Christian King at Industry Dtla

My hair was a mess, I had only gotten horrible cuts the last 5 or so years despite making every effort to go to highly rated stylists. It was very damaged, style-​less and washed out. Christian listened to my concerns and my vision for my hair and I couldn’t be happier with the results.
He was kind enough to stay late to do my roots even though my appointment was just for a cut (I got lucky with timing/​schedule so no promises that he’d be able to do the same for you!) He corrected all the problems I listed, he’s incredibly talented and patient. He took his time and really wanted me to be happy. He made suggestions and made sure we were on the same page before he did anything.
My biggest problem with my former stylists was that they would hear me out but would then do what they wanted to my hair. That was not the case with Christian, no one has ever so perfectly executed my requests. I can’t praise him enough. It’s worth the money, he’s truly great at what he does. Don’t hesitate to check it out, I’m sure you’ll be just as pleased as I am!
Side note: it’s a beautiful salon. Very clean, well designed and well maintained.

Christian is the only stylist that has ever understood my hair. He has corrected one of my worst colors and turned it into my best after only a few months. He’s also transformed a horrible cut into my best ever as well… I’ve paid more than double his price at other salons only to wish I still lived in LA so he could fix it. His services are priceless. Christian if you’re ever in SF please call me! If not I may have to make bi-​annual LA trips just for my hair.

My hair needed major surgery… We’re talking MAJOR. So it was a massive relief to meet Christian. He cut, coloured, and Brazillian blew me out whilst being on time, friendly and super professional. His salon falls under the «elegantly wasted» category with its high ceilings, industrial colour palette and delightful attention to detail. The whole experience — including price — was perfect for this middle-​aged British hipster twat. In short, he was just what the doctor ordered. I cannot recommend Christian and Industry DTLA highly enough. Go there.

Christian King is professional, chill, easy-​going, knows what he is soon and will try his best to achieve what you want for your hair.
He got all the essential qualities as a great stylist, especially in LA, where there is full of pretentiously upscale hair salons that are super overpriced but couldn’t do their jobs right.
As an Asian guy in LA (those were the days), I did have some struggle finding a decent stylist who charges a fair price and does the job right. I think overall I’m most satisfied with Christian King even though the location wasn’t exactly desirable (tbh I’m not a big fan of downtown LA where traffic can get lousy and parking costs), but you really get the service you pay for here and this guy really has good taste (and I don’t say that easily).
In particular, sometimes I’m out of ideas on how to go about a new hair style and need his suggestion — and he won’t disappoint me.
I just have to say I miss this guy and wish there is someone like him in New York City.

I have waited for a few months before I wrote this review. I visited Christian in July 2014 to get my first Brazilian blowout done. As any girl I was I bit nervous since it was my first time and didn’t know what to expect since my hair are very thin blond and naturally curly.
To my pleasant surprise I discovered my decision to the messy hair problem! I finally resumed that feeling of how nice it is to wake up in the morning and have your hair almost done and ready to go!
Christian took very good care of my hair and acted very professionally. I could trust him because I just knew that he knows what’s he was doing! I left completely satisfied and the effect stayed for three months!!! He truly deserves more than five stars and I would recommend him for Brazilian blowout to my friends !
P. s. It is sad that I live in Houston now and can’t go visit him that easily but once I’m there for a visit I’ll definitely stop by to get his PRO Brazilian blowout!!!

I have been to many different hair cut places from Fantastic Sams to trendy $ 75 hair cut places in Brea, but Christian King is by far the best place to go. He is the only guy who is able to cut my longish male hair to my exact liking. He never disappoints and pays attention to detail. If you ask him to «only cut the tips», he WILL ONLY CUT THE TIPS where as other places will cut off 3 inches. I will never go anywhere else ever again. Plus his prices are reasonable compared to most. A+

To David B — I have been going to Industry DTLA for the last 6 months and I have never met a more friendly and helpful staff! The young women at the front desk was very helpful, she came right up to me and answered all of my questions! I have never been asked to pay for my appts upfront!

I love coming to Christian King. I moved to DTLA in August and was having trouble finding a place to go. I Unilocaled, found this place and decided to give it a try.
I called when I had a very rare day off after calling 3 other salons that were booked. I was unexpectedly given an appointment with Stefanie right at that moment-​I had been expecting another rejection. I was excited.
Christian King Industry is awesome. You walk in, get offered a beverage-​including beer or wine, and sip while you wait. Stefanie came up, introduced herself and we hit it off right away. After explaining what I wanted, she executed it perfectly and was great to chat with in the meantime. I’ve since been back, with equally amazing experiences. Compared to prices throughout LA, the pricing for a cut and color was entirely reasonable-​almost as reasonable as being back home, which is definitely saying something for LA.
If you’re not sure where to go, this is a great, chill place to check out. I highly recommend it.

Have to write an update about Christian King. I found him on Unilocal years ago when I first moved to Downtown LA. His cutting, color and Brazilian Blowouts are impeccable! His new shop is gorgeous, and he’s added a retail store with the cutest clothes and accessories. I like that the shop is down to earth, not snooty and you actually leave there with AMAZING hair!!! I still get stopped every time I am out by people wanting to know who does my hair. I wouldn’t go to anyone but Christian!

