Worst place ever! Gave me diarrhea immediately after eating. Management is also shitty, they charged me the wrong price at the front and demanded I pay the correct price!

This review is based off of LUNCHONLY. Still haven’t had breakfast here yet. This place absolutely sucks if you are expecting an A+ dining experience. If you’re not and you know that you’re going to a low priced buffet then it is A-OK. But I have experienced better. The food selection is ok but the layout of the stations causes people to bump into each other when trying to get their food. Some of the food is also either too salty or too bland. The meatloaf was ok, the fried chicken was fried chicken, The pot roast was pretty good though. I would stay away from the spaghetti though. Just doesn’t hold up. The cornbread was phenomenal though. The ice cream station is a death trap. There is so much spilled soft serve and crap in front of it that I don’t think they can clean it up anymore. The kids loved this place though as they are kids. I’ll keep coming back for them but if it were for me, I’d only come here if I’m shopping in the mall only.

One of the worst buffet experiences I’ve had. Cooks and wait staff screaming across the dining floor in Spanish. For the most part, food was ok at best. The«general manager» was walking around with a thermometer checking the temps on various foods. Never did I see him change the probe cover or even wipe the probe with a cloth before sticking it into other dishes. When I asked him if «fresh» fried chicken was coming out he said, when that is gone, we put new. The chicken sounded hollow that it was so over done(like an hour ago).

Did you ever walk out of a restaurant and think: «boy, I was just ripped off,» The food was a mishmash of low quality food from fried okra, but no other southern dish. There was a make-your-own-taco that I didn’t touch. The selection wasn’t big. I couldn’t figure out what they soups were since they weren’t labeled. The ambience: loud, 50% of customers were morbidly obese, and about 5 kids to each adult. Never will I return. They trick you though. They make you pay before you see the food you’ll be eating.

This was good but I probably would eat else where next time. the food was tasty the service was nice waiters who cleaned up the tables were very nice. prices fair but the place was very dirty so I wasn’t liking that at all but i could have just happened to show up at an off day or off time. as I said good food though. if i lived in the area I would eat there again but to stop and eat when I show up in the area is a definite no.

We came one night because we really were craving a buffet. We had been once before a few years back and were not all that impressed so it’s two years later we decided to go back. We came on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed. waited in line for about a half hour. everything was fairly decent. Obviously most of it is heated up frozen food. this much a mostly expected. Things were fresh I think because it was busy. We decided at that time we were glad to have come back. So with that, there was a groupon going and we jumped on it. I wish I hadn’t. Cause it was terrible tonight! So much of the meat was dried out and chewy. And the whole restraint was disgusting! It left me wondering what the kitchen looked like. I will not be buying another groupon and I’m ok if i don’t go back for another couple years. Unfortunately it’s one of the only buffets in the area other Chinese buffet.

I’m always down for buffets, and don’t ever expect it to be amazing, but this place sinks to depths I didn’t even think were possible. The only plus to this diarrhea factory was that some of the staff genuinely cared and were friendly.

I wish I could give this place zero stars. After a night out drinking, my friends and I decided to go eat at Old Country Buffet. We didn’t have high expectations, but usually there’s a line out the door so we didn’t think it would be too bad… it was AWFUL! All the food was of the lowest quality possible, cooked terribly, and tasteless. The mac and cheese was soupy, as if they just threw some cheese into the pasta water. Who messes up mac and cheese?! The french toast was soggy and the hash browns taste like rubber bands. The ham was filled with gristle and the vegetables were all overcooked and soggy. I got a made-to-order omelet and I watched the guy making it reach into the buckets of veggies, put them into the pan, pull his phone out and use it, then went back to cooking my omelet. Health violation right there. Phones are so dirty! He also didn’t cook it long enough and when he served it to me, raw egg ran out and filled my plate. The restaurant itself was filthy. There was a thick coating of dust on the window sill next to our booth, which looked like it hadn’t been wiped down in months. The bathroom was DISGUSTING. The toilet paper was the texture of tissue paper and the sink handle came off in the hand. I’ve seen cleaner bathrooms in a bar, at 1 am, on a Saturday night! Do not go here or you’re body will be paying for it. We all felt terrible and my husband spent 30 minutes in the bathroom immediately after.

