1 star for misrepresenting their food n their menu. I ordered the Large shrimp cocktail with homemade cocktail sauce. Only 4(tough) shrimp for 11.95 I asked for additional horseradish because I like my cocktail sauce on the spicy side and was told they didn’t have any. So, what do they use to make the cocktail sauce in the first place?! Bloody Mary Mix must also come from a can.

Had breakfast here twice while waiting in the airport. I was a little scared because of the reviews, but it wasn’t bad, for an airport spot. We sat at a table the first time, and the bar on the second visit. The first time I had pancakes which I would say were just okay. Not bad but not great. The second time I just had a bagel toasted with cream cheese, which is hard to mess up anyway, but it was good. And a fruit bowl. Both times the service was average. A little overpriced for what it is but that’s expected in the airport. The bar seems to be most popular here. Overall, not a bad place to stop but nothing special.

As I ended my weekend in Miami for Art Basel, I stumbled across this vibrant eatery that was located by my departure gate! The bartender was very nice and energetic for such an early start. I ordered a breakfast platter but it was anything but basic! The food looked so pretty on the plate that I couldn’t wait to dig in. Everything was very well seasoned. Not too salty… not too bland, but just right! I also treated myself to a breakfast champagne drink! Definitely hope my next flight leaving Miami is in the same location!

I was a bit scared to come here since the ratings were bad but I thought I took a risk and give it a try since I had a lot of time to kill and I rather sit down at a table to eat. This restaurant is near gates D1−9. It was nearby my gate so I decided to come here. I was greeted right away by the hostess and she gave me the option of the bar or table. Of course I went with the table. I noticed a waitress and waiter standing nearby chatting and one of them came later after I was looking at the menu for a good 30 seconds. The menu had some good options and I was terribly hungry so I started off with a water and coconut shrimps. As for my main I decided to get the twin pork chops with rice. The coconut shrimp came out and I was super disappointed… I could not believe they came out with only 3 pieces for 9.50 $. Very expensive and this place is not that fancy. I highly doubt their quality is top $$$. Luckily for me the shrimp did taste good but it wasn’t the best you ever tasted and definitely not at that price. My main dish came out shortly after. Presentation was okay. The pork chops were cooked well. It would probably taste better with the sauce that came with it but it looked questionable to me. The rice had some hard pieces… not the best rice even though they tried to make it look tasty. The best part of the dish was the plantains. Overall it was not that great. I won’t be back even if I had hours to wait until next flight. Service was mediocre but the hostess was nice.

Had some time to kill before our flight on the last day of our vacation so we stopped at this place for lunch. I am not a big fan or airport restaurants but let me tell you this one was good! The wife had a cocktail which it turned out was strong and tasty and I had some sort of Puerto Rican beer suggested by the server. The food was very well prepared with good flavors. The menu is geared toward a lot of sandwiches, appetizers etc. but the dishes were creative and well executed. Service was excellent and attentive. If you find yourself at the Miami Airport give this place a go.

I had about an hour to kill, before my flight departed. Of course, being the typical cheap Indian that I am, the price of this place caught my attention. I was quickly seated, greeted a few minutes later, and placed my order. THEWAITRESS I ordered the scrambled egg whites with bacon and a side of toast meal(around $ 7.99, I believe), and a glass of water. The waitress was a saleswoman, because she was basically selling me extra things. My intention was the aforementioned items; however, she asked if I wanted a bowl of fruit with it. The way she said it made it seem like the fruit was a part of the meal, so I said yes. I know, my fault for not asking her. Also, when I asked for my glass of water, she was like, «Do you want a bottle water to take for the plane?» Ugh, no, I want the free one I asked you for! THEFOOD The scrambled egg whites were super runny and the bacon was soggy. I was making the ew face every time I took a bite . The fruit bowl(which cost an extra $ 4 or so) was obviously good, and the water as well. Basically, anything they didn’t make was good. As cheap as I am, I would never go back to that place. Also, don’t forget the 18% tip is included in your bill. You have the option to reduce or increase the amount.

Flight delayed so we stopped here. Service was great. Odd, unpleasant odor in the restaurant. Food was eh. My rum cocktail was poured with a heavy hand — which I TOTALLY appreciated. So stop for a drink or two, but not a snack. Blech.

In the days of old, one could get a fairly decent meal on an airline flight but nowadays, one pays US$ 7.00 for a box of snacks that were once free. These days, I have the option of choosing an airport restaurant, sitting down and being served a proper meal. I was recently in the Miami International Airport and the Islander Bar caught my eye immediately. I entered, sat down and was greeted by a very attractive and charming waitress. I ordered a mojito while I decided what to order to eat. I ordered a Caesar salad followed by jerk chicken served with rice and peas and fried bananas. I enjoyed the meal but the chicken breast was a bit too dry and the jerk sauce could have been kicked up a notch in heat.

I had an hour to kill and ended up here for a beer and food. Sat not at the bar but at a pub table near it. Service was A-OK Food is what was expect– Not terrible, not fabulous, but again– A-OK. Ordered chicken quesadillas and something else I don’t remember… Remember that 18% is always added to the bill. You can alter it if you wish. I understand why they do this since people are fly by night here. *Pun intended.