I’ve been wanting to get a Brazilian Blowout for months now but never could bring myself to get rid of my wavy hair. Hated the frizz, but I loved the waves. I have a lot of hair but it is very fine so my biggest fear was that it would seem like I had very little hair if it was straight.
Au contraire!
My hair still had volume and I’m completely in love with. I waited a while to review to see if the blowout would last long. It’s been two months and my hair is starting to get a bit wavy in the back but a low-​heat once over with my straightener fixes that. It’s not frizzy though which is the best part because my hair used to look like a lion’s mane.
Christian is a godsend! Not only did I have an incredible first Brazilian Blowout experience, but he is the nicest stylist I’ve ever had. Great conversation and I was comfortable which is key. I didn’t feel pressured to get a haircut or any other services. Christian’s salon is beautiful and I loved the ambiance. I am definitely going back just because of the customer service.

Coming to Los Angeles from Beijing, I remember American hair salons as razor happy on men and choppy on women, no skill at all.
Sophomore year I researched weeks on Unilocal for a hair salon that would not be a mess up, and I ended up choosing Christian King for his reviews that said he was «personal, listens to what you what, chill, skilled, advices your hair for the best interest of your hair and not for sales»
this was when he was still at another salon. I went with my boyfriend at that time and we loved his personality and skill. He even gave me the Unilocal deal without me knowing about it.
I decided that he will be my permanent stylist.
I am genuinely happy for him that a few months later (the second time i visited him) that he now has his own place that is so chic and holds so much potential.
You will have the best time getting your hair done with Christian because you can completely trust him and not worry about your hair coming out wrong or anything unexpected, plus great conversation
The last time i went, he fixed up my messed up hair that was done wrong over the summer with a Brazilian blowout, a dye, and a cut to fix the ridiculous cut, color, and sickening condition of my hair.
All that done within my time frame.
Even the hair dye was excellently done with no dye on my scalp, forehead, etc
All services are entirely worth the price

You know how sometimes fancy saloon places can be off putting. Which is what one would expect just walking into the place. But the whole environment and experience was very earthy and chill… just like the styleist. Its nice to feel comfortable n relaxed, getting your hair done.
Its the best haircut ever, i feel like a million bucks and i had asked him to gimme a Jessica Biel haircut, i can totally see that lol. Now ill have good hair days for the months to come. Christian is very knowledgable about hair. I feel the cut where every piece of hair comtributes to compliment a bigger picture, my face. He also operates his business with genuine good intentions. I appreciate that on so many levels. Thanks!!!

Came in for a Brazilian blow out ended up with a cut and color and a BBo for a very reasonable price.
Christian never pushed anything on me. took his time in explaining my hair to me and how i can take better care of it. without selling me 10 products… just by giving me tips on how to manage it.
Was very patient and took his time in a way I have never experienced before at a hair dresser.
As far as the BB goes I think I may have had unreasonable expectations.
I thought that may hair would be amazingly soft after.
I have curly hair on the bit of the coarser side.
It’s a bit more manageable and softer now but definitely not «hair ad» shiny …
Would still go back for cuts and color etc.
If you need a hairdresser i’d go there!

Up until I was 25 years old, my hair was Black as Night. Never wanted to do anything different. That was up until my boyfriend of many years broke my heart and I felt it was time for something New.
I was referred by my sister, who goes through Hair Transformations depending on the season, to Christian King.
I was scared going into it, but after having met Christian for a few minutes, I was at ease and came out with the Best Transformation ever!!! I never thought I could pull off the lighter hair look, but obviously with the right Man on the Job it was utterly Perfect… Let’s just say, the old boyfriend came back!
My «Yelp» people, everything you have read about Christian is True. He is amazing. Make sure to book your appointment. He is strong in Communication. Ask all the questions you need, he is extremely knowledgeable. Talk away, he is a great listener.

Okay… it’s been quite awhile since I wrote a Unilocal review. My husband has taken over the restaurant review part. =) But… I felt it is necessary to come back to Unilocal and write a review for Christian. Unilocal is a community and I felt like it is my duty to share the love with everyone and reward the great little businesses out there.
I’ve been thinking about trying out the Brazilian Blowout that my gf has been raving about, so I found Christian on Unilocal and decided to go in and give it a try. What I loved about him was when I contacted him, he actually advice me to purchase the Unilocal deal so I can save an extra 20 bucks. I thought that was very genuine and very considerate. For those of you who are considering booking Christian, he is by appointment only, but feel free to contact him via Texts, he will get back to you right away. =)
Christian is personable, down to earth and very humble. Not only he walked me through the whole BB (Brazilian Blowout) process, he also answered all of my questions and taught me a couple tips on how to take care of my hair so the Blowout will last longer. He listened to me and he is such a pleasure to be around. We shared stories about our lives and I seriously felt like he was a good friend that I haven’t’ seen for the longest time. =)
As for the Brazilian Blowout. The whole process only took less than 2 hours. I know some people who had experience the horrific strong chemical smell during the BB process in other salons, it didn’t happen here. I didn’t smell a thing. Christian was so detailed and professional about every little steps during the process. He wanted to make sure that I was comfortable and happy. And hey, his station is clean, flawless and very chic. I had such a great time getting my 1^st Brazilian Blowout and I know I will continue to go back to him and to support him along the way. It is so nice to meet a hair stylist who is so humble and works so hard! Christian is awesome!