The best part of my meal… LEAVING! This place was disgusting! From the styrofoam scrambled eggs to the over cooked pancakes and everything in between. There wasn’t ONE piece of food that touched my lips that I could even remotely say was«good» . They offer coupons to eat here for free. I’d have to say no thank you. The staff are friendly and the environment seemed clean, but I was so distracted by how terrible the food was I could have just been holding out for something positive from this mess.

I asked if they could make me up a plate for my dying wife. they told me they do not have any take out! I WILLNEVEREVERGIVEANYOFTHESEPEOPLEANYBUSINESSASLONGAS I LIVE! Whew boy. I went here for a lunch buffet, and usually the places I go are pretty well kept up. This was a disappointing exception. Upon getting our plates, we found that a lot of the food wasn’t labeled and what was labeled wasn’t correct. A tub labeled«Meat Sauce» was just plain marinara. We got a «waitress» who’s job is to clean the plates and cups that are finished, since there’s a strict no re-using plates policy. Not once did she take the dishes away. When we left, there must’ve been 8 plates and 7 cups on the table. The food is what you’d expect from a buffet joint, albeit a bit on the low end. The pizza dough wasn’t cooked all the way, the chicken was over cooked, the only item I had that I didn’t need to look at twice were the deserts. Overall, a very forgettable restaurant. When we left, nobody was at the front desk with phone ringing and people lining up. On the way home, my stomach told me the food wasn’t a smart move.

Was looking for an inexpensive lunch option on a Sunday. Didn’t realize they don’t have the cheaper prices on the weekends. Opted to save my money and go home and make a sandwich. +10.79 still in my pocket…

«Old Country Buffet? More like BUTTfet am I right? Right?! RIGHT???» Alright, it’s not as bad as that headline puts it out to be but if I had a time machine, I would dial it in so I can go back and punch myself in the face for every time I thought it would be a fantastic idea to grab dinner at OCB. This review is only talking about the dinner, I haven’t stopped by for lunch but I hear that is a more pleasurable experience. First off, let’s talk about price. They charge around $ 10.79 for adults, and I would say it would be worth it if I didn’t leave feeling jipped and wishing I ate elsewhere. My university’s cafeteria charged $ 7.95 for a buffet to non-students and it had food better than this place(and trust me, my university’s cafeteria is as bad as you can get in terms of food). The lunch special price seems more reasonable though. Now, onto the literal bread and butter of OCB, the buffet. The variety is not awesome, but it’s not completely bad. The quality of the food, however, has been hit or miss(mostly miss…) every time I’ve visited. You got your mac and cheese, meatloaf, fried seafood, chicken, fried errthing, etc. You got your salad. It’s honestly what you would imagine when you think buffet. I’m just not satisfied eating it though! They also offer steak and honey baked ham. Stay away from the steak though, it’s not as good as the giant sign outside that lied to me put it to be, and you get it only in one setting(That setting depends on how pissed the chef is I guess). It’s always crowded around dinner time, like clockwork, by diverse groups. I guess that’s a plus if you’re into people watching. I’ve noticed it attracts a lot of what people would call«white trash» but do I really want to use that term to describe someone I don’t know? Probs not. THISISNOT A DATELOCATIONBYTHEWAY, IFYOUTAKESOMEONEON A DATEHERE, YOUSHOULDFEELBADANDTHEYSHOULDFEELBAD. Overall, I can only stomach giving Old Country Buffet a 2 out of 5 stars. «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» and cheaper. It can get the job done… sometimes, I guess.

