La Quinta Inn & Suites Phoenix Mesa West

My girlfriend and I stay here all the time when we come down to Arizona. Everytime we come here the staff is always friendly and attentive everytime we walk in. I was just curious of how the reviews go about this place compared to what we always experience whenever we go and again just a couple trolls writing bad reviews and bitching and moaning about mindless things, you’re not staying in a 5 star hotel but they are friendly and attentive every time to us so it’s probably you that perceived them to be that way, the rooms are always clean and that’s enough said. Keep up the great work and we’ll see you guys next time we’re in town. Also we always appreciate the lady during the continental breakfast that makes her announcements, kudos guys.

We came here and stayed for a week. The rooms were just like any hotel. Just the basic. We had 2 rooms and each room had 4 people in it. Everyday they gave us 3 bath towels (because that was their procedure) Don’t know how that works with 4 people. We asked if we can have extra towels put in our room daily and everyday we continued to keep asking for towels because they never put them in. When our kids went swimming they had to ask for 5 swim towels for them one day because they didn’t have anymore in the basket. The front desk gave them a huge stack of towels about 10 towels so they can put the extras in the basket for them. I’m sorry but that is not my family’s job to do. They are on vacation. I do have to say Tammy who takes care of the breakfast in the morning is awesome. She was very friendly and helpful. My kids are cereal eaters and the first day there was only raisin brand, Cheerios, and corn flakes. I asked if she had any other cereal and she went to the back and got my kids Froot Loops. Everyday we walked in she would see us and if she didn’t have the Froot Loops out that day she would come up to me and ask me how many bowls I wanted of Froot Loops. The only problem we had with breakfast was when Tammy had a day off. They had a worker in there that was horrible. Breakfast is supposed to be served til 10 and I got there at 8:45 am on that day and everything was empty. Luckily they had some cereal so we sat down and ate cereal. But the entire time I watched as people came in to try and eat and I can hear them asking the lady if she was going to refill the food and she said ya but never did. I sat and watched as for about an hour people were complaining to family members that there was nothing. Finally my mom came down to eat and complained to a manager that she still had 15 minutes to eat and there is nothing. The manager went to the back where the worker lady was and all of a sudden the lady walks out of the door with her purse and walks out of the hotel. (I don’t know if she got fired or just sent home but something happened). Then the manager and another helper filled up the entire food area and gave everyone who was left an extra 30 – 45 minutes to eat. They did fix the problem right away which I liked how they took care of the problem. All in all it was a good stay with a few minor issues.

Very disappointed in the direction La Quinta Inn seems to be going. I have used them frequently over the years as they are pet friendly. However, after paying $ 132.00 for 2 people (not including taxes) and 2 double beds at this Mesa location (and that was with a Triple AAA discount) and finding out there was NO fridge, NO microwave, and this was the clincher — the tub is a new kind that is so shallow you cannot completely submerge yourself underwater in it! WTF? I booked a staycation so I could specifically soak my aching bones after a very physical project. I couldn’t believe the tub they are trying to pass off as a normal bath tub. You can only half submerge yourself in it (so basically your lower half can be warm and the upper half is exposed to the cold air). Oh, and there is some kind of weird sound reverberating through the walls every 5 minutes or so, which we finally figured out are toilets flushing. This is the last time I will be staying at a La Quinta as I don’t want to have to call each time to verify they have a normal tub. Sheeesh!

worst experience ever. Walked in and asked for a room, the guy up at the front desk didn’t even look at me until I waited patiently and coughed «ah-​um» and then said there was no more rooms when I asked if they accepted dogs. I then went on
and found a room and booked online, it was 2pm and I walked back in to the front lobby to get the room that I had booked; there was a lady and that same man still there not addressing me nor acknowledging my presence. The lady did look up after 5 minutes of waiting and told me «I can’t do multiple things at once» and continued to look back down. The guy greeted me and I mentioned I just booked a room online; then said that the rooms were not going to be cleaned until 2 hours after check in time. He was very disrespectful, rude, and abrupt with me saying they do not have enough staff to clean the rooms; he said I would have to wait until 2 hours after the agreed check in time of 3pm. After discussing this with my mother, we decided to cancel our stay at this location and go some place else.
In my opinion, these customer service receptionists are hurting your business and not an asset nor a positive influence on La Quinta’s welcoming image. I am telling all my friends.

Notes:
The price to accommodations is definitely favoring the guest. This is even better than the other LaQuinta I stayed at and I don’t think I paid but a few bucks more!!!
Ver clean room and a good size. Good morning breakfast was by far better than the first LaQuinta in Tempe. Biscuits and gravy, what more could you want!
Down side was noisy hallways, not good sound protection, but not much could be done with that.
I do wish the all vending machines good debit cards as I found myself with more hunger than cash, but too lazy to leave lol I would also like to see vending machines with better food items instead of just junk.
Again, people were very friendly here. I’ll book here again!

