montage of images with the music he plays. It definitely adds to ambiance and a more interesting visual experience. Now the real reason I went there was to taste the food from the taco stand they have set up in the back exclusively for club patrons. It was the typical street vendor taco stand. Tacos were a buckfity and tasted OK. I think they may have been tastier if they were a buck and I was drunk. I’d rather go to In & Out across the street.

I went on a Saturday and saw the Spazmatics. They are an awesome fake band. Lots of fun. If they weren’t there, Sachi would be getting 1 star. I have to say, I’m not a fan of clubs in general. I don’t like waiting in lines and paying covers, I don’t like bathroom attendants, and I don’t like paying more than $ 5 for well drinks. So I’m biased, but this place was ok, as far as clubs go. They really didn’t enforce the dress code to the T, which was good for me, because I was wearing a hat(so were several other people I saw inside) There was a line, and we waited for a few minutes. The bouncer got all bitchy about letting a group of 8 in. The place wasn’t even that full when we got in. As a former bartender, I can be really picky about the service I get from bartenders, but I try to be tolerant. We asked for a standard cocktail, and he made it wrong, argued with us when we told him it was wrong, and was very reluctant to make a replacement. Also he used call liquors when we didn’t specify. I didn’t go back to him the rest of the night, and I got friendlier service from the other bartenders, but they were just as inconsistant in using well or call, and the size of glassware for cocktails.

My ears are still ringing. Seriously. This place has the loudest music I have EVER heard in a club. The dance floor is sizeable and I liked their DJ /video set up. It made for some amusing moments. Drinks were super cheap. I ordered two mixed drinks and a beer and they gave me change on my $ 20. The go-go dancers were an interesting touch. It added to the LA-ness of the club despite it being in Long Beach. We went on a friday night and there was no cover. The dj annoyed me. He is INLONGBEACH. When he played some Snoop and Dre people went crazy. He would then transition to some techno and 90% of the dance floor would go sit. This happened all night long. Advice: give people what they want to hear. Just do it. There was plenty of parking which was nice.

I will NEVER go back to Sachi’s ever again. The club is attached to/located in the Sea Port Marina Hotel. We arrived early and still had to wait in line while people left the club. I was lucky I pre-partied because that extra buzz prior to entering prepared me for what I was about to see. A small, smelly dance floor filled with a few people dancing to music that was popular in 03. I think the bathroom was located in the lobby of the hotel or building because it was a roped off section where people could walk to. From what I remember the drinks were really strong, so if you go drink before, drink there, and drink after to numb the pain of partying at Sachis. The patio was large and a perfect place to hide away from the creepy men who try to hit on you and grab at you. The funniest part, there is a taco/quesadilla stand close by so I saw people ordering food and eating it on the patio before going back into the club. A food stand in a club? Who does that?! Never again…

5 stars FORMONDAYNIGHT. People, I won’t go near this place on the weekend. Only once, never again. But Monday nights! They say it’s the best place on the West coast for salsa on a Monday(and, apparently, second worldwide only to some club in Italy…), and I believe it. The manager/DJ is friendly and charming, the bartender is a sweetheart, and everybody is just all-around nice, even the bouncers. No creepy men, no groping, lots of fantastic dancers. The dance floor is pretty big and always clean. $ 5 cover includes the beginner lesson, which is quite good. $ 5 more for the intermediate lesson, which is hit-or-miss, but usually decent. Band nights once a month with some of the bigger names in the area(Angel Lebron, Son Mayor, Johnny Polanco, etc.). And there’s always some fun shenanigans going on for various holidays, Salsaween being a highlight.