At 3 am my time(pst) 6am Miami time, you could sell me anything at that point… lucky waitress! A 3 hr layover, we just got into Miami international, we wanted to have a decent breakfast. This place looked good. Steak and eggs special and a giant long booth. Done! Our waitress Dee, was nice and completely mono tone. I couldn’t tell if she was joking or serious. She first offered me a Grand mimosa… sure. I was hoping it was a giant mimosa… not so much. «It’s a mimosa made with grand marnier»… ok, sure why not. At this point I’m sure Dee, was thinking, I can sell this chick anything! I ordered the steak and eggs and Dee asked if I wanted the«sirloin special». Ok. I didn’t realize until the end of the meal, when our check came that my steak and eggs was $ 24.50! What happened to $ 14.99? «You got the sirloin special»… um ok, isn’t that the steak and eggs? «Oh, it’s a better piece of meat.» Oh… Thanks?!? So… the steak was ok. I couldn’t complain much since they actually got the steak cooked correctly. I like my steak medium, but always order it medium rare knowing that it’ll be over cooked… surprisingly it came out really juicy and slightly bloody… Really close to it still Moo-ing. I would’ve like the steak more if it had better flavor, but it had steak sauce full of spices which was good. Eggs were cooked nicely and the oj was extra tangy. I was melting into the booth, and could’ve just laid there to nap!

A coworker recommended to try the Black Angus Burger(8oz). The burger was delicious and not average. Price is $ 15 with french fries(fries were okay), price should be better, but everything/anything in airports can be pricey. In the mood for a burger and your in Miami International Airport? Head to Islander you won’t regret it.

As far as airport restaurants are concerned, the fast speed in which they served food was a very big positive. I went in this sit down place because it was the few restaurants available in this section of the airport. I ordered the fried conch fritter and grilled Mahi Mahi. The grilled Mahi Mahi was actually decent, moist with a delectable mango salsa. Nothing spectacular, but also not terrible. However, the fritters were downright disappointing, even by the low airport food standards. They tasted like heavily salted corn starch, with traces of conch, all rolled into greasy, unwieldy balls. Probably not a place I will come by willingly, but with limited dining options, this place fits the bill for fast service, though the food leaves much to be desired.

As far as airport restaurants go, I was very pleased with Islander Bar & Grill. We had no wait to get seated. I was happy to see a couple TVs in my view, but not every table is situated with a visible television. Our service was good too, definitely better than what I expected. We ordered some frozen drinks which tasted just fine but turned to slush pretty quickly. I would normally grab a beer but they don’t have drafts! The food was just fine but nothing was truly memorable. Everything was priced well though, especially considering this place is located within an airport.

While walking around terminal D, my fellow travelers and I had very few options for food. There’s fake Asian food at Machu Wok and then a bakery and a pizza parlor. We had decided since it was the last leg of our trip to indulge in some seafood. The staff was. I wouldn’t call them overly friendly but they were cordial. We were seated and our waitress seemed to forget that we had requested waters so when she was at another table nearby, I had to get her attention and ask for them again. My boyfriend got the shrimp basket and I got the croissant with chicken salad. The shrimp batter wasn’t the best it could’ve been and the shrimp was also severely overcooked. For a coastal city, seafood getting overcooked seems like a frequent occurrence. My croissant was… it tasted like Sam’s Club croissants that I buy in bulk and the chicken salad was bland. I was secretly hoping that they had used the chicken salad from Sam’s Club because that’s significantly tastier. They do add a mandatory 18% gratuity(is this also the standard in this city?). They have a little section that says +/-gratuity but realistically, who’s going to fill that out? As we were leaving my friend summed up our experience perfectly but referring to this as, «disappointing airport food.» Unfortunately I agree with her completely.

Nothing spectacular to report, but also nothing terrible. I went in around 8pm on a Tuesday night and it was pretty empty, just a few tables with one person seated at each. My waitress came over in less than 2 minutes, which was 2 minutes too long since she was just standing there. I ordered right away since I had 15 minutes to get onto my connecting flight. She came right back with my lemonade and the food came less than 10 minutes later. Everything was fine, not amazing but not stale, bland or anything subpar. I was a bit surprised to see the 18% gratuity added to the bill, but maybe it’s a Miami thing :-/ All in all, for under $ 20 it was a decent meal with better than decent service. That side of the terminal didn’t have much to offer, so I guess I would go back again if I was in that area with the same limited options.

BEWARETHISPLACEGIVESYOU A MANDATORY18% GRATUITY — TOTALBULLSHIT — STAYAWAY This is the worst meal I’ve had in years. For $ 44 two of us enjoyed what was promoted as grilled chicken and fried fish filets but was in reality jerky-dry Alpo-quality crap. Wait, I would totally upgrade to Alpo. Seriously, McDonalds is light years ahead of this dump. If you are hungry, go get a snickers bar or perhaps pull something out of a trash can rather than going here. Other more nutritious alternatives might include trying to digest a whole issue of Skymall or the lifesaver below your seat. I give this place six barf bags.

Islander Bar and Grill inside Terminal D in Miami International Airport is one of the few sit down places on the far end of the airport near gate 46. Grilled Mahi Sandwich pretty simple and decent plus 1 star Wings larger wings had to be sent back because they were uncooked and pink inside Conch Fritters were fried dough balls no conch inside A couple of nasty Mojito drinks. Service was terrible. Our server had serious attitude. I wanted to bring it up to the Manager but he and all the other servers looked as if they had the same screw you attitude. And since we were on happy vacation mode and just changing planes in an hour, I let it go.