Pet — friendly for the LA Quinta means ALL dogs not just purse pups! Thank you La Quinta for saving our trip. We had reserved a room at the Extended Stay in Mesa only to be told that they have a 40 lb limit at both hotels. We were able to use the Instant Hold feature on
and called the hotel to confirm that larger dogs (we have two big Labs) would be acceptable. Not only are large dogs accepted, there is no extra charge! That $ 50 savings went to a nice dinner at Texas Roadhouse. Pets with their families are put on the 4^th floor and the closest ice machine is on the 3^rd floor but that was not a major issue. I like the idea of having a specific floor for pets. I wish they would designate an area to dog walk and maybe have bags available for owners. We carry 4 gallon trash bags with us (biodegradable and big enough for Labra-​doo-​doo). The room was spacious and very clean and I love the built in corner cabinet for the fridge, micro, and coffee maker. The A/​C works very well! I can tell from previous reviews that this hotel has needed some renovation. I would say they have done a great job because the only thing that looked old or seedy was the elevator floor. The staff is friendly and we didn’t have any trouble getting our questions answered. I have a few pics that I will post later (they are on my phone).

We have stayed at this La Quinta several times in the last month. We book it because they take our 90 lb chocolate lab with out additional fees. There are many good things about this location. Also a few things that need improvement. Good things first.
Quiet location — this is down the street from what used to be a thriving shopping mall that has since declined. There are 3 or 4 hotels in this area and despite that there is very little traffic and it is very quiet there all night. There is redevelopment going on with new office buildings being built but none of that disturbed us in any way.
This is a more modern La Quinta with nice sized rooms on 4 floors. The beds are very comfy and the rooms have always been clean.
The lobby and breakfast room is well maintained and the staff is very helpful and efficient although not overly friendly.
There is a nice pool and sitting area that is well cared for and includes handicap access.
Plenty of parking and also a large area for dog walking in the area due to all the other hotels and buildings.
Wifi speed is reasonable, there is also a lobby computer if you need it for airline check in, etc.
Pricing runs under $ 100/​night before tax which is a reasonable price for the Phoenix area for a 2 star chain hotel.
There is a good brew pub a few blocks away (Boulders).
Areas for improvement:
The elevator really needs some TLC. It is pretty shop worn and has a funny smell (probably due to many pets using it). My dog cowers and does not want to get into it.
The rooms on the 1^st floor seem to be in better maintenance then those on upper floors. One thing to note — if you book a double queen it will not be on the 1^st floor as they only have king rooms there.
The breakfast is the typical La Quinta breakfast (waffles, eggs, yogurt, juice, breads, muffins, cereal, fruit) which is fine for me. But the coffee is barely drinkable — single service Nescafe instant. The coffee in the room is better.
My rating is based on the value for the money with a few simple improvements it could go to a 4 star easily.

This is really a case of you get what you pay for. The rate I paid was just above economy hotel level and that’s exactly what I got. The bed was comfortable. The A/​C worked well. The shower was good. The HD TV was small, but excellent. The wifi was fast and reliable. What almost killed it for me was the level of maintenance. This hotel is just beat inside; the shower had discolored caulking and towels were clean but just this side of white. If you’re used to a level of detail of a true midscale hotel (say, The Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express or Fairfield Inn) this place is going to disappoint. If you’re used to economy hotels (say, Motel 6), you’ll feel like you’ve hit the jackpot. I’m used to a more spotless, slightly more upscale hotel and I wasn’t thrilled. I was on here on business and was perfectly satisfied for my purposes, but I probably wouldn’t stay here again.

For a La Quinta it’s really not all that bad. You get what you pay for right? Though I did book the room through priceline so I’m not sure how much standard price is. They got pretty good amenities like a heated pool and jacuzzi we used on Christmas and a gym so it was what I needed. I was also able to bring my two fur babies without having to put down a deposit fee and such and they seem really lenient with animals.
The only reason why I am giving this place a 3 instead of 4 is due to the lack of urgency. We called for some towels to be brought up to our room and it took well over 30 minutes and we end up having to call front desk to check on the status of the towels and the gentleman told us he had no clue where everyone is and for us to pick it up downstairs. I felt like that was a bit unprofessional, but really, I can’t expect to get service as if I was staying in a Westin.
So, I do recommend people to stay here. I’d stay here again if I get the same deals, but probably wouldn’t if I have to pay for standard rates if I have other better options for about the same price.

There wasn’t anything clean in this hotel. The front lobby is as good as it gets. The elevator was the first indication of it being untaken care of. It only got worse from there. I was very disappointed in the cleanliness of the room. I usually love La Quinta but this one seeds some serious TLC.