I was here on a Thursday night for a clubbing event. I got there around 10pm and the lines were long, but not that bad. Since i was in the club that was hosting the event i knew a lot of people there so i found someone in line close to getting in and i got in much quicker. I’d say i got about 5 yards away from the ticket booth and it was still like a 20 minute wait. I don’t know what was going on but i think whoever was putting on the wristbands was taking their time. I already had a pre-sale ticket so i was set. There were 2 lines by the way. One for the under 21 and one for the 21 and over. The 21 and over line went straight to the bar and the 21 and under went straight to the dancing floor on top of the bar. Also there was another line for someones birthday party and they took up most of the bar. When i finally got in there was a lot of people standing around so i had to maneuver my way to the bar. It wasn’t busy in the bar at all and there was a lot of room in there. We got up to the bar and there were only 2 bar tenders and that wasn’t good. I’d say it took about 15 minutes of standing there waiting to get his attention to get a drink. He was get someones drink, then go to the next person. Pretty quick, but he would start skipping people. When i finally got my drink it wasn’t very good. I got a Jack & coke and it wasn’t strong enough. My friend got a AMF and she didn’t like it at all. I tasted it and it was terrible. I was like screw that so i went up to go dance with my friends. I was pretty sober after an hour and i needed another drink so i went back down and got some kamikaze’s which tasted good. The prices were alright, but i wish they tasted better. The music was good and i liked the taco stand for some quick sober food. Security was a minor pain in the ass because they kept asking for ID every time you would want to go down back to the bar. I guess they don’t trust us if we had the wristband and stamp. Or they know we are getting smarter so they are getting smarter too.

I would give this place 3.5 stars because it’s not your typical pretentious L. A Club. This places offers a little bit of everything… Reasons why I had a good time: –They play good music.(Hip-Hop & RnB) –Very diverse crowd.(Not AZN) –Live band(Spazzmatics) –Taco stand located at the outside patio(quench your drunken state of mind) — No real dress code. –DRINKSARE A STEAL The only thing is that i find it a bit tacky. The lighting looks like it’s a cross from IKEA and a Spencers gift store. The guest list here is a mess. You don’t know who works the lines or the who even works here! I guess I enjoy a place a bit nicer with good seating and lighting. All in all good place to go out to have fun!

Okay I get it. The line outside does suck especially as you finally enter you find out that you have to pay a $ 10 cover then only to see that the place isn’t as poppin’ as the wait suggested. But there are a few tricks around this. If your group is a group of girls, you can flirt your way in without wait or cover charge! Our group almost had to pay until I pouted my lips and told the guy I didn’t want to pay, which worked and got our group of 8 in free! Also, if you’re in a mid size group with mix guy-girl ratio, try«walking away» when the line isn’t too long and make sure the owner/line guy sees. They’ll sometimes flag you down and let you right away in instead of losing your business. I know this is BS, but it sometimes works and is definitely worth the try. Usually early in the night 10ish they hold the line to let it form. When you first enter you’ll see the first room, which is the live-performance/rock room. Classic rock. Usually the crowd in here is a lot smaller and deceiving to newly arrived guests. The 2nd back room is the hiphop/mainstream music and gets packed as the night proceeds. Dance area is fairly small but it does its job. Drinks here are fairly inexpensive. I got a double shot of patron for $ 10, mixed drinks for $ 7-$ 8 and on the stronger side. They have an outside patio area where I always find myself at the end of the night… Anyway the crowd is mixed. The guy-girl ratio is about 2 – 1. Good music. Cheap and strong drinks. Stripper Pole. Efficient outside patio. This place deserves 3.5 stars, but since the wait sucks when we have guys I’m going to give it a 3.

OHHELLNO!!! Should have gone to Alex’s Bar! Wanted to go to Alex’s but was meeting people and this was their venue of choice. The hell no starts at the line… so basically before I even got in the door. They kept letting groups in and I waited for at least 15 minutes while the line did not move. First of all… hate places with a line but whatever. Very very close to leaving but my friends were already inside. The killer of it all is that the whole time I was in line my friends INSIDE were texting me and telling me it was ABSOLUTELY dead. So basically they were just making people wait to make it look like it was crowded. Lame! Okay next point… drinks…eeehhh…I guess priced somewhat reasonably…$ 7 for my vodka tonic. Beers… no idea. Next topic, the music and band… pretty decent. The 80’s cover band was okay but like Mr. Miyagi at Alex’s much better. The absolute killer was the crowd! Skanky girls and even skanier guys all up on each other. Not at all a pretty sight! Combine this with a LINE and you get 2 stars… actually should be 1.5 because did I mention they were charging a $ 10 cover? I didn’t pay because as I walked in some girl handed me her card and told me to text her my name and she would add me to her ‘list’. A cover definitely would have pushed me over the edge! Oh wait… I just remembered ANOTHERLINE… to the restroom. 4 stalls, one of them broken and literally a 30 minute wait!!! Guys of course had no wait… but 30 minutes… NOJOKE!!! It was soooo long and ridiculous that at 1 am when I had to go to the bathroom again, I just decided to go home… I’d get to go to the bathroom sooner if I just drove home. That is some serious WTF!!! One star… too many ridiculous lines and nothing else that was good enough to make up for it.