I decided to stop at Old Country Buffet in Medford for a mid-afternoon meal since I felt the need to post an update. I haven’t been to an Old Country Buffet in a couple years. I arrived here around 3PM for LUNCH when the place was not packed(no line out the door) and before the price goes up(DINNER) after 3:30PM. The place was still busy on a Saturday afternoon. I was promptly seated after I paid at the register. Keep the receipt/slip face up on the table while dining here and flip over when finished. The layout of the place is on the cramped side, which hasn’t changed since I last visited this particular location in 2007. Lunch is served Mon-Sat until 3:30PM when the price is $ 7.29(adults)/$ 6.79(seniors). The Dinner price(Mon-Sat 3:30PM-close/Sun 11AM-close) is $ 10.79(adults)/$ 10.29(seniors). Kids prices depending on age(up to $ 5.99). Beverages are not included and extra charge, except for ice water(red cup).(prices in March 2012). ICEE is now offered at the beverage station. Breakfast is also served on the weekend. The variety of food on the buffet was good including the salad & fruit bars, hot stations, self serve beverages, and dessert station plus soft serve ice cream and frozen yogurt. Selections of hot foods on the buffet during my visit included a taco bar, Mexican rice, Spanish rice, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, carrots, corn dogs, pizza, meatloaf, fried chicken, baked fish, fried fish, fried shrimp, fries, onion rings, pasta alfredo, spaghetti & meat sauce, veg lo mein, veg stir fry, red skin potatoes, corned beef & cabbage, hot rolls, and 3 hot soups. For dinner, a carving station(roast beef and/or ham) is offered. I made several trips to the buffet to feed my hunger until I was full. The food was pretty decent for the most part, nothing spectacular though. The spaghetti & meat sauce, broccoli salad, seafood pasta salad, and apple crisp are still my favorites! The food here is similar to the food I’ve had at Golden Corral. My table was cleared of used dishes every two trips to the buffet. Overall, OCB is still a great value and very affordable, especially for large families and seniors. I enjoyed a very filling meal for under $ 10, a great bang for the buck!

I’d still like to know what was going through my mind when I suggested we go to OCB for a Saturday morning breakfast. It likely hearkened back to wonderful memories of my childhood that involved unlimited chocolate milk and ice cream on Sunday’s after church. I’m not here to completely bash the place, our experience was exactly that, two stars. And the manager along with the omelette station guy went above and beyond to assist our needs which I will go into later… so I’m happy and could possibly return at one point. The biggest issue I had is that everything just looks, UNHEALTHY. I was literally turned off by the overly greasy, glistening, plastic looking bacon, the 50 country fried steaks sitting in a bin at 9AM and a taco bar for breakfast, ugh. So what did we decide to do? We raided the fresh fruit station. Granted, there wasn’t a huge selection but my partner in crime picked a half a grapefruit and I choose canned peaches and fresh strawberries. Kudos to the manager, when asked if they had whipped cream for the strawberries, he kindly obliged by bringing out a bowl from the kitchen. My guess is they don’t keep cans of it near the food for fear that it could be stolen but who knows. I was able to pick out the best looking strawberries and didn’t end up with any of those scary GMO looking monstrosities. Round 2: Silly me, I did end up trying the bacon because I was formulating a review in my head and wanted to report on it. Just as I suspected, it was rubbery and tough at the same time with little flavor. The faux scotch egg was completely overcooked and I could not finish it. The biscuit was hard and had to be smothered in sausage gravy to be softened and palpable again. The waffles, however, were a decent consistency and had a handful of toppings to choose from. I ended up going with the strawberry compote which I was pleased with as well. This was probably the tastiest item I tried all day. Ah, if only I had easier access to more whipped cream to top it with. My final trip, I ended up going for the omelette station. The chef was very pleasant and was talking to some ladies about how he ended up in Boston after living up and down the west coast for most of his life. He also accommodated me by letting me choose ANY item on the food tables that I wanted to add. What I did was, headed for the salad bar and picked out some fresh looking peas, carrots and mushrooms and then added a piece of chopped up kielbasa. I did this because the peppers and onions he was offering up at his station didn’t look all that fresh. If I wasn’t allowed to do this I likely would have avoided him altogether. For beverages which costs a «bait and switch» of an extra $ 2 which I was displeased about… I had hot tea from a bag provided(don’t remember the brand), an undrinkable cappuccino that seemed low on mix from one of those push-button machines and of course my favorite… unlimited chocolate milk! I avoided the slushie machine which would be dangerous if I was 8 years old again. Charging EXTRA for drinks really rubbed me the wrong way. I could have just said I wasn’t going to add them and picked up some for my table, anyway… which I’m sure some people do. If you’re on a tight budget or have a very large family to feed that doesn’t care about the quality of food, but the quantity… at least none of it gave me food poisoning. And for that, it doesn’t end up in the one star waste bin.