La Quinta Inn West Grove Mesa, Arizona, was a very nice pleasant surprise. At the front desk, the clerk, Collin, was wonderful during check in. Customer service at it’s best. When you put your Hotel card key in the slot of your hotel room and you open the door for the first time, immediately you will notice the cleanliness and the comfort of the well apportioned the room. Immaculate, Housekeeping at it’s best. Housekeepers were all smiles and friendly. Parking was good, fills up during the weekend, but still has available parking. Breakfast was good, wish it had a little bit more to offer, but it still was satisfying. Within a few miles on Country Club rd. near Baseline rd. there is a WalMart and a Costco, the Fiesta Shopping Mall is about 3 blocks away from the hotel, the Highway 60 is about a half a mile away, with easy access to Scottsdale and Chandler, Country Club road north is an easy access to Fountain Hills and Payson and to the Fort McDowell Casino. This Hotel is conveniently located to everywhere in the East Phoenix area. Checkout was easy. This hotel was excellent would absolutely stay here again. I Highly recommend La Quinta Inn West Grove Mesa Arizona.

Last time I was in Mesa I stayed at a Best Western and didn’t have the best experience. I figured I’d try a new hotel based upon reviews. So I booked this hotel thru Verizon using my Verizon Reward points. I stayed 3 nights and it was very quiet and peaceful. There’s no loud air conditioner to have to deal with. There’s 7 room levels and I was on an upper one with such a beautiful view of the mountains and scenery! The rooms are very clean and well kept by the staff. The front desk is very knowledgeable of the surrounding area and pleasent to deal with. There’s restaurants and other hotels in the vicinity within walking distance. It’s located across the street from the Mesa police department fiesta district so there’s a peace of mind regarding safety. It is near Superstition FWY 60. It appears that the majority of the rooms are non smoking and they do allow small pets. while speaking with front desk I found I was eligible for La Quinta Returns program regardless that I booked thru a 3^rd party (Verizon uses priceline). But La Quinta will discontinue doing this after 2014 is over. So I’m glad I can earn reward points on this stay and be a member (free program, no fee). I was also informed that DDR rooms have refrigerators at an additional expense. When you walk in the room there are 3 other doors in a row, do not let this confuse you. This is something I was not aware of as well and that’s why I’m giving a ⁴⁄₅ star rating.
Oh and the free continental breakfest it’s basic eggs, coffee, juice, water, muffins, fresh fruit, bread, waffles, cereal. Nothing too fancy.

Again I had to stay here because we had a problem in the other La Quinta in Superstition and as I stated before, still bad. Pool did not work. Room not clean, stairs awful very dirty and worn out. I mean bad. There was a big space between the wall and the door and this was a suite. We are elite members in La Quinta, we stayed in California and we had to go and look for towels, shampoo everything downstairs, the staff was pleasant but the management of this location really does not get it.

We came to Arizona for our nephews graduation from Mesa High, I knew nothing about the area and neither did our nephew, so I kinda just went off Unilocal reviews and
reviews. I was a little worried after reading a lot of the reviews, but I knew things, it wasn’t in the «bad part of Mesa» and it was a good decent price.
We drove from Sacramento, Ca to Arizona in one day and upon arrival the front desk was very friendly and helpful to get us comfortable after the 12 hour drive. We booked the 2 queen bed room because it was cheaper than the single king bed and you know what? It was very spacious! The room had a closet, which you almost never find in a hotel, large bathroom, desk, flat screen TV, I mean really there wasn’t much to complain about. I guess our only complaint was that the walls are very thin, our neighbors were there for some kind of celebration and you could hear them running around all day, but other than that the room was great and had comfy beds.
Lastly, the continental breakfast was amazing! Had everything a usual continental breakfast would have, cereal, coffee, juice, pastries, and then it also had waffles, bagels, toast, boiled eggs, and fruit. They had a nice outdoor patio area where I would go and enjoy the cooler Arizona mornings with my coffee. If we ever had to come back we would definitely stay here again.

I was checked into a room that had not been checked out of… that seems to be to be not only unprofessional but dangerous. And when I alerted the woman that works at the front desk she seemed to careless. I could understand if I had checked in early in the morning, but I checked in 4. plenty of time to clean the room or check to see if someone was still staying here.
as for the 5 star reviews they all sound fake to me, and sound like a advertisements. who cares about continental breakfast. I also took my shoes off in my «new room» and it is pretty clean that the floors have not been vacuumed in awhile. It seems to me that there should be a round of firings. maybe some fresh blood will shake things up.

Super clean rooms, nice housekeeping staff (one left a note on my bed for me!), free WiFi, the continental breakfast had a waffle making station, a pool and hot tub, and super affordable!
If you are going to Spring Training and have a car at the ready, I’d definitely recommend staying here.
I don’t know the last time I stayed at a hotel that had free WiFi, I want to give them six stars because of this.

What more can you ask for?

This La Quinta location is awesome, not only are the rooms beautiful but insanely quiet. Hubby and I had a fantastic stay & slept well each night.
Also the staff called later in the evening to see if everything was okay. (WOW)