I KNOW! Andrya giving Sachi 4 stars?!! Totally not my steez… BUT you know what is??? Having a friend that bartends here, which equals that stupid cover waved, and getting a VIP table with a nice bottle in the back… Yeah, I suck it up for that… (I’ll just make my friends do the swallowing.)

It’s been long time since I’ve been to a club. We’re talking years. I go to bars. Not clubs. The whole deal with spending $ 200 on a bottle of booze just to get a table just seems… unnecessary. Anyway, I somehow wound up at Sachi last night. The club tries very hard to project exclusivity. I was just happy that someone there knew someone there who got us in for free. The boys bought the bottle, a few rounds of shots and a couple of beers for me too. I still think it’s unnecessary but if they really want to, who am I to argue? Good things about Sachi — Good music. Both the band and DJ were good. The band was an 80’s cover band. Another good thing — I got to dance. I haven’t gotten to dance in a really long time. It was good to shake my ass a little. Bad things about Sachi — The median age of the crowd is something like 23. I’m 30. Also — It’s fucking hot in there. You get that many people in that small of a space and it’s gonna get a little warm. Buy some fans. Also, that $ 200 booth we paid for? It was pretty much behind the stage and it was ripped up. Also — worlds smallest table and they weren’t great about keeping the mixers full. Against my better judgement I’ll probably go back to Sachi. It’s close and at least the eye candy’s good.

My first two experiences were great! My last one was soo disappointing that I haven’t returned since. I don’t even care how«nice» it is now, according to my friends. During my last visit, I was on the guestlist with my 5 girlfriends. When we got to the front of the line, the short sh*t promoter said that the glist was closed. Originally, the glist confirmation stated no «time» deadline. We didn’t do anything different than our first two times. He then explains that they decided to change things last minute because they need more people to arrive much earlier. Thanks for ther warning, douche. So he said cough up $ 5 or you can leave. We got cash from our car and came back… This time it was $ 10. They were changing their damn minds on the spot! It was $ 10 for girls and $ 20 for guys. How effin’ ridiculous! Unorganized and unprofessional promoters on this Friday(5⁄11) night. No wonder they’ll never make it big. Lol.

At the top of my lungs, «SHE’S GOT A SMILETHATITSEEMSTOMEREMINDSMEOFCHILDHOODMEMORIES…» I’ve been here only once and it was for a friend’s Bday who was able to get us hooked up with no cover, a table and a bottle of booze for free so that was a nice way to start it. I can see why some people don’t like the place and there are probably only two reasons I’d go back. Metal Skool and Danger Kitty. It just so happens the night I was there, Danger Kitty was performing. For those of you that don’t know, they are an 80’s Metal cover band, complete with the long hair, cheesy outfits, and groupies. It was like listening to Monster Ballads LIVE. Can’t be beat. Heard some Crue, GNR, Poison, all the classics. This was one of the most fun nights I have had in a while. Of course it does make you feel old since these songs are all like 20 years old or more. Who cares, its fun to scream along to songs you know by heart with 200 other people also doing the same. For a night of bar hopping, this wouldn’t make the cut, but next time either band is in town, I’ll be sure to look it up!

