I can’t express how great these people are! They took such great care of my car. They do not lie or scam for extra money. You can watch them do the work, he explained what he was doing and showed me the broken parts. He showed me how he checks for leaks after replacing my tires. I felt like family and without a doubt I will be returning for any brake, tire or muffler service! Best in Long Beach!

Great guy, highly recommend and does good work. I came here at 6:30 right before closing, called him prior and he was planning on closing since it was almost 7. Still took me in and completed the job exactly how I wanted. Don’t hesitate to come here for exhaust or tire needs.

This place is awesome! Woke up first thing in the morning to get my cat cut and my new welded in, he checked His website machine to make sure it was the right one, and got right to work cutting out the old one. 10 stars!

Amazing place! As a woman I always feel like I’m being played and lied to at these car shops, (because I usually am) or so they think until I open up my mouth but that wasn’t the case here they were so prompt and helpful and honest he showed me everything that was going on he was very well educated and polite !! He offered me a seat on a big comfy couch, and even handed me a cold beverage! I absolutely love this place and would recommend it for any of the offer weed services. It’s hard to come by honest mechanics be it for tires a oil change or anything else and I’m glad I found him even though I sincerely hope we won’t be back (because I don’t want any more problems lol)

I went here to get my catalytic converter checked out after some thieves tried to steal it. Apparently this a highly valued part on CRVs. My car was making an awful racket so I thought that the thieves made off with it; fortunately this was not the case and they were only able to saw off a bolt or two before a neighbor caught them. The mechanic fixed the damage caused by the thieves and welded the whole thing together to make it more difficult to steal. I feel terrible that I can’t safely park my car in front of my house in a pretty good neighborhood, but I feel relieved that Tech was able to fix my car and create a theft deterrent for a very low price.
I’m a customer for life and will be dropping by soon for a rotation. A++!

Just found my new go to muffler shop! Diagnostic is free, and they are very clear and detailed to let you know exactly what is wrong. They also tell you what they will do and give you a quote that was surprisingly cheaper than I thought it would be. The service is great and the outcome was exceptional. I lowered my car so my cat back piping started hit against my axel to create this obnoxious rattling noise. The technician took a look and lifted my car to show me all the issues. Turns out the baffling blew out as well. They showed me all the options I had, and I chose to get a new magnaflow xl exhaust tip put on and the hooks redone. They took out my old exhaust tip and showed me how badly the baffling was blown. In the end, my exhaust no longer rattles, and it is very stable and stiff. The magnaflow xl sounds more aggressive compared to my old beat up dnx. These guys have earned my respect and loyalty.

Found them on Unilocal and can’t be happier. I drove down, they took my car right away and I was out in 30 minutes with no more exhaust rattling. Thanks!

Prices are reasonable and the crew is awesome. The owner really understands how to talk to customers and gives a clear understanding of why we should or shouldn’t need repairs. Unlike other places that will exploit a person’s lack of knowledge in this field, Tech’s Tires and Brakes really takes customer service to another level. Definitely going to be giving this place my business from here on. I highly recommend it.

I would highly recommend this garage, they do everything they can to keep your prices down and to give you a good price for their services. John is super friendly and awesome. I would totally go back here for future repairs and highly recommend it to friends.

We took our honda here its not the same owner anymore the guy was supposed to redo the piping and he finished the exhaust was facing down pipin was kinda hangin now we have to go somewere else paymore to get it fix sucks its not the same owner that used to take pride in his work no bs hidden fees like the new owner

occasions for emergency pipe welding to be done in order to get a bus out to an

I called for a Labor estimate to change two O2 Sensors in my vehicle. I have a 2006 Hyundai Elantra. I was told I was speaking to the owner. I informed him I would be bringing in my own parts and he kept asking me for the price I purchased the parts for. Then after stating that the amount I paid was fair for the parts he stated he needed me to bring the vehicle in so that they could see where the sensors were before he could give me an estimate. I called three other auto garages before him and everyone was able to give me an estimate over the phone. I won’t be going to this garage anytime soon!

The customer service here is beyond spectacular. They don’t hussle you. They get you what you need, great prices, great service and you’re in and out in no time. No appointment needed but always helps. I went through Unilocal trying to come a good tire place, after a few bad experiences and I found my tire and quick fix heaven. If you’re in the area and need new tires etc. come stop by this place first. They’re the BEST. Sheesh I love this place. Glad I finally found a place that loves me like I love them lol

Came here because of the excellent Unilocal reviews. Heard a sound I thought was my brakes, and drove around with someone to point out the noise. They took all four tired off and told me everything looked great, charged me $ 20 for the diagnosis, which is reasonable. Well, the noise came right back so I took it to another place. Needed new front pads and rotors and the rear were low. They were friendly and everything, but that’s a big thing to miss

First of all, understand the brakes, brake pads, rotors resurfacing and rotors game, before you commit to any work from anywhere. You’ll learn quick that most shops charge you for parts, and expected time on the rack, regardless of the actual time. Hence, price ranges for a pair of brakes, front or back in the LBC is in the $ 180 to $ 250 price point depending on make of vehicle (along with type of brake: drum or disc, etc.) Be advised that time on the rack and when you get it back usually dictates the price. Having said that, you’ll see the more «reputable» shops with better accomodations: bathroom, cleanliness, safety, and comfortability.
Consider this before you enter Tech’s Garage. Tech is a real mechanic. Knowledgeable, People Oriented, with mastery of his craft. Realize that to get his sound advice and expertise you’ll have to endure the reality of his location. Old School garage bars surrounding a two bay service area in an open environment. The elements of the street will follow you, including a possible panhandler, the smells of the alley, and the bustle in front of the shop in the middle of the hood. But don’t let that sway you.
Once you tell Tech you car issue, he goes through a complete brake inspection. He will charge you $ 10 for it. I advise you to take it and allow him to take you on a spin in your ride. A simple cruise around the block and he’ll review his service fees. He will listen to any squeak from your worn pads, and feel for steering shake from a worn rotor. When he returns, he’ll tell his mechanic associate, David, to inspect the pad life of your pads in the bay on the racks.
Depending on your make and model, he’ll either have the part or he’ll have it delivered. Depending on the time of day and how busy it is, this wait can take up to an hour and a half. Which only means you may be sitting on the couches in the garage-​turned office.
Once the part is in their hands, you get ringside seats in the installation and labor, which will include an elaborate information exchange in the fine art of properly seating your brake pads, or resurfacing your rotors, if required.
You may also have to endure the traffic flow and chatter of other customers, like in any other environment, but there is no quiet waiting room.
When it was all finally completed, Tech assessed my vehicle only required pads, with no recommendation for rotor resurfacing. He also showed me the difference between the last mechanic’s bad work and the quality of his shop.
All in all, he saved me $ 150, and only charged for the parts and labor from 20 minutes of work.

If you’re wanting something a little more comfortable or standard, Midas would be my first and foremost recommendation, especially if your a female, in your work clothes, or don’t want to be experience a full mechanics day in the life while you wait.
Long Beach’s Best Kept Secret. I’m actually afraid to post this, for fear of burning my favorite mechanic. But Tech is underrated, and continues to enjoy his career after 18 years in business.

Best brake shop in the LB. It is so hard to find good people and they definitely took care of me and my car. I just has squeaking noises and other places were quoting me $ 200+ to get m brakes done and here they were very honest and very informational throughout the whole process, not to mention good pricing for the excellent service and labor. I highly recommend this place :)