Many large cities present themselves as social«dualities»(There are two clearly defined mid-20’s nightlife populations within one arena). Long Beach is a clear example of such a town. There’s the new-bohemian pseudo music and artist crowd. Most participants are repentant addict-lemmings that fervently frequent only certain pre-approved locales within the more culturally and socio-economically diverse portions of the city. In the other dugout, there’s a stereotypical(yet adorably traditional) college crowd. This population includes the obvious button down fraternity boys and kappa-gamma cleavage ladies. They tend to migrate to the more suburban, borderline bourgeois parts of town. Oddly enough, Sachi(the Seaport Marina), managed to briefly service the former community, and now caters to the latter. What began as weekday karaōke for one crowd mutated in a sense and begat a full-fledged greek orgy. By relentlessly advertising«80’s cover band and punk looking ipod cheating d.j.» evenings to a targeted campus-bound audience, the nightclub has recently created a name for itself with an undeniably different crowd that what it initially attracted. What’s wrong with that? Well, nothing really. Unfortunately, this aforementioned duality within the confines of the LBC procures strict loyalty. If you cater to, then abandon one social chain to adopt another, there may be consequences. Purposefully ignoring your roots can be destructive, yet profitable in this kinda town. Fortunately enough for Sachi, they clearly understand their current target market, and I would assume they do quite well. Can’t we all just get along? This is not a review(or a pipe). Two stars for past lore from a useless bohemian.

Sachi is the worst piece of crap in Long Beach. We went here last night because my neighbors wanted to see the band that was supposed to be playing. When we arrived, there was about 12 people in line. about 40 minutes later, we were still standing in the same spot, rapidly sobering up, while we realized that the friends of the bouncers kept coming in and being let in, and any females that had any size boobs were also let in quickly. «Are you on the list?» The Ryan Seacrest looking bouncer asked. «No, we came to pay to see the band that was supposed to be playing tonight». «Calm down, move back, or you can leave, we don’t need you here». Wow I’m wayyyy to old for this shit. The funny thing is we were probably going to spend a lot more money then most of their regulars on drinks(who also all looked like Ryan Seacrest). Whatever! The bald bouncer was even worse, he yelled at everyone and gave dirty looks, but then would go to some people in the line and be «a really nice guy» by letting them into the next section of the line, which is really just a cage because you are still trapped in a roped off area waiting to be let in. We never did go in, and took our money elsewhere. Not sure how this place is still in business, because their business model is seriously backwards. Good luck, Sachi, You won’t attract any real business like that!

Wanna pay a $ 10-$ 20 cover for a ‘polished turd’ of a place? Wanna get ripped off by drink prices? Wanna get harassed cuz you’re «not within dress code»? Wanna be bombarded by douchebags and listen to crappy 102.7 mixes? You do? Then by ALL means, come here. In fact, I INSIST. No really, stop coming into the only bar I like in LB and starting fights. The DJs, the music, the crowd, and the environment itself were all a disappointment. The DJs were bad, the music was mostly either house in one room and mainstream rap in the other, the people were mostly a mix of «club guys» and bros, and there was little room for dancing. Expect guys to attempt to grind up on you at this club. If you’re like me and do not like guys attempting to hump your legs, opt to go to Que Sera or Mensa Lounge instead. I only went because it was a friend of a friend’s birthday party, but you couldn’t pay me to go back.

One of my friend’s spun here before, but I think it was when it first opened. Anyhow. it kind of sucked. They didnt use the big room… but I guess there weren’t enough people anyhow. So they had the dj playing in the room with a bar in the way of the dance floor so it was pretty small. Sorry friend, but I didn’t think that the music you were playing was all that. The house music scene is ly lacking nowadays. What’s up with all these dj’s downing that funky, soulful, jazzy house, and resorting to harder house? Hard house is so repetitive with no soul and it’s just whack. We need some more funky house. I have since disappeared from the house scene because I can’t find any good parties and I don’t want to pay for that crap. If sachi bar books a great dj I will definatley go. The cool thing about this place though is that theres all these beds there with curtains! So when me and vanessa got bored of the crappy music, we started taking lame pics in the bed. See the pic I put up! haha…
